Tax Reform Committee to Propose Slashing Personal and Business
The tax reform committee also plans to utilize the extra tax income in slashing the business income tax, in order to create a favorable investment environment. The committee preliminarily plans to cut the business income tax to 17%, down from existing 25%, thereby making Taiwan the area with the second lowest business income tax in Asia, trailing Hong Kong`s 17.5%. The tax cut will bring NT$120 billion of benefit to Taiwan`s 700,000 enterprises, an amount to be increased to NT$140 billion after taking into account the elimination of the 10% tax on corporate retained earnings.

I am aware there are certain risks, which are of a significant importance to opening The Cinnamon Stick cafe. The main risk is that I am not skilled in opening up a new enterprise and have never embarked on such a project before. It is known that the majority of any entrepenurial ventures fail. This could result in my business failing to survive. One of the factors which contribute to the failing of a business is due to self-employed people not having previous experience in engaging in an occupation of being an entrepeneur. Some () is that I may have competition or complacency. Competition would normally occur with other restaurants or cafes nearby with a more significant degree if they are to sell the same foods which are consumed by customers. The problem in this context is that my cafe is an international cafe selling foods and drinks of cuisines from around the world. This would mean that it is likely to be nearby restaurants or cafes with the same foods. To keep ahead of this is such a thing was to occur I would be essential to sustain a competitive advantage. I may need to lower prices of certain foods to maintain a sufficient amount of money. I am however willing to take this risk, provided I will make an effort to learn how my business will survive despite any economic condition. I plan to overcome competitive risks by having: a customer loyalty program, weekly different specials and organic food to differentiate. With having a customer loyalty program as part of the running of my cafe, I believe this would make the public find such a cafe attractive for dining or (). My idea of doing this is to give every customer a card with placing a stamp on the paper inside one of the 10 squares. It does not concern any differences about how much worth the customer has purchased for consumption. there is a tenth square filled in, it is the customers right to have their one forthcoming meal free, with the process restarting after a free meal has been consumed by the customer. It also does not count A way in which I am thinking of preventing hoaxes is to write the date and time beneath the signatures in a row of boxes designated for it. This way when the time the customer has consumed from the cafe, it can be clearly seen weather it is genuine. moreVoting Question: confused about the higher education system in the USA?

The Dow reached its all time high of 14,000 in 2007, on Bush's watch. It was no bubble, the Dow was above 10,000 the majority of Bush's time in office up to that point. But after the GOP lost its majority in Congress in 2007, the Dow took its worst one-year plunge in history. Bush's economic policies worked for six years. But after the GOP lost control of Congress, it was all downhill from there. After the GOP lost control of Congress, then the GOP was not able to pass legislation that could have prevented the crash. The Democrats did nothing. The GOP might have done something, but they couldn't because they didn't have a majority anymore. Bush's watchlist system worked for 8 years and 3 days. Even if you start counting with the shoe bomber on 12/22/2001, it kept us safe from airliner bombings until 12/25/2009. If the system worked that long, why did it fail less than one year after Obama took office? The problem is not the system, it's the people who are now runing it. They took a system that was working, and in less than a year it fell apart. And unemployment was NEVER 10% on Bush's watch. The so-called "mess" that Bush gets blamed for actually happened AFTER the Democrats gained seats in Congress and the GOP lost its majority. I think that points to who is REALLY to blame, and why these problems persist after the Democrats have gained even more control. Arthur Levitt, Jr. was the longest serving head of the SEC. Do a Google search on him, see what pops up. He was appointed by Clinton in 1993 and again in 1998. He left in 2001, so he covered the entire Clinton administration. Levitt gave Madoff a free pass because they were both members of the Harmonie Club, a social club for the ultra wealthy in NYC. Madoff was first reported to the SEC in 1992: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/sep/02/bernard-madoff-sec-report Report: Regulator was tipped off about Madoff fraud as early as 1992 "a suspicion of trouble at Madoff Investment Securities arose as early as 1992 when customers of Avellino & Bienes, a fund that invested all its money with Madoff, complained about documents making a seemingly impossible promise of "100%" safe investments. Although the SEC shut down Avellino & Bienes, the agency only made a "brief and very limited" examination of Madoff." Avellino & Bienes was shut down by the SEC in 1993, the year Levitt took charge. Levitt also gave a special exemption to Enron, exempting it from accounting rules. This special exemption led directly to the Enron scam and the subsequent meltdown of the company, which took down a major chunk of the economy with it. It also led to the discovery of similar fraud at many other companies, fraud that got its start in the Clinton years. If I was going to pick one individual who was most responsible for the rampant fraud of the Clinton years, it would have to be Art Levitt. “Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors… “Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq. ”The international community had little doubt then, and I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again. " Speech from the Oval Office by President William Clinton, explaining his attack on Iraq reported by The Associated Press Wednesday, December 16, 1998 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/clintontext121698.htm Bill Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENAV_UoIfgc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysmwASJKCDc&feature=related Do a google video search on "democrat wmd" to see how many Democrats insisted that Saddam had WMD, all the way back to Al Gore in 1992. moreResolved Question: What is the difference between the different editions of textbooks?

Korea is known as the “Land of the Morning Calm.” This expression comes from the beginning of the modern history of Korea. Koryo means “high” and “clear.” This word symbolizes the clear blue sky of Korea. The beautiful nature of Korea is expressed through this ancient name. The beginning of Korean history started from 2333 B.C. The Korean peninsular adjoins China and Japan. Korea was conquered by Japan and divided into South and North Korea at the end of World War II. The Korean War caused devastating damage to Korea. However, it should be noticed that despite frequent foreign invasions, the Korean Peninsula has been under a single government while maintaining its political independence, culture and ethnic heritage. Not that long ago, South Korea was one of Asia’s economic success stories – one of the region’s hungry “tigers” looking around for new markets to conquer. Seoul, its capital, modernized in a very rapid amount of time to accommodate the needs of business travelers and has brought the country’s colorful traditions and trademark tranquility. The population of the Korean Peninsula, sharing a common language, ethnic identity, and culture, was one of the world’s most homogeneous. Although there were significant regional differences even within the relatively small land area of South Korea, neither the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) nor South Korea had significant non-Korean ethnic minorities. This homogeneity, and the sense of a shared historical experience that it promoted, gave the people of South Korea a strong sense of national purpose. The division of the peninsula after World Ward II, the establishment of two antagonistic states in the north and south, and the profound changes in the economy and society caused by industrialization and urbanization since the 1950’s led many South Koreans to search for their national identity and place in the world. I'm a 10th grade high school student, trying to figure out what I want to do in college. My thoughts keep going back to International Business, but I'd rather focus more on finance over business but still on a global level. I'm very good at math, and am currently in French 3, and have the option of taking economics for the next two years on an advanced level because I am an IB student. Basically, I want to know the major difference between international finance, and business. Which major would be most beneficial in the future? And if could get a job in finance with an international business degree, or is that a bad idea? Should I go with just plain Finance? moreResolved Question: Dating Someone Married Who is Much Older?
He is 74. She's 30. First of all, let's say he is a thin, attractive, elderly man. It may seem gross to some people, but she says she is actually attracted to him. It may be weird to some, but she said something about him is fascinating to her. Do you think the female would be arm candy or do you think he'd actually want to get to know her? My friend is very attractive, intelligent, has a career, and owns her own home. I do know she generally dates her age or a little younger, and it's rare that she'd even be interested in a 40 year old man, so this is odd to me. She has been having dinners with this 74 year old married man. (He hasn't had a sexual relationship with his wife in years, and he has claimed that his wife would be ok with the situation as long as it wasn't flaunted around her. His wife lives in England and he lives in the states, so does my friend.) Anyway, he doesn't call my friend everyday due a hectic work schedule. He runs some sort of international business. At times he does call to chat, but not on a daily basis. She sometimes feels neglected and wonders if he is honestly interested in getting to know her mind. He only calls to schedule these dinners with her. She hasn't had sex with him, but he has asked her if she'd be interested in that at some point. He has also expressed interest in taking her on trips to Italy, Paris, Spain, and whatnot. He told her he's looking for someone to share the beauty in life with. He'd like it include sex sometimes, and said it could also lead to love. He told her that he is not in love with his wife and would like to fall in love with someone. He has left the nature of their relationship in her hands. She was kind of pushing the friend thing, but he said he can only do that for so long before feelings develop on his side. Is a 40+ year age difference workable? Do you think he cares about what actually comes out of her mouth, or only how she looks while she is saying it? Because of his age, she doesn't think he will cheat behind her back. Personally, I'm not sure if anyone would. moreResolved Question: Can I get into Duke University?
Here are some of my credentials to help you determine my chances: I am currently a sophomore in high school with a 3.94 unweighted GPA. Ugandan refugee turns hotel soap to hope Nearly two decades after he arrived in this country, Ugandan Derreck Kayongo is still bowled over by one subtle display of American wealth: the endless array of soaps available in stores. In his African homeland, the cost of soap is out of reach for many, often with tragic consequences. In 2004, the World Health Organization found roughly 15 percent of deaths among Ugandan children under age 5 resulted from diarrheal diseases, many of which could be prevented through hand sanitation. Now America's bountiful soap bars have prompted Kayongo to launch the Global Soap Project, an effort to help his country's poorest - one used bar of hotel soap at a time. An Atlanta-based anti-poverty advocate, Kayongo has collected several tons of lightly used soap bars under a plan to melt them down, sterilize them and reshape the soap for shipment to refugees in Uganda to help curb disease. For Uganda's destitute, soap is a luxury. "Most people find it very hard to spend money on something like soap which could actually help them prevent diseases," Kayongo said. A bar of soap can run 500 Ugandan shillings - about 10 American cents - on a continent where many refugees have a dollar to live on daily. Cleaning up with used soap sounds, well, dirty. But Kayongo said soaps will be separated by hotel brand and gently washed to remove makeup and other surface dirt. Next, bars will go into a high-temperature oven where they will melt and transform into a soapy, sterile, slurry. Kayongo said the mixture will go into molds to harden and emerge as large bars of soap. "All it needs is just cleaning and re-melting and remolding," he said. Soap for charity Each day, in millions of American hotel rooms, the cleaning staff replaces soap and other toiletries. Patrick Maher, a consultant to the American Hotel & Lodging Association, said hotels usually throw away used soap. But he said nonprofits have begun stepping up to recycle soap for charitable purposes. "It's one of the new things this year," Maher said. One such charity, Florida-based Clean the World, says it has collected about 17,000 pounds of used soap since February for distribution in impoverished countries worldwide. For the Global Soap Project, Kayongo says he has gathered 10,000 pounds of used hotel soap from 60 hotels in Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. Hotels collect lightly used bars which they place in bins. One of Kayongo's 10 volunteers takes the bars to a donated warehouse near Atlanta that he's using. Kayongo's own family had once thrived off his father's business making soaps and running a printing press in Uganda. But Kayongo said they went from being members of the middle class to refugees, losing everything under the harsh rule of former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. The family fled to Kenya, where Kayongo said life without basics became the norm. Now Kayongo wants to give other refugees a small item that can make a big difference. He plans to send off his first shipment in late October. Kayongo, a senior advocacy field coordinator for CARE International, has committed about $5,000 of his own money toward the $13,000 cost to send the soap and is seeking donations to make up the rest. CARE International, a global anti-poverty group, is not sponsoring the project. The luxury of soap Since June, just one Ritz-Carlton hotel in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood has turned over 3,000 pounds of soap which otherwise would have gone into the trash. "When I heard Derreck speak about it, I thought it sounded really easy and why haven't we been doing this all along?" said Olivia Brown, a manager at the hotel. Kayongo got the idea back in the mid '90s. He'd recently arrived in America and when he settled into his hotel, Kayongo was surprised to find packages of soap. He used the bars, but was confused the next day when he found they'd been replaced. "This went on for two or three days," said Kayongo, who finally called his father back in Africa and chuckled about it. The men talked about how the soap could be melted down and reused. Kayongo sat on the idea for a few years, until his father recently brought it back up. "If you live on a dollar a day," Kayongo said, "what are the chances you spend even one cent of that dollar on buying a luxury like soap?" moreVoting Question: Difference between international business and international relations and business affairs?

Kevin Drum presents evidence from a year-old, unpublished paper by Princeton economist Larry Bartels demonstrating substantial disparities in income equality between Democratic and Republican presidents in the postwar period. The results hold even if one allows a one-year lag although, curiously, Republicans outperform Democrats in election years. One should note at the outset, though, that the differences, while statistically significant and reasonably consistent directionally, are within a rather narrow band of variation. Nonetheless, the results are interesting and may be explainable by the public policy preferences of the parties, i.e., Republicans value economic freedom (as manifested by deregulation and tax cuts, most notably) while Democrats value economic equality (as manifested by minimum wage laws, progressive taxation, direct subsidies to the poor, etc.) relatively more. On the other hand, it may well be explained by exogenous factors such as wars, the business cycle, changes in the international system, and so forth.booman......"The results hold even if one allows a one-year lag although, curiously, Republicans outperform Democrats in election years." And does it make a huge difference what degree I get? Can't find any jobs at all, so I was thinking of going back to school for a graduate degree in business. moreResolved Question: I'm a latecomer at kicking off my career, where should I start?
Three simple questions, but please excuse the details. I'm 24 years old, female, living in Jakarta Indonesia, and a sophomore in college studying communication management. I'm quite knowledgeable at basic business administration, public relations, marketing, world cultures, philosophy and public speaking, and am a gifted trilingual. Previous jobs I've had include hosting a radio talk show, producing a theatre production, hosting concerts and seminars as master of ceremony (MC), interpreting, translating, make up artist, and HR intern at a small company marketing consumer goods. The problem is, I've never achieved anything consistently significant in these jobs because they're mostly project based and I didn't network enough to consistently have projects on my plate. And because I always seem to be starting over, I've never made enough money to support myself either. Other challenges that have stopped me from launching a career were mostly personal, such as abusive relationships, family conflict, and very frequent international relocations in my late teens & early twenties. While I've done my best to detach my private life from my professional setting, I still subconsciously carry a lot of emotional baggage that I don't even know is there. This has affected the way I make decisions and relate to people. I am, however, getting help in dealing with this baggage, and expect that I will recover once I start seeing results in my professional life (i.e. reputation, sustainable achievements, and money). I had meant to start working last year, but abandoned a pending job offer orted the plan when I got trapped into producing a theater production for a businessman who casted this vision of a great theater company but did nothing to follow it up. Before this, my confidence level in entering the workforce had been recovering and I was excited about starting to work... but since the theater company didn't work out as expected, I feel like a loser who had been cheated on again. However, I don't want to create an identity as one who never finishes what she started, so we decided to press on by doing street performances for charity. In the meantime I will spend less time working there and more time on finding a real job that I love, makes a difference in the lives of others, and makes money. The thing is, at this point I feel lost, and need to recover my confidence that had corroded when the theater company missed my expectations. If I didn't feel that way, I could probably see my options more clearly and have more courage to make wise decisions. I want a career that fits my talent and passion (i.e. writing, speaking, and conceptualising creative ideas). Other than creative writing and public speaking, I don't really have much experience or expertise, but I do know a little bit about a lot of stuff and am a fast learner. People have told me that I am intelligent, good looking, and drive extra miles to produce excellent results. I prefer jobs that aren't set in an office, are deadline oriented but flexible with hours and methods, and facilitate me to meet a myriad people who are beneficial to my professional network. Anyhow, it boils down to these three questions: 1. What jobs should I consider, where can I learn more about them, and how can I network so that I can consistently have plenty of options when it comes to choosing my projects? 2. Which competitive edges should I sell, so that people will want to hire me although I'm about to hit quarter life and have limited experience? 3. What are some practical things I can do to pick myself up so I don't get too bogged down with the emotional baggage and have more confidence & energy to break through with my career? Thank you so much! God bless you. moreVoting Question: I am contemplating for my future career path. Accounting or Finance ? and also other questions !?
Hey guys. I am an international student who's transferring to University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. Knowing it's especially hard for international student to get a job in the U.S. I would like to spend my two years at USC to maximize my chance to get a job in financial field around Los Angeles. First, I would like to get your advices in choosing my major.. between Accounting and Finance. Among various financial field, the field I am most interested in is Financial Analysis and Corporate Finance (+investing and financial planning), not accounting or consulting. But I know the Financial Analyst is required with solid accounting background, and also that Accountants can also do financial analysis as well as other various options (ex: consulting, tax, auditing, financial planning etc). Again, saying that I want to work as an analyist at financial firms, are those two majors so different enough at undergraduate level that they can land me on completely diffrent kind of jobs? or having majored in either one at undergraduate level won't make so much differences but only my skills and experience outside of class? And, I have all my families around LA and I have personal reasons to stay in area (maybe SF is ok.. but I can't definitely can't stay in NYC.. even though I want to). Having it said, are there investment bank branches or renowned financial firms branches or headquarters in Los Angeles that offers analyst position ? (do commercial banks ever offer jobs for analyst position ?? ) And the last questions is,, Can I still be able to sit and take CPA exam even if I do not major in accounting ? I know CPA designations probabaly can help me in landing on a decent job, but reason why I don't want to major in accounting at USC even though it's one of the best accounting school is that the curriculum doesn't interest me,,, while finance major curriculum does. Comparative Politics (Most courses satisfy X area multicultural requirement) Introductory course and prerequisite to upper-level courses in the field: CPO2002 Comparative politics studies the domestic politics of countries throughout the world and develops an understanding of how politics works by observing the differences and similarities among various political systems. Comparative politics is interdisciplinary because to understand the politics of a country, we must also understand something of its economy, social system, international position, history, and culture. International Relations Introductory course and prerequisite to upper-level courses in the field: INR2002 International relations is the study of the political relationships among the world’s national governments. Courses in international relations look at many of the problems and issues of world politics and provide possible explanations for the events we witness. Topics include such things as the causes and effects of war and peace; the difficulties faced by nations in making agreements; the role of international organizations such as the United Nations; the formation of foreign policy; and global responses to contemporary social problems. American Government (Note that some courses with the POS prefix are not American Government courses) Introductory course and prerequisite to upper-level courses in the field: POS1041 The study of American politics aims to answer important and enduring questions about politics and government at the local, state, and national levels. Various courses consider such topics as political participation and voting behavior; the conduct of elected politicians, both in campaigning and in governing; and institutions like interest groups, bureaucracy, and the courts. Courses use theoretical, historical, and analytical perspectives to illuminate the workings of the American political system. Public Policy Introductory course and prerequisite to upper-level courses in the field: PUP3002 The study of public policy focuses on what governments do, how and why they do it, and what the consequences are. Such studies may focus on governmental decisions made at any level and in any nation, and can range from studies of specific government actions or programs to more general assessments of government performance. Public Administration Introductory course: PAD3003 – a good first course, not prerequisite to upper-level courses Public administration courses are taught by the Reuben Askew School of Public Administration. The PAD internship is the only one of their courses that cannot count toward the political science major. Public administration studies the role and functioning of bureaucracies in the formulation and implementation of public policy. It looks at the legal, financial, and managerial aspects of government activities, with a practical and applied approach. It can be thought of a business administration for the public sector.IM NOT ASKING HOW TO BE A SENATOR.
