BP approves Willets plan

Businesses turns to arts community to beef up bazaar

According to Beth Morris, the Chamber's economic development manager, more than 40 Main Street shops and businesses will participate this year. Also represented at the bazaar will be 35 nonprofit organizations, 25 craftsmen, and more than 40 Cape Ann artists and artisans.

The 10-foot puppet, for instance, Coffin said, would not have happened without the generous support of Kate Seidman, owner of The Art Room on Center Street in Gloucester, who with seARTS donated the materials to build the puppet.

"I'm hoping people will really join in and have a conga line and fun and then go back to their shopping," said Coffin, who will be driving the puppet from inside.

In keeping with the theme of local paintings and crafts, all the live music during the festival will be provided by local musicians. more

575m euros available for companies that create over 500 jobs

The companies that invest more than 100 million euros and thus create at least 500 jobs will get state aid worth up to 25 million euros, with the total value of funds allocated for 2008-2012 standing at 575 million euros. State aid will be granted only if the investment continues in the region where it was created for at least five years after the completion of the project, ministry sources said, who cited the draft to be submitted to the government soon. Sources say the eligible investments will be those that create at least 500 jobs and exceed the RON equivalent . more
