City will focus on keeping businesses

Keeping Stow businesses from moving to other municipalities for financial advantage remains a key initiative to the city's plan for economic development.

"We need to spend a lot of time on retention," said city of Stow Mayor Karen Fritschel. "Seventy-five percent of [economic] growth nationwide comes from retention. We're trying to be proactive, making the process of businesses going through planning and commission [as quick as possible.]"

Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry and the Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce hosted an economic development forum July 23, addressing the topics of keeping business in the community, facilitating economic growth and improving the use of city resources.
