Sprott Inc. amends and restates business acquisition report
Sprott's business acquisition report was amended and restated due to adjustments to retained earnings of SAM that relate to accruals for employer health taxes ("EHT") associated with SAM's bonus expenses in 2006 and 2007. Such EHT were originally recorded at the time the bonuses were paid rather than when the bonus expense was accrued. In the second quarter of 2008, a determination was made that the accrual and related expense should be recorded in the period the bonus is accrued.
The adjustment resulted in the following changes to amounts originally reported in SAM's unaudited interim consolidated financial statements for the three months ended March 31, 2008 which were disclosed in Sprott's business acquisition report dated June 27, 2008 as amended on July 18, 2008: a) a decrease of $2.3 million to compensation and benefits expense for the three months ended March 31, 2008 and March 31, 2007; b) a related increase in provision for income taxes of $0.8 million for the three months ended March 31, 2008 and March 31, 2007; c) an increase of $2.3 million in compensation payable and a decrease of $0.8 million in income taxes payable as at December 31, 2007 and December 31, 2006 and a related decrease to retained earnings as at December 31, 2006 and December 31, 2007 in the amount of $1.5 million. more
HK, Australia ink deal on marketing of retail funds
(Infocast News) The SFC signed a "declaration of mutual recognition" today with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) to faciliate the sale of retail funds to investors in each other's market. The declaration seeks to reduce regulatory duplication by allowing most funds registered in Australia for offer to retail investors in Hong Kong while making available to Australian investors similar funds authorised in Hong Kong. SFC Chairman Eddy Fong said: "As the first such agreement that the SFC reached with an overseas securities regulator, this declaration shall reinforce Hong Kong's status as an international fund offering venue. But more importantly, it highlights the growing importance of the relationship between Hong Kong and Australia in terms of the similarity in regulatory regime and the nature of our retail markets." . more

Thus, American officials and private citizens who participate are lawbreaking criminals. U.S. and foreign government officials who attend are virtually all traitors because they put their world government goal ahead of the interests of their own nations. They scorn “nationalism” and work for “transnationalism.” All Bilderberg “regulars” must support these goals or be ostracized. More than 100 of the 120 or so attendees are “regulars,” invited every year. Typically, five or so participants are first-timers. A potential president is likely to be invited once but tossed aside when his political star dims, as former Vice President Dan Quayle can attest. But you have to support Bilderberg’s global agenda to survive. Infrequently, one refuses and is drummed out. Searchweb search Ask Answer Discover Search for questions: Advanced Search My Profile Home > Answer a Question 2 Preview your answer No Country Question How come muslims are very bad at sports? Hello, in my world culture unit in school we are doing a project on how each race has unique talents which make them a valuable demographic to a larger unified world. I chose to convey this doctrine by showing a variety of different ethnic groups with specific examples and what they excel at. So far my project incorporates Michael Phelps(Caucasian-USA) as the best swimmer and proven greatest athlete of the world of all time, Hussein Bolt(n^e^g^r^o-Jamaica) as the up and coming short distance superstar and arguably the second greatest athlete of all time, Yao Ming(Han Chinese-China) as one of the most dynamic modern basketball players in the National Basketball Association, George St. Pierre(Caucasian-Canada) and Anderson Silva(n^e^g^r^o-Brazil) as the single two greatest mixed martial artists to grace the sport (I'm not talking about theatrical spectacle such as Jacky Chan or Bruce Lee, rather actual proficiency in the sport of MMA), Mark Spitz(Caucney Jew-USA) as the second greatest swimmer of all time after Michael Phelps, and a plethora of less notable examples from a variety of different ethnicities. What I have noticed is that Muslim people haven't achieved anything at all in the realm of sports, and I am trying to understand the reasoning behind this. I know ultra orthodox muslims do not partake in a lot of sports because it conflicts with their extremist beliefs, especially the women who can't really wear any sort of athletic uniform without being beaten in the streets by their "owners". But I go to school with a lot of Muslims, and they really aren't good at anything pertaining to athletics; I am on the wrestling team there are a few muslim kids in my weight class and a few in heavier weight classes, and I have never had trouble plowing through them. I don't intend for this to sound hateful or vulgar, rather I'm pursuing an explanation as to why muslims suck at sports. Also I was hoping that Muhammad Ali was muslim so I could use him as an example for my project, BUT ethnically he is n^e^g^r^o not arab, and as it turns out he is an agnostic, not muslim. So no Muhammad Ali is just another black guy who is great at his chosen sport. Edit: Yahoo answers is flawed and changed the word n^e^g^r^o to ******. N^e^g^r^o is the ethnic classification of my people, I don't understand why YA! would conflict with this. Please Chance me........Thank You! moreResolved Question: what are my chances of getting accepted into these colleges?
I worry about what schools i should apply for and i dont have a clue about where i stand, so i wanted to see what others think. I am currently a senior in high school. I have a GPA of 3.7 from scale of 4.0(weighted). That is about a 92.6 (weighted). I have taken AP US history and honors american literature during junior year. I am currently taking 3 AP classes (AP Spanish, AP English, and AP Calculus). I only have 70 hours of community service, which i consider horrible compared to many others. I am rank 8 in my class. I was in the national honors society last year. I have only participated in bowling, but had no awards and no leadership. I participated in track and cross country but i never finished them. I barely did any extracurriculars. I dont know if hobbies even matter because i do martial arts on my own because i learn from a personal trainer. I have breakdanced for a year, and i did hip hop dancing for half a year. These hobbies were all done on my own without attending any schools because i had people to teach me. My SAT scores are: 490cr 590math and 550writing and it was my second time taking it. I havent ever worked at all so i have no working experience. I was also a transfer student from another school where the grading system was in letters, so my GPA might not be what it actually is due to the inability to change the letters to numbers. I had A's and a few B's when I was in my previous school. I have been handcuffed once in middle school, but i do not know if it was considered an arrest because the lady at court told me she did not know. I was found guilty of shoplifting because the lady told me that if i admitted to being guilty, the file would be kept as a secret, and no one would have access to it. I have also been suspended in my sophomore year for cursing but it was an in-school suspension so i dont know if it was actually considered a suspension. I transfered after sophomore year and i entered my present school during junior year. I think that i barely have any chance in any of these colleges. Can someone tell me where i stand as a candidate? I dont know if it helps but i am asian american and of chinese descent. 1. UPenn (Wharton) 2. New York University (Stern) 3. Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper) 4. Cornell University (Johnson) 5. Boston College These schools are probably out of my reach, so i dont know if i should even apply to these schools. I really want to attend these colleges, so is there anything i can do as of now to make myself stand out? If not and they are out of my reach, can anyone tell me what other schools or universities offer good undergraduate business programs because i am deciding on majoring in business. I do not just want what is good, but what my best possible chances are. It would be nice if anyone can answer quickly because a lot of applications are going to be due soon so i have to get going. Thank you.I also wanna add: University of Virginia (McIntire) and Pennsylvania State University (Smeal) I might consider the following... Univ. of Maryland College Park (Smith), Boston University, Georgetown University (McDonough), University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University (Whitman). moreResolved Question: Will i get into columbia?
Hi, firstly thanks for reading this! - I was a little disheartened with my SAT 1 results ... as i am not very good at english. I am strong with business/economics subjects that are unfortunately not examined by SAT 2s. I am hoping to come across as a all rounder. Any advice is helpful. I am applying Early Restrictive to Columbia Undergrad. And I am a migrant from China who have been living in Australia for 9 years. I am currently 18. I feel totally insecure. I am better ranked in Australia as a result of my choice to do subjects such as business and economics which contribute significantly to my gpa etc. However, the SAT limits this and makes me look like I am a academically weak applicant. Any comments would be helpful. Much appreciated!! Thank you. moreResolved Question: Need an opinion about college school?
so im in a dilemma. ive been fortunate enough to been accepted to 3 schools for GRADUATE studies: University of Southern California for Elec Engr University of California, Irvine for Elec Engr University of Pennsylvania for Systems Engr I am from california and i went to UCI for my undergraduate studies in EE. now i am figuring out what I should do for grad school. I made a list of key features whether good or bad UCI: -Cheap, ~20k for the program -I know the faculty and some students. Easier to make friends and i know the school. -I can commute from home to save money. USC: - Better name than UCI. Nationally known (partially to its football). Best engineering rank. - Can possibly commute or take train. But nonetheless its 40 miles from home so i know the area alright and i have a car. - Expensive, 100k for the program UPenn: - Probably more worldwide known than the other two being an Ivy league. - Expensive, 100k - Far from home. Don't know about weather, living habits, etc. -Major is systems engr. Curriculum is 1/2 business which is REALLY what I like. Some will be taken at Wharton. So I have talked to many professionals and most tell me that I should go to either UCI or USC. They said that if I want to work in California after, which I do, I should stay in California since UPenn's network is mostly east coast. on top of that USC and UCI would be economically cheaper in terms of having a car and knowing the area. on top of that i have a current internship i can keep. they said work experience is the most important thing looking for jobs. so its logical to stay in california. BUT heres the dilemma. i want to eventually do an MBA and go on doing business or sales. maybe even entrepreneurship. If I go to UPenn, I am simply buying their brand name. Will it help in admissions to a MBA program saying I've taken classes at a top tier business school like Wharton? Also, say in business or sales, does it help to have come from a well known name? I am looking for a long term return on investment. Any comments/opinions welcome. For your reference: USC National Rank ~ 25s, Engr Rank #7 UCI National Rank ~ 40s, Engr Rank ~40s UPenn National Rank #4, Engr Rank ~30s moreResolved Question: Chances at Johns Hopkins BME (ED)?

I really want to go to a top school and would like to know my chances at each of the ivies on a scale of 1-10 but i filled the misc section mostly with respect towards the wharton school of business at Upenn. Im a senior that recently moved and am thus having a hard time figuring out my stats at my new school, but the following is a list of where i stood at my old school and the two should be fairly similar: I have a high school GPA of 4.2 weighted, 3.92 unweighted My class rank is 14 out of 345 ACT composite=32 SAT superscored composite=2130 SAT Math1=690 SAT Literature=700 SAT US History=700 I was commended as a national merit scholar for the PSAT and am a National Hispanic Scholar. During my junior year i could take 3 APs and i only took two. I got a 3 on the US History and a 5 on the English Language. This year I'm taking 3 APs and Spanish IV. I volunteered 135 hours for a local Congressman and was then hired by him as a field representative. My officer positions include: Olympus club class representative 10th grade, Olympus club treasurer 11th grade, FBLA vice president 11th grade, after moving i started a new chapter and was FBLA president and founder in 12th grade, DECA vice president 11th grade. The activities i was involved with include: AcDec, quiz bowl, FBLA, DECA, NHS, History Day, Model UN, Olympus, Stock Market Game, National Finance Challenge (3rd in state for 2 years), and National Economics Challenge (3rd in state for 2 years, 1st in state 1 year which put me at 35th in the nation), and young Republicans. Misc: I've visited Penn 3 times and sat in on an econ course at wharton, am from a state that sends under 10 kids a year to Penn, and took math courses over the summer so I could take AP AB calc before graduation specifically because wharton wants kids to have calc, and I have a fairly well known alumn writing me a rec letter. I plan on applying to Wharton ED. Please rate my chances on a scale of 1-10. My unweighted GPA is a 3.8 (very bad freshmen year but near 4.0 sophomore year and 4.0 junior year/only lost gpa points on foreign language) at a top 100 school in the country that doesn't rank. Taking 5 aps all the hard ones bc calc ap physics etc (will have 10 by end of high school). My guess is top 10% but Dartmouth has no way of verifying. My SAT is a 2230 (730 reading, 720M (big screw up), and 780 writing). My SAT 2s are good enough in my opinion and I have national merit 98th percentile psat and National Scholar with distinction (5 aps with average of 3.5 or better) and am in NHS. I attended the prestigious Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics Program (HCSSiM) in the past and received a good but critical letter of recommendation. Also started my own business club and have 40 plus members and many leadership positions. I am a korean (asian). I'm hoping to apply to uPenn Wharton next year (and possibly the Huntsman program with the duel degree in business and international studies) for ED. If i chose to apply to Huntsman, I would certainly also apply to Wharton without the particular program. With the following, is it worth my time and money to apply or would it be a waste? Academics: GPA: 5.37 (under my school's weighted system, the max is 5.65) - This translates to a 4.0 otherwise. I have the most rigorous courseload my school offers and take all Honors in every subject for which it is offered. Summer between Junior and Senior Year: 3 weeks at Brown University Pre-College, Classes in Business and Finance I plan to put a lot into my essays and really convey my character. I am heavily interested in politics, international affairs and business. I spend every free moment I have reading international news and business news. That's why i'm so interested in possibly the Hunstman program. I wish I could have done more in my ECs to show this, like volunteering abroad, international travel programs, internationally focused summer programs, a foreign exchange, but monetary concerns made all these impossible for my family. I will have my recommendation from one of my favorite teachers and the best in the school. She was my English teacher as a Sophomore and will be my AP english teacher this year. She has received several awards and chairs the teacher certification committee for the state. I have learned the most from her and she has really taught me to be a critical thinker and to develop my higher level thinking skills. I know she will write me an excellent letter of recommendation. So… do I have any chance whatsoever? I know I'm competing against people way more qualified than me, who went to the most elite private schools, have like 10 AP's and 2350 SAT scores, have spent summers building schools in developing countries and are national debate, Model UN, FBLA, etc champions. The number 1 rank is held alone and has not fluctuated at all.
