Eating healthy when dining out is getting easier

Like Rock Creek, some restaurants are building their business around a more healthful model. Seasons 52, which has five locations in Florida and two in Atlanta, Georgia, takes a lighter approach to dining by featuring fresh foods that rotate with the seasons and dishes that contain a maximum of 475 calories. The chefs do this by taking out fat, lowering sugar and salt when possible, and relying instead on flavorful accents such as balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, and fruits. "We call it 'palate distraction,'" explains Clifford Pleau, director of culinary development. "If you can give the mouth something else to focus on, it says, 'Wow! "Well, it really hasn't had that much impact on us, because we have been paying starting employees at more that minimum wage for quite a while now," Russell Johnson, Manager for La Casa Verde Nursery, said.

La Casa Verde Nursery has been paying more than minimum wage to make sure they keep their employees. At any time, they have anywhere from 10 to 15 employees on the job.

"We do want to attract quality employees and we do realize our employees do have to make a living and they have families to feed and their expenses, whether it's gasoline or groceries have gone up, so we have to pay more than minimum wage and have for quite a while," Johnson said. more

Open Question: How do you think the interview went for me?

About less than the first half of the interview consisted of answering questions, but I feel as though I did not leave the impression I wanted to; not because I didn't know what to answer, but because the first thing that came out of my mouth seemed to be satisfactory to the woman so she continued onto another subject/question until finally telling me what I'd be doing, what their hours are, all about the business, and if I would have to leave a two weeks notice at my job. After the interview, she seemed pretty pleased but let me know she did have another two people to interview but that she would definitely be giving me a call with her decision within 10 days. I feel neutral; like mentioned earlier, I feel I did not leave the impression I would have liked, but only because she seemed satisfied with the first thing that came out of my mouth. Based on my resume, she said I have exactly what they're looking for. What worries me is that my best friend's mother says they need someone urgently, and I think since I am employed, they would probably offer it to someone else who could start working immediately. I know my boss at my current job wouldn't make me wait the two weeks, especially since it's a great opportunity for me, so I hope that won't ruin my chances of getting hired. My friend's mom also said they told her I was the only one with what they were looking for on the resume, so I want to know what you think the outcome of this would be AND how long should I call to ask if she has made her decision and to thank her for the opportunity either way? Interview was yesterday morning and they said I'd be notified within ten days. more

The board of directors answered to this with a slight frown and show of dissapointedness while looking at the boy. “Uhhhh, w-w-well, I’ve come today to talk to you about our island” Jamie said shakily, his hands began to sweat and his mouth was as dry as a desert. Before Jamie could continue, one of the US politicians, a woman named Terra Clarke interrupted him, “Don’t be so nervous, relax yourself” she said trying to comfort the boy. “Thanks, uh ok now...” but just as Randall was about to begin his speech their was a bright light coming from underneath the door and a deafening, booming sound. The entire board threw themselves under the table as the comm link exploded, Jamie didn’t know what was happening, it scared him, he looked at the table legs wobble and finally give way, the table crashed onto his head, immediately knocking him unconscious. 10 minutes earlier… “How is the reactor doing?” Nathan asked his assistant as he walked into the islands’ reactor core. “I’ll check in a minute, I’m just in the middle of some calibrations” said Nathan’s assistant, Andrew. “Hmph, I’ll do it myself then” Grunted Nathan, “Well….that’s….strange…” he said surprised, “What? Resolved Question: My fiancee cheated on me with my best friend!! Advice?

Im 29 and was with my ex fiancee for 6 years, engaged for 2, we also have a 4yr old son together. My ex fiancee was the woman of my dreams and i lived to be next to her, every time i seen her i fell more and more in love with her, everyone knew that. She always takes my breath away and i always felt so proud to be with her, i was over the moon when she was pregnant with our son. Last month i found out that my close friend -who is married with 2 kids- and my fiancee were having a affair which had been going on for two months, she told me about it, as soon as i found out i couldn't even look at her and left her. When i found out i lost the head and punched the wall, i started screaming at her and i found it hard to look at her my heart is broken. She was crying hysterically saying she is so sorry and that she needs me begging me not to leave, her body was shaking and she was screaming at me not listen to her & not to leave, i never seen her like that before. My old friend that she slept with, i also work with him but mostly in different parts of the country and we don't speak anymore, every time i see him i wanna put him in hospital. Every time i went to pick up my son my ex would try talking to me but i didn't wanna hear it & i turned on her and told her to f*ck off, now when i pick up my son she makes sure she isn't there and i don't really see her anymore and as stupid as it seems i miss her like hell. CHAPTER ONE Have you ever walked into a room, and felt like someone, or something, was watching you? I had been feeling that way for a long time now. Everywhere I went, it felt like something was watching my every move. It was taking note at everything I did, and surprising me. Last weekend, I lost my car keys. I looked everywhere in the house. I looked on my dresser, first. It seemed like the sort of place where I threw everything. Then I looked in the living room. Then the kitchen. I walked back in my room, and on my desk, sat my car keys. I did a retake at what I just saw. I figured I must be losing my mind, until the next day. That day, when I had driven down to the Minot Public Library. I had an over due book, that was missing. I went there to pay for it, saying it was past the due date and the book was nowhere to be found. The lady looked up at me. She was portly, with red hair curled to her neck and straight bangs. She asked for my library card, and I handed it over to her casually. Once she scanned it, she typed in some kind of code. She pushed her glasses up to the bridge of her nose, while squinting her eyes at the computer screen. "Well, this book was turned in a week ago, right on time. Are you sure you didn't turn it in?" she asked me. "No, I'm positive I didn't turn it in," I had said. I was kind of creeped out. The woman handed back my library card and went on with her business. I walked to my car, slowly. I was trying to remember if I had been to the library at all. I was sure I hadn't gone there at all. "Did either of you turn in my library book for me sometime last week?" I had asked my sister and dad. They both shook their heads no, continuing to eat their spaghetti. My mom was no longer with us, due to her moving away with her true love. Amber and I didn't want a thing to do with her after that. We hadn't spoken since, that was nine years ago. Amber was my sister, loud and bubbly. She was much like me, with the blonde hair and blue eyes, but she put black streaks in her hair. She dressed much different than I, and always put her blonde and black hair into a poof at the back, her bangs hanging forward in her eyes. She didn't always do that. She was very sporty, very into soccer. That all changed when she turned fifteen. She is only one year younger than me, which isn't much. Dad didn't like it much, neither did I, but she threw a tantrum and screamed at us when we begged to differ. "You need to accept the fact that I'm growing up, Dad! And for you, you're just jealous because I'm way more popular than you'll ever be in your sad, miserable, depressing life!" she had yelled, but that was at our old house. My dad said he didn't like the way she was acting and the way she dyed her hair. We moved to Faceland, some very desolate town in Hawaii. It was strange, how my dad just picked us up and left to Hawaii. At first, it was vacation. Now, it was permanent. I didn't think my dad thought it was a vacation in the first place. He packed almost everything we had. When he finally decided to take the Faceland Real Estate job (that he already knew about) he called in a few favors from many moving companies. They flew in our stuff, which must've cost a lot. My dad didn't seem to care. He was rich, anyway. My dad was one heck of a salesman, and a part time best-selling author. He seemed to keep up with us, too. He was always interested in what I was doing. What activities I was in, what good books I've read lately, if I had a boyfriend, if I wanted someone to be my boyfriend. He always wanted to know. It didn't bother me. I liked talking about stuff. When I started school, I didn't know what to expect. First of all, everyone must have the best tan in the world. Second of all, it's Hawaii. I always thought of the beach and tropical fruit and people who wanted to get away. That is how it was, except for the fact that it wasn't so amazing. It was just a place. A very hot place. My smiles were upside down the first week, trying to get used to all the hot weather. When you move from somewhere like North Dakota and you're as pale as snow, it's hard to understand that a place can be eighty degrees year round. North Dakota wasn't all bad, it was just extremely cold. It was cold in summer. The mosquitos were especially horrible in the summer, more so than Hawaii. I know it's hard to believe that last sentence, but I think it might just be true. Faceland High School was just right in front of Faceland Community Beach, that was always crowded with tourists. My dad said there wouldn't be any tourists when summer was over and it would still be warm enough to go there. He made a lot of sense. I can’t even count to 4 y’all and she’s won it that many times. Inducting her here tonight is JamieRKO so put your hands together for her y’all. *applause* JamieRKO: From the moment I signed up for the YWSE, I didn't know what to expect. I figured I'd have a few matches here and there, make some friends and enemies, win a few titles... But I never expected just how much I and the rest of the YWSE would be impacted by the newest member of the Hall of Fame, Jennifer. I remember when we both first started out. I never expected someone to be jumping on me as much as she did. She never let up - always chasing me or whoever else for the title. She is full of that fire, that passion for the business, and you can see it from the moment she steps in the ring. It takes a special person to make it in this business and she has IT. Jennifer and I tore down the house, and without her, there would be no me. She pushed our careers to a sky high, constantly engaging us in matches that no women would have dreamed of being in. Steel Cage matches, Extreme Rules matches, and the ever popular Bras and Panties matches, haha :) While we fought a LOT, we also became great friends after all was said and done. She never lets up or becomes complacent. If there was a match, she wanted to be in it. She lived and breathed for that title and she sure as hell did what she had to do to win. Voting Question: Why wont he commit to her and the kids, one of them actually being his own child?

I know this is very long but I need advice for her ,PLEASE only HELPFUL ADVICE I can give her so my sister who I adore dearly is 30's years old She has 2 boys age 9 and 5 years. (from a previous marriage she divorced at the age of 27) She started a relationship with a man who also had a child of his own, she became pregnant at the age 29 with her 3rd child from this new man she was involved with (Side note: HE was 26 and has his own 5 yr old daughter) anyways fast-forward my sister now has 3 boys a 9,5, and 5 mo, the father of the newborn now isn't so sure he wants to commit...so my sister is now basically 30 years old with 3 children to raise on her own. She claims that she was under the "false" pretense that he was getting ready to start a "blended family" with her... I had to tell her STRAIGHT up that she basically got fooled or lead herself to believe something that wasn't there. Because he is giving her the excuse that he is not ready to commit and settle down but he said he will "be there" for the baby (which he does stop by once a week to see the newborn) I told her the real reason that he doesn't want to commit to you is because, she has her 2 older boys that he doesn't want to have to provide for, also considering the fact that he has his own 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship. And yes her ex-husband does provide for her 2 boys like he should. But I told her there is a huge difference between dating a woman with kids and ACTUALLY LIVING with a woman and her kids...HUGE DIFFERENCE, I also told her just because he's a really good father to his daughter and "nice" to your 2 older boys doesn't not mean he is willing to step in and be step dad. THOSE ROSE-COLORED glasses need to come off! am I right under my assumptions...the guy is now currently 27 years old and if he was to "commit" to her he would have a total of 4 children PLUS her to take care off...I told her if he really wanted to be with you and make it work he would have done so by now especially since she does have a 5 month son by him. I don't want her to sit around and waste her time waiting for him to commit to her because I doubt that that will ever happen. MEN ARE LOGICAL CREATURES, vs women who are run by their emotions which leads into bad choice making and logically speaking it's in his best interest to simply remain the father of her child rather then stepping in and taking her with all "baggage" what do you think of this situation and what advice can I give her??? Voting Question: New small business. Product ideas needed. Targeting the older generation (oap's). Small shop, small town.?

I am wanting to start my own business up in a very small shop in a small county near me. Where all the small local shops are, walking up and down the main road, is swarmed by OAP's, mainly women. So I'm after ideas for products to sell, that would be an eye catcher for Old Age Pensioners. Off the top of my head I can think of items like walking sticks, trolleys on wheels, umbrellas etc. Then all the smaller items like tin openers, dressing/grooming aids, shoe horns, body supports etc. Then a few basic clothing items, shoes, socks, coats, hats. etc. There's so many different types of products that appeal to old people but I wouldn't know what are the best to put into a small shop. OAP's are my target because they are the high majority of people who walk the streets, along with women & their babies. So I really need to find a good wholesaler for the sort of products for OAP's, and figure out which products are best to put into the shop, and which sell the most etc. But I really need help with the ideas please. more

I keep thinking about dying all of the time. I am trying to occupy my thoughts with work and friends, but I am becoming so distant from it. I never really am in the mood to talk to my best friend of six years, but I would hate to lose her as a friend. I just started a job at the mall selling sunglasses. I like my job a lot, but I have social anxiety and that really sets in when I work. I go to counseling but I lie straight to her face. I tell her I am happy and doing well, but I seriously just want to strangle myself with her phone cord every time I talk about my "feelings." I hate when people try to know what I'm feeling. That's none of their business if I want to kill myself or not. I'm not taking medication... nor will I ever. I have come to this theory that you can never cheer up a depressed person. The one thing a suicidal depressed person wants, they can never have. I feel like I am going crazy little by little every day. Depression and schizophrenia run heavy through the women in my family. I have even had family members locked up for having mental breakdowns. My mom has even gone to a mental facility for depression. I don't want to end up crazy and in some psycho ward for the rest of my life. If I know I will be miserable my whole life, then why can't I kill myself off? I kind of see it as a mercy killing. Why does society see something wrong with suicide, but have no problems killing unborn babies? I mean it's not like I'm killing something else. I would just be taking my own self out of the picture. What's one less person anyway? When I try to talk to my mom about suicide she tries to guilt trip me and that just makes me mad. Resolved Question: Do I need to apologize to my mother in law?

Almost every baby has a "fussy time". My 6 month old daughter chooses to scream and cry and be loud at 3 in the morning pretty much every morning. Money's tight, so hubby and I are living in his parents basement. There's 4 unused bedrooms in this house, but we chose the basement because it's more like a studio apartment (minus the kitchen). So we have no privacy at all. I'm a breastfeeding mom, and I'm fairly modest. My mother in law always likes to watch when I nurse Karla, and it irritates me. She speaks Spanish, and I speak English, so there's a little bit of a language barrier between us. I've told her many times though that it makes me uncomfortable when she watches me feed Karla. Like every other mom, I get frustrated when I can't get Karla to be quite. 3 o'clock this morning, Karla was crying, my husband was asleep and I was wide awake and tending to her needs (as best as I could). She wouldn't take the breast, she wasn't gassy, I changed her diaper... still, nothing! She's a high risk medical baby, and my mother in law knows this. She always thinks that Karla has gas, or she's in PAIN! She has a liver disease, and her liver was operated on back in November, so there would be no way she's in pain. (turned out she wanted me to snuggle with her) 3 am, Karla cries, hubby's mom came running down the stairs like the house was on fire! She immediately jumped in and started telling me how to parent my own baby. I hate that! I've told her before to mind her own business when it comes to that. Karla's my only baby, and she'll be an only child, so I get one time to do the whole parenting thing. I didn't want my mother in laws advice, but she wouldn't shut up! So I got up and walked to the bathroom (and locked the door). Karla was still crying, so my MIL grabbed the bathroom key and opened the door as I was trying to give Karla the breast. I got so mad and I lost my temper... (with a crying baby in my ear, it was very easy to loose control) and I yelled at her! I said "eff you, leave me alone" I feel bad for it, but the bloody woman wouldn't let me do the mom thing!! She raised 2 of her own, then she raised her other granddaughter. Now she wants to raise this one, and that ain't happening! I feel better now that I put her in her place. *There's no possible way that she'd kick me out of her house. She knows if she did that, then she'd never see Karla again. And I'll be moving into an apartment in less than 6 months. I'm a 24 yr old guy from Mumbai and am into business ever since the past 7 years. Well when i was around 17 yrs old i joined merchant navy and qualified as a second office on board and then started my business. 7 years ago I had an american girl friend who was suffering from Cerebral Palsy and she could barely move around and i made sure that when she was in india everything best would be right at the moment. I did all the therapies for her possible and there was a major improvement that one could see. She started walking for atleast 15 mins a day with a limp and could also move out of the house freely. Months down the lane there was an excellent improvement in her and her fingers and hands opened up and she could write better too. Well alot of people told me that i am not doing a good thing by engaging my self with a girl like that. However my thinking was that human is a human and there's no doubt about it. So i got engaged to that girl and we were living in Mumbai. Well according to our Indian customs we believe that we're not allowed to (have sex / make out) before marriage and that is what i was following. So we never made out and didnt even talk about sex. One day i took her out to clubbing with my friends whom she knew very well. In the club i really didnt realize what was going on in her mind. My business schedules are so tight that i get to sleep only on Saturday's and Sunday's, and just to mess out with me she'll purposely turn out loud music all over the house and start bang crash. I cannot even divorce her as 49% of all my market shares and property is on her name single handed and unconvertible. Well i've seeked for attorney help through the High Court but i do not think anything will happen for the next 4 years. Now recently i got in touch with another girl on a chat server programme and she lives around 600-700 miles away from me. I told her about my situation and also that i was looking around for a person who could really understand my situation and could be with me in all ways. It so happened out that somehow our views and ideas matched and both our feelings matched. In just 3 hours of our conversation on the internet i thought that honestly she's the right one. Though she didnt completely agree with our relationship we just said "lets forget about what the confusion is and lets carry on". Now 7 months back i had a massive heart attack due to the pressure and another mild stroke 3 months ago. I'm under no influence of alcohol, cigg's or drugs. Yesterday, i.e. February 13th 2010, i recieved a message from her on my cell phone saying that we cannot continue this relationship and that we can be good friends. Well at that very same moment i was in a shock again and my blood pressure went extremely low. I had a telephonic conversation with her and she said that we've to stop it there. Again i was taken to the hospital in the morning and was given tranqulizers and all god knows what, but i demanded to be home. Even now i'm just pretending that i like her as my friend but am just not able to give it up. At times i feel suicidal but then i wonder what would my parents do without me. Without her i feel like a looser. I feel that someone taking away my part of oxygen and i feel breathless. Even now i'm on Saline and glucose as i'm typing this. About 2 months ago I started seeing my ex-boyfriend on a regular basis. He is more like my best friend rather than "ex-boyfriend" because he never wanted to commit to our relationship and we'd never formalized our relationship. We've known each other for 5 years and get along together very well. Hi! One of my best friends and I are looking to start a young women's bible study within our high school. I don't need any help on setting it up (we already have most everything covered) we just need some help with the lesson picking-out business. :) We were considering a Beth Moore study of possibly Esther. I am 25 years old with a 13 month old beautiful daughter with my boyfriend. We live together and things are bad. He is inconsiderate... stays out late... sometimes doesn't come home if we've had a fight.. gets really close to women he works with and texts them all the time and hangs out with them after closing (he is a bartender). Well, in the past there was a girl who was 19 who was obviously trying to sabotage our relationship. so I'm giving my 30 days notice on the 15th. the very thought of this makes my stomach cramp. I've never been the one to tell my trainers we're leaving but I figure I might as well start now. My mother has always been the one to take on my ex trainers. I asked my mom and she just told me do whatever I felt more comfortable with. The problem is I don't feel comfortable with anything. I was in a 1 hour seminar and this fat lady kept on asking 20 questions raising her hand and not letting anyone else talk or ask questions . That started it. Okay, so I have been dating this guy very seriously for over 2 yrs. He happened to be my best friend over 10 years ago and we ended up finding eachother online and reconnected in a romatic way. I'm ready to throw in the towel on my 19 year marriage. The communication between us is poor, at best. I cannot approach him about anything that he might disagree with, or find disagreeable, as this often results in an explosive temper tantrum on his part. He will smash things, and clench and unclench his fists in anger. He also "takes things out on" our daughter after we fight. If i don't agree or at least go along with everything he thinks, does, etc. I am being unreasonable. I usually go along with whatever the thing may be, from TV programs to where to go out for dinner, just to keep the peace. My thoughts, my feelings are inconsequential. The man that I got to know prior to my marriage actually never existed - it was all an act, an act that I fell for hook, line and sinker. It was like he was acting in a part as a movie or TV character - the perfect man. I decided to stay after I discovered "the real him" for the fact that we had a daughter within a year of saying "I do." And, I thought he'd change - fool that I was. Next fall, our daughter starts college. My baby will be grown. I am done. I have my own thoughts, feelings and needs, and they are not being met in this relationship. We don't even have sex anymore, for years now - he has no sex drive, at least for me. He takes care of himself... We have never had good communication. Sad to say, I married him too soon after meeting him (6 months). I was in love with the idea of love. If I had met his family prior to our marriage, we would never have been wed, as I can see how be became so very damaged. His father was a mealy-mouthed wimp. His mother ran the entire show - and she is mentally ill. Okay so I'll try to explain this in the simplest of ways. I'm living here on this island where I have been since May 08. Since April 09, I've been on my own as in a single woman. I knew towards getting to the end of 2009 that 2010 was going to start off with a lot changes and it already has. My job situation has been a very unusual one as you might gather if you go back to my previous questions. I was a rental adminstrative assistant with a rental manager who has had her own business since May of 09, and I've been her personal one as in payed from her own pocket and off the books which hasn't done me all that good. But I've done what I had to to survive. Anyhow, in the past two weeks already and I'll spare you the details of the whole entire thing unless you ask because I want to make this as short as possible. But basically I knew I was coming to a end with her for several differences and yet she was TOTALLY trying to take advantage of me and I FINALLY stood up for myself. So now, I am just still a renter though of hers. And my Uncle, who is my financial backup is totally on my side and is willing to back me up for as long as he needs to, is the only reason I can get by right now. As well as help from the babysitting I'm doing and a bit of income from my sister. So now, like I said I know coming into this year would have lots of changes. I am GLAD I do not have this job cause it was depressing me SO bad and now I feel so cleansed emotionally, spirtually and physically. But now there's the question of where do I go from here? I'm on a island in FL that I have no ties too and I basically moved here with my ex into a escape situation but I've done alot of good for myself too. But it's time to move on. I do not want to just find a way better job HERE to keep my place just because I have it, you know? (Plus this is an expensive place to begin with & I have no car or license as of now) I want and need to take risks now which brings me to this and deciding on if it's a good idea or not. I have a really good friend who I've known online for several years now but I've never met in person yet. He lives in Portland, Oregon which from all the research I've done and what he's told me about it, it's a place that totally totally suits me. Key being Metropolitan, too. And I'm right next to all the forms of transportation, too. And you know I think I'm just really ready for a change like this, but slightly scared. I mean I've been in FL since I was 10, and I'm going to turn 21 next month. I can tell you each time I've been away in the past few months on a trip, it's felt fantastic. I'm ready to start a new life again especially out of FL after EVERYTHING I've been through in the last few years especially. It would be hard to leave behind several people, but it might just be the big change I really need. I'm tired of hanging on to what I have just for security because I've gone through alot of non-security areas. My ex boyfriend, my mom to be exact. It's only my brother I'm concerned about. Anyway, I need to mention before I close this I have also been considering the military to help guide me and it would be beneficial to me and I do know that I want to go to school, just not what I want to major in yet is the problem. So I feel like I have these three options or so. And as far as Portland goes, I don't know how my Uncle would react. Thanks for taking a look at my situation. We've been living together for five years now. I'm 25, she is 24. We do have a deep and interesting relationship, always on the same page, never fight, etc etc. The 'spark' has gone, but we still really enjoy each other's company and have been intending to get married (we have actually been engaged these five years - dreadful I know!) Back when I was 22 and she 20, she started saying she wanted to have children. Shocked and terrified, I said I wanted to wait about five years before doing so as we were still so young and the idea of having children didn't really interest me. I figured as we grew up the thought of children would grow on me. Now we're only a year or so from our 'deadline', and she's very eager to get married and have children this year. Though it's been a constant topic of conversation over the years it's now being brought up at least daily. I can tell her mind is screaming at her to get pregnant and she's having real difficulty holding on, but she's doing it because she loves me. The problem is, I'm no more eager to have children now than I was back then, and she's aware of this. Here's where I need to hear perspectives from women, what should I do for the sake of both of us? a) I should just get over it and become a father, because I'll love it - that's probably true but I'm not willing to be forced into parenthood right now and neither am I going to gamble on the chance that I will change my mind in future. b) I should marry her knowing full well that I may never actually want to have kids with her, and just keep putting her off forever - this doesn't sound like a good option to me. c) I should tell her that I may not ever want children, but that I still want to marry her - I know that she would accept this option, but I think it would not be a happy marriage, particularly ten years from now. d) I should break off the engagement as soon as I can so as to not waste any more of her time waiting for me - I think there is a chance we could still remain good friends, which would be excellent, but it's not a very big one. Some final points that didn't fit into the above: - we own investment property together, and both run a family business I own. So we're pretty tight-knit. - all her friends have children, which is a big factor in her feelings I'm sure. - she does have self-image issues as she is hearing impaired and heavily accented, and she'd probably not be overjoyed at being single again (no really?) - it does sometimes feel like our relationship is more like 'best-friends' than lovers, but after five years, I think that's not unnatural... Final admission: I wrote this out expecting to find the answer myself while writing it, but I'm still none the wiser so I am posting it. I met a great guy and we hit it off immediately (I'm 42 and he's 46). We would talk on the phone for hours and text, etc.. We would see each other whenever we could as we live close to one another. after a few weeks, I started getting a little scared and wanted to ask him what his intentions were on dating me as he had mentioned that before meeting me, he had told other women that he wasn't looking for anything and I thought that was good that he was up front with them. I feel that I have this going on at work. I was recently promoted and with it I got a new office instead of a smaller one that I shared with two other male workers and one female. Now I work in my own office and have longer hours but the pay is way more than what I was getting. I went from $31,000 a year to $52,300 a year. Almost half of what i was getting. The position I am at now was not an easy thing to accomplish, nor was it something I took for granted. All those who wanted to be promoted to the position I got promoted to had to complete a 3 month class of learning new material and new software data. Which also included computer programing to make the software run on laptops without burning the system out. We also had to put in at least 4 hours a day on top of the already 8 hours we were working the regular job. The training class for this new promotion was only 4 days a week so I chose to do them two hours after I got off of work for 4 days a week. It was one of the most hardest things I've ever done and the directors did not in no way make it easier on me because I am a woman or because I am black. There were 17 of us to start with. 5 dropped out in the first week and then 4 more dropped out during the weeks to come. In the end there were me and 8 other people from my job left. And I made sure I did all of my assignments as soon as I got them so I would not slack behind in any work. And every time I did not under stand something I would make sure to ask questions and take notes at the end of each class. When the training session was over I was so surprised to hear that I had been the one who was selected. One of the male instructors of the program told me that he was very impressed with my work and that he admired my dedication. When I got home I cried for over an hour and called all of my family and friends and told them the good news. Back at work when I was moving my things from the shared office to the new office that was all mine. One of my co-workers told me that a few of the guys who stayed in the training program with me were saying that they should have know that t would be given to the only black woman left in the program. I am literally disgusted by men. I knew most were capable of lieing and being deceitful in order to get sex from women with low self-esteem, but I never thought my husband was one of “them”. Why would I want to be entangled to someone who lies and uses women? If he uses, lies to and manipulates other women to get what he wants, why wouldn’t he just lie and use me too? My wife and I have been together 6 years and have a 4 year old son and a 7 year old step son from a previous relationship of my wifes. I have not been married before but my wife was married for ten years and then got divorced she then was with her previous partner for 4 years and had a son with him then they split up when we got together. I am a 21 year old female, full-time college student, and here is my situation - EXTREMELY complicated but I'll try my best to keep it short: My parents got divorced when I was younger, but they still live together in the same house. My older brother is grown, and lives with his gf and his 2 kids from a previous marriage. I live at home with mom and dad, and I work with my mom (she owns her own business, and I have been helping her run it since I was 16). Sometimes I feel like my mom is being extremely selfish, and other times I think maybe she's just lonely and doesn't do these things intentionally. My mom respects my relationship with my boyfriend of 2 years. She says he's such a nice guy and will make a great husband one day. Other times, she'll tell me to "be careful because all men are the same and just want one thing." This might sound normal to some degree, for she is just telling me to be cautious, but other times she says things like "Heh, he's just like your father, those are the worst." She's always telling me how she got married only 6 months after dating because men and women cant date too long before "other things happen" (referring to sex, of course). She is always talking about the importance of getting married a virgin, and how she's so proud that she made it to the altar as a virgin, and how she hopes and just knows I will do the same. She also ALWAYS complains about how she married the wrong man thanks to her mother. How when she wanted to break up with him my grandmother started crying and started telling her it would be the biggest mistake of her life if she did. My grandmother adores my father, and she has been a mother figure to him since my dad has been estranged from his family for over 30 years (since he migrated with mom's family to the US). Even when my parents got divorced, Dad was still around because Mom's family was his only family. When mom started dating another man, no one in her family approved. She dated him anyway. Just a few days after the divorce, the new man was living at my house. My brother decided to up and move out with dad, (I was 9 years old when this happened and brother was 18). She cried, and cried when my brother moved out and asked me "do you want (insert new bf's name here) to live with us? " When I replied "No." she said "You can make believe that you killed me and burried me alive". YES, she said this to her NINE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER! She eventually got over it, and her relationship with the new man ended two years later. And then a few years later, when I was about 13, Dad started having health problems and moved back in with us. Here is where everything gets complicated - My mom intervenes in ALL of my relationships. She hates the fact that I have friends (that friend "So-and-so of yours is not a good example to you" or "That so-and-so is a slut." I cant even hang out with my cousins because since my cousins have "given them selves away to their boyfriends" (have had sex), then they are also no good for me. When I put up a fight and go out, I have a 10pm curfew or sometimes even earlier. I am not allowed to visit my boyfriend's house, I am not allowed to stay out late with him, etc. (I do it all behind my moms back, so he has no idea this is my situation). If I decide to go out, she'll call me roughly about 18 times (actual number, not exaggeration). She'll text me and tell me how "he only wants one thing, you're being just like the rest of them (referring to my cousins)." Every single time I go out with him, she reminds me to "keep my legs closed." Its like ALL she thinks about is sex. I need everyone's help here. My husband and I live in an apartment complex. We live on the second floor, and there's this chick that just moved in like 6 months ago downstairs. He replies "no, and i'm on the phone with my wife right now". An another occassion she proceeds to tell my husband how she's getting into yoga and how it makes her feel balanced. My husband asked me...why does she feel it important to tell me these things? Another night she's talking to both of us on our balcony telling us she's going to let us borrow some movies (which we didn't ask for) and also that she might be joining the military and if she does she is going to give us her fish tank (again...we didn't ask for this). I've asked my husband if he thinks she's flirting with him, and he said he doesn't think so, or just has not picked up on it. What I find weird...is my husband is in the Army. I knit, and my hubby and I both do yoga and we have a fish tank. All of these are things she's mentioned to me and my husband which we have never talked to her about. It's almost as if she's trying to become..me? Or just too much of a coincidence. So with this woman imposing in coversation, and also inviting herself into our home...we've decided that it's best that I knock on her door this evening to speak to her about how she is making us uncomfortable. I need to know how to approach this..because I don't want to be mean. Should I approach it as: A. Since she does undercover work and probably doesn't have much of a social life, that she just doesn't know her place in social situations and is just desparate friends. B. Or do you think she has a thing for my husband.... My husband wants nothing to do with her, and like I said I want to be nice, but I need to know the best approach. My guess is option A. is the best approach because she hasn't crossed any lines like to flirting or anything yet... Background: My husband and I are caucasian 28 and 24 respectively and this woman is 32 and caucasian, no boyfriend, and we've never seen anyone at her apartment. more

Resolved Question: An obese person's cry for help?

I work with a woman who suffers from fairly severe obesity. She seems often depressed and to have low self-esteem, perhaps understandably. Normally she will make a show of wanting to commit to losing weight - for instance, only eating healthy foods such as lettuce and vegetables at lunch in small portions. Occasionally, she will seem to lapse - and eat a lot of things like chocolate bars and donuts during the day without making any attempt to hide it. Everyone in the office always tends to ignore this and says nothing, which is understandable, as it is none of our business and we don't want to hurt her feelings. I am starting to doubt, however, whether this is the right thing to do. Perhaps this obvious binge eating is really a "cry for help", I am thinking, and, instead of ignoring her, it might actually be better for her friends/colleagues to provide some "tough love" and chastise her when she overeats, to show that we care. What do you think is the best way to handle this situation? more
