Lisa Hood Skinner promoted to Senior Vice President at Ackermann PR
A professional with 28 years of international communications and marketing experience, Skinner handles the agency's international accounts and heads up Ackermann's healthcare strategies group. She formerly was vice president.
Prior to joining Ackermann, Skinner conceived and initiated public relations and advertising programs for clients throughout a half dozen countries scattered about the Pacific Rim and Europe. She was marketing director of two major hospitals, St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, and Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Skinner's U.S. agency experience prior to joining Ackermann PR included regional public relations and advertising efforts for respected national clients such as McDonald's (on the East Coast) and Kraft General Foods/Oscar Mayer (in Hawaii and Alaska). moreActel buys Pigeon Point Systems Silicon Valley / San Jose Business
Mountain View-based Actel (NASDAQ:ACTL) did not disclose terms of the deal with Pigeon Point Systems, which is privately held.
"By acquiring the leading provider of TCA management components, Actel now offers a comprehensive solution for proprietary and standards-based system management implementations in the industrial, military, telecommunications, and medical markets," Actel said.
The acquisition is not expected to have a material effect on Actel's financial condition or results of operations.
Actel said Pigeon Point Systems has more than 140 customers around the world, including many of the top global communications OEMs. The company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Actel and will continue to operate out of its Scotts Valley headquarters. more
Azurn launches one-click conferencing marketing tool
Azurn has launched a new online marketing tool designed to bridge the gap between Web and voice.
The product, which has been named Merlin, uses technology known as click-to-connect which allows Web browsers to launch a free telephone or video conferencing call at the click of a link. Customers can choose to take the call on their Web phone, mobile or land-line phone. Customer service specialists the UCMS Group (ASX:UMS) is in the process of adopting the technology for use on its Web site. . moreDrumming up business
