El Sobrante Pot Candy Maker Pleads Guilty

The owner of an Oakland food factory that churned out pot-laced candy and other foods has pleaded guilty to conspiring to manufacture and distribute marijuana.Federal prosecutors said 34-year-old Michael J. Martin of El Sobrante admitted in U.S. District Court this week that he was a partner in the business, Tainted Inc.Martin began the partnership in 2001, managing marijuana production for "Tainted Truffles,'' a marijuana candy dispensary that sold edibles. The two facilities in Oakland that he managed were growing about 400 marijuana plants when searched, according to prosecutors.Pro-pot advocates said the company made products for medical marijuana clubs.Law enforcement officials reported seizing marijuana-infused candy bars called "Buddafingas," "Stoners," and "Keif Kat'' at the factory wrapped in packages mimicking Butterfingers, Snickers and Kit Kat.Authorities said the factory also added pot to such foods as honey, soda and barbecue sauce.Martin faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. more

Consider Holding Alcon Shares

While the fundamentals at Alcon have been and continue to look fantastic, the shares have been relatively volatile lately due to speculation that Nestle (Other OTC: NSRGY.PK - News) is looking to trim or completely sell its stake in the company. Nestle may be interesting in divesting its share in Alcon to look for more synergistic opportunities to help jumpstart growth at the struggling Swiss food giant.

The concern is that Nestle may start bleeding shares into the market and push the stock price down. As Alcon has operated largely independent of Nestle we don't view the risk of divestiture by the Swiss food company as a concern and our Hold rating is based on the long-term fundamental strength of the company. more

Tchenguiz attacks Sainsbury and M&B boards

Robert Tchenguiz, the property entrepreneur facing heavy losses on stakes in retailer J Sainsbury and pub group Mitchells & Butlers, delivered a sharp attack on Friday on the boards of the two companies, accusing them of failing to maximise shareholder value from their property assets.

But Mr Tchenguiz said he had no intention of cutting his losses and pledged to maintain his stakes for the long-term.

Summer vacation has been a drag...since early July I have been stuck in my house with my two sisters taking care of them while my parents are off at work. I know it is important, but even during the weekend when they are free, they just want to sit at home and work some more(no resting at all!) It is the same routine over and over and over and over (you get my drift) and I am tired of it. My parents are not taking us anywhere and I understand that even if we don't have enough money to go on a legitimate vacation, we can at least go to the pool, but we haven't been to the pool in ages (my friends' pool that is five minutes away, all they really have to pay for is gas money). Now the ONE DAY that my mother was going to take us somewhere, my dad decides that it is best for us to say home and make dinner for some guests (business guests). My car won't start, my dad won't fix it, and we are stuck here from around 9 in the morning til when my mom gets home, which is around 5pm. And no, I am not over exaggerating, I really have been stuck in this house with just a few random trips to the supermarket, gas station, etc. Help, we are incredibly bored, and would love any suggestions that kill this never-ending boredom. i am 26yr old. i been in 2 relationships in my life, they both ended because we were looking for different things. now me and my gf's been going out to this club and we been seeing this bunch of guys week after week. My friends speak to them, there is a guy who stands out from all them, mainly because he is hot, got good dress sense (designer), he can pull of those tight t shirt look, got great body and looks very sexy face/smile. well anyway, we spoke to the guys, some other girls told us that the good looking one was a playboy and that he had a bad reputation for treating women like dirt. he ended up talking to me, i never noticed he was talkin, was staring at the bulge in trousers. I was a AT&T Retail store manager for 4 years. This summer they tried to basically demote me to cut down on cost, it happend to alot of people, and i got into it with my district manager and out of anger quit. Regretting it now. My friends Parents have a Japanese steak house, and he gave me a Cash paying job, @ 10 an hour, and they were supposed to pay me every 2 days. Well Ive been working there for 9 days as of Today, and they are really behind on paying me. I've worked for 8 straight days, 9 hours a day. I started work last Tuesday, and she paid me 100 dollars thursday, and 100 dollars on monday. But i have worked about 70 hours in the last 8 days, and she is in the hole to me about 500 dollars. I've tried to be nice about it, but the work im doing there is real slave work, Mainly Washing dishes, Running food, Mopping the floors, helping the cooks make food. It's like an everything kind of job, and I work from 3pm until about 12am or 1 am on average. I dont really know how to go about this because his mother doesn't speak much english, and I'm starting to get the feeling that she is dodging me at work, because every time i come around her, she will go someplace else. And as i said, the first time she paid me she gave me 100 dollars, and then the second time, she handed me 120, and i said this isn't enough, she said yes i will pay you the rest later. And it's been 5 more days since and she hasn't given me a dime. Do you think i should quit? I mean I need money badly, but i cant just work 7 days a week getting paid here and there little bits of what she owes me. I talked to a friend who used to work there, and she said the place was having financial issues before i got there. But Business there is really good since i've been there. They held a Microsoft convention this week and had about 400 guest. How should i Handle this? I dont want to get confrontational with her, and have her hand me Little money and tell me to leave. I went on a first date with a woman about two weeks ago. Even though we've gone out on only two dates so far (and keep in mind, it's now late June), things certainly seem promising at this point. I have only one sibling (a younger sister), and she's getting married in early November of this year. Assuming that I'm still dating the woman I started dating earlier this month, she and I would have been going out for only 4.5 months by my sister's wedding day. How soon is too soon to invite someone you started dating relatively recently to a family wedding? I told her that I have a sister who is getting married "later this year," but didn't go into specifics yet. Realistically, I'm guessing that I would have to tell my "girlfriend" that she's invited roughly 2 months before the wedding... which would be only 2.5 months after our first date. A few other bits of information that may help you with your response: - This relationship may get off to a slow start. My "girlfriend" and I live about an hour away from one another. My workplace is 45 minutes from my house... in the OPPOSITE direction from where she lives. Unless I travel up to her area for business (which sometimes happens), we can't see each other during the week. Also, she has a job that requires her to work every other weekend (on both Saturday and Sunday). So it's quite possible that sometimes she and I may not see each other for two weeks at a time. - My sister's wedding will be relatively small - only about 120 guests. - Because of distances and work schedules, there's no guarantee that my parents and sister would even meet her before my sister's wedding day. I'm not sure how comfortable they would be with me bringing a "date" to my sister's wedding whom they never met before, especially since she will meet a whole bunch of aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents for the first time that day as well. - She and I are both in our early 30s (in other words, we're not high school or college students). Any thoughts would be appreciated. I really would appreciate thoughts from any women, because I would like to know whether a woman would expect a wedding invite (considering the circumstances).One last bit of information: the wedding will be local. more

I went to go visit them because I needed to talk to my mom (nothing serious) and when I walked in they were both sitting on the couch (they were just staring forward and none of the lights were on and it was close to dark and they wern't doing anything) and then my dad turned around to see who it was and didn't say anything. So I didn't say anything either so I just started looking through the kitchen and nobody was still saying anything (and my dad and I had been like pettily arguing the night before because I needed help dying my hair but I'm 20 years old and I'm kind of at that stage where I don't really want to be around my parents that much where its normal to not be like the best friends in the world who get along. Like we have our differences. Well so they just flat out don't talk to me, they always say I start s*** (when I don't....I'm usually in a good mood but because I am I'm not going to go talking to them. They're acting way too depressed and it isn't my fault.) I think they're just really miserable for some reason, and its none of my business, but why won't they get out of their misery??? Like its just weird like get smart or something. They never socialize, I feel like when I walk in the house it's just like a "go away" tension like they don't care, (I've even noticed that with other guests who go over there). and it's like I'm in a normal, good mood, I'm coming over to THEM and my energy is more positive than theirs, why should they be in that weird miserable mood? And then I leave feeling not wanted...it's like they're toxic or poisonous or out to make me like them or something and its really messed up. But they always blame me for their miserable ways but I'm not responsible for the way they act. And they never talk to anyone. Like there was a block party the other day in their neighborhood, and they didn't even go outside or mingle with the neighbors (my parents just moved there 6 months ago) and after the neighbors from next door (who they never talk to) were coming over asking why they didn't go to the block party...and before that some other neighbors invited them over to their house but my mom said no, and the people asked why and she gave some stupid answer like "well when I was younger the neighbors across the street were atheist so I've never really trusted my neighbors" (........) They're just weird and I don't know why they make it out to seem like everybody else is the blame for their anti-social ways. Like I needed to talk to my mom, but now it's like I seriously wish I didn't go over there. more

I met a guy about a month ago. Things started out great. He was very nice and understanding of my personal situation. I am a divorced single mother of a 2 year old little boy. I told him from the very beginning that I am not looking for a relationship specifically but I am starting to date again to get to know new people. He understood. Once we met, we have spent every weekend together since. After week 3, he dropped the whole "I want a committment" and "the more I am around you, the more I can see myself with you forever" lines. I reminded him that I only want to date and that I'm not ready for a comittment. That turned into a long conversation which I couldn't understand what the problem was. This past weekend, I had a cookout at my house and I invited him. On Sunday, he texted me to let me know that I made him feel awkward at the cookout. I spent the entire time with him except when I was cooking and entertaining my guests. He said I didn't show him enough attention and that he didn't like 2 of the guys that came to the cookout. He also said that when he goes out of town for his job in a few weeks that he doesn't want me hanging around those people. He also said that he doesn't want me going to any night clubs either because I have no business in them. He said that I was "eyeballing" one of the guys all night and that he didn't like that either. The specific guy he is talking about fell asleep on my couch after eating and we were jokingly taking pictures of him while he slept. So, basically last night I told him that I thought he was over analyzing things and that I want my space. He freaked out and said that he's been nothing but nice to me and he guesses I just want someone that will treat me badly and that nice guys always finish last. Then he started crying! I thought he was a good guy but now, I'm worried that he's a controlling person and I really don't want that in my life. My uncle can his son have been staying since Friday, and will be leaving tomorrow. My uncle is on a business trip, so they decided to stay at our house. Last night I watched a very gruesome movie on TV. Now believe me, before my cousin went to bed, we watched very family oriented programming, and catered to his likes. Anyway, I was watching this movie from about 12am - 2am (nobody besides me was up). I have insomnia, so my parents are used to me getting up to watch TV in the middle of the night. Apparently, my cousin snuck out of the guest room to see what I was doing (I didn't notice he was around, otherwise I would have switched the channel). Anyway, he viewed this R rated scene. ok so i request u read this fully cuz im really serious,:(, my story is that from my childhood iv been seeing these strange things everywhere,i mean everywhere i go,i can feel them and see them,most in my house, so it all started seriously abut 5 years ago when i shifted my house with my family,(mom and dad),this house always used to have a bit of strange darkness and was always very humid and hard to breath,for the first few months it went well but after that my dad went to malaysia for a business trip and mom also was mostly out for like 4 days then shed stay for 2 days and go again for 4 days for trips for her business!!during this i used to stay alone mostly,tho sumtimes my cousins used to come for sleepovers but rarely,my first serious experience was when i was sitting and studying on my dining table(there is a mirror right in front of it)!!and i saw a black shadowy hand shake in the mirror like it was saying hi!!i dint panic and slowly picked up my books and went to switch on the tv and scrol to channels who sing gods songs,:p,i felt better,and cudnt sleep at night,!! Voting Question: Boss will NOT give me a letter of employment or pay stubs?

I work at a hotel, part of a major chain. My boss has never asked for my SIN number, and I have been here for 6 months. I asked him a week ago to give me a letter staing approx. how much I make per month, and that I am currently an employee of (company name). I need it for a rental house, and I needed it for YESTERDAY. I have been on him every day about getting it to me every single day. HE keeps saying he is too busy (hes owner operator) to get me one, and to come back after work and get it, but when I go back, it's never there. He also doesn't provide pay stubs, other than a typed slip of paper with my deductions on it- though the paper doesnt state where it is from, or what deductions are which. I have asked him for actual paystubs, so I can give proof of income if I am ever asked for it, and was told he "doesn't do it a different way". I asked for direct deposit, and he says he "is not equipped" to do that. Some days he will come out of his house (attached to where my desk is) and say to me "I';m going out, I will be back at 4" when my shift ends at 3. When I say I don't have daycare after 3:15, he says I need to be more flexible. ??!!?!? His wife is always screaming at him and his family and myself, I hear it, our guests hear it. One day she jabbed me in the back with a pencil while I was on the phone with a guest. Some days their daughter (shes 3) comes and knocks over laundry I have folded, or screams and demands breakfast with the guests. The boss's wife is always yelling about something, or arguing with me about my kids, my husband, etc. HE also told me that he didn't want to sign a letter saying approx what I make per month, because then he says I can sue him if I don't make that much one month. He also says he needs to type it up and get the other 2 shareholders in the property to sign it, and that I will need to sign saying I understand my income is variable. He also won't sign something that says what my monthly income is (again, approximate) because I get paid weekly by cheque. My bank made a mistake and lost the transation for my last cheque from him I cashed, and when I asked him for a copy of the cheque as proof of income he says he would never let someone see his banking information. (ALL I asked for was a copy of the returned cashed cheque in place of a letter from him.) I'm starting to get really pissed off about all of it. Their daughter even demanded one day that I do her laundry (shes 15)!! His wife is pregnant, due ANY day, and he told me he expects me to clear my calendar so when she has the baby I can be here to take over when he leaves with her. He changes my schedule EVERY SINGLE WEEK, with only a few days notice. Sometimes, I work till 11pm, and he wants me back in at 6am. I am really just riled up about the letter of employment thing. I just need his word on paper, that I get a cheque from him each week, amount dependant on how many hours worked (at LEAST 30 hrs a week is what I work), and that yes, I am employed at (business name). Does he legally have to give it to me? He says he doesn't. more

In October my boyfriend and I moved a friend of his from high school into our home, because she would have ended up homeless. We have not put her on the lease and have no plans to put her on the lease, and she rents only a room, bathroom, and kitchen use from us, and that was the agreement when she moved in. Fast forward 6 months, she began dating a friend of my boyfriend. Suddenly this fourth person is staying at our home half the week, helping himself to food in our pantry, watching our Netflix and playing on our XBox in the living room that is not a shared space, he is constantly rude to our other guests, never contributes to the household, and Sunday, when they came home at midnight and woke me out of a dead sleep, and I asked them to be quiet, he laughed in my face, slammed two doors, and blasted the television for two hours. I didn't do anything at the time because the situation has gotten so volatile that I don't want the roommate to feel forced to move out as it is her guest that is the problem, not her. My boyfriend has since spoken to the offender, however no apologies have been made, and our roommate has stated that she will be having him over again next week. And I do understand, that since she pays to live here, she has a right to have company over. I just recently started a new business, so the money that she pays to rent a room from us helps right now while I am settling in and building my client base, so we don't want to kick her out right now, especially since, in all fairness to her, it is her guest that is causing the problems. I would just spend more time out of the house, but most of my work is done from home, so I am here 24/7, she is on disability so she is here 24/7, and he has been unemployed for 5 years with no ambition to get a job (i know, a real keeper :/). I contacted this guest pastor, got permission from our churches administration, and invited him. He's a bigg deal! $$ We got a date set up and I said we need to rehearse with our band, she always says oh I can't i got this and that. I live in an area that has a huge amount of Hotels, but I have not seen one that has 'wifi' available in their rooms or even available anywhere in the hotel! I have been tinkering with the idea of starting a business that would supply and install internet WiFi in their rooms? I think I might get a big response from these Hotels and guest houses as they would be able to increase their market potential by offering this 'Wireless Connection' to their customers? Problem is I have never run a Business and have no idea on how I would Install (Well a Bit). How would I know if there WiFi would work without going through all the effort of setting up a router? And why do Hotels often Highly price their WiFi to customers? Is it because it costs them a lot? I know I sound very naive but research has to start somewhere! As I write this, I have to deal with the unrelenting bass through the walls of my home from our neighbors car next door... Last summer we lost our house, and have relocated to a trailer park; we own the mobile home, but pay lot rent. Whatever, fine. It's great to have a roof over our heads. Our neighbors were very quiet at the time, and didn't bother us any; except that day one a man from next door came knocking asking where the old owners have gone and if we sold weed. Ha. Even that was OK, weed is weed.. and a neighbor that wanders by to wave Hello is supposed to be a good neighbor. However, the last month or so, a white jeep has started showing up a lot more around our neighbors home - normally we wouldn't have cared or noticed, BUT THIS JEEP ALWAYS PARKS IN FRONT OF OUR TRAILER, leaving us with NO ADDITIONAL PARKING. Now - no lie, everyday we have to fight for that parking spot right in front of OUR OWN TRAILER. We have four cars and can normally squeeze two in the drive-way and then two in front of our trailer (I have my car that I need to get to work and school, my mom has her car to get to work, my dad needs his truck to get to work, and my brother needs his car to get to school. Greedy? I don't think so. People keep chimps for pets, go hassle them. We need our cars to get to work.) Our other neighbor parks his inactive car in front of his trailer, which is fine, too... it's his trailer, it's his parking spot. The terrible neighbors in question, however, DO NOT UTILIZE THE PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF THEIR TRAILER. They completely leave that space open, and steal our parking spot the moment one of us leaves the home for work, school, etc. So, when we return, we have to drive all the way to the end of the street and park along a field, and then walk all the way back to our home... The past couple of weeks we didn't think anything of this. Maybe our neighbors didn't know we needed that parking spot... that is right in front of our trailer, 8 feet from our living room window.. Today, though, I'm beginning to suspect our neighbors are deliberately trying to piss us off. -they play very loud music late at night (often around 3am). -when I began to take my dog for a walk this afternoon, I happened to see our neighbors outside of their house... and white jeep, too (PARKED INCHES FROM MY CAR'S BUMPER in front of our trailer), and the jeep was full of girls who were yelling around and screaming things... I didn't want to listen or confront them if they were trying to say things to me. I put my headphones on and didn't pay attention and just walked the other way. I'm afraid to talk to them about this, which would be the civilized thing to do. I don't want to call the police (I'm no narc). Plus, the police have already been over there twice this year... for things I am not knowledgeable of (it's none of my business). If their guest with the white jeep would move their car in the evening when my family is home from school and work, I wouldn't mind them parking there... but our neighbors and their guest park their cars for very long periods of time (and continue to leave that space in front of their trailer open). They appear to have no day jobs, which prompts me to believe the rumors about them are true... they deal drugs, and keep that space open for a reason. I have already sent out invites for my wedding but my fiance`s family seems to want to invite their friends and extended family! Here's the story, we invited my fiances uncle & his ex-wife and son (who are close to the family) together they decided to invite the ex-Wifes daughter & husband and their kids (ive never met them nor were they invited - they dont even know us!) My FMIL also invited her crazy weird alcoholic pot smoking friends to our wedding - granted we know them and see them often but we arnt by any means "close" we just say hi and chat a little about random things w/ a group of people. She took it upon herself to invite these people, might i add that they are loud obnoxious and have no manners - i am even fearful of them drinking too much and starting a fight (as this often happens at their hangout spot) My fiance and i dont drink often (i haven't for years and my fiance does socially) and we see them as little as possible but because his mom is always around them the only way to see her is w/ them there. And then there is my soon to be sister in law - she works w/ a gal who ive become friends with and i watch her younger son (she has 3) her 2 eldest sons are maniacs - they are always into everything... they are the type of kids you see that have their fingers in the wedding cake b4 its been cut. and she is the type of mom to laugh about it. Needless to say this is going to be a redneck play ground - What do i do. I wanted to do a kids table for the obnoxious kids but ive been told that they will sit with her - even though now i don't have enough place settings because guests are inviting guests!!! I recently got a roommate and she's a really good friend of mine, she's not even a roommate, more like a temporary house guest, she's been here for almost two months or so. Her and her boyfriend stay together in the room. Now I love her, she's my best friend and I would never do anything to hurt her, but I've had a problem lately: Her boyfriend follows me around like a lost puppy dog. Whenever I'm home, if I'm not making dinner or something I'm usually in my room, on my laptop, and it seems like every five minutes I get a knock on the door, "Hey what's up? I just wanted to talk". It's gotten to the point where I carry on about my business and he just sits there on my bed chattering in the background,. He's always either talking about his contracting business or how he and my roommate are in some kind of fight again. I would even say that MOST of the conversations are about his relationship problems with my friend, which kind of makes me uncomfortable. When we go shopping he follows me all around the store, even if I'm clothes shopping, it's actually gotten to the point where I use him to hold my bag and the outfits I want to try on while I shop. Here's the thing: I've never come on to him. I would never do that to my friend, who I love, and plus he's not my type AT ALL. He's never directly come on to me either. One time when we were all drunk I let him touch my boobs (over the shirt) but my friend was right there and we were all laughing about it so it really wasn't a big deal, besides that there has been nothing sexual between us. I have been thinking about this idea for a while but thought i'd just find out if you guys thought it was a bad or good idea: I want to start my own business, sort of like an anne summers/Virgin Vie party but for weddings. I will come to your house with wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, dresses for the guests, shoes, hats, hair pieces ect ect. So everyone can have a try on and a few drinks and enjoy themselves like girlies should before a wedding :) The best part about it is all wedding dresses I will be selling will be at a fraction of the shop prices. I'm hoping more like £350 for a gorgeous dress instead of the shops £1000! Let me know what you think and any ideas you wish to add. I have worked in a wedding shop and modelled for wedding catalogues so do have a real interest. Resolved Question: Is it normal for a four week old baby to still be sleeping most of the day? Should I feel guilty?

My baby will officially be one month old this evening. He is still sleeping most of the day and then whining and squirming throughout the night. Is this normal at this age? He will wake up crying when he is ready to eat and sometimes cries after eating (I am assuming this is due to gas). When he is woke he usually wants to be held. If I am busy or don't feel like holding him I will put him in his swing or bouncer. Honestly, it kind of gives me a chance to relax when he's asleep but I often wonder if I should make more of an effort to keep him up. Is he missing out on learning (by observation) because he's always sleep? He will usually sit there or fall asleep but otherwise, if he is awake and not in the swing or bouncer, he wants to be held. He doesn't want to lie in the pack and play. He doesn't want to lie on the bed. He wants to be held. If I try to put him down he cries. I don't mind holding him and although people say you can't spoil a newborn, I disagree to some degree. I think they will begin to realize that if they cry you will pick them up (after putting them down). He is obviously still mixed up with night vs. day. At night he turns into a different baby. He cries, whines and hasn't sleep a complete night in his pack in play (which is in our bedroom) or his crib (which is in his room at the front of the house ... we would sleep in the guest room to be next to his room). For the most part he will sleep in the pack and play during the day, but there's something about the night time that throws him off. As a result, he has been sleeping in our bed for most of his life and it is driving me nuts. Last night was a nightmare as usual. I get so frustrated when evening comes because I know what to expect. He usually sleeps no longer than an hour to an hour and a half (sometimes shorter) during the night. He is wide awake while he's crying but will often fall asleep five to ten minutes after cradling him in your arms. I feel horrible as a new mother because I get so frustrated at night. All the up and down with making bottles, changing diapers and trying to get him to sleep in the pack and play (or get him to fall asleep in our bed for that matter) is so exhausting. By the time he finally settles down and I settle down to go to sleep it's time to get up and start all over again. I am off work right now but my husband has to get up at 4 a.m. and be to work by 5 a.m. so I try to handle things on my own. Somtimes he will hold the baby while I'm fixing a bottle but I find myself being so overwhelmed at night. Is it normal for me to act this way? Sometimes I feel like crying. Between comments from my mother ... "He's STILL sleep? You need to wake him up! He's gonna keep you up ALL night!" (in a sarcastic tone) and my mother inlaw ... She told my husband, "You all are the only people I know who are trying to force a newborn baby out of your bed. You slept with us as a baby and you didn't have any problem sleeping alone when you got older! " ... I am really starting to resent both of them for constantly butting in our business and giving unsolicited advice (and for getting upset that I am not doing things they way they would or they way they think I should). I doubt we're the only couple who doesn't want our baby sleeping with us. I simply don't believe in co-sleeping. more

I have a 2 year old yorkie. We've just moved from a large house w/ hard floors into an apartment with carpet. He's never lived with carpeting before & that transition was harder for him than i thought. He really loved our old house...i could let him out freely bc it was in the country & watch him from the window while he did his business & came back to the door. A big mistake i made from birth was to let him roam around the house freely during the day while we were gone. Now, since we have carpet...i'm having him stay in the guest bathroom during the day. It's a very large bathroom w/ a linen closet. I put his food & water in this closet next to a little bed for him...he likes that area a lot. The rest of the bathroom is for him to play with toys or potty...but this is the part that goes wrong. He's gone into the cabinets (which i'm getting baby proofers for) and taken everything out. Gotten into medicine & shredded up toilet paper. He's just tried to destroy everything possible. Now he's started gnawing on the door frame & ripping wallpaper. I'll be putting a baby gate up instead of closing the door so that he feels connected to the rest of the place. Also i'm getting a radio to put on during the day so he doesn't feel alone. Is there anything else I can do to make him more comfy? He's not alone for long. Only about 8 hours at a time...which i'd think is the usual for any working class household. Happy New Year to everyone. Today I want to ask you whether he is stingy or I am wrong. Judge it, please. Any opinion is welcome, as long as they have good heart to answer. Sorry in advance, I am not English speaker, so it may not be good English. (My boyfriend is Canadian, middle 30's. He has his own business, always busy traveling. I met him in 2008 late May.When we go out together, he pays all.) I feel he is stingy. For example when he calls me, he will hang up the phone intentionally and lead me to call him back. Some are after 7,8 seconds talk and hang up suddenly, others are like one-ring and hang up before I answer. Even after I told him to stop that, he continued. Such things often happened. That's why I sometimes don't like to pick up his call, it makes me feel bad. Then it's better to call him than pick up calls. Another example, now I live in a kind of guest house (like dormitory). No man admitted to enter even brothers. Oh I must explain this first. We planned to buy an apartment with a view to marriage in the first place, it was in late April 2009. He said he will get one in cash as long as the price is within a set budget. That’s why I contacted a real estate agency, visited 8 apartments while he was in abroad to secure the fund for it. Unfortunately he never came back… He had postponed return date 4,5times even though he said each time “Please believe me this is final”. After several delay, he said he invested most of his earnings in business, so we must wait till get funds again. It was maybe late October or early November. Then I suggested to him to rent an apartment for now, to start living together and get married. You know, money is the first consideration to do something in real life. So I told him to send money first for securing apartment, then he started worrying about deposit and key money. Of course I must avoid unnecessary expenses, so I was looking for one with no key money and refundable security deposit. Anyway he didn’t send money eventually, even after I found “No key money, No deposit” apartment. It makes great sense to think he is not interested in living together and marriage. What’s worse is that he started to say he will stay at my place in secret! I told him that I can’t do that, you can’t come, because I don’t want to break rules and cause a thing, so if we live together, we should make a contract for 2 in another place. Then he said “That’s bullshit”, cursed at me and hung up the phone. I was speechless. If he’s a student, I can understand his remarks a little bit. Why can middle-aged man say that? The upshot is that he won’t come to Tokyo unless I all prepare the apartment for two. I can’t help thinking he just expects a free ride, doesn’t want to spend money. On the other hand, he keeps saying that man is meant to take proper care and responsibility of his spouse all the time, also keep saying that his dream is to live together as soon as possible to start enjoying best marriage and family life with me. (Almost copy and paste) What is responsibility, what is proper care? Marriage is not play house. Of course there are various types of marriage these days, But I am a quite typical and conservative Japanese-minded person. I told him, I want to be a housewife after marriage. In my view, it is husband’s obligation to take care of wife and children both mentally and financially. We formed a consensus through discussions when I met him in Bangkok in mid-September. He has been saying that he’ll do when the time is right. One year has passed. Time is now. If someone doesn’t do it now, someone never will. Honestly, I don’t know what he really wants to do with me. If he needs time to stay single or time to work alone as in past years, I can give him, it doesn’t matter at all. The problem is this. He has been always about to do, but has never yet begun it. He’s all mouth. To my regret I fully believed his words. If I were man who’s thinking about marriage, I will introduce her to my family first, buy or rent an apartment within few months at the latest, also set the date for wedding. and his new girlfriend are doing something behind his back. Don't know what for sure but he has been coming over late. As a favor I let my brothers girlfriend stay in our two bedroom mother in law back house. One of my employer has been staying in one of the bedrooms because of hard times. Maria told me she seen Spencer sneaking out of the house as she was walking from our house. (Maria and I are caterers and work late nights cooking baking etc.) My step brother does not like me and quite frankly has been starting a lot of trash talking because I have had my personal issues with Nicky for dressing very very sexy. My mom and I moved in my grandmother's 3 bedroom one story house. All females. My grandmother, my mom and my aunt. I'm the only male (mid-teens). When we moved in my mom took the guest bedroom and said i'll be sleeping with my grandmother. One night my grandmother was coming to bed and started changing. She became topless until she put on a shirt. I didnt feel uncomfortable I just didnt see it coming. I just continued watching the tv. The same morning I got up and took a shower. Our bathroom is a walk-in connected to the room(real big). When I was finished I stepped out the tub and starting drying myself. I didnt notice my grandmother walking into the walkway until she pass in front of me going to clean the the bathroom sink. She pretty much saw everything but she just minded her own business, like i did when she was changing. Right their i felt if she was comfortable and so was I, then just continue what i was doing. It is basically like the parties where someone dies and a party guest must figure it out. Ok, it will be in a tourist city such as Miami, Las Vegas, ect... Anyway, it is where you come in and pay $15 dollars for one game that lasts about 2 and a half hours, OR $45 dollars for the overnight game(without food, $60 for food and ticket) that starts at 8 and ends at 8 the next morning. Someone gives you two cards, one to reveal to others, and one to keep to yourself. They then move you into a waiting room where you mingle with others. The first reveal card tells you who your character is. You are to tell it to others as you mingle with them. Your conceal card tells you who you really don't like and really do like and why you don't or do. When there are 16 people in the waiting room, you are moved into the castle-like house where the game will happen. The host then comes in, welcomes everyone, tells everyone to enjoy the party and leaves. As people continue to mingle, the host passes out the next group of cards. There are again two: conceal and reveal. The conceal will tell most people to stay alert, but it will tell few to do something that will start the game. The game goes like this with 5 rounds of cards being passed out(in a regular game, 10 in a nightlong game) until at the end everyone meets in the kitchen to make their guesses. I'm 20 years old lady. I started working at target a year ago. main reason was, wanted to get experience. I always gave to my mother more than half-money I earned. I Couldn't think about saving , ignoring that she need to pay bills to support us, we were moving to a new house. (she have section 8) I'm a college student, tap and fafsa pay my tuition, they also give me work-study. Last year per semester they gave me $2,300 for my expenses.( Money I used to buy my bedroom furniture) my scheduled at target was from 3:15 to 12:00 AM so my GPA start to fall. In one of my classes I Prefer F Instead of a D- but kill my GPA completely because I have to wait for this semester to re take the class.So I hang-up n probation.Though I have work-study I decided to come back to target, why? I love target! I love to help ppl! My mom was pushing me so much, shes the kind of person that have to see someone killing themselves to believe they are doing something in life. . I understood those days when she felt on pressure paying bills & is not easy to support two kids working-herself.But she can't expect me to work this routing schedule while going to college for a better future. The reason why I don't work more hrs on target its because I'm dependent and if I work more than $3,000 a year it would affect Section 8 but in the other hand I'm loosing $6,500 just to study and do well at college. I tried explain that not because she needed to work that way I have to waste this opportunity live is giving to me. I am working on realising my lifetime ambition to run a small guest house in the West Country. I currently work as a self employed business consultant for the licensed economy so could be based from anywhere in the UK to continue this. I have 2 houses with mortgages (equity of about £80k) so although not a good time to sell, it is a good time to buy, being able to take advantage of lower prices and also to make sure that completion takes place before the start of the 2010 season. ok i'm still knew at this kitten business and I live in an apt, and the kitten was pretty young like 6 weeks when my son who stopped at a friends house for a couple of beers after work, came home and brought with him a present for me, the "Kitten" YEAH!!!! he was like I was going to bring you a couple but here's this one,,,well I was in shock, probably still am, but were making it work and god bless her she couldn't be more sweeter, however, I put the liter box in the dinning room, ( I live alone ) and in fact the dinning room has kinda been my office, it's an open apt , ya know where the living room , dinning room and kitchen are all open in here and then a bathroom and then there's the bedroom with a huge walk in closet and then another normal closet behind there,,,,( now that I've given you the layout of my apt) see I put the liter box where I could see her and ya know make sure she was going in it...and she hasn't really been in the bedroom that much, I'm recovering from surgery and sleep out here in the living room,, (THANKS FOR YOU PATIENCE SO FAR ) so it would be ideal for me to move the liter box back into one of the closets there very clean and organized etc....but I tried to do it like last week and she went in it when I picked her up because I saw her sniffing around then I sat her in it and she went well then I went back there later and there was poop on the floor but not in the liter box, and the weird thing was is it was pretty close about a foot away....so I don't know if she was just confused etc,.,,,,so does anyone after reading my novel here know how I can make the transfer to the back closet???? And especially before Thanksgiving, because right now it's like you walk in the door and baam there's the liter box, which I keep it clean but ya know, I don't want us all eating and then (WOW) and for a little kitten she's probably on the same level as a grown man...what is up with that??? so should I start leaving the door open to that room more? Or just inching it back there like a foot or two a day lol...HELP please? I don't want my guests to have to eat on top of the liter box....well maybe my mother in law JK lol.......I meant my EX-mother in law anyways ......thanx in advance.....I'm so sorry, I tend to do that,,,,ramble and ramble I think I'm thinking out loud and just typing what I"m thinking lol,,,so so sorry more

Resolved Question: Am I over-reacting or is my mother completely over the line?

So, my mum has been acting like, well, not very nicely. We've never REALLY gotten along for more than a month. I'm nineteen and currently doing a Cert 4 in Youth Work, a Diploma in Christian Ministry and an Internship at my church, all at the same time. I am also engaged. I spend hardly any time at home because I'm currently busy. Anyway, tonight I was doing something for a camp that I'm leading on the weekend and my mum comes up to me and says 'I need your laptop now.' By my laptop, its my fiancee's and my laptop that was bought with OUR money. I said to her, 'You cant just demand to use my laptop.' And then she started screaming about how it was for her business and she needs to use it because .. I don't even know, but she was screaming. I replied 'I don't care whether you use it but you cant just say that you are going to take it. You need to ask.' She replied with, 'You do F*$# all! All you do is sit on that laptop and you never empty the recyling bin!' - so to be honest I was sitting there going - the recylcing bin, what does that have to do with anything?- but whatever. She continued going on about how I lack all sense of responsibility and don't care about anyone but myself. As she was saying this I was logging of the laptop to sign in to the guest for her. And then she says 'Don't even worry about it, you selfish little cow!!' Anyway, so I was in tears and called my fiancee and I was whispering about what happened and she was in her room but suddenly she comes to me and starts screaming; "You have no right to whinge about what I said to you!' etc, etc. Which is slightly ironic because when I came home this afternoon I got to listen to her bitch about me to my grandma for a good 15 minutes before she realised I was there. Anyway, is she completely over the line or am I over-reacting. I don't feel Iike I'm over reacting. Also, I hate that she calls me irresponsible and selfish when I spend atleast 12 hours a week volunteering as part of my internship and I'm completing two different courses as well as maintaining friendships and my relationship. And planning event after event. I just don't know what to do. I finish the Youth Work course in Dec but before that time I have no money. And even then I plan to get a job, but we would like to money to go towards saving for a house. Also, my partner is an electral apprentice and on quite a bit but he lives at home and we don't believe in living together until we're married, which will be September next year. I guess I'm just looking for insight and ideas.Taylor, she does, its just crap and she couldnt open a document or something. I wouldn't have even cared if I wasn't currently on it. more

Resolved Question: Rescued dog's behaviour has become worse, what do I do?

I rescued a German Shepherd cross from a house where it had been tied up since being a puppy. She was a year and a half old. We have had her for six weeks. To begin with she was pretty good and we rewarded her good behavior but in the last week she has started finding hidden places in the house to do her business, refusing to eat her food every morning but digging holes under the fence to get into the garbage of next door and will not be disciplined with a stern no. She was so timid to begin with and we were encouraging and loving but now we can't stop her jumping up. We taught her to sit and lie down using rewards but she won't show any of these behaviours unless the rewards are 'sniffed'. I'm not sure what to do. I walk her and walk her, she has a big yard to run in, I have reinforced the whole fence but she now digs holes under it to get out. Whenever men come to the house she is so vicious and she actually bit one of our guests even though he was with his wife and child whom she ignored. I can't have her in the house when there are people as she just barks and barks, especially if there are men. The first time we turned on the TV she nearly went crazy every time there was a man's voice. I just don't know what to do. I am at a loss to know where to begin or if there is hope for her. more

Resolved Question: Sisters boyfriend psycho unvited and made a show?

My sister brought her boyfriend to my daughers birthday on friday and he started going off on her about taking care of HER kids(2) and he did not want to come(he said this in front of everyone and my guest) than he just took off with HER car and she got dropped off by other guest.. This issue comes when yesterday I spoke to her and told her I dont want you to invite ppl who are univited..I never INVITED her boyfriend in first place and that his not allowed in future events period. I know for a fact she might be mad at me and my mother told me that I did the right thing since,his the one with the issues..he could have told her outside the house or in the bathroom...not be all drama queen about it..anyway that did not ruin the party but,everybody started asking her why shes with that jerk? now all my friends and other family members are talking about that sister with the crazy/jerk boyfriend? Did I do the right thing and tell her his not invited anymore anywhere even in painting where I'm at...and when I told her that she said that his got bipolar..thats a lie..shes making excuses..?? My husband got mad at me and told me that I should mind my own business but,he was not here..he went for a BEER run.So..did I do the right thing before the hoildays before her boyfriend would not other stupid thing...unvited him? more

Resolved Question: Advice please....boyfriend's mom and sister hate me!?

My boyfriend and I are going through a rough patch... I was laid off, and my boyfriend and his father have a company together. The business is going slow, and he has not collected a paycheck in about 3 months. We decided about a few months ago that we should move into my mothers house (she travels a lot with work) so that we could get back onto our feet. When we told his mother about this, she insisted that we move into there guest house, so we did. When we moved in, it was great...we had our own little house, and are saving money like crazy!! Then, the table turned....and his mother became a nightmare along with his sister who is a senior in highschool. At first, his mother, sister and I got along great, but recently it seems like they are out to get me :) After a few weeks of living there, his mother found clothing of mine that his sister has been taking from “our house.” The first time I was a little irritated, but that’s when I told her, if she ever wanted to barrow something just come ask. I guess she took it as if I was mad, and went and told her mom that the only reason she took some clothes was because I barrowed her jeans, so she thought it was ok to just help herself. Well...b4 we moved in, we came over to his rents house for dinner and I had a “girl accident” so I asked his mother if I could barrow a pair of jeans, so she let me barrow a pair of jeans that I gave his sister a week ago. The funny part is when she came home she complimented my jeans, and I told her that these are the ones I gave her, and explained to her that her mother loaned them to me b/c of what happened. Anyways... after his sister went and complained to his mother, his mom came down and had long talk with me about how we girls need to stay out of each others closets, so I explained that the jeans her daughters referring to were the ones she loaned to me way back when. But his mother completely just disregarded what I said and gave me a huge lecture on how I need to respect her daughter’s personal space. Well, to this day she still is coming to “our house” and taking clothes with out asking. My boyfriends’ mother and sister are very materialistic, and with the family business being slow, you need to learn to be more conservative. Well one night my boyfriend starts venting to me about how the girls are constantly shopping, and how its frustrating because he is not receiving a paycheck. He goes up to the rents house, and it’s only his sister and his mother there, so he starts talking about the situation with his mom. Next thing I know, I am receiving a tun of text messages saying how I should stay out of the financial part of their family, and how I am using her son for money! First, I have never asked my boyfriend for anything, and I have stuck by his side through him not getting a paycheck...which he is still owed about 8! My boyfriend comes back to “our house” and is HOT in the head over the situation with his mom and sister talking about me, while he was up there trying to have a “business conv.” I never responded back to the text messages, and my boyfriend and I were distant from his mom and sister for a few weeks. When I think things are getting better, just more things come up...and I am about lose it! I am so madly in love with my boyfriend, and even through these hard times our relationship is GREAT!! I am just scared of me breaking down, and me putting a middle finger in the air and walking out...on the best guy in the world! more

Resolved Question: I found out my mom is cheating on my step-dad?

Here's a little briefing. I'm 20 years old and I live with my mom and step-dad. (I joined the Army just waiting to leave) My dad works out of state with a week on week of sort of thing. My mom works in a bigger city just outside our town. For one thing my mom is super addicted to an online game don't ask I can't figure out why either. Anyway I started to notice she was gone one day for like 2 hours and I didn't ask her why but she was very defensive and came up with a quick excuse about how she forgot to buy dog food a few hours ago.......because as we all know it takes hours to buy dog food. Then after my dad left last weekend to go back to work she didn't come home that night. She works weekend friday sat. sun. and very long hours. I text to make sure she was okay and she said she was staying at a guest house they provide for out-of-towners. Which could be the case but yesterday I stopped by her work and she was very quick to see me and didn't talk for long and kept turning to one side but noticed a little pink spot on her neck.....hmmm. She said she was gunna stay at that guest house last night. So, little detective that I am decided at 2:00 am to drive to see about that. Her car wasn't at the guest house nor was it in any parking vicinity in the area. So basically what I'm asking is, how do I confront her? Do I just say hey I know you're cheating or be like I just happened to be in the neighborhood and saw you were lying to me or be like why is there a hickey on your neck. Idk. Really I guess its none of my business but my step-dad is my DAD and he deserves only the best in everything and this is going to crush him and I can't live with her knowing what she's doing and him having no clue. Voting Question: Help! My 5 yr old cat is peeing and pooping on the floor?

My fiance and I purchased a home and moved in January of this year. Our two cats Stella (8yrs old) and Miss Kitty (5yrs old) had met and spent time together before the move. After the move, Miss Kitty occasionally pooped outside the box, but it was right in front of the box. In June of this year we adopted a Great Pyrenese (110 lb dog). The dog only stays on the first floor of the house. The cats litter box is in the basement (for stink reasons, non burried poo). So the cats like to stay on the second floor so they don't have to encounter the dog. Miss Kitty started pooping and peeing on the guest bed (second floor). We locked her out of that room. Then for two weeks, she goes up and down the stairs on her own to poop and pee. Two weeks later we open that room back up and she does it again. We've totally locked her out of that bedroom. The other day she pooped and pee'd on the hardwood floor. When she is locked out, she will go up and down the stairs to do her business. As soon as we open up part of the house, she poops there again. Our cat has taken over our home. We have all the doors on the 2nd floor closed to prevent her from pooping and peeing somewhere. Making it worse is that this punishes the cat that is being good. We are at our whits end, any help is appreciated!! more

Resolved Question: Our pastor is charging us $200 to marry us but....?

Okay so I am getting married in 3 weeks. My fiance and I have a 15 month old son and we have had some problems....he lost his job in January. But we have been getting back on track, paying all our bills, he started a business, things are looking up for us. As hard as it was, we decided not to spend money on a wedding because there are so many things we really NEED and we decided the only important thing is that we are married. So, we asked the pastor at our church to marry us. We are getting married at 9 am on a Tuesday. Our pastor asked us to come to his house for him to marry us. We will be outside, so we won't actually be in his house. There will be no guests, no dress, no flowers, no music, no sermon, no communion. All we want is to say the vows and for him to say a prayer with us afterward. So he tells us that he usually charges $400 and he will charge us $200. On one hand, it sounds like a fair price, on the other hand, we are taking up less than an hour of his time, he doesn't have to travel anywhere, and the bed we need to buy for our son costs a little more than that. Is there more work than I am thinking to his performing this wedding? Is it really a fair price? I wanted our marriage to be performed by someone who could pray with us, but now I feel like we are paying $200 for a prayer and maybe the courthouse would be better. As far as I can tell, our pastor is a really great guy.yeah except we aren't using the building.oh we are not going to insult him. we didn't say anything to him about it. just may change our plans, that's all. more
