China's Ping An speeds up pre-IPO business -paper

The move is part of Ping An's ambitious plan to speed up the development of its private equity business in the next three years, the Shanghai Securities News said, citing a source said to be aware of the situation.

Ping An, China's second-largest life insurer, plans to invest 100 billion yuan ($14.34 billion) in its private equity, infrastructure construction and property industries that could later issue initial public offers, the newspaper said, citing a company plan that has not yet been disclosed.

The newspaper report did not offer a breakdown to the investment, or other details elaborating on the development plan.

The South China Morning Post reported in April that Ping An had set up a 20 billion yuan private equity unit to invest in pre-initial public offering financing deals. more

Business is booming for SA supply chain

The report found a significant correlation between supply chain reform and business success. Most often, reform involved a re-evaluation of supplier and customer relationships in facing up to growth and globalisation imperatives.

“The companies that mastered complexity were usually early adopters who identified the pockets of opportunity that exist for those operating out of Africa. Those who built up supply chains early have benefited. For latecomers, there are choices — accept a move to complexity and invest in skills, or focus on being strong locally in their own markets. Playing globally requires investing in greater capability to avoid marginalisation,” said Van Wyk.
