Duke, UNC among top 20 business grad schools
The graduate schools of business at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill rank among the top 20 in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine's rankings list Duke's Fuqua School of Business at No. 14 for its graduate program. That ties Fuqua with programs at Cornell University and the University of Virginia.
UNC's graduate program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School ranked No. 19, just ahead of Indiana University and one spot behind the University of Texas.
U.S. News says its professional schools rankings are based on "expert opinion about program quality and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research, and students." Data for the business schools rankings were based on assessments given by academics and business recruiters, graduates' mean starting salary and employment rates, and student selectivity data such as mean GMAT and undergraduate GPA scores. more
Drop the sales title, you re in business development
The word sales should be banished from every business card in every company. If you have the title of sales representative, sales manager or vice president of sales, then you are instantly putting yourself in a subservient position when it comes to advancing your revenue opportunities.
Think about this for a second the most successful CPAs in accounting firms are the ones who bring in the most clients. The most successful attorneys in law firms are the ones who have the most cases with the biggest clients. Does either of them carry the word sales on their business cards? The answer is obviously absolutely not.
Yet, what separates them from the rest of their peer group is their ability to bring new clients into their firm. I recently asked a managing partner of a large regional accounting firm what his top three challenges are in his business during this economic climate. more

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., BUSINESS WIRE -- Incasolution Co., Ltd., Korea (HJJ Global Inc, USA in charge of global marketing & sales) today announced the introduction of CheckTap(TM), a unique automatic energy-saving device designed to reduce or eliminate the consumption of electricity that is wasted when PCs and peripheral devices are on, but not in use. CheckTap lowers energy consumption by automatically cutting off idle equipment without turning off or unplugging a computer. Computer performance or speed is not affected and automatic energy savings reports are generated.
CheckTap is the only software-operated product that saves both wasted power in use and standby power. It differs from existing power-saving devices or outlets that only sense the primary power source of connected equipment to turn off related peripherals. more
Space memorial firm will rocket cremated remains on the moon
SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - A US firm specializing in sending people's cremated ashes into orbit is going to turn the moon into a graveyard for earthlings beginning next year.
Instead of caskets or urns, ashes of the dearly departed will be sealed in capsules built into lunar landing modules, which will serve as communal crypts on the moon's surface.
Celestis Inc. will charge about 10,000 dollars (US) to send a single gram of human remains to the moon and plans a deal for couples -- 14 grams of ashes from two people for approximately 30,000 dollars.
Celestis confirmed on Friday that it has deals with private firms Odyssey Moon Limited and Astrobotic Technology Inc. to send cremated human remains to the lunar surface via private rocket flights by the end of 2009. more

Resolved Question: So, I found out earlier that I'm not going to graduate this Spring, because...?
My adviser informed me that I've yet to meet the Global/International or Historical Awareness course required for my degree. Now before I enrolled for the Spring semester, I met with an adviser (different one) who explained to me what final credits I needed to complte to get my diploma. She did not mention anything about a Global/International or Historical Awareness course. So now, I feel lied to, along with the thought of me being RIPPED OFF for taking an unnessecary course, because at the end of this semester I would've earned, what I thought and was told, my 64 credits for my Associate of Business, but now I'm going to be earning 67 credits due to being mislead by an adviser. The fine print says I needed to take a Global/International or Historical Awareness course and I thought the college advisers were there to help me (like tell me about the fine print and what I needed to do to earn my degree/credits and what not), not mislead and rip me off. Because the way I'm seeing things is that the school I'm attending "hid" this info from me, so that I continue to "invest" money for education, as they know once I'm graduating the odds of me paying for anything towards the school is slim to none. My question is, what should I do about this? Should I bring this to the Dean's/President's attention? Because now I got another fork in the road. I now have to spend my summer taking a class that I thought wasn't needed. I obviously took and paid out of my own pocket for a course I didn't need to take. And I now get my diploma at the end of Summer, instead of at the end of Spring. I'm very upset at my school in general for telling me this now when I'm 7 weeks away from what I thought was going to be my graduation. *Sigh* Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: should i continue my study?
Hi, I'm from Korea and about to get married to American. I'm currently attending Korean university, major in American language & culture. My second major is international business but I really don't like it that much. I'm a sophomore now. I don't think I can get a job with my BA from this college in the U.S. So I'm thinking about going to business school after I get my BA to get a fine job as an immigrant but honestly I don't think I'm suitable for it. I don't wanna go to graduate school. So I just want to ask that which option would be better for me... transfer to American university and get my BA in U.S and look for a job or get my BA in Korea and go to graduate school in America? My major would be one of those liberal arts majors either I study here or in the US. Which will be better for me? moreResolved Question: College graduate who has been living with parents since October-Should I just pack my bags and move to a city?
I graduated college almost a year ago now (Spring 2009), and I haven't had any luck landing jobs in my field. I moved back home with my parents in October and have been holding 2 jobs in retail ever since. My hometown is extremely rural and doesn't have a lot of international business opportunities (which is what I studied). I'm going crazy.. there is nothing to do here, and I feel like I'm just wasting time that I should be networking. My parents won't let me move out until I have a full-time job offer, but I am considering up and moving somewhere. I feel like if I was in a city it would help my job prospects instead of applying in a small town hundreds of miles away. If I moved somewhere, I could at least work in customer service until that full-time job opportunity comes up. I feel like it's just a waste being here at 22, when I should be out starting a life of my own. I know I am not going to get a job just sitting here. I have been accepted into a few graduate programs out of state beginning in the fall, which my parents see as a waste of time, but I know it will open a lot of doors. What should I do? Should I just pick a place and move there?? Still apply for jobs through my computer in a hick town while working in retail? Go to grad school and take out loans? Ugh it is so frustrating, and I am getting tired of living with my parents and being in the middle of nowhere. moreResolved Question: Simple Econ Help, Aggregate, easy ten points!?

I graduated from high school early and have gotten accepted to some really good schools here in the states but I would really like to study full time in australia. Im planning to major in international business and I want to experience international life. Can I go to a university in australia(or new zealand) and get a student visa even though im only 17? moreResolved Question: motivation. who can check?
guys, i have written a motivation to study at the university. who can check it? i also would like to heard a critics and something what i need to change or add or remove. please, help me. motivation is very important. Dear Sir or Madam, I am Evelina and I come from Latvia and currently I am living in the UK. I graduated from the gymnasium last year. I have heard a lot about Scotland, its culture and traditions. Some of my friends, who study there, have told me many interesting things about this part of England. Having read some articles and heard some reviews from others, I decided that Scotland is the best option for me. Since I love geography and traveling, I would like to be in touch with English culture, its architecture, lifestyle, interesting people, and find myself there. I have always been interested in business, administration and IT. That is why I have chosen Scotland as a place where I can study it. And therefore, this is the best place for me to find myself in this sphere, because I am an enthusiastic, with a love of people and a determination to succeed. I imagine a career which is: fast moving, gives me the opportunity for rapid promotion, is logical and practical, provides the chance to work wherever I want.I have always enjoyed learning about business. I found it fascinating. So it is quite easy for me to talk about my career ambitions (business) and what I want to do (be employed in the field of business and IT). What concerns my traits, I suppose that I am very well prepared for business and administration. To my mind, a business background is an excellent way to a good career. I have took a gap year after school and moved to United Kingdom for understanding myself – what I really want to do in my life, to improve my English skills and gain some work and life experience ,to meet new people as well. When I was at school, I worked as a secretary in the office one of my summer holiday in Czech Republic and I liked that job more rather than my current job (general assistant at the hotel). It is good I can make a comparison between such different part of work, that is why I decided that hospitality is not what I want to study and to do. Now, after long consideration, I came to the most obvious and elementary decision – business, administration and IT field is something that I want and what I need. I would like to mention my achievements in mathematics and drawing while I was at school. I am really good at problem-solving and figuring things out, at logic and analyses. I am engaged in plotting and drawing at school and also at the art school. And once, my figure has been noted at an exhibition in Macedonia. I am a good PC user (Excel, MS-Office) as well. I think, my decision to study this particular course, was affected by my father who worked both as a construction superintendent, and an engineer. He drew and designed a lot, work on the computer, communicated with people, and was responsible for many projects. I have always watched and listened carefully to how he did his job, and have learnt a lot from him. I think I got my drawing skills, my responsibility, my logical and analytical mind and the ability to come up with fast and right decisions, from my father. I played a lot of sports as a kid. This is where I have learned the values of teamwork, how to win, how to work hard, how to focus and concentrate, and how to find a balance between my time and priorities. And I suppose that the gained experience will be quite valuable for my future life and career. To sum up, I think to study abroad is an excellent way to broaden my horizons, to make new friends, to get not only theoretical but and practical knowledge. It is wonderful starting to communicate with international people and without recognition beginning to look at world a little bit differ. In my opinion, Scotland can provide a lot of opportunities for my future career. It’s the best place to study, live and work. Studying in Scotland would be a great experience for me. I am sure I will do my best there. Thank you for considering my application Yours faithfully, moreResolved Question: Pursuing Japanese MBA?
Studying abroad during undergrad wasn't possible because of school credits and financial issues and I found out that getting an entry-level job in Tokyo after I graduate would be nearly impossible. Instead, I'm now considering studying in Japan during graduate school after working in the U.S. for a couple of years. I'm majoring in International Business while in undergrad, and I want to focus on East and South East Asia. I've been to Tokyo a few times and now I really want to experience living there while I'm still young, so I figured my one option would be getting my MBA from a university in Tokyo. About the language issue, I've been actively learning for two years now, and I figured I could reach conversational or even fluent level if I wait until I go to grad school (two years from now) to go there. The thing is, should I decide to come back to the U.S. or pursue a job in Tokyo, how would a Japanese MBA affect my job prospects?I understand that competition in any professional field will be tight whether I decide to work in Japan or in the U.S. I was looking into the MBA programs for Keio, Waseda, and Sophia for their reputation in being internationally focused and wondered if it would be worth it to pursue an MBA in one of those schools should I choose to live out my professional career in Japan. moreResolved Question: Is a master's in international relations/mass communication worth taking out 50 K in loans to pursue?
I graduated from college about a year ago now (Spring 2009), and I haven't had any luck landing jobs. I had a BA in communications with a minor in international business. I had a good GPA, did two internships, studied abroad, and held a variety of leadership roles for my university. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck landing a professional entry level job. I've been accepted into a few graduate schools concentrating in mass communication and international relations. I definately want to pursue graduate school, and I think a master's degree will open up some more opportunities. However I don't want to waste 2 more years, and take out more loans to be in the same boat, but I just don't see any other options. Should I go for it and take out the loans to do it?? moreResolved Question: What job is for me? What should I major in?
I am currently in high school and as college is quickly approaching, I am considering all majors to go into. I am a bright student and let me tell you briefly about my academics: 4.7 GPA (about) "Gifted Program" (GIEP) 250+ Community service hours per year (Trying for 300+) Advanced placement courses. In the top one percent of my grade. Personality, hobbies: Tennis player, USTA 3.5 rating, hope to be 4.0 when I graduate. Like to help people. Nothing in the medicine field, I hate blood and the human body, etc. Best in my math class, took 11th grade math courses in 9th grade. Outstanding leadership skills, etc. My gifted teacher thinks I should major in Public Policy at Cornell and then get an MBA at Wharton Acadamy (School) of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and go into Corporate Real Estate Development. I'm not sure if that's what I'm into though. I'm really artsy but I don't want to be an artist (I'm not that good), like arcitecture, job MUST require traveling to different cities, etc, salary about $100k starting, nearing $150k-$200k at peak. I do not know about maybe some type of international relations manager? I also like politics, not really law but I'm really good on the mock trial team and on the HS Speech League (forensics). So does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks, and If you have any ?s, I'll try to post additional details for you all. Thank you and have a great evening! -Ethan moreResolved Question: Is the world a dark place??? PLZ help?
Dear all, I am really lost, and I need your help... I am only 25 years old, and I am very ambitious.. I have graduated from Business School, and I am currently working in a huge corporation where I make a lot of money, but it's not my dream. I have always wanted to make positive change, work somewhere where I can make a difference everyday by going to work.. So I hate working for such private profit oriented company. I am planning to quit and pursue a career in International Relations.. but I am scared... Let me tell you why, first because many people who work in the UN had told me that it's the same everyone, and that there is corruption everywhere and it is not going to be different... Second, I am in a relationship with this wondefull guy.. I think he's the one.. I'm crazy about him and I'm going to have to go abroad to study and follow my dream.. I dont know if we can survive a distant relationship.. SO I have a question for all of you... Do dreams come true? Can we really make a difference..??? I am very very ambitious and I have so many goals.. but I am starting to think..... What if I become a bit less ambitious, and maybe get married, and have kids like normal people..?? What do you think? Love vs. Career? Reality vs. Dreams? Money vs. Making a difference? moreResolved Question: Difference between the international majors?
I'm half way through my junior year in high school and naturally, I've been receiving a lot of college mail. So I've been thinking of what I want to study in college and where I want to go. I already decided I want to minor in Spanish, but the more letters I look at I've noticed three majors that sound almost the same. What's the difference between International Business, International Relations, and International Studies? I can't really tell what the difference between them are. Could someone tell me what I would be studying in each of these, what kind of jobs I would have after graduating, and which colleges are best for these majors? Thank you. =) moreResolved Question: What kind of colleges will accept me with a 3.75 - 3.85 GPA?
my profile: i took mostly honors courses and am going to graduate with an honors diploma..(i'm not sure what my weighted gpa is) and then i'm taking/going to be taking AP macroeconomics and AP statistics my expected SAT score will be 1800 according to the PSAT, so that translates into a ~27 on the ACT. i'm taking the SAT in June. the university i'm looking at right now doesn't look at extracurriculars or an essay or an interview at all, but i did 3 yrs of swimming on the high school team, and 2 years of key club (volunteer)...i also tried out track/field, speech, and math league each for a year. i'm interested in an international business major. what kind of universities will accept me? examples? i'm from the us but i'm looking at the university of manitoba..im a junior right now, so i have 1 year to start applying to places..getting worried that they wont accept me.. moreResolved Question: With which major i have a better chance of finding a job after graduating from grad school?
Hello , I am about to get into grad school , the thing is that i am not sure with which major it'd be easier to find jobs after graduating. I am an international student and i am looking to work in the US and later moving back to Europe. I have to choose between any of these three majors and i'm extremely confused : International Master of Business Administration ; Master of Public Policy and Management; or Master of education in Counseling and Guidance. I was a Political Science major in undergrad and it has been extremely hard to find a job in that area especially since as an international student i can't work for government organizations. I would deeply appreciate your opinions. moreVoting Question: International Master of Business Administration or Master of Public Policy and Management?

Hi I am an international student currently studying at a top 15 business undergraduate program. And the accounting program I am studying at is top 10. However the tuition and costs are heavy burden for me so I am thinking about Brigham Young University, where they have all strict rules and student codes (but i can live with perfectly, except the no coffee no tea rule) and very attractive tuition rate, and a very good accounting program that I think might be comparable to the one I am in right now. However job placement is the thing that I consider the most. I am not religious. But recently I have been going to church with my host family, they are really nice christian. I always wanted to pray to Jesus when I am down. But I am too scientific and I have never ever been religious for the past 20 years of my life I doubt I am ready for baptise or similar level. I haven't asked my host family because I think it would be impolite as I heard Christians don't like Mormons. So if I am to become a Christian, will it be wrong to attend BYU? (This is Question 1 :) ) Meanwhile I know there's a lot of christians here in the US. One thing I worry that because there are so many christians it might be inevitable that a lot of the job recruiters are christians. If a student graduating from a Mormon church school interview with the christian job recruiters. Is there a possibility that they will deny me because I potentially may be mormon? Are there many companies that go to the Brigham Young campus to hire? (these are Question 2 & 3) moreResolved Question: Why University of Illinois (champaign Urbana)? Also, How personal is their admissions process?
Okay, so I am currently a junior in high school and I am researching universities and looking into the best schools, financially and by the quality of the education. I am originally from Illinois but I have been going to high school overseas in Milan, Italy since I was a freshman. It has been a great experience but I'm not quite sure if I will fit into the U of I community because of my diverse background and experiences. Although, I would love if it were possible. My mom recieved both her graduate and undergraduate degrees from U of I (champaign urbana) so she has been pushing me to apply there. Although she has told me once or twice that it is difficult to get in, and she's not sure I am able to. Honestly it was a bit of a blow to my ego but I would like to know what my chances are, and whether the admissions process will take into account the many extracurricular and other personal activities I have dedicated myself to. Below is a taste of my personal achievements during HS: I am currently taking the International Bacchleareaute (haha that is spelled wrong fyi) or the IB. This is like AP and is an accelerated program. I am taking HL math, HL English, and HL Chemistry although I do not plan to go into a Chemistry-related major. Since my freshman year, my semester grades have included all A+s and As except for this past semester I recieved 2 Bs. Our school does not include B+s or A-s because the IB does not grade this way. I received two Bs in Chemistry and Spanish. My courses include Economics, HL Math, Business Studies, HL English, HL Chemistry, Spanish and Italian. I am interested in entering the Business field or possibly communications although I have not quite decided. To continue this already pretty long description, I am in numerous extracurriculor activities and really dedicate myself to all. I have been in student government as Publicity official for my sophmore year and junior year, plus I am running for President this spring for my senior year. I am a member of NHS (national honors society) and have planned many charity events in conjunction. I am also treasurer of Prom Comitteee, and also do MANY sports. I was basketball captain my sophmore and junior year, and volleyball captain my junior year. I also play soccer. This takes alot of my time and I really enjoy particpating in everything. I won the most outstanding english award for 10th grade and most improved in physics last year as well. I am hoping to recieve both English and Economics this year and I am currently particpating in an international marketing competition with the well known company Media-Saturn. Overall, I just want to know if U of I will take into account many of these parts of my life that I have worked so hard to incorporate. I am almost positive I have left many things out as well. I do habitat for humanities and am going to travel to Romania in May as well as I have done a personal fundraiser for St. Judes. I know U of I has a great club diversity but I also just want the best school that will help me succeed. ~Thanks* Oh and I also do MUN (Model United Nations) and go to a conference in Dublin, Ireland everyyear...... moreResolved Question: What colleges should I apply to?

Caution, this is a rant: I'm 22 years old in my last semester of college. I just want to be done already. I'm studying Business and International Relations which don't really have an interest in..I guess I did at one time..but not really anymore. I don't really want to do anything and i don't really have a direction in my life. I'm thinking that when I graduate in May, I should move somewhere far far away. I signed a lease with a friend last month. Last week, her boyfriend basically moved in for an unknown period of time. He quit his job and does have some upcoming interviews. So it's not like he's not trying to get another job. Her bf ate some of my stuff..but then went out to the grocery store and got me replacement food. So he is trying to not get on my bad side. He does attempt to clean up after himself even though his stuff is in the common area and bathroom. I didn't sign up for living with him. I have to constantly hear them bicker and I basically stay in my room. I'm fed up with the snow, my living situation and school. moreResolved Question: What is there to live for?

I'm a mom to 2 babies, and I graduated from an international medical school. However, I was looking for career change as i grew dissatisfied with practicing medicine, and wanted to work more on a societal level and make more impact to improve both the educational and healthcare systems, something i couldn't do by only practicing medicine. However, i want to attend a reputable university to be able to work with top firms, and i got nothing to show except my medical degree, to be able to gain admission at such schools. I live in North Carolina, and i thought doing a masters in liberal studies first would give me a good head start. It's fairly easy to get into, and good for me explore different fields and discover what i really want to do. It's also good on class times, which will be during evenings. That way i could still take care of my kids, and by the time i finish the degree, they'll be older, so i could go ahead and apply for the more rigorous degrees of law and business or government and business. What would be a better, worthy degree to pursue and would help me get in those top programs? Harvard Extension School or Duke Graduate School, both in liberal studies? I would love it if someone with experience advises me. Please help! moreResolved Question: Should I take an entry level job at an advertising firm or pursue a master's in college student affairs?
I graduated from college in May 2009 with a bachelor's degree in business marketing with a minor in international relations. While in college I was in a sorority and had the opportunity to work in the admissions office. I was involved in a lot of student activities, studied abroad, and did a few internships. I haven't had any luck landing jobs in my field. I moved back in with my parents and have been working in retail until something comes up. I was recently accepted into graduate school for a master's degree in college student affairs, but I also interviewed for a full-time entry level job at a global advertising firm. I am very unsure of what direction to take, and just wanted to get some input about each direction. I definately enjoyed the college experience, and I think it would be neat to work at a college, but it is all I've known. I like learning, and the college environment. Part of me thinks that I might just be attracted to it because it's all I've known. However advertising/marketing is what I went to school for, but since I haven't worked in it, I'm not sure direction I can take with it. There's a lot that I want to do in my life, but I'm not sure what my end goal is. I feel like I'll figure out what my "dream" is as I go, but I need to start somewhere. I'm also unsure if it would be unwise to turn down a full-time to pursue grad school. I know I'd like to get a master's degree someday for sure and work on the international level but just not sure what direction. I am currently in my junior year as an international business major. I have about a year and a semester to go before I obtain a degree in international business. I have a passion to go into the medical industry, and be a doctor. To my understanding, if I take the core undergraduate courses after I graduate, (chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, etc.) I can then apply to medical school, regardless of what I received my undergraduate degree in. Does this sound possible? Will I be scrutinized for having a degree in international business, as opposed to something more medical, like biology? I'm a student looking to join the international business field and planned on graduating this May. I have a lot of room for extra credits this semester so I was thinking about adding a minor in international business. I can squeeze in the whole minor this semester at the cost of putting my capstone course off one more semester (summer semester). Do minors really make me more marketable or not? I am an International Graduate of Business, with a major in Marketing. I currently reside outside United States. I intend learning more about Digital Business. I do not need certifications alone. I need the degree. Currently, Digital Business is not in the curriculum of the Marketing Department or Business Administration Department of the Graduate school I wish to attend. I can only take Digital Business, as a concentration area in the department of Management Information system. With my business degree, and a major in Marketing, I applied to study management information system at a graduate school. My wish remains to concentrate on digital business. I was accepted, and now I have my I-20. I told my friends that I have been accepted into a graduate school in the U.S, and I am preparing to apply for my student Visa. They told me that since I major in Marketing, and I intend going for a Masters Degree in Management Information system (which they consideras IT related), that I would be denied the Visa. Most of them are saying thesame thing, and I have been worried ever since. The school knows my career plans, and that was why I was accepted. I am interested in the digital business aspect of the program, and not just strictly the IT degree alone. Please I need your response. ok. I just recently graduated college with a diploma in general business which really means nothing. So I am going back to school this month and I am not sure what to study. I am thinking of specialising in something like Financial Planning (also a diploma). However I think a lot of people are graduating with degrees in the business field and someone like me with a diploma would not have much of a chance in getting a job. My other option is the Information Technology Applications and Technical Support course. But this is only a 51-week Certificate program. Since its a technical skill I probably have a better chance of getting a job after graduating. What do you guys think? This is the course description if you are interested; "The program will address fundamental skills in a number of areas including operating systems such as Windows and Linux, Health and Safety, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Electrical/Electronics, Soldering, Customer Service, Networking, Computer Maintenance, Job Search, Web Page Design, and Documentation. The graduate will be able to participate in technical conversations, install, configure, and operate standard office software applications and maintain the hardware components of office personal computers. They will be qualified to setup and maintain a standard networking system, create a full document system for tracking hardware/software and service calls, control and safety measures, and be capable of training staff. They would also learn how to design and maintain interactive web sites. In some of the program courses, students follow the curriculum from the International Computer Driving Licence program. Those students who successfully pass the ICDL examinations will receive International Computer Driving Licence Certificates from ICDL." moreResolved Question: statement of purpose, please help me with it, i welcome any change, thank you!?
As an international Chinese student in the United States, I believe that I have a great deal of business, academic, social, and cultural experience that will allow me to fit in well and contribute to the international flavor of Lund University. One of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a business student with a flair for the arts. I am a woman with technical aptitude and an interest in entreprenership. I also have a passion for traveling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work. My Business degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since business issues research involves a lot of complex and intricate relationships among parties who are aiming at different goals, and the application of basic math, communication and psychology skills. Over the past four years in college, I have been working part-time with my own business, Shining SIM Card, set up when I just became a college student. I was the president of student government and am also an active member with SSE - Siemens Solar Energy. I have assisted my father in his project to supervise and monitor the process in his company during my breaks. More than what I have studied in school and college, it has been these experiences that have shaped the person that I am today. I believe that this unique blend of experiences has made me a woman with an original point of view. This blend has given me a broader perspective to and a good understanding of life and a goal to aim for. Among other things, I have this diversity of experience to offer Lund University. My most substantial accomplishment has been the success of Shining SIM Card that I managed in Dalian, China, where I have been working as a manager since 2005. Entreprenership, as a field, had always fascinated me right from my middle school days, and being an entrepreneur to contribute its utilities to mankind is the life long dream and career objective I persue, it is worthy to devote energy and commitment to found my own business and lead it success. Shining SIM Card, my first big step on my enterprise career, compared with prior experience, grew up from only one employee to fifteen, the main consumers from one campus were enlarged to other 6 big universities and also some small schools of the local city when I graduated. Most of my customers were college students, as a student myself, it was easy for me to do surveies, to know the popular tastes, and the most impressing way to promote the business with very limited resources. The advertisement form developped from hand writing poster on wall to big colorful advertisement scroll and products propaganda for freshmen annually. The goal for advertisement is let 60% of the students consider my products first when they are about to purchase, and let them to introduce us to the rest 40%. Also I had an online sale shop for the convenience of customers, which has been in operation for 5 years. Run my own business required me to believe in myself and in what I thought was good for the company. I had to take a pro-active approach, take the initiative and play a leadership role in motivating people and executing events to completion. A good manager is one who can figure out where problem lies and may happen, deal with it effectively by involving all the members of the company and improve the overall culture of the company. The problems I saw at Shining SIM Card had to be resolved to sustain the company. The fact that I was able to pull off this task alone has boosted my confidence in my abilities. The business climate has never been more friendly toward entrepreneurship than it is today. However, enterprise and creativity alone are rarely sufficient to bring an entrepreneur's ideas to fruition. Though, venturing off into Entrepreneurship is a challenge, one which I think some formal education can help solidify and provide a stronger foundation for success. So that leads me to my application for an entreprenership program at Lund University, and I wish to develop an idea based on research from Lund University, during the master year. moreResolved Question: What are the pros and cons of going to college for a theater degree?

Don't really want to go too in depth about it, but thats the general jist (gist?... whatever) Anyways if I can get some indication of my chances of getting into uchicago that'd be great :) I'm applying for RD btw. I am graduating from a small liberal arts school. I have a 3.51 overall GPA and a 3.54 GPA in Psychology. I have a minor in Business with a 4.0 GPA. I took the GREs and got a 730 in the Quantitative section and a 620 in the Verbal section after studying for months for an overall score of 1350. I was in Dean's list for 4 semesters out 9. I started really slow. I am Latino and came to the States for my senior year only and then applied to college. My Freshman and Sophmore years were extremely difficult to me since I was far from home and was learning English. I used to go to class with a dictionary and write down some of the words the professors said because I couldn't understand them. I even have a D on my record (for Organic Chemistry) and some Cs (Other biology and chemistry classes). My GPA would have been way better had I not been a Biology major for 2 years prior to declaring my Psych major. I had a 3.8 GPA for my last 2 years and a 3.72 for my last 3 years (6 semesters). I have very good recommendation letters and my statement of purpose is very good according to my professors. I am part a member of PsiChi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, and was member of the Psychology Club. I also served as a secretary for the Psychology Club for 1 year. I was an E-Board member of another club as well and was member of two other clubs on campus. I was also a resident assistant for 2.5 semesters and a Summer RA for one summer. I have tons of community service experience and was also member of a (very hard) Research class in Psychology during one semester. I am a bit scared because of ,y early science GPA but I realize that I have a good curriculum overall. What do you guys think? Do I have a chance to get into a I/O Psych. program? Thanks for reading all this thing :-)In response to the person who said I should go into Business. Well, I'ver thought about it but sincerely my passion is Psychology. It is true that my GPA in Psych is way lower than my GPA in Business but taking a closer look it is not that different. I started taking Business classes in my Jr. year and at that point I was a different person than I was when I started taking my Psych classes. I have about 52 credits in Psychology. For the first 26 I had a 3.13 GPA and for the last 26 I had about a 3.91 GPA. For my Business classes I had a 4.0 for only 21 credits, and again I took those classes after my Jr. year. I understand what you say when you look at the raw numbers but when you look at the details it is not as different. My GRE scores tell you that I was a different student than I was when I was a Freshman/Sophomore. Thanks for the advise though. :-) moreTop International Business Graduate Schools Links
