Legacy Development Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced legacy fundraiser to develop a new legacy marketing and events programme for our supporters, as well as raising lots of money for a great cause!

WRVS is one of the largest voluntary organisations in Britain with over 56,000 volunteers helping older people to stay independent at home and active in their community. Last year WRVS made life better for over 78,000 older people.

We want to achieve even more and are now looking for a talented person to develop our legacy and in-memoriam fundraising programme.

We are seeking a bright and motivated individual to develop and implement the programme through a range of direct marketing initiatives and promotional events for new and existing WRVS enquirers and supporters. more

Reed Business Deploys Mark Logic to Enhance Its Digital Asset

Reed Business Information Netherlands publishes more than 120 Web sites and more than 100 B2B Magazines, and also produces numerous high-quality industry events. The company recently implemented All Magazine Content Online (AMCO), a digital asset distribution application that consolidated the company's entire store of magazine content into a single repository. This central warehouse of content enables editors to update the metadata on the full archive of magazine articles and paves the way for easier creation of focused, partner-facing websites.

As the first phase of the project, RB's publication editors can now input and update crucial information related to the wide range of RB's magazine articles, including copyrights, keywords, topics, authors, etc. This additional metadata provides detail around their content, enabling RB editors to better search, package, and deliver content to RB's corporate business syndication partners including LexisNexis and Factiva. more

'Stereotype'? Yes and no

One is that doctoral programs in business disciplines encourage applications from women (and men) seeking a "second career," often because family responsibilities make flexible hours — even though long hours — seem like a wonderful alternative to one's current job.

Also, the focus on academic research is as real in a business field as in science — but no "post-doc" is needed after completion of the doctoral program to be offered a faculty position.

Finally, we at the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, the only place in Houston offering business doctorates, give half-time financial support and a tuition waiver to all accepted applicants, and we are looking for verbal and quantitative skills, certainly not a specific gender.

WCIT 2008 Identifies New Business Opportunities Worth RM500 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2008 has identified new business opportunities worth RM500 million in addition to about RM5.3 billion deals that were announced Monday. Multimedia Development Corp Sdn Bhd (MDeC) chairman, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, said these were done at 300 MDeC-organised business-to-business matching and business-linked programmes as of Monday. Badlisham, who is also MDeCs chief executive officer, said the new business opportunities were expected to be finalised within 12 months and they would provide long-term benefits for the local information technology companies. "Obviously, there are many factors to consider when closing a deal and credit element is just one of them. "I think the core to some of these decisions will be the critical factor of some of the deals," he told a media briefing here Tuesday. more

Omar Mamlouk appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at Layia

Layia Hospitality has appointed Omar Mamlouk to the position of Area Director of Sales & Marketing.

Prior to his appointment, Mamlouk was Director of Sales & Marketing for Millennium Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar, in charge of sales, marketing, reservations and e-marketing channels.

Mamlouk has also worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Beirut, Lebanon, where he held regional positions in Sales & Marketing for Movenpick Hotels & Resorts.

In his new role, Mamlouk will be working on establishing the local, regional and international Sales and Marketing set-ups of Layia Hospitality.

Launched in early 2008, Layia Hospitality is creating a portfolio of four and five-star hotels, luxury serviced villas and fully furnished apartments, with its first hotel property set to open in Dubai this summer. more
