ND horse park manager loves horse business

After graduation, Benson took a business position involving marketing and education at an agritourism farm in Lake Geneva, Wis.

She then started up a marketing firm and equine business called "Bridlewise Consulting," where she designed and used marketing strategies for horse farms.

While developing her own marketing strategies, Benson worked as a thoroughbred racing analyst for Case the Race, owned by Dr. Gary Knapp, who bred this year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, Big Brown.

On March 17, Benson officially took the reins of the North Dakota Horse Park.

"I knew working at the horse park would be a chance to make things happen, not watch them happen," Benson said.

During her short tenure, Benson has been at the forefront of improvements at the horse park. more

This makes her the first and only individual in the search marketing category to be recognized five times in a row, and also probably the only former sled dog racer in the category as well.

And if that's not rad enough, Lisa also garnered another honor, being recognized by Corp! Magazine's Entrepreneurs of Distinction. Corp! Magazine, Michigan's Largest Business Magazine, chose their honorees by their impressive business activities, major accomplishments, special skills and innovative approaches.

Marketing for Referrals

Indeed, when KBDN surveyed the kitchen and bath industry last fall to get a feel for how marketing dollars are spent, the results showed 37% were spending money specifically to target referral customers. Additionally, 67.6% of dealers attributed closing sales to referral customers. At 184%, the return on investment was the highest of any marketing expenditure cited.

In a soft economy, where every dollar should be stretched as far as possible, a 184% return on investment is noteworthy. In addition to offering a great return, marketing for referrals is typically more cost effective than many traditional advertising venues.
