There are three valid measures of success — project, governance and business — and their all interrelated and equally valid.

Project success can include the successful implementation of a solution, governance success can include realization of the business outcomes, and business success can include a smooth transition and staff satisfaction with the outcomes.

All of these measures must be known, acknowledged, and focused on. Only achievement of all three sets of success measures constitutes full "success" and value.

Conventional approaches to project delivery don't identify these three sets of measures, so value delivery management requires organizations to implement or upgrade their 'Project Success Definition and Measurement' processes in such a way as to identify, plan, and deliver all three sets of success measures. more

'Staycation' heaven

Wal-Mart has just launched its "American Summer" campaign, while Target and Kohl's have created advertising to sell stuff -- coolers, barbecues, outdoor furniture, yard aquatic gear, and more -- to people who will be staying close to home this year.

Or maybe they're not even that smart. After all, gas prices have crossed the $4-a-gallon Rubicon and airlines are so squeezed that you'd hardly be surprised to hear that passengers soon will have to pay to use the toilet.

And the overall economy? Well, it's either tanking or doing such a good imitation of tanking that everyone is hanging on to their wallets, anyway.

Truth be told, all the clever marketing in the world probably isn't going to turn into a retail bonanza these next few months. When even Starbuck's is complaining that its regulars have abandoned their usual decaf-soy-frappucino for a cup of plain ol' coffee, who needs to spend on a bunch of backyard stuff?

Fortunately for all of us who live in gorgeous Boulder County, a "staycation" is a pretty appealing idea. more

RealNetworks To Spin Off Its Game Business; Considering IPO

Rafat is reporting over on our sister site PaidContent.org that RealNetworks (NSDQ: RNWK) says it will spin-off its global casual games business into an independent company by the end of the year. The company is looking at two scenarios: distributing shares of the new company to shareholders, or complete an IPO and sell up to 20 percent of the new company's shares.
