Business park wins top ‘green’ award

Unit 5 at Great Oak Business Park in Llanidloes has won the Breeam Welsh Office of the Year award. The other units have also received very high ratings.

Breeam (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) is the world's leading environmental evaluation for buildings and sustainable design. It has become the measure of a building's environmental performance.

All the units on the park, some of which are already occupied by local companies, are 10% more energy efficient than is required by normal building regulations.

Welcoming the award, Deputy First Minister and Minster for the Economy Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "Greener buildings can bring benefits to both business and the environment.

"Our aim in creating this park has been to provide quality accommodation that caters for a wide range of sectors, while being more attractive to environmentally-conscious companies."

The business park is on the site of a former factory. more

Microsoft Hyper-V and Spin Marketing - Sun’s Comments

As I mentioned in the post, Microsoft Hyper-V and Spin Marketing, a number of companies contacted me in the hopes of presenting their view of Microsoft's Hyper-V announcement. This is Sun's response.

A Sun representative sent some comments about the Hyper-V launch to me as well. Sun's comments echo those made by Virtual Iron.

Sun's perspective is that live migration is like table wine, it's good, but not enough. Sun believes that other forms are also necessary when looking at hypervisors. For example, warm migration, which is freezing the server, moving it, and then bringing it back up. Cold migration, which involves taking your network down to perform scheduled maintenance, is a necessary feature for disaster recovery. more

After a year and a half at the Auckland, New Zealand-based company, Gray has accepted a position as senior vice president of sales, marketing and categories for The Oppenheimer Group, Vancouver, British Columbia, Enza�s North American marketing partner for more than 50 years.

�As we�ve worked closely together over the past year and a half, we�ve found what I guess you could call a mutual attraction,� Gray said. �I�m also very committed to Enza, but I think the good news is that I will still have a very strong connection to them through The Oppenheimer Group.�

Indeed, Gray isn�t going anywhere just yet. She plans to stay with Enza until April.

I currently have ATT as an internet service provider at home and got that when they were still SBC (10 yrs ago). I want to now turn off the DSL and maybe thinking of going w/ CABLE. It might run me cheaper if I go Cable w/ my Cable TV but I'm not sure if my email account will still be good as I use that for business account. more

i have sbc dsl 763kb modem speedstream 5100 connected directly to the computer......residential my modem has 5 lights power ethernet dsl internet activity.... the first 4 light are on solid...activity just blink when i try to stream a video (like on youtube) or download it would work fine at the beginning then stop.I can see the buffering but it just stop dling at some point. When it stop i try to open a different browser but it wont load...internet has stopped but the lights are fine.....activity light also stop blinking......it would stay like this for awhile and then the activity light start blinking again and i have connection again.... i'm only able to use the internet for 1 or 2min and then it would stop / pause..... i have tried on 2 different computer and both same thing. Resolved Question: Why can't I access my sbcglobal email account?!?

For the past 6 months or so, I have been having a terrible time accessing my sbcglobal email account. I've tried using Firefox, Internet Explorer, Outlook and even the AT&T browser and about 80% of the time, I get a "Server not found" error and cannot access my email! I've tried talking to someone in customer service and all they can say is "That's not possible". Hmmm... then I obviously can work magic since that's happening. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how were you able to resolve it? I've tried resetting my cookies, talked to the IT dept at work to make sure they aren't blocking any specific sites, etc, but still nothing works. This wouldn't be that big of an issue except I use my sbc account for business and have already missed some very important, time sensitive emails. I've also noticed that I never had this kind of problems until SBC switched to AT&T. Thanks for your help! more

I listed most of my problems on my dell this past year. Every time I use it, I have immediate interference and addresse and messages coming and going until my MODEM lights cut out and ai have to talk to a fillopino or AAN iNDIA(iNDIAN) FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS..They can get me going but after hanging up, the system starts fouling up.. It seems these tech people ar taught to do as little as possible. I have asked for a LIIVE person on EBAY, YAHOO,SBC, Overlook express and Never hear anything on it...Is this business which has made many genioses "billionaires" finally reached beyond saturation? If I call SBC TECH Support they transfer me to the far east for fixing my problems on the computor. more

Resolved Question: What wireless routers will support SBC DSL Static IP?

Ok, so I just upgraded my DSL to static IP business class in the hopes that I would be able to use my linux server downstairs as a web server without having to run a cable to it. So here is what I know about SBC DSL. It isn't true static IP. Apparently, the block of 8 useable addresses assigned to you are provided via some strange configuration of PPPoE. So if you want to connect any of your systems to the internet, you can use one of the 5 "useable" addresses with most routers. Why? Because the routers usually will not support a configuration where they manage the PPPoE connection and then allow you to static route the 5 IP addresses assigned to you to computers on your internal Lan. So..does anyone know of a wireless router which will do the following all at the same time? 1. Establish a PPPoE connection on behalf of the network. 2. Allow static routing of up to 5 additional IP addresses to internal computers. While still working as a DHCP server for other systems?I already have a Hawking HWR54G router and when I configure my PCs and when I enable my PCs to have static IPs on the internal 192.168.1.x network and set them up with DMZ routing to the external network, they cant browse out, and nothing on the outside can ping them. more

SBC, my provider, is now AT&T. I had a past due balance that is not due till August 7th. I also have not received a disconnect notice because my balance has not been past due for a long time. But AT&T has prevented me both access to my email AND all internet services, only leaving me access to phone. Do you think this is fair and legal practice? Personally, I just think it's another creative lie to bully customers for every penny they can get. I live in Ohio and even though SBC is the coolest company on the face of this planet, AT&T's bullying is definitely giving me second thoughts although once my SBC contract is up AT&T's rates are very cheap if you sign up online. My 2nd question would be, what other high speed CHEAP, reliable, and considerate DSL providers should I look into? more

Okay. I'm going to Virginia and I want to take my laptop, that has wirless internet from my family's desktop (SBC Yahoo, if that matters) and I was wondering will it still work? I was an ATT/SBC customer for Yahoo/SBC high speed internet use , email adresses, etc... But I moved where I can't get DSL access from ATT...have to use my cable TV provider for internet access. Does Yahoo offer business services on its own (not in partnership with ATT) so I can get the 2 gig email storage, email addresses, etc.... My original account was with Yahoo before they partnered with ATT.... Help!!!! more
