Mortgage help advances
The bill would let the Federal Housing Administration back up to $300 billion in new loans for struggling homeowners who would be considered too financially risky to refinance into a fixed-rate, government-insured mortgage.
Borrowers would have to show they could afford the new loans and to share with the government half of their new equity and any future proceeds from selling or refinancing again. Mortgage holders would have to write down existing loans at a substantial loss, in exchange for avoiding a costly foreclosure. . more
Why retailers’ optimization priorities change as shoppers approach purchase
Search engine optimization has an important place in online marketing, and the most important pages of an e-retail site to optimize for natural search are those that will appeal to consumers who signal by their search terms that they are getting ready to buy, according to search marketing firm MoreVisibility.
At the beginning of shoppers buying process, terms of broad relevance television, for example can be worth optimizing pages around, by category leaders and mostly for branding purposes , but even then only on a very limited basis, says Joe Laratro, chief technology officer at MoreVisibility. These keywords can be powerhouses for traffic, but due to the range of intention among shoppers searching these terms, much of the traffic they generate may be untargeted or irrelevant, he says. more
Home-Based Business Industry
Owning a home-based business not only empowers a woman to control her future, but it also gives her flexibility with time and allows her to contribute to the national economy by hiring other women to fulfill her business needs. This fact alone immediately places Saudi home-based businesswomen in a leadership role.
In fact, for many countries, the home-based business industry is a licensed engine for economic growth that has proven its viability through its significant contribution to the national GDP as well as to the labor statistics of those nations. If planned well, creating an enabling environment to develop Saudi home-based businesses is a realistic solution toward resolving our current unemployment dilemma. Tragically enough, if we continue to ignore this golden opportunity, the industry will always remain a hidden diamond in the rough. more

I know what the US News and World Report says but what would be a truly better school if I wanted to get a B.A. in English and Philosophy and go to either business or law school upon graduation? (And don't give me some crap about its not the school its what you make out of it) Which school would have a better outlook for your future if you were to engage in all the extracurriculars and internships you could and maintain a high GPA and score high on the graduate school standardized tests?its ok I forgive you MM moreResolved Question: Should I stay, transfer or quit?
Could someone help me out with this? I know this is long but I really need help. I had pretty good grades in high school, pretty good SATs and good extra curriculars. GPA was 3.6. SAT was 2080. Not incredible but pretty decent. However, due to some major personal problems, work with AP classes and various other issues senior year, I didn't put enough time into the college application process. Now, I'm going to a school that is pretty good but not great, "The College of New Jersey," and I'm in the honors program. I am about to finish my first semester. I chose this college because people told me it was an excellent school and I liked the campus when I visited. I looked on US News and World Report and saw that it was ranked the #5 Public Northern Masters University. It had a score of 83 out of 100. "Wow," I thought. That's only 2 points less than Cornell and it's rank is 5 while Cornell is 15. And it's one rank less than UPenn. I figured it was a good school to get into because I figured I couldn't get into Princeton or Harvard. At the time, I had no idea what schools were good other than knowing that Harvard and Princeton are excellent. I didn't know what schools are in the Ivy League and I hadn't heard of John Hopkins or MIT or Georgetown. My parents and guidance counselors told me that TCNJ was a very good school so I believed them. I also didn't know that US News isn't necessarily a reliable way to research colleges. I didn't know how to compare schools' prestige in any other way. Once I got to the College of New Jersey. I realized that many people here had lower GPAs and SATs in high school than me. I also have been looking online and, apparently, the college isn't well-known at all. Therefore, I feel that it may be hard to get a great job or get into a top grad school coming from it. There is no prestige associated with TCNJ. People don't know that it is a decently hard school to get into. Judging by the name, it sounds like it's a community college or just another mediocre college. People know Rutgers and Penn State but if I tell them I go to The College of New Jersey, they have no idea what it is and think I am an underachiever. If I choose to major in business or engineering, employers will think I went to a mediocre school. People told me TCNJ was a better school than Rutgers which is a school I could have easily got into. However, now I realize that while Rutgers is easier to get into than TCNJ, it is much more well-known, especially when you go outside of the tri-state area. Also, while the education and 7 year med program here is really good, everything else isn't anything really special. I don't want to be a teacher and it's too late to apply for the 7 year med program. I have no idea what I want to major in but if I major in engineering or business and decide not to go to grad school, I feel that I will be at a disadvantage in the job marketplace. I am leaning towards law school though. On a side note, I have straight A's this semester. I'm thinking that I made a bad decision to come here. I really love the people and feel at home here but I looked at Cornell's incoming class stats and I think I had a small shot at getting in there if I had just applied. Or at least a better school than the one I'm at. Even if I couldn't have gotten into an Ivy League school, my friends who had about equal scores and extracurriculars as me got into Villanova and Lehigh which are much more respectable schools. I feel that I settled for this school and I could have gone somewhere more prestigious where I would have been able to go farther in life. Due to all of this, I thought of transferring. However, to transfer to a good school is harder than just enrolling there in the first place. Apparently, you have to have like a 4.0 to transfer into many of these schools and even then you aren't guaranteed. Also, if I transferred to another school, it'll be hard for me socially because everyone will already be in their cliques by sophomore year. Is the following a plausible scenario? I quit this school, apply as a freshman to a better school, work for the rest of the year and then start off new at another school in the fall? Do schools even allow you to do this? Is it a bad idea? What would you do in this situation? Should I just try really hard here at TCNJ, get good grades and get into a top Grad, Law or Med school? I feel that I would have to work harder at TCNJ to get into a good Grad than I would if I had gone to a better institution because TCNJ has no name recognition. Also, what if I choose to just do undergrad? Then, for the rest of my life, it will be harder to get jobs because I will just have a mediocre undergrad on my record. Please tell me where I am wrong with this. I really would like to know what I should do in this situation. Thank you.I have a lot of financial aid. I would have to pay for the Fall semester if I withdrawed but I wouldn't have to pay for the Spring semester because the deadline is some time from now. Is it still plausible to quit and then reapply to schools? moreResolved Question: Can you Believe that harry Reid - Maybe it's about time to have another look at him?
Aug. 30, 2009 Copyright © Las Vegas Review-Journal Enough is Enough, Harry - Stop the Childish Bullying SHERMAN FREDERICK This newspaper traces its roots to before Las Vegas was Las Vegas. We've seen cattle ranches give way to railroads. We chronicled the construction of Hoover Dam. We reported on the first day of legalized gambling. The first hospital. The first school. The first church. We survived the mob, Howard Hughes, the Great Depression, several recessions, two world wars, dozens of news competitors and any number of two-bit politicians who couldn't stand scrutiny, much less criticism. We're still here doing what we do for the people of Las Vegas and Nevada. So, let me assure you, if we weathered all of that, we can damn sure outlast the bully threats of Sen. Harry Reid. On Wednesday, before he addressed a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Reid joined the chamber's board members for a meet-'n'-greet and a photo. One of the last in line was the Review-Journal's director of advertising, Bob Brown, a hard-working Nevadan who toils every day on behalf of advertisers. He has nothing to do with news coverage or the opinion pages of the Review-Journal. Yet, as Bob shook hands with our senior U.S. senator in what should have been nothing but a gracious business setting, Reid said: "I hope you go out of business." Later, in his public speech, Reid said he wanted to let everyone know that he wants the Review-Journal to continue selling advertising because the Las Vegas Sun is delivered inside the Review-Journal. Such behavior cannot go unchallenged. You could call Reid's remark ugly and be right. It certainly was boorish. Asinine? That goes without saying. But to fully capture the magnitude of Reid's remark (and to stop him from doing the same thing to others) it must be called what it was -- a full-on threat perpetrated by a bully who has forgotten that he was elected to office to protect Nevadans, not sound like he's shaking them down. No citizen should expect this kind of behavior from a U.S. senator. It is certainly not becoming of a man who is the majority leader in the U.S. Senate. And it absolutely is not what anyone would expect from a man who now asks Nevadans to send him back to the Senate for a fifth term. If he thinks he can push the state's largest newspaper around by exacting some kind of economic punishment in retaliation for not seeing eye to eye with him on matters of politics, I can only imagine how he pressures businesses and individuals who don't have the wherewithal of the Review-Journal. For the sake of all who live and work in Nevada, we can't let this bully behavior pass without calling out Sen. Reid. If he'll try it with the Review-Journal, you can bet that he's tried it with others. So today, we serve notice on Sen. Reid that this creepy tactic will not be tolerated. We won't allow you to bully us. And if you try it with anyone else, count on going through us first. That's a promise, not a threat. And it's a promise to our readers, not to you, Sen. Reid. Sherman Frederick (sfrederick@reviewjournal.com) is publisher of the Review-Journal and president of Stephens Media. http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/56171937.html moreResolved Question: Whatever happened to common sense?
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, common sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, as his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair, and maybe it was my fault. common sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. common sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. He declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Paracetamol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. He began to lose the will to live as churches became businesses; creationism vied for equal footing with proper science, alternative treatments became available on the National Health Service (while cancer drugs were banned) and criminals received better treatment than their victims. The poor bloke took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault. He finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Barely recovering from that he was bludgeoned to death by the news that the world's financial markets had been demolished by irresponsible bankers who made a fortune doing so and who the governments bailed out by demanding money from those wise enough to have adopted sensible fiscal policies. This grand old man was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion, his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by four stepbrothers; "I Know My Rights," "Someone Else's Problem," "I’m A Victim" and "Work? I'm better off on Welfare," and his stepsisters; "Gymslip Mother" and "I'll have a baby and they'll give me a house." What do you think of the Political upheaval this incident caused? I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Washington. I am majoring in Business Admin and would like to pursue a joint degree of JD/MBA for graduate. I did my research on the US News & World Reports' top ranking schools in both Business & Law (I know I have to get accepted into both business & law to pursue JD/MBA) but because I've never been to those schools, I don't really know. I am an international student who currently study in michigan state university. I transfered from the university that is in my home town to michigan state university a year ago, and 34 credits have been transfered to michigan state. Now, after one year of study in michigan state, i get a 3.92 Gpa. I am considering whether it is wise for me to transfer again or not. I have a couple of concerns, and i really appreciate if you can give me some suggestion. I want to major in business, and the business college of michigan state rank #23 in the U.S. So, michigan state has a pretty good business college, and some programme like supply chain management, and accounting has a really high ranking in the us news and world report. Do you think it is wise for me to transfer again to some prestigious university like UC berkeley or UCLA? Some of my friends told me that my undergraduate degree doesn't matter unless i am able to transfer to IVY LEaGUE schools. Graduating from UCLA has no difference from graduating from michigan state university especially michigan state university has a couple of very good business programme. Second, i want to look for a job after graduation, and i currently major in logistics, and i am more interested in finance. Do you think i can get a better job easily by graduating from ucla or uc berkeley instead of michigan state? the third is that as an international student, english is not my first language, though i am a smart student.business curriculum in UC berkeley is much harder than the business curriculum in michigan state? Because competing with a lot of talent whose first language is english is a big challenge for me. Can you please give me some suggestion about the difference in course difficulty between michigan state and ucla or uc berkely? Do you think i can graduate from UC Berkely or UCLA with a good grade if i can gain admission to those universities. What can a prestigious university give me that an ordinary university can't? IS it woth for me to transfer again? Because the 34 credits that are transfer from the university in my home town might be wasted if i choose to transfer. i would really appreciate if you can give me your precious suggestion.well, tank you for your suggestion. I've looked at the US News and World Report, but they only detail the universities with the best engineering and business programs. Based on the Princeton Review, Princeton is the 5th most politically active university and Harvard is 9th, but what I really want to know is how the programs compare to one another, not the activism of the student bodies. The schools that I'm considering are (in no particular order): Columbia University Harvard College Massachusetts Institute of Technology Princeton University Rice University Stanford University University of Florida University of Texas-Austin University of Virginia If you'd rank them for me, that would help me immensely. Obviously, I can't expect to get into all of these schools, but I'd like a good evaluation of each so that I can effectively weigh my choices when I get them. Thanks a bunch. :) moreResolved Question: kamal karna roy, a us presidential hopeful and demanding to be nominated gop presidential candidate:do u know?

Isn’t speech the very quality that a person has idependant of status and money? In the fusion of democracy and capitalism that currently defines American life, speech is the only freedom left that transcends class, but when you say that money is speech, then you disenfranchize all those without it – surely not an original intent. I'm currently a sophmore in high school and I am really interested in a career in accounting since I'm good with numbers and such. I am a really good student and in the top 5% of my class. I'm trying to get into the best college possible. Most college rankings such as US News& World Report rank the top colleges but none of them offer undergraduate programs in accounting or even business management. What is the best college that offers a program in accounting or businness management, etc. moreResolved Question: Is my college crappier than others, or is it "normal"?
I saved my whole life to go to college. I got into a second-tier school with good aid (at the bottom of the second-tier of US News and World Reports annual list, that is). My school feels like a glorified high school to me (though I never went to HS). The kids are dumb--I mean DUMB. Nobody talks, and on the rare occasion they do it's the most inane BS you can imagine. I can't believe these people are in their late teens/early 20's--they act like they're 12. The faculty memebers are not all-stars by any stretch--a roster of two-bit academics with minor publishing credits and no teaching chops to speak of. I've been "taught" by a number of adjuncts who frankly have no business in a class room. I'm entering my junior year, and I'm starting to think I've wasted a lot of money and time. I do enjoy the work, but I hate the people and find them all inept....I'm doing well, I'm on the dean's list, and my GPA is 3.82 out of 4 (that's pretty good, right?), but I feel like at this school anything less than perfect means mediocre. Like weh I get an A-minus in a course, I feel like it translates to a C at a real school. When I get an A, at least I can delude myself that it might have been an A anywhere. I feel like there's only 20 or 30 real school's in the world, and the rest of us go to BS institutions. I'm kind of bitter--I want to investigate the college expereince. Any books you can recommend to help me see exactly how lame the other hald of colleges are--how these school's sell the sizzle, and not the steak. I am currently applying to business schools and I would like to apply to at least one online program. However, since I run the risk of employers frowning on an online degree, I would like to be sure that the program is both high quality and prestigious (i.e. I'm not going to U. Phoenix). Unfortunately, I cannot find any organization that ranks online programs. Ideally, there is something out there similar to the US News and World Report rankings.
