Business Dsl Service Questions asked

Open Question: FED UP with Comcast and there crappy service and Internet. Who has the best DSL Service and Satel?

Basically, I have been a Comcast Customer for 4 years now unfortunatly. I have finally met my limit with them. I have there triple play package, and alot of extras, $200 bill a month(supposed to be). As you can see over time I have given them alot of money and all I ask in return is Reliable service. I havent got it from day 1, but lately its been REALLY BAD. I run a home based business where I need internet and phone 24/7. My phone calls will drop, I will randomly hear buttons being pressed(while not pressing any), my internet drops more then DIAL UP and I cant even go watch the crappiest video quality on the internet, because my "high speed" is so slow and laggy. And, they tried to raise my bill $40 a month. Im done, I am cancelling my service tomorrow. Im leaning toward getting DirecTV. DirecTV will give me my same service( Phone, TV, Internet) for $100 a month. Thats 250 channels, 70 HD Channels, Unlimited Phone, and AT&T Internet. Thats a steal. Granted it will end up going up, but still that is a pretty good deal. I believe only AT&T is being offered in my area. So questions...how is AT&T Internet and how is DirecTV service? I dont want to leave what I have now for worse Internet and Worse Service. Im a huge sports fan and i hear DirecTV is top notch for that. Can you get as many HD channels as you want with DirecTV? Like say I select there cheaper packagee with only 150 regular channels, can I still get the 60 HD channels, etc? And how is ATT Internet speeds, etc? Im probably going to get middle class 4mbps because even tho Comcast says its 20mbps its nowhere near that atleast there download speeds arent there a joke. Please let me know what Im getting into by switching. more

Resolved Question: What governing body above Verizon DSL can I complain to?

Is there any governing body I can write to in order to file an official complaint with Verizon DSL. I ask because it seems that Verizon DSL has terrible internet and customer service. It took one month before they could actually give me functional internet. I have my business and my first month of internet service consisted of dropped internet connection while in online web meetings with potential clients. The internet was shutting down many times per day stopping me from working because I depend heavily on the internet. Please let me know if there is anyone beyond Verizon I can send my following complaint below to. If you have any other advice, please feel free to let me know.Thanks. My complaint (you don't have to read it all but it's horrible): I recently moved in January from Costa Mesa, CA to West Covina, CA. I had to change my DSL provider from AT&T to Verizon. I was told by an automated voicemail message that my DSL would be activated on Tuesday January 12, 2010. So I was looking forward to have internet as I have my own business (Drakenology Inc.) that does web page development work and heavily depends on using the internet to send customers email and to talk to my customers over the web cam in meetings. So on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, I hooked up my DSL. And I have done this plenty of times as I was an AT&T DSL customer for 4 and half years. So the internet did not work even though Verizon said my DSL was not activated. So I just decided to wait until the next day. So I waited until the next day Wednesday, January 13, 2010 until 2pm. I restarted my modem and my computer and made sure the modem was on and it was directly connected to the phone line. It still did not work. So I called tech support. They did everything in their power to fix it as I was on the phone getting direction from them for more than three hours. After three hours they decided to actually bring a tech service man to come to my house to fix my DSL internet. They scheduled the appointment for the tech service man to come to my house on Monday, January 18, 2010. First of all I was unhappy that my internet did not work as I had to do work for my home business. And secondly I was unhappy that I had to wait 6 days for someone to come fix my DSL internet. I was losing 6 days of productivity in my business. This was ridiculous. So after six days of no internet the tech service man finally shows up on Monday morning around 9am on January 18, 2010. He turned on my computer and saw that the internet was not working. He then told me the action tek modem I had was not compatible with Verizon DSL. I told him I used the same modem for AT&T DSL and it worked fine. I then later told him the modem was a year old and I bought this modem myself and it was not an approved AT&T modem. He just kept on telling me I needed a new modem. He recommended two modems to me which was the westtell and another type of action tek. So I went to best buy and bought the action tek. After a couple hours of troubleshooting it did not work. And then I was getting even more upset since this Verizon DSL Tech told me to buy this modem. He told me it would work and it did not. So I was wasting my time and my money on a non functional modem he had told me to get. So I went out on my own and bought another modem. I bought a modem that the tech service man did not recommend. So I set up my internet and the generic modem (model name zoom ADSL X6) started to work properly and now my internet was working. I then called Verizon to voice my unhappiness and told them that I did not want to get billed for internet starting on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 because I did not have functional DSL internet until Tuesday, January 19, 2010. This was one week late! This cost me time and money for my business. So the supervisor was nice and said a few things to me: She said that the tech service man did not follow standard procedure in diagnosing my problem. The tech service man should have brought a modem with him to check the internet problem. Then she gave me a 25 dollar credit to my account. But I was really angered when she told me that your own Verizon tech person did not follow standard Verizon procedure and bring a modem with him to check my internet properly. He just looked at my modem and told me to buy an approved modem which ended up not working. He could have saved me time and money if he brought his approved modem to really check out my internet the right way. I had to go out of my way and get a modem he approved that didn’t even work. So I started using my DSL internet with the generic modem of my choice (model name zoom ADSL X6) and it worked, but I came to realize that the internet speed was so very slow. I went online to run a speed test. I remember that my previous service provider of AT&T was many times faster. So after a couple weeks I finally decided to call Verizon. It took me so long time because I was wishing that the problem would resolve itse more

Resolved Question: What is business-grade "line" concerning High-speed internet?

PLEASE READ THIS PART: I work at home as a medical transcriptionist. The client wants me to get a business-grade line because he thinks the speed and security are better. I don't know if that means DSL only. Or if Cable can also provide a "business-grade line". I have never had to use this with other clients. Is this a service I have to pay extra for? ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? I only have cable. Do I have to switch to DSL? Thank you for any help you may have. more

Resolved Question: Why do online video players continually freeze up and/or slow progressively as I watch?

Netflix videos always start out great, but every 5-20 minutes it will stop and re-buffer saying that my internet connection has slowed and that it's adjusting my connection to prevent further delays. The online player on Fox's website is supposed to self-adjust, but it doesn't, it just sticks every few seconds for a few seconds and then plays a bit, unless I pause it & let the buffer fill up, then play it til it's empty and repeat. Hulu.com has the same story as fox. Fox's FAQ states * Processor: AMD or Intel Single Core or greater * Operating System: Windows XP (Home, Media Center and Professional with Service Packs and all Microsoft Updates), Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Ultimate or Enterprise editions) * RAM: 256 MB minimum (512 MB recommended) * Video Card: 32 MB minimum (128 MB recommended) * Browser: Internet Explorer (version 6 and 7) or Mozilla Firefox (version 2.0 and 3.0). * Screen Resolution: 800 x 600 minimum (1280 x 1024 recommended) * Internet Connection: Broadband/High Speed (DSL, Cable, T1, etc.). Dial-up connections are not supported. Hulu states * Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22 or above * Internet Explorer 6.0 or above, Firefox 2.0 or above, or Safari 3.0 or above * Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later, Macintosh OS X 10.4 or above, or Linux * JavaScript and Cookies must also be enabled In addition, you will need an internet connection with sufficient bandwidth. Our videos stream at 480Kbps or 700Kbps, and we'll adjust our stream based on your bandwidth, but we recommend a downstream bandwidth of 1,000Kbps or higher for the smoothest playback experience. I have windows XP SP3 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.80 GHz 512 MB of Ram Video card 64 mb Firefox 3.5.7 Screen resolution 1280x1024 speedtest.net says my download speed is 1.42 Mb/s and upload 5.45 Mb/s the speed test link on my ISP's website says 7847 kbps download and 12917 kbps upload YES I know it's bizarre that my upload is way bigger than my download but it's been this way for a long time, I didn't switch them. So, My question is, does anybody know how I can smooth out my video playing?http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html says that my flash player is the most current version more

Resolved Question: Will my @sbcglobal.net email account still work if I turn off my internet service w/ ATT and go w/ cable?

Resolved Question: Why is a T1 internet connection so great?

I was wondering, I always hear about how a T1 internet connections are so great. The maximum bandwidth of a T1 connection is 1.544 Mb/s, but my home DSL connection is 3 (ish) Mb/s. Comparing the prices of T1 and DSL internet service, DSL is much cheaper. So if DSL is way faster and cheaper, why do people always say T1 service is so great? Why don't business's use DSL instead of T1? more

Resolved Question: T1 Line information needed and wireless line sharing.?

My county only has Dial-up or Satellite (some wireless) - unless you live in town. What information can you help me with about T1 lines? Upon doing a little research on it, I understand, anyone can get a T1 line and yes it's quite expensive. However, I learned yesterday I can rent off parts of it to wireless individuals - which would help me pay for my own service. I could not learn the reliability for the wireless or the distance factor - so that wireless PC's owners can pick up on my T1 line. I don’t want to deal with major Internet Brokers either. I know there are small companies out there and I am willing to pay up to $300.00 a month. Most are offering from $450 – $575 a month. I need to find some of the smaller companies here in the State of Ohio. Carroll County actually. My question is: How close do people have to live to pick up on the T1? What equipment is needed? One individual said special routers...another individual said a small tower. Still another said neither of these. I really want to learn this and it's very "hush hush" on the Internet and elsewhere. What absolutely kills me is that it is available to all people...but they charge so so much. ($300.00 - $1500.00 a month). Yet they offer DSL, Cable, Satellite and Dial-up. Why not T1? All businesses should be able to get T1 at least...and at a decent price or any of the other many many options of high speed. (FIOS, T3 and DS3 to name a few although costly.) Most folks don't even know it's available let alone they all can share a line - legally. I will say, I personally talked to several T1 "brokers" yesterday. They all agreed that parts of the T1 can be rented out for wireless PC's legally. I found that very interesting but what amazed me is ...none of them knew how it can be done. Hmmmm... (ssshhh ssshhh must not tell.) 8-) I need any information. I am determined to help around here. This County I live in just is not getting information out to the people. I have also been going to local town's meetings along with a Government group to get broadband into the county. Sadly, the Ohio State organization working for the Grant to do that...is talking only money and politics with one delay after another and other county's competing for the grants too. So thank you in advance if anyone can help me. more

Resolved Question: Internet Provider DSL Slow Speed HELP REPORT THEM?

Ok, I have been with a locally owned IP (the only one in this area) for over 5 years. I have a DSL service with this company and I started having issue with my download speeds about 2 months ago going as low as 56k(dialup), I pay for 1400kbps download. Now the issue with speed only happens between the hours of 5pm-11pm and then jump back up like nothing is wrong. I dont have wireless 1 computer connected and even bought a new one to make sure that it wasnt it. Anyway I have emailed and called the company at least 8 times in the last few months and they sent out a tech and he found nothing wrong with the line. They have business hours from 8-4 and no one is in after hours. So I cant have anyone come out to see this issue. I have tried to get them to do something and they act like " we cant guarantee your speeds, they will vary" NOT that much! Anyway my question is what can I do? Who can I report this to? This company is small and like I said before is the only IP around. I feel like my hands are tied. any advise? more

Resolved Question: Where can I get a customized email address without paying for internet service?

I am getting ready to dump my dial-up. Its not the company, its the bad phone lines that mess up my connection and often lock up my computer. Since I live in the sticks, I can't get cable, DSL, or anything but mega-expensive satellite. Air cards won't even work well here, and they are not cheap. For ebay and other services, I can't use a free site like Yahoo or Hotmail, so I need another address. Yahoo used to have this available, but the bundled it with a business service that I don't need or want to pay for. I would be willing to pay a small fee for a customizable email address that was at least as secure as Yahoo Mail. Any thoughts?I plan to access this email account from work during lunch or at wi-fi hot spots. Thanks for the reply. I know when I tried to use my Yahoo email account to register on Ebay about 5 years ago, they would not let me use my Yahoo account. However, I just changed my email address on the account, and it worked more

Resolved Question: WANs, Internet Acces, and Remote Connectivity PT1?

A national, nonprofit organization of small business owners called PERKS is holding two simultaneous conferences: one in an Atlanta convention center and one in a Seattle convention center. Both conferences will include speakers, workshops, and exhibit booths showing off new services and products. Each convention center boasts T1 connections to the internet via regional ISP’s. The technical manager for PERKS asks you for your help in making sure that everything is in order for the conferences. One requirement is having a small LAN established on the exhibit hall floors that will allow visitors to register their names, addresses, and comments. The registration information from attendees at both the Atlanta and Seattle conferences must be checked against and added to information that’s already in the PERKS membership database. The headquarters for PERKS located in Washington D.C., uses a DSL connection to a regional ISP. However, the PERKS membership database is on a server located at their ISP’s database center; it is not housed at the PERKS headquarters. What type of LAN will allow PERKS to combine information from both the Atlanta and Seattle locations with information already in the database at the Washington D.C. server? Resolved Question: I want to know why it is so difficult for At&t to keep promises? No wonder other companies are beating you?

I had your So called high speed internet in my home. My daughter moved in and wanted a phone so we contacted AT&t. You sent a repair man out he disconnected my DSL and hooked up the phone. So we called back and we were told to wait a week and a half for another service man, in the mean time At&t shut off the phone line and said no problem the Internet is back working. Which it wasn't! So we wait until yesterday the service man comes out and says ok the phone works. At&t turned the phone back on yesterday morning, but still no internet!!! This is the real kicker we explain all of this to the service man he goofs around for a bit then comes in and hands me his cell phone to make an appointment for a DSL call for service. I made the appointment for today between 8-5 no one ever showed. So my daughter calls At&t and they state no appointment was ever made. This situation has my daughter very upset to the point of crying because she lost my internet. I know this is falling on deaf ears. At&t will do nothing to compensate us for our anger and frustration. I know this much if they treat other customers like they have treated us At&t will not be in business long. I will be cancelling my dsl and my daughter has stated she will cancel her phone. Just too frustrating! more

Resolved Question: My step father is trying to sue me for 11,000$ out of spite?

My step father has been with my mother for 17 years. He has been mentally abusive towards me for those 17 years and physically and mentally abusive towards my mother. Back in July I had to call the police at my mothers request because of my step fathers behavior. My step father has a LOT of money. He owns his own buisness. The house he lives in with my mother (i have moved out) is 1.6million and he owns many other properties. I on the other hand am 21 years old. I'm going to college full time and working to pay my way through it. My step father claims me on his taxes which makes it hard for me to get insurance or anything for what I can afford. Hes trying to use me for 4 years of phone and internet service. He says that it amounts to about 5,800$. We have 2 phone lines in the house. We got the 2nd line when we got the internet because they got an e-mail address for the business. When we switched to DSL the 2nd phone line remained active for the fax machine. I plugged a phone into the 2nd phone line to use it to talk on when it wasnt being used by the fax becuase I was not able to use the main line due to clients calling and such. I dont see how he can charge me for that stuff, I never agreed to pay it. Hes also trying to sue me for 4,600$ worth of car insurance. The car that I drive is in my mothers name - she owns it. I've paid car insurance every year excpt for this one becuase this year it was transferd into my name. So I only owe him about 1,000 for that and I have the cashed/returned checks to prove it. Hes also suing me for 3 years of property taxes on a vehicle that I do not even own (though I do drive it, it is my mothers car) For a while to "help out" with money (even though hes makes close to a million a year) I was doing the family grocery shopping and giving my mom the reciepts. Shopping for a family of 6 would often times cost more than my entire paycheck! I would give my mom the reciepts so that she could show my step-father (who is money hungry). I should have made copies of the reciepts and the fact that I did not is a lesson well learned because my mother lost all of them. There was well over 4,000$ worth of groceries that I bought. (Not including groceris for myself. I always have done seperate shopping for myself). He gave me the hand-written letter yesterday and says he wants the 11,000 by the 28th of this month or he'll see me in court. I am co-signing a loan for my boyfriend for a condo and he also threatend to put a lean on the condo. Can he get away with these things that hes suing me for?I seriously believe that this is another form of his abuse. Hes a control freak and even though I had the strength to get out and leave, this seems to be his way of still controling me. I am going to be talking to a lawyer tomorrow (She is not in the office today) but until then, whats your opinion? My mom was going to get a divorce from him. She actually had a restraining order against him. Why she turned back on her plans i'm not sure. I honestly believe that she is afraid of him. My mom knows whats going on. But she has no say in what happens as far as this goes. This is between my step father and I. Money is Money. If the COURT decides I have to pay him then so be it. After this is said and done he'll have nothing to hold against me. Its not the money he wants - its my happiness. And hes not going to get that. HAPPINESS does not come from money in my mind (as it does his). Happiness is my amazing family and my health - which I am very grateful for. more

Resolved Question: 3.0 MBPS Internet Fast enough?

i have a Cigar business and we have a cigar lounge. i want to give my customers WIFI Access and i have looked at a couple different internet companies. i found one that will provide me DSL service with a speed of 3.0 mbps and i wanted to know if i connected that to a wireless router if that speed would be fast enough for my customers where they wouldn't complain that the internet was too slow. Note: i will normally have 3-4 computers on the same router at once and i know the more computers you have on the same connection the slower it goes.  more

Resolved Question: How Can I find out when I will be able to get DSL / Cable Internet?!?!?

How can I find out what the actual plans are for my area for DSl and cable internet? I just happen to live in an area that is surrounded by DSL and cable internet service, but it's not in my exact area. Same goes for cell phone service, but that's another story. I know they have cable internet through Charter within 5-10 miles of me, and same goes for DSL, but whenever you call them, you just get the 'We'll let yo know when it's available.' business. I would consider doing a WISP for my subdivision, and the two subdivisions right next to ours (about 150 homes total), but I know as soon as I invest all the money, they'll roll in and set up DSL and cable. HELP! more

Resolved Question: Can you get Residential DSL service from Qwest for Business (office space)?

Me and my partner are looking for DSL Internet service for an office space. We noticed that Business service is substanitally more money and our business doesn't need crucial Business Services (quick response etc...) We are willing to go a day or so without Internet; no big deal... I noticed I go through the Qwest checkout process online for Residential and our address shows up correctly (It is Commercial/office space)... What does setting up DSL entail? We won't have a phone number, just Internet service... Any ideas...What other options do you recommend? It seems I only have Qwest or Comcast... Comcast doesn't have service their either.. more

Resolved Question: Current state of Yahoo/ATT personal address service?

I've had a personal address through ATT/Yahoo (SBC or SWBell when I got it) for several years. I received two letters in July 08 saying the service was shutting down, and I was to be switched to Yahoo Small business at the same cost ($35/yr.) with no loss of features. They said it would happen in August, but nothing happened except I can no longer re-route my web address as before, and I cannot upgrade or downgrade my service. The letter said my personal address would get its own premium mailbox, as opposed to sharing it with my ATT/Yahoo ID mailbox. I seem to be in limbo, and was wondering if anyone is in the same situation. I'd also like to know if and when it is moved to a new mailbox, will it be Yahoo servers, since there was no mention of ATT in the letter. I'd like to know if the mailbox will be independent of my ATT DSL service. A response to an email to Yahoo support got the response to wait two or three weeks and contact them again if there's no change. They didn't answer any of my questions. Online I cannot find anyone describing this situation. Am I the only one? more

Resolved Question: Centurytel bundled services?

I have had Centurytel for both my phone and (DSL) internet provider. I was paying for each service separately. I discovered that I could save money if I "bundled" those two services. I called, they confirmed I would save money so I had them do the bundle. Now 2 months later, another phone company and ISP has been authorized to do business here and are much cheaper. I called Centurytel to cancel and they said if you cancel, we will charge you a $200.00 cancellation fee. I asked what that was all about. I was was told that I entered into a one year contract when I bundled my services. I said, I have never signed such a contract and because I ordered the services on the phone, their rep never mentioned one word about any "contract". I was told that it was a verbal contract. I explained again that their rep never said anything about a contract. They told me I would be charged the $200.00 fee anyway. I have contacted my states consumer protection people and filed a complaint but it is taking a long while and the other company's offer is running out at the end of August so I need to know if my credit will be damaged when I cancel with Centurytel and refuse to pay the $200.00. Do I have a leg to stand on ? Will my credit rating be harmed ? more

Resolved Question: Adding Dell laptop to domain?

Ok here is the scenario. I do volunteer work at a free clinic that supplies free medical services to low income families. They have a small network consisting of a single Windows 2003 server setup as a domain. There is a DSL modem, a D Link gateway, and a D Link 8 port switch. There are 7 client computers running Windows XP Pro. All of these client computers are working perfectly. Here is the problem. I have a Dell laptop running XP Pro that I would like to have access to the network as I sometimes work from home and would like to transfer that work to the server. At present I have to save all my work on a thumb drive and upload it to one of the client computers and then transfer it to the server. This way is very time consuming. The clinic has a business administrator but no network administrator since the former administrator moved on to a different position elsewhere. What can I do to get connected? more

Resolved Question: Why does my Internet run slower than it should?

I have Verizon DSL and while I know its not the quickest service out there now, it runs slower than it should. I ran a test online and it says that I download at 252 KB/s but whenever I download programs or game demos it constantly downloads at a speed of 60-90 KB/s. I know its nothing with my computer because I have a new Dual Core PC and a Pentium 4 that run fine. I live in a very residential area away from tall structures or businesses that might interfere. Can anyone help?Dont know if this helps but the computers are connected through a router buts its a wired connection. Not wireless. more

Resolved Question: Can I break my apartment lease if they are switching cable companies and I go without service for awhile?

I have been living in a place for 3 years and it took over a year to get my DSL. Now the cable company we have is going out of business and it appears that we are going to go without cable for awhile. The apartment complex has known about this for over 3 months and are just now starting to do something about it. Can I legally break my lease for them not providing basic services? more

Resolved Question: Recently hooked back up to DSL line after being disconnected for week!. Dial up window keeps appearing !?

Last Friday our DSL line was disconnected without warning ! We called repeatedly with complaint They said we had to start from base 1 and re order which meant 3 business days before order could be processed. After almost 7 days withou internet access, it was back of course after hours and hours of phone calls. The first day back problems, as the dial up connection window keeps appearing and it prevents me from continuing on page until I close and cancel window. Irritating and worrying this is going to disconnect me from DSL again !! Last night we complained, but today, window still pops up. Pain, and service the past week was unacceptable from largest provider of internet service THEY DON'T CARE !! How can I get rid of the window without losing DSL before I call them back AGAIN I have been going to local library to access interent the past 7 days because I needed to conduct business and it has been a heck of a week. more

Resolved Question: Many at work at home businesses require DSL or cable. Can they really tell if you have h.s. Satellite service?

They = the companies hiring at home professionals. Here is my dilemma... I need DSL or cable internet with a bandwidth down of 1000kbits/sec and up 200kbits/sec. My current DSL is only 512kbs down and 768kbs up. It is a local DSL company, and the only one in my area that offers high speed internet service, but they don't have any faster packages. So I was looking at satellite internet service, and was wondering if they (the companies requiring DSL or cable) would be able to tell if I was using satellite internet from the pc test they require. (pcpitstop.com -"full test" on left side) Hope that clarifies it a little. more

Resolved Question: how reliable is DSL/satellite internet connectivity in the Phillipines?

I can work anywhere I can get an internet connection, but it has to be a totally solid connection with low latency or lag of any kind. Preferably 24/7 connection with minimal downtime. I'm thinking of buying satellite, DSL at the same time from multiple places and swapping between if one goes down. My software needs 24/7 connectivity to the internet, uninterrupted and without lag. Even 20 seconds of no connectivity (if it happens 4 or 5 times a day) would severely disrupt my business. My biggest concern is brown-outs, power outages for hours, bad weather interrupting satellite for hours, severe lag disrupting connections and generally lag far worse than you would get from a US connection. Is it unrealistic to expect days of uninterrupted service (total connectivity with no lag for many days in between disruptions)? My location will be in Mindano (Bislig), approx 4 hours bus ride north of Davao. I know there is DSL/satellite available there. more

Resolved Question: Breach of Contract... or not?

HughesNet provides my satellite connection, as I do not live in a place that offers DSL or cable. Throughout my experience with HughesNet, they said that I am guaranteed AT LEAST 600kbps download speed, with a max speed of 1000kbps. Over the past few weeks, I have been lucky to get 100kbps download speeds. I have called support on several occasions. They keep saying that "engineers will call in 2 business days". That time came and went with no call. When I called them they still would not help me, saying to wait 2 more days for an engineer. Still no call after 4 business days. I contacted the BBB to get them involved. Even still, no response. I am losing money with every passing day my Internet does not work, as I do web design. Seeing that this is how I make my living, do I have a breach of contract case against HughesNet for not providing promised services? Any help would be appreciated.Judging by some of the answers I'm receiving, some additional details are required: The problem is most certainly NOT on my system. The pattern shows that morning hours provide faster service than the peak afternoon hours. This points to an over-used satellite (I've had this problem with them, before). Also, to clarify, the problem has been going on for more than 4 days. That's how long the "we'll call you" battle has been going on. The actual length of this problem is more like 3 months. The BBB has been in contact with Hughes and Hughes is feeding the BBB misinformation (which the BBB forwards to me), forcing me to correct what Hughes is telling the BBB. In short, contacting the BBB has gotten me nowhere in this nightmare. Hope this clears up any misunderstandings and the time line of events, a bit. more

Resolved Question: What are my options (Verizon complaint)?

Since October 2007, I've been trying to switch my home phone service, DSL service and wireless to Verizon's Triple Play bundle (you get all three services for $94 a month). I've been told every month since October that the changes were made to my account and would be shown in the next bill, but they never were. The last rep. I talked to told me that I would even get a credit for overpaying and that I would receive it on this bill. Well, I just got this bill and no changes were made, no credit issued. I caught the wireless rep. supervisor in a bind when the home phone/DSL rep. confirmed (we were in a conference call) that I have been trying to make these changes since October, different from her claims of December. I feel that I shouldn't have to continue to pay for bad service and would like to end my business deal with Verizon. How do I go about explaining that I shouldn't be responsible for early termination fees? more

Resolved Question: Has anyone else noticed that since AT&T bought Bellsouth your DSL internet has slowed down a lot??

Mine surely has, and it's not the computer. It's been degragmented, decookied, and i've taken it to a friend's house who has a different service and it's back up to speed. Now AT&T sends emails advertising how you can "get your DSL back up to speed"-- for an extra charge of course. Isn't that nasty business practice? Can it be reported to someone as antitrust or class action??? more
