One coastal area is urging homeowners to prepare, while storm-related businesses are getting busier.
Melbourne's Hurricane Product Warehouse is a one stop shop for all things hurricane protection related.
From shutters to stormproof windows and doors, owners have a wide variety of items for all price ranges. They will custom install the products on any home.
“And it's as simple as that, you've know protected one opening on your home. Multiply that by 10 or 15 openings and you can spend about 10 or 15 minutes to protect your home," said Dave Diana from the Hurricane Product Warehouse.
Meanwhile, the city of Melbourne is offering $500,000 in grant money for qualified homeowners to hire contractors to hurricane proof their investment.
For additional information about the grants, call Melbourne's Housing Department at (321) 674-5734. more

Resolved Question: What are some businesses which does not require my presence, and generate assets?
Hi! I want to own businesses which are run, or managed by others. I do not want it to become a job. However, I have very little money, and want to start somewhere. I just need ideas for brainstorming. Here are some of mine. 1. Vending machines - an expensive, but asset generating business, with very little maintenance. 2. Laundromat - self serving laundry so I don't have to be there all the time. 3. Real Estate - with the recession, now is a good time to buy real estate, and stick to it until the price goes up. Again, self serving, with little liabilities. I need more ideas but somewhere to start. If only I could invest in something, and grow it. I have the ideas from Robert Kiyosaki, but want to start somewhere, instead of waiting for the economy to get me a technical job in my field. Thank you. moreResolved Question: the nurse saw us kissing and i think she told her dad?
ok, my girlfriend Kathryn has been in the hospital for the past 2 days (i wasn't told) so when i found out she was in the hospital i burned up about $30 in gas and stayed with her for 2 hours but when her dad and her little brother John went to go get something to drink i stayed with her (vending machines are on the 1st floor she's on the 5th floor) well i started asking "are you sure you're ok?" since i wasn't told anything, and we started making out but we stopped when we heard her dads extremely LOUD voice. i turned around and saw a nurse in the doorway and i had no idea how long she had been there but she wanted to talk to Kathryn's dad about something (i already knew she was nosy since she looked in my laptop bag when it was on the floor) but when her dad walked back in he looked like he wanted to KILL me. in my opinion the nurse should be fired for getting into people's personal business and making a big deal over it since when i was there John who is 7 years old and farely small was sitting on the side of the bed and she keeps saying how him sitting there could damage her i-v (needle in her arm) but the entire tube connected to the needle was away from him!!! but i swear her dad will kill me the next chance he gets since hes way over protective and pretty much hates me. what should i do since i cant have a single private conversation with her!!! advice??? moreVoting Question: Teens: Do you have adult figures in your life that like to "play mom"?
I have a mom- she is good to me. I even have kind of a pseudo mom already. I have known my karate instructor for years and she never tried to be a mother figure to me- it just happened. We just established a relationship and went from there. She chides me if I tell her I have done stupid a$$ things but never yells or tries to "punish me". She offers advice when I ask for it and when she can tell I REALLY need it. I consider her my "karate mom". I never was looking for this relationship it just found me. I really appreciate it I mean she is the person I call at 2:00 in the morning when I have my emotional meltdowns and my parents are away. She never tried to be my mom which is why I like our relationship so much. But it is so annoying at the animal shelter I volunteer at there is another volunteer who Is now an empty-nester. She is all over me. Like if I order a candy bar from the vending machine she will be all over me about how unhealthy it is. If I get a soda pop she will always throw it away before I am finished (I learned that I should put somebody else’s initials on the can- she won't throw theirs away). She respects me and I respect her- but she is constantly in my business. She gives me long a** lectures on things- like why I shouldn’t try and avoid my family when they come in to stay- or about how I am working too hard and she doesn't want to see me in the shelter for the next 2 weeks so I can take a break. I get all this sh*t from her. I mean I know she must miss having kids but I am 17- I am old enough to make my own choices. But she just thrusts her advice upon me. She will even slap my butt if I am doing something SHE thinks my mom wouldn't approve of- just playfully but that is WAY OUT OF LINE.I don't know this lady- really at all. My karate instructor slaps me upside the head when either I am being incredibly immature or doing something dangerous (but even that she has only started to do this year after knowing me for about 10 years) I am not really asking for advice on how to deal with this lady. But do you have people in your life who try and "play mom" to you?I mean I have only know the volunteer at the shelter for maybe 6months- a year moreResolved Question: What is the best way to start a small business project for little money? After school I want to go to college for business and hopefully become a CEO later on in life. I own a couple of vending machines that has a computer screen on it. You are able to place your business name and products on it in a slide show format. I was thinking about going to different business around my area and see if they would like to buy a slide. I was wondering what would be a good price to start at. The screen is around 12 inches and probably would just have their business name, logo, and phone number on the slide. moreVoting Question: Should I be ashamed about what i told a hadicapped man?
I tried starting a community watch program in my apartment building some time ago, and all was going well until my guys started getting threatened. After being threatened (With a pit bull dog) they would no longer keep watch and where afraid to leave there apartments. I decided I would keep checking the doors hourly to make sure they where all locked. One day I was heading out to the store and a man I know quite well who always sits by the front door stopped me and started telling me I was ignorant and stupid and that I should stay in my apartment and let whoever is vandalizing things do so in peace for my own protection. Now from what I have heard he is a war veteran and he has no legs so he has to use a wheelchair. However being called stupid and ignorant (among other things) pissed me off, So I told him then and there that he was a coward and if he wanted to be a p**sy and hide in his apartment while our vending and laundry machines are taken away because of vandals then he can do so, but from now on to keep his nose out of my business. Now from what I can tell his feelings we're not hurt, we are not and never have been close or anything just friends from seeing each other almost daily, and since he has spoken to me normally as he would any other time so he doesn't seem to have a grudge either. Do you think I was right to tell him off or should I considering his condition have let him trash talk me and ignore him?To sparrow: I started the watch for my families sake, not the vending machines sake. I have a wife and 16 month old girl and if you are desperate enough to rob a vending machine then you are more than capable of going in a house. I wanted the building safe for my girls, if not for them I would have done the same as him and minded my business = ) moreResolved Question: OMG DID YOU KNOW???????

My husband doesn't respect my role in our home . We are married with two young children ages 3 and 6. I am the primary caregiver of the and I am a full time student. We have a vending machine business and I maintain that. ( I keep records , And also stock and maintain the inventory for them) I primarly keep all the bills and accounting in the home, grocery shop, e.t.c. When I don' t agree with him and something financial he tells me that don't worry he pays for everything and it doesn'nt concern me anyway. My husband spends way more than I do. His justification is that he brings all the money in the home so it doesn't matter. He always tells me I don't contribute enough and when I start bring money in then I can talk. I just found out I am pregnant with our third child... I want to be happy but I feel like my husband makes me feel like all I do is cost him money. I feel like all the daily jobs I do if I did them for money I would be rich. I hate the way he makes me feel about not bringing money in the home. I want to find a way to talk 2 him about this situation, and I also want 2 make my own money so I don't have 2 keep hearing this. very confused. Well, the way I got it figured, thanks to people like Bernie Madoff and the rest, our economy tanked. But now the problem is not only do we have a larger national debt, we have millions of Americans unemployed, to which I blame specifically on the automation of jobs. Think about it, what happened to the old auction houses they used to have (E-Bay replaced them), what happened to Circuit City and Comp USA (Both bought out by Tiger-direct), what is now happening to Blockbuster Video (Thanks to things such as Net-flix, Game-fly, etc.)? While online commerce might seem like the technologically thing to do at the moment, we are killing our economy that much faster by relying on them as much as we do. I ain't saying you need to go out and support the local mom & pop stores, as I am a firm believer in the fact that the majority of corporations started out as small business, excelled at what they did, and expanded. They in turn took profits from the mom & pop stores, but employed millions of Americans (An acceptable loss). Everyday we get closer and closer to the complete automation of a majority of jobs, and then people expect Obama to create jobs like they were brownies...you just can't go creating jobs, as if what we are looking to do is to employ people with trivial/unnessesary jobs, we might as well allow the entire US population to apply for food stamps with cash assistance... Most of the jobs that get automated are the lower end jobs, such as customer service jobs getting outsourced to some warehouse company, who only employs a skeleton crew to maintain deliveries, and wind up only making a select few rich, while the rest remain unemployed. I am currently 29, but as soon as I turn 35 I am running for presidency, as the only way to allow the economy to improve is to have people start spending again, which means jobs are needed, which then means we need to limit online commerce as a whole. I am not saying do away with it all together, but allowing it to expand at the rate it is, it is only a matter of time before we put vending machines out of business...I meant to mention, sooner or later the USPS will go under, as email has already paved the way for communication through writing, so all we really need them for is to ship cargo, which would mean much less money back to the federal government. I ain't a fan of our government, but I understand the need to support them by paying taxes, being a productive member of society, etc. If we don't put back in the system, our officers, firefighters, and medical technicians don't get paid, which means layoffs. Now ask yourself, do you really want an automated message telling you to hold for the next available emergency operator?I also meant to mention, I live a pretty comfortable lifestyle, and while I am not rich, I do well. And with what I got, I have had an idea that would honestly probably make me millions if it was to come to fruition, but the honest truth is my idea automates practically an entire industry, and with it would come massive job loss. While the fat cats might love to hear my idea, I would never cash in on it only due to the fact that I would be personally to blame for helping our economy fail that much more. moreResolved Question: Is the vending machine business really profitable....?

okay, im 16, and i have a lot of free time as i do a type of homeschooling, and am almost graduating. i work with my family in their business but its the slow season right now being winter and all. Im 18 and have constanly been reading and listening to books about passive income, via various streams, and have decided maybe to start a small question thread here to post ideas and also ask for ideas from the community so we can all benefit from one another's ideas. Basically the idea is to own a business that makes you money while you do nothing, so you dont physically have to make the money yourself. Some of my ideas include things such as: Coin Operated vending machines (i have heard however that these are becoming increasingly harder to make money off of as although there are always locations, the returns are not necessarily incredibly huge, and finding locations and emptying/refilling the machines as well as collecting the money do take some time.) Coin operated laundry machines. (laundromat) i love this idea because you can make the business on your own so finding the locations is no problem at all, and the returns are likely better than the vending machines as well. also, these could be used in your rental properties if you use those for passive income too. Rental properties i love this idea for the fact that if you get educated in real estate, you can get better deals than the average guy resulting in less headaches and loss if you happen to have problems with tenants. i love the idea of charging more than the mortgage cost so as to get payed monthly, as well as having your tenants essentially buy you a property over a certain amount of time. everyone buys where they live, it's just a matter of if someone is buying where they live and instead of keeping it for hemselves, basically giving it to you. Advertisements i know there are companies who will pay you by the month/year etc to place a small (or large who knows) advertisement on your vehicle for their business. if you have 2, 3, 4, or even just one vehicle, wouldnt it be smart to do this even if you dont really drive it? i know there are some however who pay based on the milage accumulated, but still if you are getting payed to drive somewhere you actually have to go anyways, i think thats pretty cool Blogging this is not for me but ive read that many people who have blogs or are internet savvy can make even small residual incomes for just creating a blog. this does take initial startup time and you obviously have to write the blogs, but you still make money while you sleep. Business if you can own a business that makes money without you being there. if you can make enough profit to pay a manager to manage instead of you, once the building is payed off (you have to own the property obviously), there you go. another twist on this would be a car wash, because you could own the car wash and the land, and eventually when you have payed it off, will reap the full profits, have been payed for the past so many years anyways from that car wash, and have barely ever done work or needed to be there to sustain it. I know there are thousands of other ideas out there. Got any in mind? Also a self serve gas station.Self-storage facility people store their own stuff in your space, you never have to be there, and you make moneySelf-storage facility people store their own stuff in your space, you never have to be there, and you make money moreResolved Question: I am a teenager who wants to start a coin machine business to make money (preferably). I am a 14 year old boy who is saving up for a new computer. My parents don't like me asking for money so I am thinking about starting a coin machine business. Also, I have $350 and I am willing to invest that money to buy a machine but that is where I am unsure. I am not sure weather to buy a pinball machine, a candy vending machine or something that people will be attracted to, outside of the box. Im now a sophomore chemical engineering major (subject to change). I go to most of my classes, study every day for everything, do every assignment, get a tutor for things i dont understand, even talk to my TA/Profs and i still manage to pull a C at best in my Engineering/math/science classes. Im taking Portuguese and managing to get an A in it since its not as intense as those. I tired other areas and hated them (like intro psych, business, and intro bio which really wasnt intro bio imo but w/e) and nearly failed them. thats only half of the story. I have had bad luck with whatever college roomates that ive had. everyday new drama with them and its just sucks. Then I got in trouble with the school two of my professors accused me of plagiarism and also when the security accused me of vanalizing a vending machine (i only kicked it once btw but thats another story). As a result, im on social probation which means I cant join any campus groups or anything. bascially forced to stay in my room 24/7 except for class and dinner, cant do anything socially at the school. so basically, i just need advice as to what to do. I mean i got into chemical engineering in the first place to do pharmacy or premed but that quickly went down the drain since my grades suck. i still want to do pharmacy but idk what to major in or what classes to take. Everyday since i started college was a big bowl of unnecessary drama, been on academic probation a few times too. can someone help me out P.S. I basically dont enjoy anything about college at all. I take it a permit is NOT needed, because of the First Amendment? This would be for a FREE machine, nothing for sale.I found this site. http://www.nyc.gov/apps/311/allServices.htm?requestType=service&levelOneId=957BF618-04F6-11DE-AC9C-EF5AFBC474DE&levelTwoId=957BF618-04F6-11DE-AC9C-EF5AFBC474DE-9&levelThreeId=957BF618-04F6-11DE-AC9C-EF5AFBC474DE-9-1&serviceName=Newspaper+Box+Information+and+Registration&finalSubLevel=3&intentId=E9E66310-8137-11DE-8E9F-96DAE110FEB8 Seems it's free to place them, but paperwork and insurance are needed. I'm still considering it. moreResolved Question: Does anyone have a inventory/restocking form for vending business?

Me and my family have a vending business that's been going for just over 2 years. I want to start up three separate companies. A vending business (pop and snack machine service), an online market place (selling men's personal care products), and a production company (producing films/documentaries). I'm not sure how to go about creating these three separate entities. Would I create one "parent" company.. than form three separate DBA's for each respective company? Or should I just create three separate companies with no ties what so ever? Also, what sort of company should I formulate ie; LLC, INC etc. At the moment, my intentions are just get the ball rolling. It would be easy to spend millions starting up three ventures like this, however capital/investments are an issue (I've saved up a couple grand which I'm hoping is enough to cover all the licensing/business start up fees/and legal help). I want to get all the necessary paper work/licensing/legal issues out of the way now, so in the future, I can spend my time investing and bringing these businesses to life. I also live in Cleveland, Ohio if that makes any difference. I would appreciate any help.. I'm excited to have made the decision to pursue my dreams, however i'm a bit overwhelmed on how to actually do it right. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Need A Small Business loan of $6500 with bad credit. Any Ideas?
This morning had a small vending machine business idea that popped into my head. Did the research and realized in order to start it i would need just $6500 dollars. Problem is bad credit technically i could save money to get it but the problem is i would be selling a unique product to a very special clientele that i know for a fact will devour the inventory (as i am one of them) also found that i may be able to sell the product for LOWER than the price in retail stores but all it takes now is for some one else to figure this out and it goes to the first one with the idea and the money. This is a slam dunk guarantee with a very small investment. Any ideas how i can get funding? moreResolved Question: starting a vending machine business?

Im looking to possibly start a vending business. Im looking at putting outbulk candy, soda, snacks etc. I have been in the route business 15 yrs ago with a cookie route. I know vending is a much different business. The route that I owned was a protected area and I was the only person allowed to sell that product in that area. With vending I know thats different. My problem is I dont have the money to buy an exixting route and would have to start it up from scratch. My questions are what are the best machines to start with( candy, soda etc)? Do you have to pay for locations? Really I would like to know the workings of the business moreResolved Question: Girls, would you invite a guy somewhere if you didn't plan on bringing him along in the end?
Well, there's this girl that me and my female friend knows since we all do a parttime job together. She's a pretty friendly and outgoing person (we can easily joke with each other and stuff). Before we leave work, we have to go to the locker rooms to change to our casual clothes. Basically I finished first (since I'm a guy) and waited for them so we can walk out of work together and then split. While the girl walked out with my female friend, she invited her to go to the mall. My friend said she could go if the girl actually asked her ahead of time (so basically my friend isn't going and I didn't know the girl invited her until I asked my friend later). So they meet up with me at the spot where I was waiting. Some employees walk by so instead of us three going, my friend talks to them a bit. The girl then starts fiddling with the vending machine buttons (she didn't insert any coins) and then asks if I wanna go to the mall with her. I would've said yes but I had business to do so I couldn't go. I just stayed silent and then she got a phonecall from someone (sounded like a friend calling and I think the girl is going to the mall to buy her friend a bday gift from what my friend said later) and after the call, I asked who else was going. She then said something like, "no one is going, I was just saying nonsense". I was like, "Huh, if that's the case, why even ask?" in my mind. I didn't put much thought into into it anyway because I knew I couldn't go. I'm kind of thinking if she was messing with me (for what reason?) or if her friend called and cancelled the mall shopping stuff or not or is there something that I'm missing here. She teases me from time to time but if this was a tease, I don't really think it's funny considering that if I actually said yes, I wanted to go with her. Me and my friend walked her to the subway while she was talking on the phone. Did they the girly holding hands farewall while she just looked at me and smiled before leaving to the subway. So my question is, would you actually do this to a guy friend if you never intended on bringing him along? Maybe she feels disgusted in me? lol Would also like to know if this is considered a good, neutral or bad event that happened between us. Thanks. moreResolved Question: can you charge/sue package deliver people for messing up your property?

I recently quit my job that paid $14.22 an hour, & started a very small vending machine business. not sure how much i'll be making/month but now I need $50,000 in a year or less, (It would be best to have it ASAP!) & was wondering how I can generate that? any ideas? I have an entrepreneurial mentality & am pretty much open to hearing what you guys have to say, thank you & May god bless your life & circumstances. I suggest you pray right now for everything in your life, your loved ones, your finances etc.. Also, yo don't get to heaven by "good works or good deeds" you get there by Believing Jesus Christ is God & that he came here & died on the cross for your sins. After you admit that out loud, & pray to god & accept Jesus Christ as your God, than you are 100% for sure going to heaven. And for more on that type in "Romans Road" on google & click on any of those links, read whats in there it literally will take about 2 minutes to read. take care! & god bless! moreResolved Question: How can I start a vending machine business?
