El Dorado's Frontier Refinery nominated for Kansas business award

El Dorado's Frontier Refinery is a finalist for the Governor's Award of Excellence, presented annually to the Kansas business that "best represents the state's ideals in leadership, service and contributions to the economy."

The Kansas Department of Commerce on Friday announced the finalists for both that award and the Governor's Exporter of the Year, the two highest honors a business can receive from the state. The winners of both awards will be announced by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius at the Kansas Cavalry Encampment, a business awards ceremony, on June 17 at Emporia State University.

The other finalists for the Governor's Award of Excellence are Crossland Construction Company in Columbus, Rural Telephone Service Company, Inc./Nex-Tech, Inc. in Lenora and the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. more

Pa. to receive settlement in deceptive business practices

Pennsylvania will receive $658,000 as part of a $9.5 million settlement between 29 states and Express Scripts Inc. over claims of deceptive business practices, including switches between brand-name cholesterol drugs.

The states alleged that the manager of drug benefits may have overstated the cost benefits of switching to certain preferred medications.

As part of the settlement, Express Scripts will pay up to $200,000 to patients who incurred expenses related to certain switches between cholesterol-controlling drugs.

The agreement also includes the District of Columbia.

Okay, so for a while now i have been considering investing in a new computer like a mac and a kit to edit and burn dvds from vhs. What i was planning on doing was burning these dvds for local people in my small town of 10,000+ and family / friends. To start this i need -new vhs player $40ish -software $80 -mac $1000ish or pc - $800-1000 external hard drive $60 Now what i need to know from you people out there is. Would you pay for this service? would you pay to have your old vhs home videos converted to dvd with transitions - possibly menu depending on the time it takes... gift case etc. **would try to add alot of charm to the collection to make it look professional and something that would be given as a gift also** -Also i would be willing to put these files on a free media hosting site, so in the case that they ever lost the file or don't have a dvd burner etc. they could download the files onto their computer fom a personally created account on one of these sites. (possibly put in the mobile phone - ipod format for them (additional fee?) Anyone aware of mainstream business' that do this? what do they charge? Do you think this would be worth it?
