Trading time ahead for electronic joint ventures

Local electronics firms say the move is inevitable considering that from next year, Vietnam will allow foreign-invested businesses to import products to sell locally.

Until now, only Vietnamese businesses have been authorized to distribute foreign products.

The opening up of the retail and distribution markets, coupled with lower import taxes, may make it more profitable for foreign-invested companies to import goods than to manufacture them locally.

The current taxes on most imported products range from 0 to 5 percent.

In the 1990s, import taxes were about 50 percent.

But not all choose to follow Sony Vietnams path.

Samsung Vinas Vice President Nguyen Van Dao said his company would invest in both manufacturing and trading.

Products with high local demand will still be produced locally, he said. more

Business Services Conference Questions asked

Voting Question: This project is due at school. I am confused on it. can any one help? I need a service and y?

While attending this class, you also work at DigiFast, a small company that creates and markets video games for educational and entertainment markets. DigiFast recently moved into River View Plaza, a four-story office building in Portland, Oregon. River View Plaza includes a lobby with a security desk and several suites on all four floors. DigiFast occupies a typical suite that includes offices for managers, full-sized cubicles for employee workstations, a conference room, and restrooms. There is a break room with a refrigerator and a microwave, but, unfortunately, the break room is on the first floor, and DigiFast is on the third floor. DigiFast is new and growing fast. The company needs more employees, but the operating budget will not allow for it presently. Meanwhile, the goal is to make the operations efficient while keeping the current employees happy. You think one way to achieve this goal is by attracting outside services to the building. The other businesses in the building are similar in size to DigiFast but focus on markets other than software: a dentist, a young lawyer, and an insurance company. The building also has several spaces not yet rented. At capacity, the building can accommodate approximately 1,300 people. The location of River View Plaza is ideal, and the size of the office is adequate. However, the owners of the building supply space but little else in the way of service. The entrepreneurial spirit in you views this as a golden opportunity to attract a new service for DigiFast and other companies in the building. Your task is to convince your colleagues, manager, the owner of DigiFast, and the building management company your service has great potential and would be useful for your company’s employees and others in the building. A committee of key individuals will make the decision to move forward . . . or not. The committee consists of the following: •Charlotte Alexander, the founder and owner of DigiFast. She has a master’s degree in computer engineering and has spent 20 years working in IT industries. Charlotte is interested in efficiency and company growth. •Mark Jackson, your manager: Mark was recently recruited from a major video marketing company. He has an MBA from a prestigious university and two years’ work experience. Mark cares about the bottom line—he favors creativity as long as profit does not suffer. •Stacie Matthews, computer programmer: Stacie is currently working on her undergraduate degree in computer programming. She has extensive experience in developing video games but wants to finish her education to advance in this industry. Stacie is practical and creative. •Dave Martinez, graphic designer: Dave is a self-taught graphic artist who has won numerous awards for his designs. He is imaginative and innovative. •Steve Taylor, facilities manager: Steve is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of the building, as well as renting available space to companies compatible with the businesses in the building. Although he is friendly and easygoing, Steve expects a job to be done right. Task Your task is to choose a service you think would be useful for DigiFast and most employees in the building. Remember: The goal of the service is to increase efficiency of operations and/or keep the current employees happy. As you think about the argument you will ultimately present to the committee, consider the different needs and personalities of the five committee members you have to persuade. All of the committee members have to agree on your service. You also need to anticipate any objections they might have as well as ways you can overcome those objections. more

Hi everybody and thank you for your help, I do not want you to do my homework, I just want you to give me an IDEA OF A TOPIC, not do my homework! =] thank you Scenario While attending this class, you also work at DigiFast, a small company that creates and markets video games for educational and entertainment markets. A committee of key individuals will make the decision to move forward . . . or not. The committee consists of the following: Charlotte Alexander, the founder and owner of DigiFast. She has a master’s degree in computer engineering and has spent 20 years working in IT industries. Charlotte is interested in efficiency and company growth. Mark Jackson, your manager: Mark was recently recruited from a major video marketing company. He has an MBA from a prestigious university and two years’ work experience. Mark cares about the bottom line—he favors creativity as long as profit does not suffer. Stacie Matthews, computer programmer: Stacie is currently working on her undergraduate degree in computer programming. She has extensive experience in developing video games but wants to finish her education to advance in this industry. Stacie is practical and creative. Dave Martinez, graphic designer: Dave is a self-taught graphic artist who has won numerous awards for his designs. He is imaginative and innovative. Steve Taylor, facilities manager: Steve is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of the building, as well as renting available space to companies compatible with the businesses in the building. You also need to anticipate any objections they might have as well as ways you can overcome those objections. more

Resolved Question: Ice Cap melting due to icebreaker ships to make way for traffic?

http://kn.theiet.org/magazine/issues/0921/breaking-the-ice-0921.cfm Ice breakers: "Ten nuclear-powered surface ships have been built in Russia, nine of which are icebreakers with the tenth a container ship with icebreaking capabilities. And although the specifications differ from one to another, those in the Arktika class - of which the Victory is the newest member - are fundamentally the same, becoming more efficient, powerful or faster as evolving technology allows for higher performance". Cananda: "Canada announced plans to build up to eight icebreakers and to establish a deep water port in its far north. Douglas Bancroft, director of the Canadian Ice Service, told a conference in Washington this month that Hudson Bay has seen a 50% decrease in ice since 1971" Icebreaker ships crashing through the ice to make way for sea traffic and rich tourists to the North Pole, must be affecting the ice in the North Pole! Global Warming or business as usual? Why doesnt the Copenhagen Conference on Global Warming address this and many other issues ?hmmmm...the real reason of the destruction of the ice cap.And all the Bob Ns think they are so witty and clever. Resolved Question: What is "global warming" really about?

New Socialism Planning Heist In Copenhagen By CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER Posted 12/10/2009 06:45 PM ET In the 1970s and early '80s, having seized control of the U.N. apparatus (by power of numbers), Third World countries decided to cash in. OPEC was pulling off the greatest wealth transfer from rich to poor in history. Why not them? So in grand U.N. declarations and conferences, they began calling for a "New International Economic Order." The NIEO's essential demand was simple: to transfer fantastic chunks of wealth from the industrialized West to the Third World. On what grounds? In the name of equality — wealth redistribution via global socialism — with a dose of post-colonial reparations thrown in. The idea of essentially taxing hard-working citizens of the democracies to fill the treasuries of Third World kleptocracies went nowhere, thanks mainly to Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher (and the debt crisis of the early '80s). They put a stake through the enterprise. But such dreams never die. The raid on the Western treasuries is on again, but today with a new rationale to fit current ideological fashion. With socialism dead, the gigantic heist is now proposed as a sacred service of the newest religion: environmentalism. One of the major goals of the Copenhagen climate summit is another NIEO shakedown: the transfer of hundreds of billions from the industrial West to the Third World to save the planet by, for example, planting green industries in the tristes tropiques. Politically it's an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man's guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt. But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen. It thrives on the national scale too. On the day Copenhagen opened, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency claimed jurisdiction over the regulation of carbon emissions by declaring them an "endangerment" to human health. Since we operate an overwhelmingly carbon-based economy, the EPA will be regulating practically everything. No institution that emits more than 250 tons of CO2 a year will fall outside EPA control. This means over a million building complexes, hospitals, plants, schools, businesses and similar enterprises. (The EPA proposes regulating emissions only above 25,000 tons, but it has no such authority.) Not since the creation of the Internal Revenue Service has a federal agency been given more intrusive power over every aspect of economic life. This naked assertion of vast executive power in the name of the environment is the perfect fulfillment of the prediction of Czech President (and economist) Vaclav Klaus that environmentalism is becoming the new socialism, i.e., the totemic ideal in the name of which government seizes the commanding heights of the economy and society. Socialism having failed so spectacularly, the left was adrift until it struck upon a brilliant gambit: metamorphosis from red to green. The cultural elites went straight from the memorial service for socialism to the altar of the environment. The objective is the same: highly centralized power given to the best and the brightest, the new class of experts, managers and technocrats. This time, however, the alleged justification is not abolishing oppression and inequality but saving the planet. Not everyone is pleased with the coming New Carbon-Free International Order. When the Obama administration signaled (in a gesture to Copenhagen) a U.S. commitment to major cuts in carbon emissions, Democratic Sen. Jim Webb wrote the president protesting that he lacks the authority to do so unilaterally. That requires congressional concurrence by legislation or treaty. With the Senate blocking President Obama's cap-and-trade carbon legislation, the EPA coup d'etat served as the administration's loud response to Webb: The hell we can't. With this EPA "endangerment" finding, we can do as we wish with carbon. Either the Senate passes cap-and-trade, or the EPA will impose even more draconian measures: all cap, no trade. Forget for a moment the economic effects of severe carbon chastity. There's the matter of constitutional decency. If you want to revolutionize society — as will drastic carbon regulation and taxation in an energy economy that is 85% carbon-based — you do it through Congress reflecting popular will. Not by administrative fiat of EPA bureaucrats. Congress should not just resist this executive overreaching, but trump it: Amend existing clean air laws and restore their original intent by excluding CO2 from EPA control and reserving that power for Congress and future legislation. Do it now. Do it soon. Because Big Brother isn't lurking in CIA cloak. He's knocking on your door, smiling under an EPA cap. more

Resolved Question: What are my chances to get into an ivy league school (I want my undergraduate major in biology)?

Here are a few quick stats. -2070 SAT -SAT II - Biology E/M - 800/730, Math IIC - 760 -Unweighted GPA for Junior and half of Senior year: 3.78 -Weighted GPA for Junior and half of Senior year: 4.5 (The difference is big because I took like 6 APs) Extracurriculars: - 9 years of violin and member of the state youth orchestra - Ultimate Frisbee (Fall and Spring) - 80 hours of volunteering at Township Red Cross Center - Certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). I have to do 24 hours of service in a live ambulance every 4 weeks. - Member of "Future Business Leaders of America" Club (or FBLA) - Nominated representative (of India) for GYLC - Global Youth Leadership Conference, but I didn't get to attend :( My Freshman and Sophomore years were completed with India. My final overall grades were 74% for Freshman year, and 83% for Sophomore year. (In India, a 75% is an A and a 40% is a passing grade. Its not that their expectations are low, but that the material is so god damn hard). My schooling from Pre-K to 8th grade was in America P.S. I wanted to know if an Independent Study Course looks attractive on a college app. During my junior year, I only took 5 classes (2 APs, 2 HNS, and 1 Regular) and 1 Independent Study. My teacher was a good teacher (she graduated from Princeton), and together we researched "The Psychology behind Love and Attraction". (By together I mean, I researched and explained it to her during our little meanings after school. I was wondering if this would look like an example of academic pursuit on my application. P.S.S. My essay is about my experiences in the ambulance as an EMT. Pretty epic incidents I got to witness :D more

Resolved Question: WTF SONY WTF SONY WTF SONY? PAY TO PLAY ONLINE PS3!!!! WHY!?

Like many PS3 owners I suffered a moment of major panic late last week when Sony confirmed at an investor conference they are planning to launch a paid subscription model for the PS3s online services in 2010. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/technology/news/article.cfm?c_id=5&objectid=10611339 Such a move would bring see Sony operating a two-tiered online services business model for the PS3 that would most likely operate along similar lines to Microsoft's Xbox Live. Xbox Live offers a premium Gold subscription and free Silver membership which only gives access to basic services. Sony was quick to reassure panicked PS3 owners that they would not have to pay to play, with Sony Computer Entertainment CEO, Kaz Hirai issuing a statement stating that the present level of free online services available in the PS3 would remain. Details around subscription based offerings will be announced in 2010. Sony has already confirmed that premium services will include peripherals, software and some online services. WOW. why. your disappinting ALOT of people, sure the reg service is still here but now your singling out others. much like silver/gold why sony now your online is not as good as live IMO, free was one advantage over LIVE WTF. more

Resolved Question: OH MY GOD !! Did any one read Palins book. (to many lie to write about)?

here's a few THE FACT IS................. PALIN: Says she made frugality a point when traveling on state business as Alaska governor, asking "only" for reasonably priced rooms and not "often" going for the "high-end, robe-and-slippers" hotels. THE FACTS: Although travel records indicate she usually opted for less-pricey hotels while governor, Palin and daughter Bristol stayed five days and four nights at the $707.29-per-night Essex House luxury hotel (robes and slippers come standard) overlooking New York City's Central Park for a five-hour women's leadership conference in October 2007. With air fare, the cost to Alaska was well over $3,000. Event organizers said Palin asked if she could bring her daughter. The governor billed her state more than $20,000 for her children's travel, including to events where they had not been invited, and in some cases later amended expense reports to specify that they had been on official business. ___ PALIN: Boasts that she ran her campaign for governor on small donations, mostly from first-time givers, and turned back large checks from big donors if her campaign perceived a conflict of interest. THE FACTS: Of the roughly $1.3 million she raised for her primary and general election campaigns for governor, more than half came from people and political action committees giving at least $500, according to an AP analysis of her campaign finance reports. The maximum that individual donors could give was $1,000; $2,000 for a PAC. Of the rest, about $76,000 came from Republican Party committees. She accepted $1,000 each from a state senator and his wife in the weeks after the two Republican lawmakers' offices were raided by the FBI as part of an investigation into a powerful Alaska oilfield services company. After AP reported those donations during the presidential campaign, she said she would give a comparative sum to charity after the general election in 2010, a date set by state election laws. ___ PALIN: Rails against taxpayer-financed bailouts, which she attributes to Obama. She recounts telling daughter Bristol that to succeed in business, "you'll have to be brave enough to fail." THE FACTS: Palin is blurring the lines between Obama's stimulus plan — a $787 billion package of tax cuts, state aid, social programs and government contracts — and the federal bailout that Republican presidential candidate John McCain voted for and President George W. Bush signed. Palin's views on bailouts appeared to evolve as McCain's vice presidential running mate. In September 2008, she said "taxpayers cannot be looked to as the bailout, as the solution, to the problems on Wall Street." A week later, she said "ultimately what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy." During the vice presidential debate in October, Palin praised McCain for being "instrumental in bringing folks together" to pass the $700 billion bailout. After that, she said "it is a time of crisis and government did have to step in." This is just a few whoppers she wrote about in her book more

Resolved Question: Is this what The Right wing wants for a leader?

After that, she said "it is a time of crisis and government did have to step in." ___ PALIN: Says Ronald Reagan faced an even worse recession than the one that appears to be ending now, and "showed us how to get out of one. If you want real job growth, cut capital gains taxes and slay the death tax once and for all." THE FACTS: The estate tax, which some call the death tax, was not repealed under Reagan and capital gains taxes are lower now than when Reagan was president. Economists overwhelmingly say the current recession is far worse. The recession Reagan faced lasted for 16 months; this one is in its 23rd month. The recession of the early 1980s did not have a financial meltdown. Unemployment peaked at 10.8 percent, worse than the October 2009 high of 10.2 percent, but the jobless rate is still expected to climb. ___ PALIN: She says her team overseeing the development of a natural gas pipeline set up an open, competitive bidding process that allowed any company to compete for the right to build a 1,715-mile pipeline to bring natural gas from Alaska to the Lower 48. THE FACTS: Palin characterized the pipeline deal the same way before an AP investigation found her team crafted terms that favored only a few independent pipeline companies and ultimately benefited a company with ties to her administration, TransCanada Corp. Despite promises and legal guidance not to talk directly with potential bidders during the process, Palin had meetings or phone calls with nearly every major candidate, including TransCanada. ___ PALIN: Criticizes an aide to her predecessor, Gov. Frank Murkowski, for a conflict of interest because the aide represented the state in negotiations over a gas pipeline and then left to work as more

Resolved Question: What do you think of Sarah Palin lying repeatedly in her new book?

I have not read the book yet, however AP did some fact checking : PALIN: Says she made frugality a point when traveling on state business as Alaska governor, asking "only" for reasonably priced rooms and not "often" going for the "high-end, robe-and-slippers" hotels. Resolved Question: Why are American taxpayers being forced to support Latino separatist group?

In 2006 and again in 2008, the Latino group known as La Raza (The Race) was given $15 million in U.S. federal grants. La Raza also received an additional $4 million in so-called 'earmarks' tucked into the 2005 Housing Bill, which our Congress passed and President Bush signed. Considering the ethnocentric agenda of La Raza, in giving federal funds to this group, the American taxpayer is being forced to support a race-based separatist organization. La Raza openly supports pushing all but Latino Americans out of a portion of the United States (i.e. ethnic cleansing), they call for 'Reconquista' or the re-conquest of the American Southwest by Mexico, and the establishment of 'Atzlan' which is the utopian all-Latino version of the American Southwestern states. La Raza’s motto is “For the Race, everything, outside the Race…Nothing!” Past keynote speakers at the annual National Council of La Raza Conference have included George Bush, Karl Rove, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Bill Clinton, John McCain, and Barack Obama. The fact that U.S. Senators and Presidents have addressed the group, is a strong indication that this nation is being subverted at the very highest levels. If La Raza was a white supremacist group with equally deep pockets, the U.S. government would place them on a terrorist watch list, infiltrate them with undercover FBI agents, and subject them to constant harassment by the IRS. Eventually, the group's leaders would be jailed and the group itself would be rendered irrelevant. However, because La Raza is a Latino supremacist group, Congress offers them financial support. One of La Raza's biggest supporters is Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). In 2001, Reid asked the Senate Appropriations Committee for $5 million to help further their goals. That same year, La Raza gave Sen. Reid their Capital Award for "his commitment to advance legislation priorities of the Latino community." Reid in turn praised La Raza by saying: "La Raza is like the biblical David, fighting all these Goliaths." Taxpayer funds are also funneled to La Raza through the Department of Health and Human Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, and even NASA. Tax dollars are hidden in these government agencies, earmarked to be specifically given away to La Raza. Inside the halls of Congress, the practice is known as discretionary funding...In the real world it is known as money laundering. In 2008, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) earmarked an additional $20 million for La Raza. He hid the appropriation in the FHA Housing Stabilization and Homeowners Retentions Act of 2008. In 2005, $7.9 million was stolen from the American taxpayers and given out to Latino-only charter schools in the form of U.S. Department of Education grants. La Raza operates 100 such schools across the country. The following is a list of a few of those schools: -La Academia Semillas del Pueblo (Los Angeles) -Atzlan Academy (Tucson, AZ) -Mexicayotl Academy (Nogales, AZ) -The Dolores Huerta Prepatory High School (Pueblo, CO) -Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School (St. Paul, MN) These schools teach Latino culture only, the Spanish language, the re-conquest of the American Southwest, ethnic cleansing and the establishment of the mythical Atzlan, and even Aztec math...Again, all taught on your dime! According to the Capital Research Center, La Raza has assets well in excess of $50 million. This same group reports that La Raza spends about $1 million annually on lobbying and fundraising. Can you imagine the Congress appropriating money to the Ku Klux Klan? While those scenarios both sound absurd, the support that our elected officials are giving to the racist group known as La Raza is no different. One has to wonder, if the KKK offered extremely cheap labor to unscrupulous American businesses and potential votes to equally unscrupulous politicians...Would Congress fund whites-only charter schools? http://www.examiner.com/x-21818-Virginia-Beach-Conservative-Examiner~y2009m10d13-American-taxpayers-being-forced-to-support-Latino-separatist-group more

Resolved Question: Why would supporters of illegls be totally against illegal aliens linked to serious crimes to being deported?

MORRISTOWN -- As Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello is close to signing off on a federal program that would deputize police officers to work as immigration agents, a statewide organization and immigrant advocacy groups gathered today to urge the mayor against it. The program, which would give police authority to initiate deportation proceedings against illegal aliens linked to serious crimes, was denounced during a press conference held by the New Jersey Immigration Policy Network at the Morristown municipal building. A second is being held at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office in Freehold this afternoon. "We don’t want a penny of taxpayers' money to be spent on a program that is disgraced," said Shai Goldstein, executive of the faith- and community-based coalition. The group, which comprises business, professional, labor and civil rights organization promoting immigration reform, last week sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, calling for the elimination of 287(g). Monmouth County and Morristown, along with the Hudson County Department of Corrections, are among 79 departments nationwide that have been accepted into the program, known as 287(g), which was overhauled to allay fears it would be used to target or harass immigrant groups. Civil rights leaders today said the program would invoke racial profiling. "We need fair and humane immigration policies," said Amy Gottlieb, director the Newark-based American Friends Service Committee, an immigrant rights program. Other groups participating today, including the Latino Alliance of New Jersey, Morris County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Catholic Conference, Morristown-based Wind of the Spirit immigration resource center, American Civil Liberties Union, American Jewish Committee, said the program would frighten immigrants from cooperating with police and harm relations with Hispanics. "The mayor has come up with a plan to persecute the Hispanics and Latinos in the community," Rev. Osvaldo Jimenez, of the First Baptist Church of Morristown, said today. But Cresitello said crimes committed by illegal aliens must stop, citing the case of Porfirio Jimenez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras sentenced in February to life in prison for the murder of 10-year-old Walter Contreras Valenzuela on May 20, 2001. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/10/nj_groups_urge_morristown_mayo.html more

Resolved Question: I find this frightening. Do you?

National Endowment for the Arts is Trying to Create a Cult of Obama By Matthew Vadum on 9.1.09 @ 6:48PM Yes, we can! With tax dollars! * * * * * Patrick Courrielche reveals at Big Hollywood that he participated in a teleconference call in which the National Endowment for the Arts --the largest funder of the arts in the U.S.-- encouraged artists to create pro-Obama art: I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to take part in a conference call that invited a group of rising artist and art community luminaries “to help lay a new foundation for growth, focusing on core areas of the recovery agenda - health care, energy and environment, safety and security, education, community renewal.” Now admittedly, I’m a skeptic of BIG government. In my view, power tends to overreach whenever given the opportunity. It’s a law of human nature that has very few exceptions. That said, it felt to me that by providing issues as a cynosure for inspiration to a handpicked arts group - a group that played a key role in the President’s election as mentioned throughout the conference call - the National Endowment for the Arts was steering the art community toward creating art on the very issues that are currently under contentious national debate; those being health care reform and cap-and-trade legislation. Could the National Endowment for the Arts be looking to the art community to create an environment amenable to the administration’s positions? [...] Courrielche writes that Backed by the full weight of President Barack Obama’s call to service and the institutional weight of the NEA, the conference call was billed as an opportunity for those in the art community to inspire service in four key categories, and at the top of the list were “health care” and “energy and environment.” The service was to be attached to the President’s United We Serve campaign, a nationwide federal initiative to make service a way of life for all Americans. It sounded, how should I phrase it…unusual, that the NEA would invite the art community to a meeting to discuss issues currently under vehement national debate. I decided to call in, and what I heard concerned me. The people running the conference call and rallying the group to get active on these issues were Yosi Sergant, the Director of Communications for the National Endowment for the Arts; Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement; Nell Abernathy, Director of Outreach for United We Serve; Thomas Bates, Vice President of Civic Engagement for Rock the Vote; and Michael Skolnik, Political Director for Russell Simmons. We were encouraged to bring the same sense of enthusiasm to these “focus areas” as we had brought to Obama’s presidential campaign, and we were encouraged to create art and art initiatives that brought awareness to these issues. Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to “shape the lives” of those around us. The now famous Obama “Hope” poster, created by artist Shepard Fairey and promoted by many of those on the phone call, and will.i.am’s “Yes We Can” song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election. [...] This is scary stuff. To paraphrase Courrielche from his appearance on the "Glenn Beck Program" today, whenever governments and artists collaborate on art, the results are never good. Here is some Soviet taxpayer-funded art: Here is some German taxpayer-funded art: Courrielche discussed the issue a few days ago on Fox Business: http://spectator.org/blog/2009/09/01/national-endowment-for-the-art more

Resolved Question: No changes to Medicare didn't I hear? Did you see this nuts and bolts discussion of some of the changes?

http://timesbulletin.com/main.asp?SectionID=2&SubSectionID=4&ArticleID=153833&TM=18284.05 "Brent Tow, President/CEO of Community Health Professionals, attended a conference last week for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and he said paying for a health insurance reform plan the way the U.S. House of Representatives has put forward in their bill would dramatically change how Medicare works. The NAHC reported at the conference that the proposed health care reform bill as currently constituted would expand health coverage to include all Americans at a cost of $1.2 trillion over a ten-year period. Almost half of that plan would be paid for with Medicare cuts. Some of those dollars would come from a freeze on market inflation, a payment adjustment cut for case-mix set at 5.46 percent and all Medicare providers - including home health agencies and hospices - would face what is being called a "productivity adjustment" consisting of a 1 percent reduction in payments every year moving forward. Perhaps most importantly, the home health care payment rates would be re-based in 2011, reassessing the amount of money earned by agencies for every service and the length of time associated with the procedures. Recent history shows this type of change has caused significant problems. Tow pointed out this would be the first time for that type of change since 1997 when the pay per visit moved to a care established payment system. The current type of payment system says that Medicare will pay a set amount of dollars for a certain type of care for a set time period, usually 60 days. At the time the system changed, approximately 4,000 out of 10,000 home care agencies nationwide went out of business because they could not adjust to the different way the service revenue was accrued. "We are saying that if we are going to have these kinds of cuts (to the system), then please phase them in over a period of time, say ten years, rather than have it all come in at once," Tow said. NAHC is afraid that a large number of home health care providers will not be able to adjust again and go out of business at the same time that the largest segment of Baby Boomers is preparing to enter the system and cause what could be termed a demographic meltdown. Even though all segments of health care are being cut - whether that be doctors, nurses, hospitals or nursing homes - the NAHC is afraid the House is cutting home health services disproportionately. The plan calls for a cut of $56.8 billion out of a total $318 billion, a little more than 17 percent, in federal money to the home care services industry. That does not make sense to advocates of the system because of one basic issue: Price. "It is cheaper to take care of people in home care as opposed to an acute care setting," Tow said. "We are offering something that is a cheaper alternative. That is what's so frustrating on this end when you realize the benefits of being able to take care of somebody in their home rather than an acute care setting, it's a lot of savings plus people prefer to be taken care of at home if they are able."Why is the President telling us there will be no changes when local health care agencies are seeing significant changes? more

Resolved Question: I need help with my insecurities because its ruining my marriage and my personal life? Help?

My Wife and I seem to be so different from one another, I always thought we had so much in common and shared so many similarities in things. We have been living with each other for about a year and things are not as good as I thought they were. I feel like there are so many little things going on in this relationship that ends up adding up to something big and it is amazing how my wife could just do certain things without a care in the world. It seems like my wife feels she is still living the single life and not the married life, there is so much she dont tell me, she doesn't talk as much to me as she used to, and I tend to find out things that she is doing or involved in after the fact. I have been home alone since Saturday because she went on a "retreat" to the Hamptons with her mothers organization. A women that sites on the Board for the Organization has a 20 bedroom mansion and that is where they have been for the last few days. She says they have been having meetings, conference calls, group talks about what new things to do with the organization, etc. but in between all of this she is chillen outside in the sun, swimming in a 60 foot in ground pool and having BBQ the whole time there. There is only women there, this is what she tells me, and if I would of went I would of been the only male. The whole time she is there I might of got about 5-6 calls since Saturday, they last for 2 minutes or so and its either when she gets up in the morning, around dinner time and before she goes to bed. The funny thing is she only calls me from the room she is staying in, not when she is outside or anywhere else in the house. So when I mention that to her she talks about not having service in other places of the house. Fine, that part is understandable but what about when your outside chillen in the sun or swimming? and she doesn't say anything. Now this is the first time since we have been together that she has went away for a few days, and it hasnt sit right with me from the beginning. I feel like a nobody right now, she leaves and its like forget about me while your there and have your small mini vacation ( thats what I call it, i dont think she is there for business, not to mention that she doesn't even work for her mothers organization, so it makes no sense why she is there, but when I tell her this it makes sense to her) We canceled our vacation two weeks ago because she lost her job the week before that, so to play it safe we kept that money in the bank and we put our vacation off to another time. So since she has been out of work she hasn't even tried looking for job at all, but she was fast to go away for 4 days on a small mini vacation is what I call it. I mean I am her husband, we are married and its like I am lucky if she sends me a text once or twice in a day, and then one or two calls through out the whole day, when she was at work she would call me more than that or even text me more than that. It just seems like she is being very selfish and it is really hurting me inside, my feelings and emotions are all screwed up. My feelings, my pains, my emotions seem to not mean anything to her at this time. When she does call me i get very anxious, nervous and upset. We will be married for a year next month (September 09) and I know her for 4 yrs and she has never been away like this since the day I met her, now that we are living with each other its not an easy thing for me. To her I am making a big deal out of nothing, because all the other women there are having no issues with there husbands, so she assumes. Maybe its easier for there wives to go away to the hamptons for a so called "retreat" at a 20 bedroom mansion because they have been married for a long time, so they probably look forward to them going away so they could have some time alone. Well I dont look forward to her going away, is this wrong of me? Am I making an issue out of nothing? I think I am really going crazy, i lose control when she tells me "I dont want to talk right now, i will ttyl" when I just got on the phone with her and its the first time we are talking all day long. Its a business "retreat" but yet she takes her bathing suit with her so she can go swimming over there, i wish I can explain what I am feeling because I am literally go crazy because she just brushes it off like nothing and gets mad for me not being so easy about what she is doing. Especially when she didnt even want to talk about what she was doing before she went out there, she didnt even ask what was going to go on the whole time she would be there so when I asked her she didn't have an answer for me, and that pissed me off. Why would someone get involved in something that they dont know nothing about and then tell me its all about the organization her mom runs? Why not tell me that you are going to relax for a few days, swim and bake in the sun? be damn honest with me. Can somebody help me please, I am 27 yrs old, in my first year of marriage more

Resolved Question: Oppose Nationalizing Healthcare and your sick of Congress not hearing us then join us to send the message okay?

IF congress won't listen and insist on bring the Healthcare bill to a vote in the House or the Senate then we will send our message to them by calling in sick. THE GREAT AMERICAN SICKOUT. On the first business day before a floor vote on Healthcare either Senate or House which ever comes first we the American people will send congress a message by calling in sick to work and refuse to buy anything for the day. 1) Call in Sick if you are not in emergency services or other vital service - you still can participate see below 2) If you own a business close for the day 3) DO NOT buy anything on that day. Go to the store the day before or the day after. DO NOT buy online, DO NOT buy or sell anything that day. 4) Stay Home, have a BBQ with friends, go to a free park or any other activity that is FREE. If the congress continues to be deaf to the overwhelming outcry to NO National Healthcare plan then they will get to hear the deafening sound of silence. Not a taxi to catch, nor the roar of construction work. Empty stores, closed stores, business of all kind across the country closed will make the point that we are the people and they work for us and we won't work for them if they insist on saddling us with more debt, rationed care, and neglected dying elderly given a pain pill instead of an operation to save money. So go forth copy this message in whole and post it in message boards no matter the subject, post questions on yahoo and post it in the answers too. Email it too every email address you can and send this plan viral through the internet and set in motion the Great American Sick out. If they don't listen the first time and pass a bill in the House or Senate, then when it comes up for a floor vote in the other part of congress House or Senate then we will have another Great American Sick out the First Business Day before the floor vote and if they still pass the bill then we will have another Great American Sick Out day after day while the House and Senate have their conference to get a unified bill. It can still be killed in either house after the conference committee sends out the unified bill. more

Resolved Question: Is it unconstitutional for the Hilton to throw a conference as follows?

After all, they do want to create Sharia law and end the Constitution. I understand the 1st amendment, but businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime. http://www.investigativeproject.org/1100/hizb-ut-tahrir-shariah-takes-precedence-over-usI don't think you people understand the question. Hilton had the right to not give them the conference in the first place. Please learn how to comprehend an easy question. more

Resolved Question: Who says the press is not on Obama's side?

WASHINGTON – The Washington Post's publisher apologized to readers Sunday for a plan to charge business leaders and lobbyists for intimate dinner discussions with government officials and the newspaper's journalists This is amazing to me. I thought the press was supposed to be the monitors of the government, not being a prostitute to get lobbyist and Obama admin people together. Since when are they willing to sell their services to the highest bidder? And someone sent this out without approval. Resolved Question: Ivy league admission chances?

I'm going into my sophmore year so I won't have a lot of information to work with but I am looking for suggestions and comments :) I'm mostly interested in Yale, UPenn, or Brown. Maybe Cornell..? Also Northwestern, Loyola, Notre Dame My Freshman Year I took: Honors English, Honors Geometry, Honors Spanish III, AP WOrld History, Honors Biology. I got straight A's both semesters, with 2 A+ first semester, and five second semester although one of them was for gym. My GPA is some random decimal above 5.0 I'm involved in my schools debate team, and my partner and I won conference. I also did the freshman soccer B team (not very good) but I don't plan on trying out next year. I have 24 hours of community service so far and just joined a program with the local hospital that will get me 3 hours a week for the next 3 years. I'm just beggining a little project also... I will be selling lemonade in my community and donating it to Room to Read which will provide scholarships for girls in foreign countries; sometime I would also like to go and visit one of these schools. I'm starting out just at parks, but in the future I hope to ask local businesses if I can sell in front of them or at my local pool. I'm interested in particiating in a volunteer abroad program one(or more) summer(s). Next year I plan on joining Student Government and Track (or badminton if i make the team but most likely I wont). I will also be trying out for an after school choir group which I tried out for freshman year, made final cuts and then did not make the final group, although no freshman were accepted. I am also applying to be a junior leader for gym and to be in first class which is a leadership group at my school. I plan to join Mu Alpha Theta Junior Year. Also (obviously) NHS. Currently I am first in my class, although I'm not sure if I'm tied with anyone. Next year I am taking Honors English, Honors Chemistry, AP Microeconomics, AP gov., Honors Spanish IV, Honors Pre Calculus BC Any suggestions as to what I can do to improve? more

In 2001 London, as a volunteer for short term Christianity summer mission I could have experiences, door to door, book table in the street, giving flyers. Resolved Question: What's the target market for an air charter business?

Are most of the people who use jet charter services big, rich company CEOs that go to conferences, or famous celebrities going to concerts, or sports teams traveling to games? I was looking into the air charter business but I can't exactly identify what type of people are targeted. Also, would it be reasonable for a "normal" person (in my opinion, one that makes less than 6 figures) to charter a jet? more
