Gibson sues MTV because of Guitar Hero
NASHVILLE, March 22 (UPI) -- Gibson Guitar is suing MTV Networks and Harmonix in federal court in Tennessee, claiming Guitar Hero games violate a patent, the guitar maker said Friday.
Gibson argues the games, which are played with a guitar-like controller that synchronizes with music on a television, are in violation of a 1999 patent for technological devices to recreate a musical act, The New York Times reported.
The Tennessee patent infringement lawsuit comes after an earlier lawsuit filed by Gibson against several companies regarding the 1999 patent, Gibson said.
Fourteen million Guitar Hero games valued at $1 billion have been purchased in North America in the past three years, the Times reported. more

Benihana of Tokyo is a restaurant own by Aoki, he is a Japanese, but he builds his restaurant in New YOrk coz he discovered that Americans love exotic food. He starts as an ordinary person. The walls, ceiling, beams, artifacts and decorative lights of a Benihana are all from Japan. The building materials are gathered from old houses there, carefully disassembled, and shipped in peices to the U.S. where they are resembles by one of his father's two crew of Japanese carpenter. Some restaurant like myself have more fun than others, says AOKI, youthful pres. ofBenihana of Tokyo. Between 1964, when he opened his first location and 1972 he had gone more deficit net worth to being pres. of a chain of 15 restaurants that grossed over $12 million per yr. Benihana was named after a small red flower that grew near the front door of the unit restaurant. Rocky's first unit on the West Side was such a success that it paid 6 months, the 2nd unit 3 blocks away on the East Side simply to cater to the overflow of the benihana West, the 3rd unit is in Chicago had proved to be the largest money maker coz it grossed approximately @1.3 million/year, the 4th unit was in San Francisco and the 5th was a joint venture in Las Vegas in 1969. By 1972, Benihana was basically in steak house wit a difference Aoki borrowed his method of cooking from his father. One of the things that Aoki worried in his analysis was that, number one problems the availability and cost of labor by eliminating the need for conventional kitchen with hibachi table arrangement and the other thing s he discovered is that food storage and wastage contribute significantly the cuerband of the typical restaurant. I finally invest on historical authenticity. When Aoki has unit of Benihana the chefs and the staffs are considered as Key to its success coz they are highly trained. The philosophy of the restaurant roat business is simply to make people happy. Runs carpenters, consultants, and editor for constitution/ volume feeding magazine, sumed up his perception for a two main problems. What is Benihana really selling? The problem of perceptions was shown through different exhibits. And there are 9 exhibits these are the operating statistics for a typical service restaurant, floor plan, organization chart, the costumers thank, summary of the Benihama's marketing philosophy, benihana's of Tokyo advertisement. Two philosophies of the steak, the mission of Aoki. moreVoting Question: What name for our catering business?

A friend in I are looking at starting a small business on the side and then working our way up. We both enjoy planning events, big or small. We both also love to cook. We were thinking about starting something like an event planning business. Something where we line everything up for someone (from booking venues, getting and mailing invitations, catering small parties, and booking caterers for big parties ect...) we figured that if it was local then we could provide food, if not then we can line up someone to do it. We would fit everything into people's budgets, they would just pay us to do all the work for them, and pay the people and places we book for them. We figured that the internet has come such a long way that we could even help people that live far away by communicating through e-mail and phone, and we would do all the research and contacting people for them. I already have some vendors that I communicate with personally and through e-mail that would help out. Do you think this would be something that people would be interested in? You think maybe a gift card to a restaurant would be reasonable? My dj...is also saving us a little bit of money because he is a past coworker of mine...he is charging us $600 for the whole night everything included...he did however make the comment, in a joking/hinting manner "it will be $600 for the night, and if I do a good job you can tip me if you'd like." I am 25 years old and married. I'm starting a course at a hospitality school next month - the course would include - kitchen operations, food and beverage, accommodation and hotel management. I love to cook and I also love decor (especially table decor) but I'm better at cooking than decor (although I love it I dont think I'm very talented at it.) But I enjoy cooking and I'm ok at it I guess. My problem is that I love staying at home ( not in a lazy way!) but our decor is such that its very relaxing and peaceful. I want to become a caterer and I hope to have a small catering business so that I can work from home. My question is should I do all four parts of the course to become a caterer?. Or just do the culinary part of it?. I'm worried that I'll be away from home too much. Or will it be very helpful for my catering business if I do all four parts? Going to finish school and at least get a bachelors degree even though it is not a necessity to start a business. I want to start a burrito delivery business. I think this would work very well in a college town like Gainesville/ Tallahassee. I know there is burrito brothers, moes, and everyone's favorite chipotle; but none of them offer delivery to your home, only catering. Now, if you could offer a chipotle style burrito for 6 or 7 bucks and maybe a case of beer as well, i think it is a solid idea. Would there be any stipulations with delivering beer to a college campus or just in general, obviously checking the customers ID would be necessary. I would need insurance for the deliverers as well. Im going to check with s.c.o.r.e about what kind of food/beverage licenses I need. Any comments or suggestions on this idea? I am only 20 and Im a stay at home mom. My only source of personal income is from baking deserts and selling them for parties and such. I specialize in ice cream cakes and cupcakes. I lavishly decorate my work (although work VERY quickly) and use 50 different cake and icing recipes. I have a portfolio of all my work and anyone who sees it is impressed. it started out by baking 300 cupcakes for a cancer benefit that my friend organized and apparently a lot of people asked 'who made these?' and my number was given out. now i cater about one party a week. Usually at only $100 profit. I know that doesn't sound like much but I do NO advertising. I cant because its actually illegal in my state to make anything food related in your own home and then sell it. You need a kitchen somewhere that they can inspect. I tell all my 'customers' that what Im doing is technically illegal so they are just 'tipping me' for my work (about 1.50 a cupcake). They all say I should open a shop but there is already a decent amount of bakeries around here. If I were to start my own business my husband would do all the work to get the shop ready. Do you have to be a qualified chef to cook food outside of a restaurant? moreResolved Question: How do I get started with a catering business & is it worth it?
I love to cook, bake, entertain, do crafty stuff...but I've never had any professional courses. I have a business degree (go figure), but I'm not doing anything in my career that makes me happy; I certainly don't want to get my MBA (Zzzzz...will not make me happy). What would make me happy is staying home to start a very small family with my husband while earning some money doing something I'm passionate about. I'm not looking to become a billionaire, but to contribute toward our future retirement goals is a must. I have so many questions, I'm a little insecure with my lack of experience (outside my personal dinner parties, etc. - how do I compare to others?), and I'm so overwhelmed with how to get started. I'm especially concerned because I'm wanting to sell food items made in my home. I've done research, and it seems that every answer I find, five more pop into my head...it's like I never get ahead of the game enough to actually DO something other than talk about this idea. I live in a small town with little to offer in terms of culinary arts education. When I say "little", I mean "nothing". Plus, I'm worried that this sort of business wouldn't do well, period. I've heard a lot of negatives about any food type of business, but I am willing to work hard if it's worth it. I want to set myself up for success. Any advice helps and is appreciated. moreTop Start Food Catering Business Links
