iLike announces new tools to help in the marketing of concert tickets

Partovi spoke with TicketNews about the advancements with his company and how these new features could change the marketing of concert tickets.

"[Advertisement in] the concert industry is concentrated on radio and print," he told TicketNews. "A lot of stations are dropping and the radio audience is shrinking."

The ad platform offered by iLike will allow for promoters to better assess the audience they are looking for by using the sites information about the musical tastes of it's more than 30 million registered users. The information will not only target fans by what music they're into, but also their location. Partovi points out that using iLike's new ad platform will save time for promoters, by using auto-generated ads that automatically gather concert data.

Once clicked, music fans that are reached using the ad service will be brought to Ticketmaster, a partner of iLike, in order to purchase tickets to the event. more

Honeywell lands fuel tank contract

Lefar, who takes over immediately, was previously the head of marketing for Cingular Wireless. Citron, 37, will remain chairman, Vonage said Tuesday in a statement.

Lefar, 44, will lead a company that has never reported a profit. He said he'll focus his first 60 days on improving customer service and speaking with subscribers.

The company will also seek to boost the effectiveness of its marketing and curb customer turnover, he said.

Merriam named "small business champion" by trade association

The president of a Schenectady insurance firm has been named the state's 2008 "small business champion" by the National Federation of Independent Business.

The honor for Brian Merriam, president of the 113-year-old Merriam Insurance Agency, was announced July 28. The business lobby group gives the award each year.

Merriam is the fourth generation to run his family's insurance business, which has a staff of about 20 people. He is also the former chairman of Center City Sportsplex, a multi-use facility in downtown Schenectady.

Mike Elmendorf, president of NFIB's New York chapter, called Merriam "loyal, tireless and reliable."

"Despite his considerable obligations running his own business, he continuously makes himself available to join our battles in Albany," Elmendorf said in a statement. more

Idea AG withdraws its marketing authorisation application for

The application for the marketing authorisation for Diractin was submitted to the EMEA on 23 May 2007. At the time of the withdrawal, it was under review by the Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP).

In its official letter, the company stated that the withdrawal of the application was based on the grounds that the efficacy of the medicine at the proposed dose has not been sufficiently demonstrated and that this concern has been identified as a major clinical issue.

More information about Diractin and the state of the scientific assessment at the time of withdrawal will be made available in a question-and-answer document. This document, together with the withdrawal letter from the company, will be published on the EMEA website in due course. more
