Shree Precoated to hive off its steel business into separate co

MUMBAI: The Ajmera group-controlled Shree Precoated Steels, which has interests in real estate and steel, has decided to hive off its steel business into a separate company. This will be a reverse merger as the Mumbai-based group had earlier merged its real estate assets with Shree Precoated Steels.

The group will rename Shree Precoated Steels as Ajmera Real Estate and Infrastructure, while the demerged entity will be known as Shree Precoated Steels, said Shree Precoated Steels CFO OP Gandhi. The group had mandated PricewaterhouseCoopers to advise it on the demerger, he told ET. The Ajmera family owns 62.45% in Shree Precoated Steels, according to BSE data.

Post-demerger, Ajmera Real Estate and Infrastructure will hold the group's five real estate projects — three in Mumbai (Wadala, Kanjur Marg and Ghatkopar) and one each in Bangalore and Bahrain. more

Frank Kramer, 66, whose father started the business in 1932, said he is selling the store "because I've been doing it for 46 years and it's time to move on to something new in my life." Another reason, he said, is to ensure that the store goes to an owner who will be committed to it long into the future. He said the store is profitable and that he is in no rush to sell.

"The role of a bookstore in a physical place must continue, and I want it to," Kramer said yesterday. He said he wants to put more time and effort into Cambridge Local First, an organization of locally owned businesses that he cofounded.

His father, Mark Kramer, founded the store on what is now John F. Kennedy Street, mainly to sell used books, later expanding into academic books - not textbooks - but intellectual works that would be assigned by college professors. more

Hypothetical situation: let's say I own a business where I sell toys. I buy straight from a manufacturer and sell straight to the supplier. However, my business is still only in its first year of trading. I do not employ any staff and want to increase my productivity and efficiency. What software can I use to help me keep track of inventory, manage my orders, keep a list of stores (suppliers) to whom I sell, etc.? Resolved Question: Help! Female co-worker is driving me crazy!!?

There is a woman at work whose behavior is driving me nuts. The place I work for is a small business (less than 2 dozen employees). I've worked there for about two years now, and she's worked there for about 3 years. Technically, her title is the same as mine, but she behaves and is often treated like a member of management. That's all fine and good, but this woman goes out of her way to step on other people to make herself and her ideas dominate the entire office environment. I can't do my work without her stopping to tell me what I should do differently. She will literally stand over my shoulder and ask me "so.. how's it going?" That sentence right there makes me cringe. No matter what I say or what I show her i'm doomed. I have tried ignoring her and telling her it's not a big deal, but it's a small office, and everybody knows everybody else's business. She always insists on putting her two cents in, and she acts like she's doing the world a favor. The trouble is, her criticism is always negative and she never offers any useful suggestions. Her favorite thing to suggest is that you put your project on hold until she figures out what she wants to do with it. Yeah, right. Most people would probably blow her off. Hard to do with her. She tends to throw a big fit and finds plently of other ways to make your work day intolerable if you don't show her everything you're doing. I've been noticing a pattern lately. I'll be working on something, the manager will come by and give me some suggestions, a few words of encouragement, and the go ahead to proceed. Then after a few days, this co-worker will appear (after she knows I've been working on this project for a little while) and she'll get all huffy and tell me i'm doing it all wrong. She'll pick it apart in the cruelest possible way until all the things I felt good about in the project are gone. Where was she two days ago, when I first started? Why didn't she give me a game plan then? I don't understand her logic. She'll rip everything apart, and tell me all the things I did wrong, yet, she never gives me any suggestions on what I should do to make it right. It's almost like she enjoys making other people feel two inches tall. She has this look that she gives people that makes my skin crawl. As if to say, "you better do as I say or i'll rip out your eyeballs and eat them for lunch" She also has this habit of going to the manager and convincing her that what i'm doing is all wrong. The next thing I know i'm being told by my manager (the same person who just gave me the thumbs up to proceed) that I need to scrap everything and put the entire project on hold until my co-worker and management figure out what they want to do. It's confusing and unproductive to have a manager give you the go ahead and then make you scrap your work based on another employee's opinions. It's insulting. I don't appreciate someone posing as a manager ripping my stuff apart and acting like what i've done is child's play. I'm the only one there that even has a clue how to use the software needed to complete the project. And the other day my co-worker asked that I explain how the software works. First of all, it took me years to acquire what I know about the ins and outs of this software. It isn't something you learn overnight. And secondly... what? Is she serious?? Is she trying to push me off the ledge here? She's nuts, I tell you. And as good as she is at criticizing other people's ideas, she has very few solid ideas herself. She's also unorganized, and myself and my other co-workers have noticed that it takes forever just to get projects off the ground when she's at the wheel. I just don't understand why management keep going along with whatever my co-worker wants. It's bad for morale and productivity. Maybe they don't realize what's really going on? Or maybe they are trying to avoid conflict? I don't know. I need help though. I don't know how to deal with this person. Any suggestions for what I could say to her? Should I approach my manager about my co-workers behavior? If so, What should I say? Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks! more

I currently work part time for a small startup IT/Customer support business in Seattle called In City Networks, LLC. I have a great relationship with my boss and my clients but the business is on the back burner right now and we are not actively acquiring new clients so there isn’t quite enough work to pay the bills. However, I love the job. In City Networks is similar to Best Buy’s Geek Squad, we provide Hardware and software support, peripheral installation/support, we even help setup home theater systems. And all of our services are provided remotely or in person. I am also familiar with documenting my work and using that as a tool to troubleshoot future problems and keep track of steps already performed so I do not waste time and money implementing steps and procedures which have already taken place. As I said before, I am a jack-of-all trades. Not only in the IT field though, have my skills ranged from automotive repair to cooking to just about anything! I am motivated to succeed at any task that is thrown my way and I do so very thoroughly with attention to detail. Whenever I come across a problem that I cannot troubleshoot on my own I put my research skills to work. I use all tools made available to me to find the answers to any question or solve any problem I may have. I also provide excellent customer service and communication, two things I learned while working as a cashier at QFC. Throughout my educational career I have served as both a great team player and leader. As a team player I do my part to make sure all that is expected of me is organized and completed on time. My only gripes are that it gets a little bit hot when charging, and the battery only lasts for an hour and a half; I can deal with heat and the battery can be easily upgraded. The only thing you have to worry about with refurbished products is the look, not performance; Mine came with a small scratch in the top of the case, but performs like a champ. As both the Service Packs are out now can some one tell me which one is better and why?. Actually i have a old Laptop Acer 4060 with Intel Centrino 1.7GHz, 1GB Ram and currently using windows xp sp2 and scare of the security holes init. I want to upgrade my OS with Windows XP SP3 or may be buy Windows Vista SP1. But, i still in a rush of which one should i select that could help in business productivity, faster in use and definately fast in surfing web. I don't have any special software that i think i need after the upgrade. So, the compability is not a issue for me.I tried the Windows Vista without Service pack on my system and found it liitle slow then XP SP2. As the new SP for windows vista is out now and i don't tried it yet and belief that may be M$ improved it's performace little bit. Do any one tried it practically?I also run the windows upgrade advisor and it meet all the hardware requirements except Aero for which i don't really care about. I am thinking about going forth with a sort of social networking idea. The idea stems from the fact that there is a lack of unity and rapport among the different departments in the company I work for. Since I just started a couple of weeks ago, I find myself not knowing who to contact for specific issues. I would ask my supervisor for an answer, but he would then tell me to talk to so and so and so forth. Just wanted to get some feedback to see if it could be a viable business. So the idea is this: a social networking-communication software suite that improves productivity and supports rapport among employees. The customer would be companies with at least 100 employees (or a point where there would be too many people to know) it would be completely branded for the customer, devoid ads, and would include a (hopefully) internal email replacement, IM, and profile pages. The laws are not clear as to the definition of employee privacy, which opens the doors to abuse by employers and general public. Even though useful software exists, some employers still prefer the traditional methods of surveillance. Methods such as eavesdropping on phone calls, recording are still being used in all types of business. Workplace surveillance can benefit the employer in many cases it can even have a benefit for the employee. Theft in the workplace is a common reason for workplace surveillance, which can often mean losses to the company, and thusly losses to the employer in terms of benefits such as security as well. Most of these negative aspects involve privacy, de-motivation, and stress. “Internet surveillance” is the active surveillance of user’s Internet activities. When users operate a computer on the Internet activities, a record of sites that were visited and the operations that were performed by the user can be generated by Internet surveillance software. Also known as spyware, this software is able to track the user’s activities and report this to the employers with various techniques. “Desktop surveillance” on the other hand, works by the employer’s computer intercepting a signal that given off by the employee’s computer. That is done through specific surveillance software that could be remotely or physically installed on the employee’s machine. *When people use a computer that belongs to their employers, the employer has a right to monitor what their employer do with the computer. The employer doesn’t want to risk being held responsible if an employee uses that come to mind are drug dealing, child porn, predator, stalker, So just to name a few. Video surveillance cameras for the company, they can monitor and make sure nobody is wasting the company time this can also enable a company to see where they can lose people, thus reducing their expenses, and improving the bottom line. A business can benefits from video surveillance in many ways. [1]CCTV acts as a deterrent from theft by both staff and external people. [2]CCTV provides evidence of crime regardless if committed by staff or people visiting, this can defend staff also. [3]Managers can measure operational efficiency and even perform market analysis.[4]CCTV can discover health &safety issues. It is clear that video surveillance not only benefits the company, but can also help staff by protecting company profits which eventually pay the staff. In some circles this is called LOSS PREVENTION. Most disadvantages of video surveillance in the work place relate to the issue of those who are worried about being under surveillance. This means staff & even management who may feel their civil liberties are under threat or do not want to be discovered doing something they shouldn’t. The uncomfortable feeling that someone is watching making you feel that you must be doing something is bad enough for some people. Even those at the top of the company are at risk of being recorded doing something they shouldn’t. The benefits seem to outweigh the disadvantages. In any cases, the company would only spend money on a surveillance system to the advantage of the company in order to save money, protected the business and everybody’s pay checks. Just my opinion, but I think any company that would treat its employees like criminals rather than valued assets gets what it deserves: higher costs, lower loyalty. The morale is likely to be lower since employees may now be worried about communication with other employees. They may worry that communication may look like chatting and will thus minimize useful communication. Adding to the problems, companies may hire somebody who appeared to be wasting time and was actually working. This could mean future lawsuits. Also, the company has to go through the expense of more equipment with no immediate payback, and hiring of more individuals or a company to monitor these screens. Lower morale of the monitoring has the potential to backfire by reducing productivity and increased turnover and retraining issue that this causes. Software: MS Office Sm Business and Mcafee Internet Security. The Task manager shows 100% CPU usage often and this is when I just want to toss it in a lake. I show an average of 48 running processes which are mostly consumed by mcafee (15 or More) I have already paid for the macafee so let's not go there. I usually show available memory but the CPU usage is at 100%. Why is that?I am getting a new Vista but This will be a hand me down to my Kid, I want to know why It show the processor locking up with plenty of available memory.
