“A $1 billion get-out-of-court-free card," he calls it. Congress also is applying pressure. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., has introduced a “cell phone bill of rights" that would require penalties to be pro-rated over time. Customers also would get a grace period in which they could cancel a contract with no penalty. In the face of such pressure, the large cellular service providers have been rolling back termination fees. Starting next week, for example, AT&T will reduce its $175 termination fee by $5 for every month of a contract. A customer who canceled after six months would pay $145. AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel notes that the company already offers a free 30-day cancellation period for new subscribers. Other companies do as well. The phone companies argue that ending termination fees would raise costs for customers. more

Shares in Moss Bros (MOSB.L: Quote, Profile, Research) fell 12 percent to 40 pence on Tuesday after Baugur announced the execution-risk associated with completing its offer for the menswear group was unacceptable. Baugur said it had arranged all the necessary funding to go ahead with a takeover. Chief executive Gunnar Sigurdsson said: "We are disappointed by recent developments that have effectively frustrated our proposed offer, but remain supportive of the management team." Philip Mountford is now expected to step down as chief executive of Moss Bros, while chairman Keith Hamill had previously stated his intention to leave at the end of the bid process.

FSC, PEFC, 100% recycled and carbon neutral papers are just some of the environmental options available, with the latter being the most recent initiative to hit the market.

Like most schemes, once the paper’s carbon footprint is established, manufacturers offset it by investing in green projects. At the same time, customers can choose papers that have a low carbon footprint because they have been sourced locally. For example, in the US, Rolling Stone magazine became the first mainstream magazine to print with carbon neutral paper, using Canadian-made Catalyst Cooled. Most manufacturers are now offering partly or fully recycled paper in their range of products. more

Okay, so for a while now i have been considering investing in a new computer like a mac and a kit to edit and burn dvds from vhs. What i was planning on doing was burning these dvds for local people in my small town of 10,000+ and family / friends. To start this i need -new vhs player $40ish -software $80 -mac $1000ish or pc - $800-1000 external hard drive $60 Now what i need to know from you people out there is. Would you pay for this service? would you pay to have your old vhs home videos converted to dvd with transitions - possibly menu depending on the time it takes... gift case etc. **would try to add alot of charm to the collection to make it look professional and something that would be given as a gift also** -Also i would be willing to put these files on a free media hosting site, so in the case that they ever lost the file or don't have a dvd burner etc. they could download the files onto their computer fom a personally created account on one of these sites. (possibly put in the mobile phone - ipod format for them (additional fee?) Anyone aware of mainstream business' that do this? what do they charge? Do you think this would be worth it? What would you be willing to pay? I'm a senior in highschool and will be needing to purchase a notebook for school next year anyways. Also i would be doing this on the side while i work a part time job. thanks!it would ONLY be for family videos being as if i converted normal videos to dvd it may violate some kind of copyright laws. With the hugely popular Apple iPhone and now Google getting into the cell phone market, Verizon's stronghold on cell service could be seeing some trouble because of their business model. They want you to pay for everything, every application on your phone, every kilobyte of data transferred, all of it. And yet, the iPhone and Google phones are largely successful due to their free applications. Look at what Apple does. They have opened up their development kits for anyone to make their own application and host it for download. Many are free, but most are still paid, and this works great. I think that Verizon will need to shift their plans and allow more freedom to their users. Otherwise, they will get hurt badly by the future software developments in cell phone technology. more

Voting Question: what are the latest, user-friendly CAD programs that I can download free via the internet?

last time I've heard of a CAD program was the autoCAD, the software used by engineers or architects for blueprints or the like.. I'm not really knowledgeable about this since its way off my study, which is nursing.. i'm looking for such program because i'm planning to make a design proposal of a building that is in connection to our family business college... is there any CAD programs that I can download free via the internet that is user-friendly? thanks in advance for the answers... ^_^ aidz ^_^ more

Resolved Question: How do I install an activity tracker on a dataone broadband modem for multiple users?

We have a type II wireless modem provided by dataone (dataone.in) from broadband at the office, since we have a Business Plan and limited usage for a month, I would like to have a log over the LAN or via the modem (if possible) of all downloads/uploads activities taking place. Would anyone know of any free software which can be installed for such a purpose? Thank you so much. more
