Residents and Engineers Disagree on Plans for Intersection
DOT officials rejected that plan, saying it would wipe out all the businesses in the area, would cost significantly more and would not alleviate congestion.
DOT officials say they chose the quadrant roadway solution because it has the least impact, both economically and on the community. The current plans require the destruction of 29 businesses and one residence.
DOT engineer Matthew Potter says other plans, such as turning College and Kerr into one way roads, would wipe out all the surrounding businesses and would still not alleviate congestion.
"I know a large solution needed to fix problem for good, but it could also ruin all businesses. We've done a good job minimizing impacts and still produce good product," says Potter.
The $38 million project will be funded by federal and state agencies and will be complete in 2013. more
Dollar price drops, businesses sigh in relief
The dollar price has been fluctuating constantly in recent months, making businesses ‘break out in perspiration'. In early 2008, the dollar price hovered around VND16,000-16,200/US$1, while it dropped dramatically to VND15,400/US$1 in March. After that, it unexpectedly soared in June 2008, once hitting the VND19,000/US$1 threshold.
Economists have pointed out that the dollar price increased in the last time because people feared the high inflation rate. The trade deficit reached a record high after five months of the year, making the dollar supply tense. Meanwhile, there was rumour that the government would devaluate the local currency, prompting people to rush to buy and save up dollars. Okay so I signed up for this receptionist job on craiglist. They emailed me back and all and seemed pretty legit. Now I'm a few steps away from being a official employee with them but before I do that, they requested a few things from me. They said that they will provide some equipments for me to use on the job, this is an internet data entry job. They will provide a 1. laptop 2. software They requested the following information from me: 1. How many hours I can work a day 2. What's the time interval I can work (IE, afternoon, morning, etc) 3. Blue Bank is considering implementing this new service. To use it, customers need a remote capture account with Blue Bank and a special scanner to get the necessary images to make the electronic deposit. Once the account is established in the system, customers will be able to scan all of their checks anytime and anywhere by accessing the Blue Bank service through the Internet, logging in, and scanning the checks. The service should be as easy as sending an attachment in an email. Of course, this new application has to be very reliable, secure, and easy to use. It must be integrated into the current Blue Bank Web site, and the Web site must also provide the ability for customers to purchase the special scanner. Blue Bank will set up the scanner-purchasing ability with several appropriate hardware vendors and sell the devices at its physical banks as well. Blue Bank is not sure yet what to charge for the scanners or service. The Web site will also provide online technical support and instructions showing customers how to set up and use the new scanner and service. since i am unemployed and needed income to pay my bills, i accepted the position. 1 week later, this person sent me a cashier's check worth of $4000.00 and gave me instructions how to handle it. went to my bank cashed the check, i kept 10% of it which is 400 dollars as his payment to me then i wired the rest of the money to the person he asked me to send the money to. But after the transaction has been done, i just learned today that this might be scam and the cashier's check i cashed might be a falsed check. I haven't received a call from the bank yet if the check bounced or anything, but now i am scared because they might put me to collection agencies once the bank finds out the check to be fraudulent. Will I be able to email SOLELY internally to my two or three client machines (@mydomain.com) or will I also be able to email out to the world (such as anyemailaddress@aol.com)?? OK...here’s a tough question. I have some basic Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop skills but when it comes to writing anything but the most basic html tags I’m useless. I’m starting a small Internet business and I’m using YAHOO Site Builder 2.4 to build my web site. It’s great software for someone like me who isn’t a computer expert. I do NOT have a merchant account because right now I can’t afford the $30 a month maintenance fee. I would like to create a SUBMIT button that’s more attractive than the drab gray one offered by YAHOO. Although I can create a nice button in Adobe Illustrator I don’t know how the heck to bring it into Site Builder to make it function. I called YAHOO tech support and they said I could, in fact, use a button of my own design but that I would have to generate the code (I assume html) myself. I can get the html imbed code off PhotoBucket (my image host) but as far as the other code that enables the SUBMIT button to direct my sites form information to my email address...that’s another story. Okay, here's what's going on. I have dial up and am upgrading to hi speed w/ verizon. You have to go and set up everything and activate your account, which I have done. I'm on the last step of downloading software. I am doing all this on my dial up connection, I just wanted to know if once I'm finished activating, will I just have to turn on the wireless modem and be set, because there are no further steps, or will none of this count because I am doing it on dial up? My second question is because I am currently with peoplepc, my email is with them. I will have to give my new verizon internet to dozens and dozens of people and businesses unless there is a way to forward all my emails from my old address to the new one.
