Wolves chairman launches awards

The Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards, launched at Molineux today, will cover five categories including a prize for a business that has succeeded against the odds.

The idea was started in the businessman's native Liverpool and Cheshire last year.

Mr Morgan launched his own business career using a £5,000 loan from his father to help found one of the country's most successful housebuilders, Redrow Homes.

He said: "The idea is to stimulate economic growth."

Honeywell looks to profit from new fuel-tank safety rule

Honeywell manufactures a fuel-tank safety device that is required to be installed on all aircraft within nine years under new FAA rules, and the Arizona company could sell and install the device on up to 5,110 planes. The device replaces flammable oxygen with inert nitrogen in the fuel tank and greatly reduces the risk for fuel tank explosions. The cost of compliance with the new rule for the airlines is estimated to be more than $1 billion. Arizona Republic (Phoenix), The (07/29)
