FM Kalfin: Bulgaria Has Rather Active Business Contacts with Kosovo
The business contacts between Bulgaria and the newly independent Republic of Kosovo are increasingly active. This was announced Saturday by the Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin before the Bulgarian private Darik Radio. Kalfin said the economic cooperation between the two states must be developed further. In his words, there are already a large number of Bulgarian businessmen doing business in Kosovo, and respectively, many Kosovar entrepreneurs working with Bulgarian firms. "The Bulgarians Kosovo are dealing mainly with trade, but there are also certain investment opportunities. As far as I know, the Bulgarian businesses are interested in these, and there is also a desire on part of Kosovo to attract Bulgarian investments," Kalfin said. He supported his claim about the dynamic development of the Bulgaria-Kosovo business relations by reminding of the recent visit to Kosovo of the Deputy Economy and Energy Minister Yavor Kuyumdzhiev, who was accompanied by a number of Bulgarian businessmen. more
Syracuse to host WISE Symposium
Showtime is near for the sixth annual WISE Symposium, which brings women together to talk about the challenges and opportunities of becoming entrepreneurs.
The Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at Syracuse University will host this year's conference, scheduled for Tuesday at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter.
Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship, or WISE, was started in 2003 to create a network among women entrepreneurs and to inspire and guide the next generation of business owners.
Last year, the symposium launched the WISE center, which provides training, support and mentoring for women entrepreneurs. According to the center's Web site, more than 50 percent of all businesses are owned by women and, for the past two decades, women-owned firms have grown at nearly two times the rate of all businesses. more
Is risky business just part of game?
Wall Street investment bankers got another lesson about the dangers of risk-taking this past week with the downfall of Bear Stearns. The question now obviously is, how long will it last?
Those bankers, many of whom lived through market debacles like the dot-com bust at the start of this decade, turned out to have very short memories. And so analysts believe the sale of Bear Stearns to JPMorgan Chase for a stunning $2 per share ultimately won't have that much of an impact on how Wall Street conducts business.
In fact, bankers and traders are under even more pressure to reap big returns because of the credit crisis, and risk is just part of the game.
"There's an old saying on Wall Street that, for traders and bankers, you'd have to take a normal 30-year career and distill it to 15 years," said Quincy Krosby, chief investment strategist for The Hartford. more
Fire station's move helps Fayette business
FAYETTE --- Business owners intend to move and refurbish the existing fire station on a vacant lot on Main Street that previously belonged to the city. The purchase and reconstruction project will allow Dennis and Deb Marmann to expand their company, Total Builders. The Marmanns, the only bidders, paid $1,500 for the property in the heart of the town's business district. In selling the lot, city officials stipulated the new owners erect a commercial building on the property with a minimum frontage of 48 feet.Earlier the couple purchased real estate adjacent to the lot. The Marmanns intend to open a business, Fayette Flooring, in the next year.Tuesday, members of the City Council considered bids to remove the fire station, which is a steel structure. The city received eight offers, but the Marmanns submitted the top bid, buying the building for $4,000.Other bidders were from Waucoma, Sumner, Fairbank, Ossian, Clermont and Postville. more

Starting My Piano Lesson Business Questions asked
Resolved Question: I need help! I'm starting a tutoring business!?
This is my first business and I need help. I get straight A's in all subjects (challenge pre-algebra, challenge science, challenge comm art skills, orchestra, choir, comm arts, and world history). I take piano lessons privately and I play the violin (5th chair out of 19) and sing alto but I have a wide range. I used to take drama and art class. What should I charge and do you have any tips? moreResolved Question: Need Reviews for the 1st chapter of my Vampire Novel. 10 points for best answer!?
Chapter 1 Snow. It was something you didn't see often in Los Angeles, California. At least I was pretty sure that it was rare. I sighed to myself as I stared out the window towards the ocean. I hadn't lived here very long, so what could I say about the weather. I groaned as the school bell rung and I took my seat in the very center of the room. Science. It was my worst subject, in fact I was never really ever good at things like Math or Science. I was much more of a creative person, I liked to read, write, sing, play piano. I smiled when I thought of the dance class that I would be starting today. My older sister Jennifer practically had to drug me in order for me to say yes to the whole thing. I loved dancing, don't get me wrong but ever since my parents were murdered and I had moved to California to live with Jenna, things had changed and it didn't feel right, I didn't feel right about asking Jenna to pay for it, but she just smiled and promised me that it was no big deal and that she could easily afford it. Suddenly a teachers voice rung out and I was shaken from my daze. “ Good Morning! I hope everyone here has finis...” This is when I began to tune her out. Not intentionally of course but it was not like I was really trying to stay focused. I glanced out the window again to see that snow was no longer falling and the sun was peeking behind the scattered clouds. I groaned and all of the eyes in the room turned in my direction. At first I hadn't noticed how much of a disruption I had made, but before long my attention was directed in the way of the teacher. The teacher cleared her throat as she glared at me from across the room. “ Is there something the matter, Miss Marxx.” I glanced at the playboy bunny look alike and sighed deeply. “ No, Ms. Thomson, I apologize.” She nodded and turned back to the white board to write down my name underneath the Detention slot. She merely glanced at me to see if I had caught her drift and I nodded. Then she quickly erased my name and began on with her lesson. The jocks in front of me laughed as the cheerleaders to the right smirked in my direction. They giggled to one another and whispered into each others ears. I had understood what Ms. Thomson had meant, they however had not understood this piece of important information. The rest of the day passed by quickly enough and soon the last bell had rung and I dashed my way towards my locker in attempt to arrive at it before my locker mate Amanda did. Mandy was a rude, skinny, cheerleader, with long platinum blonde hair and brown eyes. I really didn't think that she was something to gawk at, but people did, all of the time. Mandy approached slowly as her boyfriend, quarter back Donny Mitchell intertwined their fingers. Instantly I felt the urge to vomit. As if that wasn't bad enough, her outfit was simply atrocious and was defiantly not something you should let a child wear in a catholic school Mandy smirked as Donny touched her butt as she leaned down to get stuff out of her locker. I cringed and glanced away as I pulled my plain black shoulder bag across my chest. “ Have fun tonight, Savanah.” I grimaced as she walked away unfazed by what she had just said. My fist tightened and I slammed my locker door causing it to make a loud bang though out the empty hallway. I closed my eyes softly and took a deep breath before I preceded to run my hands through my naturally curly red hair. My blue eyes scanned the parking lot for Jenna's 2004 Red Corvette. It wasn't there, as expected from my older sister. Jenna and her business partner Alicia ran the hottest nightclub in the west side of Los Angeles. Therefore her day pretty much consisted of sleeping until eight at night and then going to sleep at seven in the morning. It was a hectic life but Jenna should handled it well. I smiled when I thought about it. My mother had always told me that we were night owls, all three of us. My eyes saddened as I thought about my older brother Matthew. He had just disappeared the night our parents were murdered. It was odd, but in a way this was the thing that kept me living day to day. Matt hadn't died, well at least he wasn't found when the police searched the house for his body. I smiled thinly as I walked across the busy LA street. Even though it was slit, my brother could still be alive and that was the one thing I prayed for every night. “Jenna, I'm home!” I screamed as I flopped my bag in the living room. No answer. I sighed and tip toed past a sleeping Jenna so I could put my converse in my closet. Slowly I made my way into the bathroom to observe the crazy mess that I called my hair. It was curly alright, every single piece of it. I glanced at my eyes and shuttered as a chilled breeze entered the room. I set down the mirror in my hand to place my hand on the paint covered mirror that was hanging above the sink. “Jenna, why don't you just take the mirror down, instead of painting over it?” Jenna shook her hethank you for answering! :) moreResolved Question: How do I get my start in music?
This is going to sound really wrong, but i want SO badly to get into the music business but my mom doesn't support me like at all and she won't let me take guitar or piano lessons and I've tried using music synthesizers online but nothing will work. I've already written like 5 dif. songs with melodies and lyrics but I can't really get anywhere without knowing how to play anything. moreResolved Question: Should i quit piano at 6th Grade?
(Bare with me, this is really detailed) I've just recently passed my 5th Grade AMEB Piano with a B+ and now I have started 6th Grade for about 5 weeks now. I can already play 1 song fluently and is most likely ready for exam, but as for my other songs - i'm really dreading to practice. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE playing the piano, I LOVE "the" piano, I LOVE making my own songs though this just happens randomnly, i don't actually write down the notes on paper. I haven't been educated with piano theory, so my knowledge of the piano notations (eg. minims, dotted minims etc) are very limited. My teachers have been forever changing, and they've been comprised of Uni students teaching me. And i don't like that. That's probably why i absolutely dread waking up on Saturday morning and having to go to piano lessons. I was also thinking of changing musical instruments. After having played the piano for 8 years, I do not think it necessary to continue piano as I have a sound understanding of the ways to play the piano and I am really good at sight reading. What benefits would finishing til 8th Grade give me? I just want to know the consequences. I know that I will later regret this deeply in my later life. But i am very limited to the way i play piano. I had to keep re-selecting my songs for 6th Grade because my hands are way too small to reach an octave which i can play slowly together but the songs require me to play it fast which i cannot with my small hands. But I’m 16 years old, entering my final year of high school. I need to focus on that. But I need to decide whether or not to continue my piano lessons and just play the songs at home when I’m free and then when I think I have got the songs together, go back to piano lessons to get the teacher to brush up on a little things then do my exam – which will save my parents the money and give me flexibility. But by doing this, I know that I will not follow practicing at home. I do hope to study music in University, don't know whether it'd be my major, but it's the only thing that interests me other than Business and paperwork etc. I like practical stuff. And i also want to study Film Studies and/or Theatre in Uni. But I don't think the uni teachers would like the fact that i quit piano after just recently having started 6th Grade. They would seem me ask weak. Please help me. I have piano lessons in about 2 hours time. Though i don't expect anyone to have commented on this that quickly. I will probably tell my new teacher that i'm thinking of quitting, but then thinking of calling my ex-piano teacher and my other ex-piano teacher for advice. But... i don't hope to go to piano next week. And my parents will support me in all my decisions. I'm just worried, i might make the worse decision of my life. Living with regret. moreResolved Question: Question about piano, being a musician, and making money?
I don't want to be a wage slave. I'm a 21 year old female and I'm only now realizing the reality of 9 to 5 wage slavery. I'm a freshman in college. I used to think I wanted to be a psychiatrist or a neurologist, because they make upwards of $100k a year. But now I'm starting to think that $100k doesn't sound like enough (and I certainly don't want to wait 10 years to even begin to make that much and attempt to pay off graduate school debt). I'm told by most people to go to college just to have something to fall back on, for "security", and so on. But working for someone else is never secure, and I don't want the stress of being a doctor or lawyer. I'm not really charismatic enough to be a businessperson, so I would likely not own my own business. However, I love music. I'm not good at piano yet, but in the few lessons I've had, two separate piano teachers have told me I have good finger dexterity and am abnormally good at improvisation. A choral teacher in early high school made a pretty big deal every time I sang. If I focused solely on piano and voice (and maybe took up guitar eventually) for the next 4 years that I would have spent in college, what is the possibility that I could make a decent living? I'm talking about spending anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a day, for the next 4 years, on perfecting piano, writing songs, pitching them to whoever I can find, playing at piano bars, trying to get jobs as a pianist in a recording studio for other people's work, etc. It's a big risk, but so is doing what everyone else does. For anyone who knows about a career in music, or with piano in particular, I'd love to hear your advice. Or even if you don't know about piano and have general advice, that'd be great. Thanks. moreResolved Question: I just chose my options and have started them, I really want to change to Music but not sure? Worried! Help!?
Back in June, I had to choose 3 options to study at GCSE level. I chose Psychology, Business Studies and Fine Art. I put Music as an Alternative. But now, I have had a few lessons of each option, I like fine art and Business Studies but I Absolutely hate psychology, and I don't think my opinion on that will ever change. My best friend chose Music and I'm really Jealous of what she's doing for music and I'd never thought I would miss Music this much, but I really am! One problem, I have no idea how to read music, and I can just about play simple tunes on the Piano/keyboard, let alone have any clue as to how to compose a song or something. I'm more of a singer and Performer. I'm really worried that if I ask to change to Music and I am allowed to, I will be really stuck and have no idea what I'm doing with the composing and reading music bit. If you take music gcse, whats the coursework like? How did you learn to read music? What do you think I should do? Do you think I'm completely out of my mind? Please answer, I have limited time if I decide to change my Options. Thanks, Natalie x moreResolved Question: Successful woman dating great guy who isn't that accomplished. What to do?
I have a dilemma. I love my boyfriend very much, but my respect for him wanes when I've seen how little he's accomplished in his 31 years. I grew up going to competitive private schools, taking piano lessons for 10 years, participating in numerous sports, clubs and leadership roles. I have started 2 businesses in my early 20s and am also working on my masters at a prestigious university. I don't have any debt. My boyfriend played baseball growing up, then went to college, got mediocre grades and has been working for a larger retailer since. In his spare time he hits the gym. He has some credit card debt and very little savings. My question is, can love survive these inequalities? Please mature answers only. The idea of "love conquers all" is unrealistic. I should also say I've dated plenty of guys who look better on "paper" but they're usually jerks who don't have time/care to make time for a girlfriend. I've usually only found one or the other.I just think it's important to make sure you're on the same page with someone, especially if you're thinking about marriage. You can love someone with all your heart, but if you don't envision the same lifestyle as eachother or agree about money, you're in for a rude awakening. moreResolved Question: Extra Work on Acting Resume?
Hello. I was just wondering if I should put extra work that I have done in my acting resume. I am 18 years old, and I have been an extra for about 3 commercials and shows through Beau Bonneau extras casting here in San Francisco. I also might be able to be in an ad for a magazine or catalog, but I am not fully sure yet. I was wondering if I should put all of this in my acting resume under "extra work". I am also trying out for a role in a public theater (non-paying). They are doing "A Christmas Carol". If I am casted as something small like the chorus or something small like that, should I still put it in? The reason I want to put this in is because I am only starting out. I am an aspiring actor, and I know that you can't just start off big. The reason that I'm doing extra work is to familiarize myself with the settings of the "acting" business. Should I also put down some of my skills like: I have been playing guitar for several (about 5) years, I played the tuba for 3 years in school, I learned basic piano for about 2-3 months, and I am currently taking voice lessons for singing? Also, I won't send this resume to casting directors. The reason why I am building this resume is to get an AGENT and some type of representation. So yea, should I make an "extra work" section and put in some of the skills that I know how to do in my resume in order to get an agent or get some type of acting work in small things like a community play? Is this the RIGHT way to get an agent? Thanks to those who answer! moreResolved Question: I need a memorable and descriptive name for my music studio (for music lessons) any ideas?
I'm starting a business out of my home. I teach violin, viola, and piano, but I hope to attract enough attention to hire some teachers of other instruments to teach in the music studio of my home too. I need a business name! Any ideas? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is it common to be called a snob if you talk about things that you are interested in?
I am interested in genealogy and have proven who all of my 3rd great grandparents were as well as most of my family lines back to the American Revolution. Many of my ancestors were cavaliers and plantation owners. I also have evidence that I am likely a descendant of George Washington's grandfather and the Plantagenet Kings of England. I am a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am also interested in business, work in accounting, and plan to start my master's degree in accounting next fall. I also wear a lot of suits with vests, Thomas Pink dress shirts and ties, own a black tie tuxedo, a few ascots, and several hats. I am also a member of the Heraldry Society and have a coat of arms registered in several countries. I also know the Catholic mass in Latin and attend church every weekend. I've sung bass in my church choir and used to take lessons for violin, flute, piano, and trumpet. But as a 28 year old Las Vegan I do not consider myself a snob. This is just me and what I am interested in. So does a person's interests dictate whether or not they are a "snob?" But guess what? I once worked at Jack In The Box for a week. Now who is the snob? moreResolved Question: Father was a womanizer and alcoholic, brother attempted suicide?
Father was a womanizer and alcoholic, brother attempted suicide? mother took me and my brother away from my dad. What do you make of this? People think I'm so confident, but inside I'm very shy and insecure, please read on... My parents had to get married as Mum was pregnant with my older brother. When I was 6, my father started having affairs and turned into an alcoholic. He had his own very very successful business. He was emotionally abusive especially to my mother. My brother was constantly let down by my father who would break promises of spending time together doing their hobbies (he was too busy with his mistresses). Everything revolved around my brother who was so spoiled, he had piano lessons, I didn't even get asked if I wanted them. He failed at primary school so couldn't go to high profile Grammar school with his low marks, so we moved to a different area. My parents had a trial separation and I begged them to get back together (I was a real Daddy's girl) they re-united for a few months, only for things to go downhill and my mother beat me and blamed me. When I was 12, my brother attempted to shoot himself - a cry for attention. Shortly after this, my mother was so humiliated, she took me and my older brother 200 miles back to her roots. She had stayed with my Dad throughout all his affairs, but the attempted suicide made her head for divorce. I had to start a 3rd new school and found it hard to make new friends (as I said I was very shy). Mum started seeing different, undesireable men. I am very sweet and caring and did everything for her and led a quiet life. My first wage, I spent on a beautiful new crockery set for Mum and laid it all out on the dining table, only for her to say she hated it. (I kept it for my bottom drawer when I would eventually marry - and marry right, which I did). When I got married, and later found out I was pregnant, I was over the moon and told her I was 8 weeks, she said she was disappointed and trying to get over the shock of being a grandmother (my brother had a baby one year earlier) My brother has always got himslelf into trouble and is very opinionated and ignores me for no reason, I have tried to talk to him, but he won't answer (my husband thinks he's just jealous screwed up attention seeker) My father died 4 yrs ago aged 64 with alcohlic poisoning and my brother took the ashes and scattered them without me - unforgiveable- yet he wanted my money for funeral costs and flowers. I have never stepped a foot wrong, and have 2 beautiful well adjusted children. Ok so I'm 15, a freshman in hs, and I'm thinking about getting my GED when I'm 16. I want to use the time I'm not in school to get a couple of jobs, save up some money, and focus on my music. I'm planning on going to a CC when I'm 17 or 18, and getting an associate's degree possibly majoring in music or business, or both if possible. from there I plan on probably getting a part-time job (not like at Mcdonald's or anything, not that there's anything wrong with that lol) while I work on writing, singing and composing my own music. I want to start with nothing, and work my way up to be something great. And I know that it's hard to get a career in this field, but I am so determined that I know I'll find a way. So basically I'm just asking for some advice on this, preferably from someone who's had experience here or whatever. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me :) OH and I've also been playing the piano/keyboard for about 2 years, and a little guitar and violin as well. I sing and play guitar in a band, but I also know how to play piano, I going to learn the viola and I want to learn how to play bass guitar. "Friend #1" plays the keyboard/piano and the saxophone, but is planning on quitting the saxophone after the school year ends. (F1) "Friend #2" plays the cello, but her primary instrument is the piano, and she wants to learn the guitar. (F2) "Friend #3" does back up vocals, has no known sense of rhythm. She used to play piano, but quit due to lack of interest. (F3) "Friend #4" is going to start taking guitar lessons this summer, however, she also has an amazing sense of rhythm. (F4) We are trying to arrange more songs for ourselves to play, but the problem is that F1 will not budge. She refuses to play an instrument besides the piano, however, her instrument is not unique among the band. I am worried that the F2 will get sick of constantly being called "the orchestra" (which is partly why I want to learn the viola, so she's not alone) and will quit, because she is a much better piano player than F1. Orchestra explanation: we like playing songs with a string section. We already know "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. (me- vocals and guitar, F1- vocals and piano, F2- cello, F3- vocals and bells, F4- had not joined yet) I would like to be able to switch up who plays what so fights don't start. If F1 does not learn new instruments, F2 will be stuck with the cello in every song (which is not good, because not every song has an orchestral string section). F1 likes being the center of attention, and although she does not have have an impressive singing voice, I have already promised her a "solo song" of her choice, in which she can sing AND play piano. This will be "White Houses" by Vanessa Carlton. I was hoping this would allow her to be open to switching up the instruments if she can have a song to herself to really shine. F2 is better at the piano, and I think that she should be able to play piano in some of the songs we learn. I've tried to convince F1 to learn a new instrument. She says when she plays the sax, she doesn't feel a true connection with it like she does when she plays piano. She needs to learn a second instrument! She expects all of us to learn the other instruments! Not all songs have a piano part either, which complicates things, because the song will not have the same effect if we wrote one for it. We want to learn "Misery Business" by Paramore. I can already play the guitar part, which I am totally willing to teach to the other members who learn guitar, but the song has a drumbeat. Duh. Oh, and there's no piano in that song, but F1 wants to play piano anyways. Hem hem, not just keyboard- I have asked her if she could use a percussion setting so we could have a beat, but she wants to play the guitar part on the piano, and have it sound like a piano. Does that make sense? Sorry that was so long! Please, I really need help. I don't know how to convince her. I've tried asking her if she was interested in another instrument. She said other instruments fascinate her, the same way they fascinate me, but she doesn't feel a compulsion to learn them. Example: Stringed orchestral instruments are a must have for her in our songs, however, she wants to sit behind a piano while others give the song its full effect. MY QUESTIONS: 1. How do you convince a friend to learn a new instrument? 2. Are there any drills you can put someone through to improve their rhythm? F3 needs help with it... We are going to make her play Rock Band, although she hates it already because she's supposedly really bad at it... But the rest of us enjoy it! Haha Thanks everyone! So sorry about the length. I've kept that bottled up for a while... moreResolved Question: Will my piano teacher leave his wife for me now that sex is so good between us?
I'm 22 and i'm sleeping with my 55 year old piano teacher who is my next door neighbour and a family friend.Hes married 30 years to his wife and she goes away on business lot - no kids. Me and mom and dad moved her one year ago and became friendly with him. It was obvious from day one that he fancied me and flirted unashamadely with me when i'm alone, i was totally smitten by him also. I'm blond, tiny wasted and naturally very big breasted and i used to lie out in the garden in my bikini when i knew he was out the back. His eyes used to fall out of his head and to make a long story short i started 'getting piano' lessons where we just flirt and drink wine. When the wife is away as she is always really frosty to me. Anyhow, we have taken it a step further and we are now having sex as the wife is away alot. The sex is just amazing and he said hes never had better and that he feels 25 years younger, i mean i'm pretty horny and adventourous so i'm giving him lots of fantasise about, i mean tiny skirts, sexy panties, tight white shirts and i've had to stifle my screams during sex he is soooo good at it. Man, i'm horny now and i cannot see him as the wife is at home all week. Hes out in the garden now so i'm going out to say hello. This feels so exciting, but all i want ot know is will he leave the wife? Surley if sex is this good, he will want to be with me and does it not mean that we are meant to be together if the sex is so good? moreResolved Question: How much would you pay for your child's piano lessons?
I want to start a business of teaching piano out of my home. I'm thinking of charging somewhere between $15 and $20 for a half hour lesson. I don't have any degrees, but I was a serious student of classical music for 10 years. I continue to learn new music and perfect my skills. What is a fair price to ask? Do you think anyone will be willing to pay $20 per lesson? That's what I feel I deserve for my time and training. But the only thing that matters is what people are willing to pay.I forgot to mention that I do have some experience teaching. I used to have 8 students, but I only charged $5 cause they were friends who have asked me to teach their kids. I have the patience, I know my stuff, and I know how children learn. They all did quite well, but I didn't ever think the money was worth it. I worked hard at each lesson. I think I am worth more.I use the Suzuki method and books. So, some of you pay per hour? How old are your kids? I've never heard of a one hour lesson, unless they are in high school... moreResolved Question: Chances of getting into these schools based on the information below...?
Hi! So I need to start visiting colleges and am wondering where to apply based on my credentials. So here they are: I am at a Catholic private school with a 4.1 GPA, I am a competition pianist and have won many awards, I have gone to China to sing for Pre-Olympics ceremonies with my Honors Choir, I sang at an All-State festival I was selected for with two other people in my grade, I am a certified coach for Special Olympics in tennis and volunteer on Saturdays during the Fall and Spring, I was on JV tennis for two years, I have a part in my school's musical and will have a lead next year, I write articles for my newspaper's teen section online, I am applying for a spot on the fashion board at Nordstrom, I have a start-up jewelry business, I am vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club and will be president next year, I am starting an A Capella group at my school, I was president of my Choral Ensemble and will hopefully be president as a senior next year in Honors Choir, I am secretary of my school's Environmental Club, and I am a volunteer attorney for a Teen Court system (twice a month). Also, I give piano lessons during the summer and I am hoping to go to a state funded science camp over the summer for four weeks. I haven't taken SAT's yet, but I'm pretty good at standardized testing. Also, I'm taking all AP's and Honors classes and I'm in the top 10% of my grade (330 students). Sooooo after all that boring stuff, these are the schools I like: Boston College- my sister went there and I fell in love with it as well, for my own reasons!! Cornell-they are one of the few universities to have a fashion program without being strictly a fashion/arts school Tufts-I love the Boston area UNC-Chapel Hill- I live in NC, so that should be in the bag Colgate- It's in New York, which is my second favorite to Boston Northeastern-alternate if BC didn't work out Cornell is the only one with a fashion design program, but if I were to go to the other schools I was hoping to take communications classes at that school and design classes at a nearby college Thanks everyone for your help! moreResolved Question: If i quit can i collect umempoyment?
I've read that in some cases you can still collect if you quit. If you are an educated person (in um-employment rights) and have some insite I would love your help. I've been at my currant employer for over 2 years. It's a small family owned business and i work in the office as a full time employee. My car is currantly broken and i have been having trouble getting to work. There are 3 office staff, an office manager, me and a part time person. The full time person (me) has certain things i need to accomplish, such as monthly billing, Lesson Payments (this is a music store) accsesory inventory and music book inventory and submitting new pianos warranties through the distributor. the part time person files and data entry. So we hired this new office manager (shortly after our part time peron quit) She was trained and new exactly what my job is. We hired a new part time person who does NOTHING but answer phones and the register. So the office manager tried giving all of my work away to her (she felt i could be doing more important things like what i dont know her reason was "just becasue" in not joking) i told her she cant do that because thats MY JOB. So ever since then everytime i do what i'm supposed to be doing she makes me stop and file and do data entry wich is the part time persons job. I approached the owner of the company on this and she said " I'll talk to her but i think this all stems from the frustration of you not having a ride" I told her " Just becasue i was few minutes late a couple times she can basically demote me." she said " I'll talk to her." and that was that. It has been 2 weeks and i'm still doing the part time persons work and neglecting my own, nothing has changed. now to the point, i want to quit, is being givin work to do that is below you (even when i started i didnt do these things) just cause for quitting and collecting unemployment. moreResolved Question: Will I be able to get into NYU? I saw them in person today and both seemed to get a good sound and feel (although I'm a flute player and not a piano player). I have included the store's descriptions and a link to the picture. They are both used pianos. I'm looking for a quality instrument for my daughter to start piano lessons, but I'm not wanting to break the bank. This store is going out of business in 20 days, so I'm hoping to negotiate a good price, if either of these is worth it. I have a BA in elementary education and minor in music and want to teach music but not in the Public School system because kids have no interest in it and give me a hard time . I want to teach music to kids who want to learn it seriously. My question is how can i start a music school teaching piano or just give piano lessons privately. Where can I advertise? I'm 23, married, and have 2 kids now. I used to work in IT but I hated it. I bartend full-time and make good money but I don't want to do that forever. I have alot of skills that I've learned on my own Photoshop, 3Dsmax, background in IT obviously, advanced piano (used to teach lessons). I'm now considering going back to school, but I'm not really sure if I want to get a single degree or combine a few certificates. I was thinking something with web design and multimedia and possibly something to do with business, because I KNOW I want to start a business soon and that will somehow include the internet...I also already have that background with photoshop...Ive been wanting to get my music degree for a while now but Im afraid I just dont have the time or the drive to complete it with working full-time and having a family. Which is why im leaning more towards the business idea using my technical skills and getting a certificate. Any ideas what would be a good combination for that? moreResolved Question: Should I get a degree or certificates? technical, business, multimedia, music...?
