When the economy is good, it is often possible for an entrepreneur to succeed with less-than-flawless execution. When the economy is not so good, it usually takes a highly-savvy and/or experienced operator to execute the launch of a successful new business as markets are less forgiving and mistakes far more costly. The net effect is that your margin for error is much, much smaller. Someone in business and finance asked "how do I make money online". I gave him an answer on how I do it, and I was reported. I tried to appeal it and they rejected my appeal (twice) and took 20 points from my account. I feel that it was top contributors who reported me because everytime I post anything in Business and Finance, it gets reported. I think that some of the Top Contributors automatically assume that it's impossible to make money online. They think everything is a scam. I think people should be more careful when reporting answers in this section. You tell me, was this answer solicitation, and HOW? my answer: "Start an online community, a mini myspace in other words or forum. I have a few dating sites and I use adwords to get members. The site is free and I only have about 800 members so far on my main site, but once I have more (about 5,000 or more), I will place ads on there and make money from the ads just like myspace does. There's free software out there for social sites so after you install it, you just work on getting members to sign up. I use Google adwords to advertise mainly. My main site is an asian site so its cheaper for me to advertise since I only only show ads to people out of Asian countries. This is cheaper for advertising, but it also means I'll make less once I place ads on there, because clicks from people in Asia don't pay as well since they don't buy as much online as Americans, Canadians etc. As far as selling domains, that's not easy. I used to do it but it's just getting harder now with the economy the way it is. But most of the people I sold domains to were other domain investors. Advertising is recession proof though. There is always people who are looking to advertise their businesses, even when the economy is bad. Another thing you can do is buy misspelled domains or domains you think you can park. I park domains and some have been pretty successful. There's this one celebrity that just became real famous (realized I can't say his name for certain reasons), and right around the time this was happening, I bought about 4 domain names that are misspellings of his name. Now people searching for his name on the internet who misspell it, end up at my parked page, where I have ads that some of them click on."notice how I said "There's free software out there". For 6 months, an entire region of China is without internet access because the Government blocked their access and texting and international calls. One woman had to travel 250 miles on rail to get to an internet cafe to use regular email. In July, China promised they would gradually return basic internet sites. It's now January and they still say they will gradually unblock the internet, they have not done so yet. One woman had a successful small business going before the internet was blocked off completely by the Chinese Govt, now her business can't possibly continue. Even posting this yahoo question puts me at risk to ever go to China, if their Government finds I even posted a question like this, I could be stuck in a prison for questioning their authority. Why is the Chinese Government like this? She was diagnosed with incurable cancer and we could no longer afford to live in our home without her income. She decided the best thing to do would be to use all of our savings, plus go into debt to make a down payment on a house in Florida and move there. Uncertain factors include academic prestige as well as the student body's country of origin. My decision to apply to Syracuse was prompted by business school rankings from Businessweek. It provides good information such as, SAT or ACT score, median salary, costs, etc. I narrowed my college list based on this information, looked up Syracuse University’s website to gather detail information and realized that Syracuse University is the idealist place to me. Syracuse is located in East coast of the U.S., its communication and business schools are top-ranked in Businessweek, and many Korean students are attending, which will be helpful when I am getting a job in Korea. I also like the fact that the schools were evaluated well among the job-recruiters. My friend and I have a great idea for opening a business. We would sell DVDs, cd's, and video games. There would also be an internet cafe along with 2 movie rooms along with an arcade and kid's zone. We would have gaming tournaments every weekend. Where we live, not everyone has high speed internet. There are so many people here that would pay to be able to play games online. His grandfather is a successful realtor so we could get a good price on the property. Also, my uncle deals with pool tables, arcade machines, etc. So neither of those would be a problem. Voting Question: How common is it to construct a team to program a piece of software without knowing how to program yourself?

How common and successful is the act of finding and building a team to build a product (which basically only requires programming) without being able to program in that language yourself? (as the project lead) From what I've seen, almost all (mostly freelance and Indie) projects cropping up around the Internet seem to have an experienced programmer leading the design and development of the product instead of say, a person who would call himself a designer. I'm asking this because I believe I have a few good ideas that can be laid out in a detailed, organized, and understandable fashion--in design documents. I'm wondering how realistic it is to try and look for a team without having years of experience in the require programming languages that will be used for the projects. Now, that's not to say I won't know anything about logic or the design flow of the programming required meaning the programmer(s) won't need to rewrite and reinterpret the design in a way that can be used by them. I'm talking about, with a good design document, how common, realistic, and finally, successful is it to find a team. On a related note: how do I let the prospective team members know I have a good design document and know what I'm talking about without giving away the entire document and opening the project up for copying or theft. (Not to say I'm against open source software or sharing ideas, I would just like to note that these ideas in mind have business ideals tied into them and are structured in such a way that is built for the user AND to bring in some sort of revenue) (If applicable, I would be open to releasing the code and/or design once the project had been completed) On yet another note: could anyone point out some good sites (with an exception to this site, of course!) for picking up possible team members? Hello all! I am very interested in opening a bar/lounge/club in the coming years. I believe I can raise a fair amount of capital as long as I come up with a strong business plan. I have strong convictions on the type and general location but beyond that, I need support. My goal is to search on the internet for people who have experience in this area and can provide valuable insight into the workflow in making this happen and more importantly, making it successful. Is it legal for me to start a small internet hosting business? I've read up on many pages before that such large successful companies today started back when their owner/founder were only 14-18 years old. I am currently 16 years old and have major experience over the internet, marketing, advertising, and college credits over business courses. I wanted to major in mba and/or marketing/advertising and I thought it may be interesting if I started a company. I thought to myself maybe reseller hosting and domain names would be a great place to start. I am able to provide myself with a website, domain, hosting, and I know of a few places for webhosting reseller. I would accept payments through PayPal, and I would have a SECURE order form and client management system for my customers. If this is legal...how do I gain trust from customers? Networking Problem Internet is a magnificent medium to find solutions for your PC problem. I got help from it on numerous occasions and I am really thankful to the technology for it. However, despite of asking many times on many forums and trying everything given on the internet, my networking experience has been a nightmare so far. In 2007 I first tried to connect two PCs through LAN wired router, both PCs were using windows XP and guess what, my first try was a success but it was a matter of time when I realised that it was not more than just beginner’s luck because since then I’ve tried countless times but it never happened again. Now let me go into the detail. I’m using two P4 PCs with Windows XP professional, both have LAN built-in to the mother board. I have Broadband internet connection which can be used at one PC at a time. Both PCs can connect to the internet without any problem but when I try to connect them to each other, Ping request gives request denied. The only change since the first successful try I remember of is the use of Avast Antivirus, at that I time I had McAfee installed but I stopped avast antivirus and tried again with no success. Here is the list of things I did to setup networking on my computers. 1.All the wires are connected properly; I am sure about this because they both can connect to internet. 2.I ran the Setup for Home or small business netwrk in XP. 3.In PC-A I gave it IP address 192.168.10.1 subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and in PC-B I gave it IP address 192.168.10.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0. 4.Enabled Netbios over TCP/IP 5.Disable firewall 6.Disabled avast antivirus 7.Workgroup of both PCs is MSHOME 8.Following services necessary for networking are running Server, Workstation and Computer Browser. (Please note that other services related must also be running because both PCs can connect to internet). 9.File sharing is on With all these things done, I cannot still get even a ping reply. I did the same in 2008 but at that time I was able to ping the computers and could not share the files because I could not access the PCs and kept on getting Unreachable message. I had to write a essay to get into the advanced training for my trade tell me what you guys think Why I believe I should be accepted into the Shriver Advanced Training Program. I feel that since I went through my computer repair trade at a pretty rapid pace, I should be able to do the same at Shriver. As a matter of fact I will be taking my A+ certification test by week’s end. David Brinkley once stated “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him”. I believe the determination and focus that has been instilled in me would make me a great asset to Shriver Job Corps Center. I originally came to Job Corps as a last opportunity, but I soon realized the ability of advanced training to provide a high source of income for me and possibly a family in the future. I was attending Valencia Community College but my family had to relocate. I ended up having to owe money to financial aid, in spite of that I was doing pretty ok for myself. I found a job with a tech Support call center for SanDisk but eventually they ended up laying everyone off and found myself collecting unemployment. After months of searching for employment I realized the jobs were not that easy to come by, that’s when I decided to make the call to Job Corps. I will be taking the network+ certification after I finish the Comptia A+ certification. My original plan was to get into Cisco but I soon realized it wasn’t available so I went with my second choice getting my Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification. While at Job corps I got the opportunity to setup the Business Tech Class and their 22 computers by myself which included installing a print server, network deployment of Deepfreeze and NetOP. All of which I learned on the spot using the internet as my guide. As you can see I have a personality that tends to thrive for knowledge. Determination and focus are the best of my characteristics. I believe that I will highly benefit from Shriver’s Advanced Training program as well as become beneficial and a model student for Shriver. So...I can't believe that I fell in this trap but I did...so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older...so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them...and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway...right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I'm worried about my credit card...I'll have to watch it carefully! So...be careful out there...all these internet money making websites are scam! I'd like to go about selling handmade items on the internet through my own website. However, it's proving to be a little more difficult than I anticipated. D: I know that you have to buy a domain name, but there are so many places ive found to do so... (and a lot of them are scams!) It's hard to know which place to pick. Someone told me to look into Godaddy,com, but I have read numerous bad reviews and I want to look into a better alternative. Suggestions? The prices i've seen thus far for having your own website range from about 3.99 to 7.99 a month on average. Is that a reasonable amount? Should I expect to shell out more? Also, where could i find some basic tutorials on how to decorate the website with HTML and whatnot? ive got a few friends that can help me out but I think it would be beneficial for me to learn the basics first. Recently the Securities and Exchange Commission busted a trust fund manager for using funds illegally. A trust company, operating out of Reno, NV and California, sold the use of trust funds to third parties, who were allowed to invest that money and use the profit for their personal benefit. The trust funds gained no interest. My great grandparents were very rich and their wills were "lost" upon their death. A committee decided where our family assets would go, which did not include giving any money to my grandfather, only to the girls of the family whose wonderful husbands became very successful. My father's aunt picked up my father in her personal limousine in Washington, where she and her husband have an auto parts chain. Other aunts were equally successful. The intestate committee gave us very little and our aunts had to sue them to just get the house for my grandfather in which he was living. It's been a wonderful life, but we have had to struggle to make a meager living. How can I find out if we were taken? Also my estranged grandmother was involved in show business and moved to New York where Lucille Ball was growing up. right now i'm in high school, and this summer i'll be old enough to get a paying job. i'm an absolute horse lover, and i've been riding for over 5 years and have done a couple of shows. i'd like to follow a career path involving horses, but i'm not 100% sure how to do it. i will most definitely go to a 4-year college, i'm dead-set on that. but i'm not sure where i want to go or what i want to major in. i've done a few searches on the internet, but i haven't found any colleges close by that offer equine studies courses or anything. also, my parents aren't so crazy about the idea of me going to college to study horses; they want me to have more options. i do too, but i really want to do something with horses! neither of them are horse people, and i don't think they believe the horse business is successful enough to be a good job for me. so i really don't know what to do. this question is mainly for adults who now work with horses, whether its you're a trainer, or a barn owner/manager, or whatever -- how did you get to where you are now? how do you prepare yourself in high school to be able to, say, own a boarding stable and become a riding instructor after you graduate from college?
