Husband admits to killing
There were defensive wounds on her arm.Wilson was charged with first-degree murder shortly after making the emergency call, and a Wake County prosecutor later said in court that Wilson called two friends to help him cover up the slaying. Two teens, Roderick Ryan Howell and Jamie Russell Holder, were charged with accessory after the fact to a felony.Early Tuesday, Wilson conceded to causing his wife's death -- a legal procedure that essentially says he agrees with a portion of the first-degree murder charge. His attorneys hope to show that he did not plan the killing, think about it ahead of time or commit it with a cool head.If Wilson is convicted of first-degree murder, jurors would choose between the death penalty and life in prison. Under second-degree or manslaughter charges, death would be off the table and lesser prison time could be given. The last defendant a Wake jury sent to death row was Byron Waring in July, for the murder of Lauren Redman.Jury selection is expected to take two weeks in Wilson's case. more
SharePoint 2007: a marriage made in heaven for information
There were public and private sector CIOs and CKOs in attendance, as well as records managers, information scientists and even corporate communications professionals.
Case studies revealed that there is an increasing demand for people with the skills in IM functions to work together to structure data and to communicate the importance of this to the business and to software providers, before any software implementation. A Forrester report said MOSS 2007's missing functionality was its lack of classification, taxonomy and metadata management to integrate information. There is a range of industrial strength back end systems emerging from third parties to provide the missing information management functionality.
Descent into information anarchy RM is all about filing and workflow, KM enables corporate collaboration, IM professionals add metadata and understand search and retrieval. more

Poor planning cited in prom cancellation
Students, parents and security hired for the Dante Club event said insufficient supervision was on hand to monitor more than 200 teens in attendance.
"There wasn't enough security," said Grade 12 student Rob Scott. "Kids were walking in with half bottles of beer. One kid brought in a duffel bag full of beer."
Others downed rum shots in the boy's bathroom before the event was shut down just before 9 p.m. he said.
"I don't understand why they couldn't just grab the few who were causing problems and throw them out," added Scott, who estimates he and his date each spent more than $300 for their big night, including the $40 prom ticket.
Michelle Rogers said cancelling the prom punished the majority of good kids.
"The security wasn't good," said Rogers. more

Opening a tanning salon(something neat and sophisticated looking.) has been in my plans since I was about 14. All during high school I was home schooled and I worked for my dad cleaning newly constructed houses/businesses before they were put on the market for sale or lease. That is until things went under and he had to file for bankruptcy on all of the residential and commercial real estate that he developed. The I went to Costco for 2 years. From the 4 or so years I worked during school, I hoarded nearly every penny I made so I could fulfill my dream as an entrepreneur when I graduated from high school. Right after graduating from the Fulton County Public School System, I was set and went out looking for SOMETHING else to do to start my career in a self-owned business. Everything exceeded what my budget was set on until my dads good friends' dad was retiring and selling his repo company. So, I knew then at that time that was my opportunity. Luckily he allowed me to finance everything since he owned the stuff and he also let me walk in his lot that he's now leasing to me. So I've been in the repossession/recovery business for over a year now and with the economy HOPEFULLY shaping up, I've really been thinking about getting rid of my trucks & selling everything(of course after I have another main source of income coming in). The main reason is because I fear in about 2-3 years from now, this economy will have improved greatly and there won't be as much recovery work to cover all of my expenses associated with my company. ---OK so now my story about my young life is over, I'll get to my main concern- Although I'm only 19 now, I've had credit since I was 15(I lied about my DOB on credit card apps which has now been corrected with all 3 credit bureaus). Every since then I ALWAYS did right and kept my credit immaculate as it still is. My Transunion FICO through MyFico is at 738 and is slowly rising as my accounts grow older and as my personal vehicle is on its way to being fully paid off. I do have credit cards, but have $0 in credit card debt. Since Mar. 8th 2009 to Dec. 31st 2009, my company has grossed approx. $480K. That number may be fairly large, but considering I have 3 other drivers/employees I pay commission to, repo insurance(nearly $13K for not even the full year), rent on my ex-car lot(just over $20K for not even the full year), tax, all utilities, and after going ahead and paying my "agent" off for financing the PC's, software, trucks etc., that number was lowered significantly. Fortunately, 2010 so far is just as busy as it has been for the past 10 months and I'm even having to send repo orders back to finance companies from not having enough time to do them all(I'm not buying another truck). Like I said, I'm really thinking about going into the tanning business and it's a decision I'll have to make between now and the next 2-3 years. Would someone like me at my age(I will be 21-22yo then) have a hard time being approved for a $300K+ loan with the following factors: Company grossed $480K.(Honestly I want to leave this out of the app.) I netted about $110K during the last 3 quarters of '09.(before all of my personal bills/expenses.) I have roughly $80K in assets(2 recovery trucks, a money market account, and other misc. things). I have 3 checking accounts(2 personal, 1 business) I have 2 savings accounts. I have tax forms that have been filed and I also have bank and broker statements to prove my income. I have above average+ personal credit but no business credit.(no debt besides personal vehicle which will be paid off in 2 years or sooner) I have the knowledge, skill and common sense to know how to properly run a business. I can produce a legitimate business proposal. Hopefully within the next 2 or so years all of my assets and everything else will have grown.(if it doesn't there's a problem. lol) I know this is a lot of info, but my life ahead is really sticking to my nerves and I need support. I saw how my dad went from one minute having a lot of real estate to the next minute having to dig into his retirement money, and I want to avoid this by all means possible. I could be making a mistake by wanting to stop repossessing vehicles but as I said, I feel when this economy shapes up I won't even be grossing enough to cover everything and I don't want to lose my ***. The big question, how will banks view my status when attempting to obtain a commercial loan for roughly $300K? Would it be best if I go through the SBA? Could I get the loan w/o having to include my total grossed income? I'm literally fretting over these things. Thank all of you guys for your support. moreResolved Question: What career path do you think will earn me the most money???
I'm a Canadian residing in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. After high school, I'm enrolling in a B.com (bachelor of commerce) program at the University of Alberta. My major will be accounting and my minor will be finance. After University, I will be pursuing a CA (Chartered Accountant) designation. I will spend a couple years working as an tax accountant/auditor. After experience as an accountant, I will be pursuing a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). When I obtain this designation, I may either i) Start an accounting practice, ii) Work as a CFA for a few years then start an investment firm or iii) Start working in the public sector. I plan on becoming a careerist and making a truck load of money. Either way, by the time I feel like I'm ready, with my wealth and business connections, I plan on starting a venture capital firm. FYI these are the only areas of business that I'm savvy in. It's to late for me to become a software tycoon or whatever. In addition, I am not naive. Someone in business and finance asked "how do I make money online". I gave him an answer on how I do it, and I was reported. I tried to appeal it and they rejected my appeal (twice) and took 20 points from my account. I feel that it was top contributors who reported me because everytime I post anything in Business and Finance, it gets reported. I think that some of the Top Contributors automatically assume that it's impossible to make money online. They think everything is a scam. I think people should be more careful when reporting answers in this section. You tell me, was this answer solicitation, and HOW? my answer: "Start an online community, a mini myspace in other words or forum. I have a few dating sites and I use adwords to get members. The site is free and I only have about 800 members so far on my main site, but once I have more (about 5,000 or more), I will place ads on there and make money from the ads just like myspace does. There's free software out there for social sites so after you install it, you just work on getting members to sign up. I use Google adwords to advertise mainly. My main site is an asian site so its cheaper for me to advertise since I only only show ads to people out of Asian countries. This is cheaper for advertising, but it also means I'll make less once I place ads on there, because clicks from people in Asia don't pay as well since they don't buy as much online as Americans, Canadians etc. As far as selling domains, that's not easy. I used to do it but it's just getting harder now with the economy the way it is. But most of the people I sold domains to were other domain investors. Advertising is recession proof though. There is always people who are looking to advertise their businesses, even when the economy is bad. Another thing you can do is buy misspelled domains or domains you think you can park. I park domains and some have been pretty successful. There's this one celebrity that just became real famous (realized I can't say his name for certain reasons), and right around the time this was happening, I bought about 4 domain names that are misspellings of his name. Now people searching for his name on the internet who misspell it, end up at my parked page, where I have ads that some of them click on."notice how I said "There's free software out there". They got me so nervous just to mention any company other than Google in this section. I took extra precaution and was still reported. Why? moreVoting Question: Do I have to pay taxes?
I'm a stay at home mom and my husband is a software engineer. He owns his own business and pays up to 60k in tax annually. My 11 yr old son and I make some extra cash selling video games online. It was his idea and he does most of the work. I just help. We don't have a registered company yet. Annual income from this would be 20k, profit would be 10k. Most of this is recorded in my son's bank account. Do we have to pay taxes on this? Thanks. moreVoting Question: Please critique my resume!?

I worked as a computer programmer for a complete cheapskate for close to 3 years. I worked on an accounting software package. My pay and benefits were substandard, and I got no severance pay despite the fact that I did nothing wrong and was laid off solely due to a lack of business. I was laid off over a year ago and have not worked since, but I am not hard up for money. My ex-boss had resellers, and his main reseller requested a new module, which I did most of the work on. It was fairly complicated, and this reseller now needs some help and my boss doesn't want to deal with it. He suggested having me work on it, and an estimate was requested. I tried to give a rough estimate, but it looks like a fairly small project that will take a few days or perhaps a week. I have 2 issues. First, taking on this work could potentially cause me to lose unemployment benefits, due to cutoff dates for the various extensions. Right now this won't affect me, but it could later on. For example, I don't want to lose 6 weeks of Tier 4 benefits because 1 week of working caused me to miss the cutoff date. While it is unlikely that this will mess me up, it is possible. And if I get a job before my benefits run out, I'll lose a week of benefits for each week of work. So if I'm going to do any work, I think need to make substantially more than what I get from unemployment for it to be worthwhile. The second issue is that at least indirectly, this reseller is connected to my ex-boss and she was actually involved indirectly in my hiring and substandard pay. While I have nothing against her, by doing her a favor I'm indirectly helping my ex-boss. This client is desperate and I'm the only one who is willing and able to help. When I was more desperate and needed a job, my boss took advantage by paying as little as possible. So now I think it's just as fair for me to take advantage and charge her as much as possible. Ideally it would have been my ex-boss who would have asked me, but I think I'm entitled to charge the client the "ex-boss" rate under the circumstances. I wouldn't do this if the work had nothing to do with my ex-boss. I think that a fair hourly rate for me for work in general is about $75/hour. In reality, I'd probably have to take $35-$50, depending on the situation. In this case, being that my expertise is needed, the client is desperate, and I want to charge "ex-boss" rates, I'm thinking of asking for $150/hour with a 20 hour per week minimum for any week that I do any work. The minimum is more to make it worthwhile for me as far as any risk in unemployment benefits, since each week that I work can mess me up. What do you think I should try to ask for? Take into account that while making a few thousand extra dollars would be nice, I don't need the money. I want to charge a very high price, but one that could be somewhat justified, as opposed to asking for something totally outrageous and being a complete jerk. Im not going to lower the rate to get her to hire me, I'm going to use the same "take it or leave it" attitude that my boss used when he didn't want to give me something I requested. Do you think I should try asking for $175/hour or $200/hour? I originally was going to ask for $125/hour, but I changed my mind and thought I should be able to get more, especially considering that this is a short term project and everything else I mentioned. To Endang: I'm sure there are plenty of Visual FoxPro programmers available at much lower rates, but what I did is very specific and complex and requires a big learning curve. I did the work and understand it and can fix it much more easily than anyone else. My ex-boss could handle it, although probably with some difficulty, but he doesn't want to deal with it. Even a very talented programmer making $25/hour might end up costing more than paying me $200/hour, not because I'm so great, but because there is so much involved in understanding what is going on and how things were set up.I talked to a friend of mine who works in the IT industry, and she thought it was reasonable to charge $150/hour but that I should not go any higher, so that's what I'll do. It needs to be taken into account that while the extra money would be very nice, I don't particularly need it. My attitude is that if she says no and doesn't want to pay that much, it's too bad for her, let her see if she can get someone else. I'm absolutely not negotiating my price down. moreResolved Question: I want to create a map-based website and I don't know how to begin; can anybody help (read details below)?
I am looking to create a site where users can define a location and then search within a user-specified radius. Now, I know that whatever method I use, I need geocoding so that users can access address information, but I don't want users to be able to search for local businesses and the like. Instead, I'd like to tie my own data to certain addresses, for example create the label 'Home' for 1234 Baker St. and then to give the label certain attributes like 'good times' and 'sleep'. In effect, if a user searches for 'good times' or 'sleep' and 1234 baker street is within the specified radius, the results will return the address, the label as well as create a pointer on the map. I need the scope of the database to be infinitely scalable. I need the map to be able to return information and create pointers for every address that contains the searched attribute that exists within the specified radius. I imagine that this should be possible with the google maps API but I am working with basic knowledge of flash, HTML, Dreamweaver and little to no JavaScript. Ultimately I would like for users to be able to create accounts and input their own data that would then be available to other users. Can anyone provide me with any solid suggestions on how to even get started with such a project? Anybody know a definitive source, perhaps a text, where I can learn how to do all of this? Or perhaps, dare I ask, a really easy piece of software that will do it all for me? moreResolved Question: Cant get my Mail working properly!!?
Hi all, Having a problem with my e-mails I’m using Microsoft office 2003 as a mail client for an eircom.net pop 3 account, the problem is mails not being sent or received to and from only some addresses there is no common factors with the addresses such as domain names as well as this, the problem is intermittent, some days they will get through other days they wont. My office pop 3 and SMTP settings are correct and I have tried sending mails from the web-mail based service just to make sure with no luck. I am receiving no messages from mailer daemons indicating that there were any problems with deliveries. I have also scanned my system for any malicious software even though I thought it was an unlikely cause. If anyone could offer any help it would be much appreciated, it is a very frustrating problem due to the facts that it is so intermittent, this is a business address and changing my address is not really an option. My husband is a freelance musician and I look after his accounts. His business is really taking off and he now has such a variety of work from so many different people its getting hard to keep track. I have been searching for a piece of software that can do the following: - Provide a calendar format viewing pane to see at a glance what jobs he has each day (to mirror his paper diary which will also serve as a backup if he loses it). - Enter income and expenses. - Categorize jobs ie pub gigs, guitar lessons, old peoples homes... - Apply an employer to each job with full contact details - Be able to track phone calls/emails to prospective employers - Generate reports to show where different sources where the income has come from every month - Generate invoices and show overdue and paid invoices The software doesn't need to be able to do VAT, neither do I need to connect to a bank account or reconcile the account. It would be preferable for the software to work on a mac or a pc but to be honest if I can just find something that does all the above I don't care which platform its on. I also don't mind whether its online or not. To give you a better idea of what i'm after I currently use 'Personal Finances' http://www.financessoftware.com/index.php?gclid=CM2X_4-sop8CFRlr4woddHqVZA which is really great and user friendly, but it doesn't have a contact database or the ability to generate invoices. Everything else is great with this tho. Please help if you know of anything that does this, I have been searching for ages! Thank you.Sorry, have tried to use excel and I just don't get on with it. There's too many different things I want to link together, extract etc. I just haven't got the patience for excel. I know its lazy but I want something that looks pretty, like the personal finance software I currently use. Thanks. moreVoting Question: Tally (accounts software) alternative for Linux?

Please suggest if there is any other. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Why should I respect the law when it's impossible to obey it?
I just spend two and a half hours trying to download music LEGALLY, and failed. I've been to Amazon, and it requires a credit card to buy music, and I hate credit cards which are basically usury scams, so that didn't work. I tried using itunes, which allows you to use a PayPal account, which I have, and I thought I was in business, but guess what? itunes requires that you back up/verify your account with a CREDIT CARD. Of course you could also use a debit card from your bank...if it's a Mastercard or Visa brand, which my bank doesn't use because it's not involved in the corporate usury scheme like BofA and Chase, so better luck next time. I didn't give up there, either. I went to iLike, but they didn't have the song available for purchase. I went to eMusic, but you have to pay a monthly fee to use the service, which is a waste of money considering that its search engine sucks and most of the songs(even popular songs) are hard or impossible to find. To make a long story short, the only copy of the song I could download legally without any computer problems was an mp3 file, which isn't compatible with the editing software that I use(Windows Movie Maker). It just plays without any sound at all. This isn't the first time I've had this problem either, and I can't wait until my mp3 player dies in a few months and I have to throw it away because the lithium ion battery is integrated. I find a new reason to hate corporate capitalism every day...*spent* not spendI do make my own music, but the song I need is a rap song for a rap/hip-hop themed YouTube video, and I'm not experienced at doing rap songs. To the second answerer who is obviously implying that I'm looking for excuses to steal music, I've spent a lot of time and money trying to do this the right way, and I'm sick of my friends feeling like criminals when they resort to illegal methods. THEY aren't the criminals. Not morally anyway.ice, I haven't even gotten to the upload stage yet. It won't work even in editing mode. I've also tried putting mp3 files through WMM to listen to on CD, and had the same problem.@MSAD, my debit card has a cirrus logo, which I think is a "version" of Mastercard, but on itunes they asked me to input the last three numbers on the back of the card, but there weren't any numbers on the back(except the ones in small print on the very bottom). My card didn't look at all like the example card's layout.@juvrug, on more than one occasion I have paid for a song twice because of a failed download or other complication. You're the second person to accuse me of looking for excuses. Am I seeing a trend? I tried to do the prepaid credit card and they were going to rip me off big time. Once again, Visa and Mastercard are usury scams. At least wizip was helpful with the copyright free music suggestion. I'm going to try that for my video. Also I have spent over $50 on software for converting files, recognizing drivers, and I have three editing programs(none of which are compatible with mp3's). That $50 was wasted and I'm not about to purchase a $100 program from Best Buy that I've never used nor trust, seeing as I've made that mistake in the past as well(not $100, but around $40). I could just be not very tech smart, but it shouldn't be this hard to download a simple song. As far as buying it at the store, for this particular song that would work, except it would cost me $10 and I don't even like the song! It's just for a 30 second video. And what am I supposed to do when I want a song that isn't available in ANY stores, like trance music? Which is usually the case. I can't stand pop music. moreResolved Question: I am self employed, how good is H&R Block for filing business taxes?
I have always used an accountant to do this, and I am pretty sure that they are ripping me off since they always have an excuse to charge me hundreds more than their quote. Like she would say "only $150 if I organize my records in a certain way, so I do that exactly and she thanks me on getting them organized perfectly, yet still charges me $300 and says it is due to buying new Quickbook software". I tried searching for other accounts but they charge $300+ too. I created a script that automatically categories every single penny I have spent on my business, very clean and only a couple of pages long. I am wondering if I can try H&R Block for this? When I worked a regular job I used to go to them and they seem like regular Walmart type employees, not degree carrying accountants who are working to build their reputation and client base. So would H&R Block give me all of the possible tax deductions (and can they file all of this electroonically?) for a normal rate around $100 dollars? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Best accounting software for start-up LLC ?
A gentleman and myself are starting up another company, in the form of an LLC, and wanted your opinion on what you feel to be the best accounting software to be used with a small startup business. I've heard of titles such as Peachtree Complete Accounting, Quickbooks Premiere Pro, etc. Have you used any of these popular titles, and if so, why do you like it so much for your small business? (Pros & Cons) I'm the co-founder & CEO of an S corporation of which we hire a CPA to do all of our accounting work. We believe with this much smaller business startup model, we shouldn't be needing to spend the funds on hiring another CPA to do the work for this company, as we should be able to do it ourselves, but with the assistance of software recommendations made by you! moreResolved Question: Do I have a chance at becoming a hustler?
I'm in high school right now and I'm located in a country(was U.S.A, right now... in continent of asia) which I suppose has a very bright future, since I was a kid , It was my dream to always end up in a high flying blue collar job somewhere up in Wall Street and slowly become a partner of big firms, but I have so many ambitions, but my wall street dreams deviated once I moved to the land of the software people, I have so much on my mind, I'm currently taking the Business and Commerce stream in my high school and most of my classes are cakewalks for me, I used to flunk half the time in tenth with science and math, I still have math but I mean the Business Studies textbook and Economics textbooks come to me naturally, I dont even have to study for tests and I can ace them, I savour every bit of these books... I'm not an einstein at math so acing the SAT test and landing in some Ivy league is not my priority, it is to me, still a dream. But one great thing I got going for myself right now , sorry if I sound like an oppertunist(hey, told ya I wanted to be a hustler), but right now, I go to one of the most prestigious schools in my city and I have politician's sons as my friends, and construction baron descendants sitting behind my chair, I mean, I know people to can make things happen with a clap. When I get back to the states, I plan to go to a decent B-School and bachelor in accounting, as that is the blood of all forms of business and it would help me become business literate, and then I plan to major in Finance....after that, I plan to become an ERP consultant in case any of my plans dont work as I obviously need a back-up strategy, I will later use the initial salary earned for my ambitions should anything go haywire.....but if the wind is right, I plan to use some of my "connections"(trust me, not petty people, close people too) as my venture capitalists, to start my own soft-drink company, and after a few years, I plan start a construction/real estate company (like TRUMP)and take both of my companies public, eventually I also would like to fullfill my dreams of starting an electric automobile company along with a Insurance company. My dad(who was a small time restuarant owner), has a little idea about my plans, as I told him, but I didn't exactly give him the blueprint I gave you guys even though I think he has an Idea. All I want to know is am I being too overconfident or am I correct about my timing? I consider my self very fortunate to have the right things happen to me so far, its like everything is lined up for me, all I got to do is shoot. I know exactly how hard it is to fulfill dreams, everybody has dreams, only some fulfill it. My mom say isn't exactly pessimistic but she knows me and my network, and I dont think the chances I have aren't something I'm overmining, am I? Let's think about it, sons of politicians, sons of barons as my friends, potential backers, dreams of mine...they can pay for. See, I dont want to act overconfidant and start crying if any of these visions actually get nowhere, but I'm a person who believes in vision, and I wouldn't even rely on just my contacts to get me anywhere, but I can trick a person into buying their own shoes.....Plus I have great managerial skills.... So I'm being optimistic. Is everything in my favour? moreVoting Question: If I can't afford a CPA, then who or what should do my taxes?
For those of us in the lower marginal brackets, who should we let do our taxes? Up to this point, the overriding response (which I greatly appreciate, naysayers included) has been that CD-ROMS are still as innacurrate as the person deciding where the input goes, tax preparers in most states still not need licensing, therefore they are totally unreliable and unverifiable, and even large firms like H&R Block are still abound with errors. If all the aforementioned is correct, then who do I go to if I cannot afford a CPA? Apparently, any alternative to a CPA is no good. While this may be true, the majority of people will never use a CPA unless they absolutely have to, and can afford to do so. So, what if I want to do taxes and I have an accounting degree and one year tax experience, plus 5+ years of online preparation for myself and my family, plus drive and ability? Should I schlep around H&R Block when they are comfortable selling software to the unknowing and uneducated taxpayer? Should I try to work for some tax office whose manager has a GED and a gold tooth? What if these are my only alternatives to starting my own tax business? What if I have a family to feed? What if no CPA firm is currently hiring college graduates? What if I have IRS training, familiarity with a reputable software, produced by company who has a customer-service hotline, and I turn down taxpayers who require a very complex return. What if I could access a large, large base of potential clients with a couple of newspaper advertisements? Could I pull it off? Would I be probably end up being sued? What if I was the most ethical person you ever met? What if I was vehimately opposed to corrupt or questionable tax schemes? And, I made a consicous effort to not prepare returns that were too complex. (Remember, I am an accountant, I have had several tax and business classes, I have been exposed and tested on many tax issues, albeit some more difficult than others.) But, can it work if I work my ass off, I research whenever I get confused, I take proactive steps to limit any errors (such as I'm doing now), and I make sure to remain as professional to my clients as one would expect? Then what? Could it work? Remember, I'm planning on targeting a very large potential customer pool, in several cities. What are my odds? If so many others are doing it (GED and Gold Tooth), why cant I? Please, all opinions are sincerely appreciated. Even if you think I'm still a total idiot, I still really appreciate your opinion, so long as you rationalize. Anyways, thanks again for all your great answers. Please keep em coming. moreResolved Question: Do I have a shot at the Peace Corps in Asia?

I have a small business with 4 employees. We are all currently using different email clients (free accounts, like Yahoo, Hotmail, MSN, Gmail). We each have our own work email addresses (name@businessname.com) set up to send/receive emails to our separate free email accounts, and separate calendars. If I want to look at my coworkers' calendars, I have to log on to three separate websites! We are starting to really rapidly grow, and need to streamline our work emails; make it more open and viewable by each of us, especially our calendars. Great feature to have would also be the ability to share files (some sort of storagecapability, accessible from anywhere) I've been looking at different hosted Email Clients, such as Blue Tie, which has a lot of the features I want, except that they don't support the free accounts that my business is currently using. Is there a software or hosted Email Client out there which supports free email accounts? If not, what would be the best way to have all my emails/contacts/calendar from my Yahoo transferred into a new account that I set up with whatever Email Client I choose in the end? HR Supervisor moreVoting Question: Should I quit my partnership?
I am currently in a partnership/software startup. I am still in the early stages, and I am doing it part time. I had an argument with one of the partners (we are 4 in total) earlier. Basically, he talked down to me publicly and I politely mentioned that I did not "appreciate being talked to that way". After that, he lashed out and and brought up all the "bad things" that I have done (note that he never mentioned it before, ever). He was being very rude and arrogant, and even claimed that I lied to him about missing some meetings. We get meeting invitations through Gmail, and on some occasions I don't receive an invite. He thinks I lie and I say that to get out of it, when I sincerely never receive some of the invitations. There is a serious lack of trust between me and him. I trust him enough to let him handle all the money in his personal account since we do not have a business account. This was all over email. I didn't hear anything from the other partners. I did suspect that he didn't want me there, but he was never vocal about it. I do think that it is reasonable to expect him or anyone else to tell me if they had a problem. He is very power hungry too. He does see himself as the "leader" but he doesn't behave like one when it gets sticky. Resorting to name calling and disciplining as you would a child, while including all the other partners in the email chain is poor leadership I think. So what should I do? Should I stay or leave? Legally I am not obliged to leave. I also have nothing to lose by staying, but I am not sure if working with someone who has trust issues is a good idea. We operate on a "reward based on merit" type of thing so it will not affect him much either. Also, am I right in saying that he exercised poor judgment and leadership when he publicly called me out out of the blue?Poster said to "leave". What if the company has some potential? Then again, it's hit or miss with software... moreResolved Question: Do I pay taxes on a settlement against a bank?
I left my job of 10 years with Kraft foods, and moved to a small town because we were assuming a SBA loan to buy the towns grocery store. The local bank was handling it. The loan officer/ vice president told us everything was fine. We moved, got all of our licenses, permits, accounts with venders set-up...and even had meetings with the main food supplier. Everything seemed great. The banker even said we needed to get a life insurance policy for the amount of the SBA loan assumption, $300k . We were not rich, or even upper class. We managed to get togother around $18,000 after selling a camper and tax refund. We moved in July of 2008...and for 4 months all we heard from the bank was..."EVERYTHING IS FINE, JUST WAITING ON SBA REDTAPE"..I went against their wishes and called the SBA myself, only to realize... while the bank HAD talked and emailed the SBA about us...the bank NEVER ACTUALLY sent the paperwork in , or the formal written application. The bank tried to blame it on the SBA..and said they lost it. My question..."if the bank talked in emails and on the phone to the SBA like they.. AND the SBA said...wouldn't it have come up in conversation sometime...."oh, there is no application"?..anyways, fast forward, we have a great case, I have a stack of emails from the bank...and they basically hung themselves for whatever reason. Our credit was ruined , I have not been able to find ANY work in about one year now, I'm 42 and factory is what I knew. Bad time to look for a job I know....This ruined us, our credit is terrible, we have 2 credit cards with less than $8,000..that we just cannot pay...we have went thru the money saved. we are getting food stamps and cash...any less man might have killed himself, or done something else stupid. The business lawyer that set up our buying contract is handling this, and it looks like the bank is going to give in. We asked for $250k. The house we had before we couldn't sell, the bank took it....no job for over one year, credit ruined(hard to put a value on ruined credit)...some money we did spend on this(computer, software...and what not)...anyways...........Is this settlement taxed? I'm not for sure , while part of it is for lost wages , some is recovery, and some is the ruined credit...and what we have had to go thru now....we are in Missouri. There is a list of things the bank did to us..including possible fraud. Our attorney, said if it went to court...we could a jury trial even..if my attorney fees are deductable...I don't have money to pay him now, he is getting a % of settlement. I have had no income to pay ANY federal tax this year, my wife has worked part time at walmart..but they have not been taking any out either, we have needed every penny to live on.. moreResolved Question: Vista Business Admin Password Reset - HELP?

I currently have a toshiba satellite with a core 2 duo T5500 with 2gb of ram and 200gb hdd... This still runs as good as when I got it, but I am looking for something better. I am a full time student with basic software, run a business with accounting and estimating software, and do a little online gaming, but nothing serious. I don't need a hard core gaming laptop, but I have a lot of music and will be getting into creating and editing it as well I am beginning to work a lot with photoshop and other graphic design. Agan, nothing serious, but i would like to have a powerful laptop that could handle all of that with no problems. I am partial to Toshiba, just because I have had 2 of them in the past and never had any problems at all, but I am open to the best for my money. So, what computer do you recommend? or what specs should I look for in one? I would love to keep it under 2000 if possible, but definitely no higher than 4000. A large hdd is important, but not a priority since I have a few external ones for music, etc......thanks! moreResolved Question: Is this work at home job a scam?

Okay so I signed up for this receptionist job on craiglist. They emailed me back and all and seemed pretty legit. Now I'm a few steps away from being a official employee with them but before I do that, they requested a few things from me. They said that they will provide some equipments for me to use on the job, this is an internet data entry job. They will provide a 1. laptop 2. software They requested the following information from me: 1. How many hours I can work a day 2. What's the time interval I can work (IE, afternoon, morning, etc) 3. Payroll interval (weekly or bi weekly) 4. Payroll method (bank transfer or check) They said they'll give me money via wire transfer to purchase some accounting software and they want my full name, address, telephone number and email. Is this a scam? They said they'll send me money to buy things, and they're not asking for anything in return only to just buy the software I need to do the job. They said that they're a new company. They gave me a number, I called it and it seems out of order. They said their website will be under construction and will be done in the next 10 business days. I googled their company and found nothing on it, but it can only be a coincidence right? I mean they are pretty new, that's what they claim. Is this a scam? moreResolved Question: Any reliable small business accounting services known in DC and Virginia?

I am 30 years old and I am thinking of going back to school next year to get a MBA/JD from any of the top schools out there. I have a degree in Accounting and International Business Management and a Masters in Accountancy. I have 3 kids and a stay at home wife. My greatest interest is the law in today's business world, and I would like to work in international banking some day because of my language skills and my exposure to overseas experience. I made some choices after graduation not to join the GMAC banking group in London but to stay in the states and work from my state because of my wife's proximity to her family. I felt that was a mistake as I could have furthered my career internationally and really grown. I've been working at a software company as their Accountant for the past 5 years and I feel like I am not getting anywhere in life. We've decided as a family for me to get back into school and I want to get a JD at the same time with a MBA. So I have been really wondering if it's even worth getting a MBA/JD with 3 kids and a mortgage, now with 4 more years of school. I make around $55k/year living in UT, but if I went to London I could be making2-3 times more (trust me I regret that decision, but it's for the family) Any suggestions or help will be awesome, thanks guys. moreResolved Question: Has anyone responded to an e-mail like this? is it a scam?

Okay, so for a while now i have been considering investing in a new computer like a mac and a kit to edit and burn dvds from vhs. What i was planning on doing was burning these dvds for local people in my small town of 10,000+ and family / friends. To start this i need -new vhs player $40ish -software $80 -mac $1000ish or pc - $800-1000 external hard drive $60 Now what i need to know from you people out there is. Would you pay for this service? would you pay to have your old vhs home videos converted to dvd with transitions - possibly menu depending on the time it takes... gift case etc. **would try to add alot of charm to the collection to make it look professional and something that would be given as a gift also** -Also i would be willing to put these files on a free media hosting site, so in the case that they ever lost the file or don't have a dvd burner etc. they could download the files onto their computer fom a personally created account on one of these sites. (possibly put in the mobile phone - ipod format for them (additional fee?) Anyone aware of mainstream business' that do this? what do they charge? Do you think this would be worth it? What would you be willing to pay? I'm a senior in highschool and will be needing to purchase a notebook for school next year anyways. Also i would be doing this on the side while i work a part time job. thanks!it would ONLY be for family videos being as if i converted normal videos to dvd it may violate some kind of copyright laws. Standard family video copying would be like $10-12 ea depending on how you intricate you want the dvd to be (menus chapters transitions - converted to ipod format etc) moreResolved Question: What kind of market do you think there is for this?
