Study shows Big Four losing business to competitors
Recent promises of lower rates have not materialized and companies are taking their business to smaller accounting firms, according to a new study on external audit fees by the Finance Leadership Exchange, a Corporate Executive Board program for chief financial officers at mid-size companies.
The study, which surveyed 100 CFOs, showed that many mid-size companies are leaving the "Big Four" -- PricewaterhouseCoopers; Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu; Ernst & Young; and KPMG, -- for smaller accounting firm.
"In addition to economical factors, we talk with many CFOs who are moving to smaller, regional audit firms for improved service," said Cameron Doolittle, senior director of the Finance Leadership Exchange.
CFOs provided data on their hourly blended rates, total integrated external audit fees, number of key controls and the name of their external auditor. more
ClearPoint bought by Alliant Insurance Puget Sound Business
Seattle-based ClearPoint's 2006 premium volume for Puget Sound offices was $354 million, according to Puget Sound Business Journal research. The brokerage also has an office in Portland, Maine.
ClearPoint's 2007 revenues are expected to be around $19 million, according to Newport Beach, Calif.-based Alliant.

He does not mind having the wild-card attached to his name because it brings no pressure.
"It's fun, it really is.
"When I was on tour I used to hope for easy heats. But coming here this time I knew I was going to get the hardest heats, which is good because you are ready for it. more
