National City: Business confidence declines

National City Corp. said Monday that its Business Confidence Index declined to an all-time low of 57.8 as respondents expressed concerns about the ramifications of Midwest flooding and the continued struggles of the U.S. automotive industry.

National City (NYSE: NCC) contacted business managers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and asked them two questions:

Would you describe the current economic outlook for your specific business/industry as very poor, poor, fair, good or very good; and Do you plan to reduce, maintain or increase the size of your work force in the coming 12 months?

Cover letter -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear -----, I am applying for the *** internship of your company. I understand that your firm is the leading export of Accounting in the United States. I am very interested in developing my skills in this field and would like to work for your company through a summer internship. I graduated Gyeonggi Buk Science High School which is one of special-purpose public school for students interested in science. I graduated and got accepted to KAIST which is highly competitive university. Even though I putted myself in the scientific field, I was always interested in business field and selected Industrial Engineering as my major. I have just finished my third semester, in the course of which I became deeply interested in Financial Management. I’ve done research about CPAs and I decided to be an accountant. I am preparing for CPA exam and I have very high arithmetic skill and have an analytical & systematic way of thinking. I am also multi-cultural and can easily adapt with people from different culture. I have been stuck to academic environment for a long time and I am very excited to taste the professionalism in real life. I am willing to work hard and work as a team in any environment. I will be leaving for LA next week and would be ready for an interview. I will respond promptly with any additional materials you may need and would welcome the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications. Please feel free to contact me through email at annietabio@yahoo.com Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Annie Han Okay. I have never done this kind of thing and this is my very first resume & cover letter. If you want to rephrase any grammer error, misplacement or awkward sentence, you are more than welcome! But most importantly, since I leave next week, I can't send this to America. It would take weeks. Anyway I got the Big4's E-mail and career website. But, don't I need to send them a high school diploma or the evidence that I am attending college? Also, typical cover letter includes signature. So should I 'print->sign->scan->signed cover letter'? Thank you in advance. :) more

Voting Question: Should I attend Fordham University CBA or Boston University SMG?

OK...so here's the deal. I've been accepted to both Fordham University's College of Business Administration and Boston University's School of Management. I've done extensive research about both universities, and found that it basically boils down to this: - I've visited both campuses, and like BU's better because of its urban feel. At Fordham I can only stay at the Rose Hill Campus in the Bronx because that's where the CBA is. - Fordham is ranked slightly higher according to Businessweek (It is 27th, as opposed to Boston University's place at 42nd) - BU seems to have a more diverse population. Maybe due to the fact that it is a Jesuit institution, Fordham seems to attract a very similar pool of students. - As of last year, graduates from BU's median salaries slightly were lower than those of Fordham's. - Fordham's strengths seem to lie in its Finance and Accounting divisions...I'm not sure if that's what I want to do. I don't really know how strong other business majors are there. They may be really strong too...I just don't know it. BU also has strong Finance and Accounting divisions, but is also strong in Management. - According to Businessweek, BU has a grade of "C" in Job Placement of Students, whereas Fordham has a "B". These grades reflect job placement during the recession of last year though. _________________________________________ I think I would like the environment of BU better, but I worry about whether its lower rankings will hinder me in my future job hunt/salary potential. The statistics I posted are just averages, every individual person's situation is probably different..so I dont know if I should base my whole college decision on them. I mean...who's to say that BU couldn't overtake Fordham in the rankings in a year? But, the fact of the matter is...as of now, Fordham seems to be the higher ranked choice. Howeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO GO TO!! I'M SO CONFUSED! I NEED SOME OBJECTIVE ADVICE PLEASEEEEEEEEE! more

Resolved Question: U. of Maryland, College Park or Penn State- University Park?

I applied for Economics for both schools. I think I will probably enroll in official business programs like accounting and management later when I'm ready. I am also aware that both schools are excellent and obtain top rankings and their business department are no exemption. So are they considered public ivies? Which school has a better financial and historic reputation, since I'm an out-state for both? How about the job opportunities in the surrounding areas? Which school is more challenging to get into with their rankings? And their faculties? Thanx! more

Resolved Question: What university in Texas would you recommend?

My family is moving to Texas and I am currently a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I'm about to be a sophomore, double majoring in accounting and financing. My GPA is a 3.69 right now. I'll start school in Texas my junior year. I've looked at different rankings on the schools in Texas and the ones highest ranked for business seem to be UT-Austin, Texas A&M, UT-Dallas, and other private schools. I would rather go to a public school and save some money for my family. Which school would you recommend? I'm leaning towards UT-Dallas because it's near lots of businesses in Dallas and might open doors beacause of that. Thank you for the help!! (: more

Resolved Question: Choosing a college/university?

Is northeastern a good business school? I noticed it dropped 8 places this year in business week's rankings. I am also thinking of applying to Bentley but the student body doesn't seem that diverse. I also hate the fact that they want you to take 50% LA classes and 50% business classes. So I don't really think it's a fit for me but I'm having trouble deciding on what schools to apply. My plans at the moment are to major in accounting or finance and try and land a job at one of the Big 4 accounting firms or if I major in finance get a job as an analyst. I also want to go to grad school once I can apply. My gpa is a 3.57 and after this semester I'm hoping to get it up around a 3.7. I'm involved in the economics club at my school and we won the fed challenge this year for community colleges. What business schools do I have a shot at getting into? I am also leaning more towards a college located in a major city if it helps any.My family doesn't have much money either. What schools are the best at giving out grants and scholarships? I don't mind paying some of the schooling with loans. But I honestly don't feel I should be in debt 50k+ dollars because I work hard at my studies and we don't have much money. more
