China's Ping An speeds up pre-IPO business -paper
The move is part of Ping An's ambitious plan to speed up the development of its private equity business in the next three years, the Shanghai Securities News said, citing a source said to be aware of the situation.
Ping An, China's second-largest life insurer, plans to invest 100 billion yuan ($14.34 billion) in its private equity, infrastructure construction and property industries that could later issue initial public offers, the newspaper said, citing a company plan that has not yet been disclosed.
The newspaper report did not offer a breakdown to the investment, or other details elaborating on the development plan.
The South China Morning Post reported in April that Ping An had set up a 20 billion yuan private equity unit to invest in pre-initial public offering financing deals. more

Boston Properties expects to execute one or more joint ventures with financial partners, though it did not name the partners or terms of the prospective JV. Initial reports last week said Goldman Sachs, the Qatar Investment Authority and the Kuwait Investment Authority are part of a BXP-led consortium buying the portfolio. In announcing the deal, the Boston-based REIT said it expects to own up to about 49% of the venture or ventures and provide property management and leasing services. more
Off-Field Drama Heightens All-English Final
United, which had previously been publicly traded and financially sound, was suddenly carrying hundreds of millions of dollars in debt. While Glazer has managed to refinance some of the loans, he has let the total amount of debt the club owes climb, rising to approximately $1.5 billion in the latest financial reports.
Chelsea, in contrast was thought to be 100% debt-free. The timely takeover of the club by Abramovich, just after the end of the 2002-03 season, removed a sizeable debt from the club. Rather than having to sell players that summer, the club instead became a destination for talented and expensive soccer players from all over the world. The unlimited investment paid off in the second year of Abramovich's reign, as Chelsea won the first of two straight Premier League titles in the 2004-05 season, setting a record for points with 95 while also winning the League Cup. more
