Business, HIV link

Private business needs to take more responsibility for the country's children, especially those affected by malnutrition and HIV and Aids. This is according to a children's rights group that on Wednesday took part in a discussion held by the South African Business Coalition on HIV and Aids on how business impacts on the lives of children and what they can do to improve children's lives. Cati Vawdi, of the Children's Rights Centre, said businesses do not see a link between children and the private sector, and with children's rights groups having to go to them to beg for money all the time, fatigue had started to set in. . more

Raising funds for a fast-growing business

Fortune Small Business contributor Dear Dan: Sometimes a business can grow so quickly, its owners forget they're no longer running a startup. Jeff Henningsen, president of ACG Houston, an organization for professionals involved in corporate growth, says your company is on the verge of entering a new arena - so it's time to play big.

“In order to grow the next level, you can't do things the same way you did before," he says. Henningsen advises you to hire an investment banker, who can help you raise capital and guide you through sales and acquisitions. “A banker will expose your company to the world of private equity in a way that no owner can," he says. “It will also allow you to remain focused on growing your business."

End of load shedding for Jo’burg — City Power

THE City of Johannesburg assured residents and businesses yesterday that load shedding was a thing of the past — even if Eskom requested a cut in supply — as City Power had enough additional electricity .

City Power MD Silas Zimu and councillor Roslynn Greeff said the municipality’s mitigation programme had been successful in producing more than 500MW of additional power. “Even if Eskom asked us to load shed, we won’t as the City of Johannesburg,” Greeff said.

Mayor Amos Masondo said the council would approve Eskom’s additional electricity tariff of 20,6% on Thursday, and it would be implemented next Friday. “This increase is a direct result of the National Energy Regulator of SA’s decision to allow Eskom to levy an additional increase of 13,3% on its customers on the already approved 14,2% increase,” he said . more

Bachelor Business Degree In Online Questions asked

Open Question: For all you active or retired navy soldiers: is the navy right for me?

Okay, so Im interested in joining the US Navy and I was wondering if some of the answers to the questions I asked my recruiter were accurately rendered. So to all you people who are currently enlisted in the navy or have been I'd appreciate what your experience has shown you to be true concerning the matters I'm about to cover. Based on my personal characteristics and goals, do you believe joining the navy would be in my best interest? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. So to start, here is a little background on me. I am 23 years old trying to get my bachelors degree in business administration, more specifically a focus in entreprenuership or small business management. I have about 2.5 years left before I graduate and I wish to complete my bachelors degree debt free, taking 15 credit hours per semester untill I finish and then hopeful move on to an MBA program. Now, from what my recruiter tells me, the most amount of time I would expect to be out to sea is about 6 months - during my entire 4 year naval career - depending on what job I qualify for. What concerns me is whether or not I will have the time to complete a degree in the time I am with the navy. Since, from what I understand, when on shore I will be working 8 hour days, when off shore, fitting in school once traveling can be difficult to do. How accurate is my understanding of the dailey time committment? In otherwords will I be out to sea on only one rotation, or can the navy basically ship me out whenever they want and where ever they want, for how ever long they want without a moments notice? I personally dont want to take all of my classes online and wish to take my core classes at an accredited land based university that I would be required to physically attend... Plus I dont want to exit the navy after my four year term with no college degree because I was out to sea most of the time... My recruiter explained it to me as I would be be working mostly 9am-5pm, monday-friday leaving my evenings open for school and weekends... Also would I only be expected to actively serve 4 years, of an 8 year contract. How true is what he explained to me? As I mentioned earlier, finishing my degree is of most importance to me. I like the fact that I wouldn't have to worry about the financial aspects of school while in the navy, but I want to be sure I wont have a hard time of prioritizing my degree because of factors outside my own control, like being shipped off to bumb fucking egypt for 12 months, or having to work crazy hours and so forth. Keep in mind if I stayed in the civilian sector taking 15 credit hours per semester I could have a degree in 2.5 years, but most likely with debt :(. So what should I do? Join or not? Will I be able to complete a degree and be fully fuctional in my roll with the navy? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Was Manny Villar ever really poor?

Was Manny Villar really ever poor? AS I WRECK THIS CHAIR By William M. Esposo (The Philippine Star) Updated February 07, 2010 12:00 AM “Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura? (Have you bathed in a sea of garbage?)” is the opening line of the jingle of Nacionalista Party presidential candidate Manny Villar which is featured in a television commercial that attempts to project him as having been one of the poorest of the poor. But was Manny Villar really one of the poorest of the poor as what his advertising has been projecting? A Chair Wrecker reader from Tondo who claimed to know the Villar family when they still resided there debunked that notion of Villar ever having been poor. This information was relayed to yours truly via our response email address. The former Villar family Tondo neighbor cited reference points to support his assertion that Manny Villar was never really poor — including the claim that Villar’s father used to have a “nikaladong (stainless steel clad)” private Jeep. During the 1950s, a nikaladong private Jeep is a status symbol in Tondo, definitely not the hallmark of a poor household. Considering how Manny Villar has been dodging the serious issues pertaining to his use of public office in order to add immense benefits and profits to his businesses, your Chair Wrecker decided to do some investigating. Guess what Manny Villar’s online bio revealed: “Manuel Villar Jr. was born on December 13, 1949 in Tondo, a densely populated district of Manila. He was the second of nine children of Manuel Villar Sr., a government employee, and Curita Bamba, a seafood dealer. As a young boy, he helped his mother sell fish, crabs, and shrimp in Divisoria to help earn money to pay for his education. Villar finished his education at Holy Child Catholic School in 1962, and finished his high school education at Mapua Institute of Technology in 1966. He attended the University of the Philippines-Diliman and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1970. He returned to the same school to earn his master’s degree in business administration in 1973.” In the early 1950s, the rich lived in the big compounds in Ermita and Pasay and what was called New Manila in Quezon City. In Tondo, you found the middle class and the poor as well. Former president Joseph Estrada also claims roots in Tondo but his family was never poor. Based on his online bio, Villar cannot really justify calling himself poor. The Villar Tondo home, as shown on his 2009 TV commercials, was made of sturdy materials. It has lasted to this day. His father was employed while his mother operated a fish, crab and shrimp dealership in lucrative Divisoria Market. It may not be Class AB household income but it is definitely not Class E. Proof that the Villar children were never really wanting is the fact that Manny Villar studied in private schools. The indigent kids went to public school. Enrolling one’s child in a private school is a middle class value and option. The indigent kids who do manage to finish high school would tend to immediately learn a craft in order to be able to earn money right away. Aspiring for a business administration master’s degree is not the usual post high school move of indigent kids. Villar narrated on his 2009 TV commercial, with Boy Abunda interviewing him, that as a young kid he thought that corned beef was soupy because that was how they used to prepare it at home. This, he claimed, was their way to ensure that everybody had a share. But the fact is that there are really two ways to cook canned corned beef. One is the dry sautéed type while the other is the soupy type where you can add potatoes and cabbage. Both the rich and the middle class enjoy corned beef both ways. Also, poor folks, especially a family of eleven, CANNOT AFFORD to eat canned corned beef. For a family of 11 to be eating corned beef confirms that the Villar family is anything but poor. That was the case then and more so now when the poor go hungry or manage to eat only one meal a day. Up to the 1980s, people from the provinces consider it a status symbol to be eating corned beef. That is why canned foodstuffs, especially corned beef, are being displayed in the sala by many households in the provinces for these to be seen by visitors. For Manny Villar to don this facade of being “poor” once upon a time just to gain political advantage should make every Filipino voter ponder as to what else he would be willing to do just to attain his objective. Wisdom from a cherished honest man Tomorrow, our family will mark the death anniversaries of our Dad and Mom who both died on the same date, four years apart. Mom passed away on February 8, 1966 while Dad passed away on February 8, 1970. Our Dad was the most honest person we knew. During the era of President Elpidio Quirino, a close friend and former classmate of Dad, an opportunity was given to Dad to make a cool P200,000 — a fortune th more

Voting Question: I am graduating college in may... should i go to graduate school? would it make me more likely to get a job?

i am getting my bachelor's degree in psychology and hope to go into the business world. i have read online that liberal arts majors aren't a disadvantage, and that actually many employers prefer them, as they have better problem solving and writing skills. i am trying really hard to decide if i should immediately go to grad school instead of immediately looking for a job. i know that if i don't go now, i probably won't ever (my parents would pay if i go now), but i am just sooooo burned out on school and don't know if i could handle another 2 years. honestly, how much more employable would having a MBA make me? would it be worth it, really?what can i do to make myself more marketable if i do not go to grad school? i am good with computers and my resume is very well padded, but i do not have much work experience, nor have i had an internship, because the psychology department hasn't exactly helped me with that. more

Resolved Question: How can I get my son to talk to us again?

My son is deaf and 27 years old. He has two bachelor degrees, major in business and anthropology with minor in history and art. After he got a degree in anthropology and minor in history, he tried to find a job in that field, but he hasn’t been able to find anything. So he went back to school to get another degree in business and minor in art. Ever since he graduated nearly a year ago, he hasn’t been happy with any thing he found. He complained bitterly about how no one wanted to hire him because he cannot talk with clients or answer phone and that the only thing he could really do is being a low level manager at retails. He loathe working in retail so much that he’s basically working with deaf kids with emotional disturb problems and making only $14 a hour. I thought he’d just wait until the economy recover before trying to find a better job. To my shock, I found out from a couple family members that my son have been asking them a lot of questions about the highest level of math class they have took. This is downright bizarre to me since he hate math so much that he do everything to avoid math and barely pass the math classes to graduate. After some talking, I found out my son have been studying math intensely on his own everyday and wanted to get back in school to studies engineering. I tried to tell him that he cannot go into field just because they pay better. He has to do something he loves. He got mad and told me that he did this and it got him no where. I tried to explain him that the economy is bad and that once thing get better, he’ll have easier time. His reply was “I’m done with being at disadvantage” A couple of other family members have tried to talk to him about how engineering would be incredible hard for him. His reply was pretty much “if I can studies algebra and trigonometry good enough to get 90% or better on every test I found online then I can get good enough to get in engineering school by fall” Finally he deleted every family member from his facebook and isn’t talking to any of us. He ignores every text, email, and anything we sent to him. I’m getting really worried about him. I don’t understand why he wouldn’t listen to anyone and see that thing is hard for everyone? I’m planning on driving down to his place and have a face to face talk with him. I am just afraid that he is going to set a goal for himself that he cannot accomplish. I know he can accomplish almost anything, but math is something he has never been good at and struggles with his whole life. more

Voting Question: what online law schools in california accept students without a degree?

i`m a 39 yr old business owner planning to close my retail business in San Francisco (no real interest in that field anymore) and would like to take a JD. Resolved Question: Question about University Accreditation?

I found an online (distance) Bachelors Degree program in Music Business through a school called Full Sail in Winter Park, Florida. They are a "Career School" that specializes in Entertainment Majors. I have already earned my AA Degree from a local Community College here in California and I am interested in enrolling in this Music Business Bachelors Degree program at Full Sail. They are accredited through the "Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges" which is a national Commission. However, I am worried that businesses in California (where I will work) will not look too highly at this accreditation for my Bachelors degree. Should I be worried at all? Is this just as good as any accreditation or regional accreditation? Will I have a "REAL" Bachelors degree to be proud of? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Should i go on to school or work? Effects relationship?

I have a dilemma which effects me and my bf of 6.5 yrs for obvious reasons. I just graduated with my bachelor's degree in Sociology. Well, mistake, yes. It was the only thing I was interested in at the time and I did not know it was such a low-paying general field. I have always been business natured and all my jobs through college were business-related, so now I want to pursue my MBA. However, I have about 40K in student loan debt from my BA. And, I am having difficulty finding a job -- any job -- in my area. I have been applying for EVERYTHING from assistant manager at Toys R Us to Administrative Assistant. And I DO have experience and a Bachelor's. So I am wondering if I should just work only and pay down these large loan bills first or get into an MBA program now (which I would do in the evenings/online) and take on a little more student loan debt. This program through Western Gov University is really cheap for an MBA, it's $3,250 per term (6 months) and they said you can be done in 1-2 years depending on your own speed and what you can take on. So, it would cost between $6, 500 - $13K for an MBA. And I would have that much MORE student loan debt. But, I WOULD have a masters in business Admin which is usually asked for in well-paid positions........... Is this a bad idea??? I would also be working and getting experience. I am unsure of what to do! In YOUR opinion -- what would you do? And have you been in a similar situation?SORRY -- My age is 24...... I will be 25 in August 2010. THANKS!! more

Resolved Question: Getting a degree online?? VERY confused!!?

What are the best schools to look at? Cheapest? I'm interested in getting an associates degree and then a bachelor's degree in business administration. I don't know how much anything costs and it's all very confusing. I talk to one admissions guy who said it'll cost $415 per credit, is that a good deal?! Is it easy to be a full time online student and work full time also? He said I'd only have to log on 2-3 times a week. Can I transfer credits from a vocational school? Will getting a degree in business adminsitration help me find a good paying job or should i be looking in other areas? I'm mostly concerned about costs as I am currently paying off another student loan. I know all of these areas vary from school to school but i am just looking for general advice. What specific questions should I be asking admission representatives and how much should I expect to spend? I don't really know where to even begin and i'm quite scared. Any advice would be great!!!! more

Resolved Question: Looking for advice from women who had a baby at age 18-22...?

My husband and I have been married for about a year and a half. We are both 21. He has a pretty good job as a contracted graphic designer and owns a photography business and ad agency on the side with a really close friend of his. I help him out with business stuff when I can. We are going to begin looking for our first home closer to the summer, we are currently renting an apartment. I am a full time college student and taking online classes. I'm at a community college right now and only need about 9 more classes and then I can transfer over to the university here in town and finish off my bachelor degree (will take about 2 years and most classes should be able to be taken online). But my husband and I both want to have a baby and start our family so bad we can't stand it! :) I know a lot of people say you are to young or you should finish school first, but we still think we can do it. I'm not sure if maybe I'm just being naive and would like opinions of other people besides my parents haha. I have taken time off of school before, took the year off when we got married so that we could enjoy time together, so I know taking time off when the baby is born and then going back wouldn't be a problem. I want to finish school and it is a big enough priority that I feel I will get it done. I plan on taking online classes so that I can stay home with my child. And my husband is so helpful and always makes sure I'm getting my school work done so I know if I ever needed some quiet time he'd have no problem helping me out. We also have wonderfully supportive and helpful parents and grandparents who are there for us for everything and live very close to us. We want to be young parents, we don't want to wait till were thirty. But what do you think? more

Resolved Question: An opportunity for me to get a job in a factory just opened up for me, but I don't know what to do. Any advice?

First of all, sorry this is long but I really need some advice!! Please read this and help me... I graduated last year from a university and got a bachelor of economics degree. Given the economy during the time, I couldn't find a job so I went to a temp agency. I ended up working in a couple factories over the last 6 and a half months. I don't mind the work at all, because it's the people who make it worth getting up every day. During this time I ended up going back to college for an associates degree in health care business services. I'm doing it because I'm struggling with trying to find what I want to do with my life. I'm taking 3 classes this semester, and I figure once I'm done with these 3, I'll be able to tell if I want a job in this field or not. The classes are somewhat hard so far, I have to memorize medical codes and learn insurance principles. Recently a friend of mine wanted me to come to a martial arts class. So I went one day just to humor him. When I went, I spoke to the instructor and talked about my situation. He ended up offering for me to come to his factory for an interview and seeing if he could get me a full time job. I went today and it's looking like I'll get the job, and it would be full time. I am so surprised by how this is happening. My problem is, I don't know what to do. I'm 22 years old and I live with my parents, going to school part time, working part time. Either of the factories I've been sent to could eventually hire me, and I'd be perfectly fine with that. I was actually offered a job a few months ago at the first factory I was at but I couldn't at the time, because I was taking classes on campus. (I plan on taking them online from now on) If I get sent back to that factory, I could very well get hired there and that's actually what I want to happen. There's no guarantee it will. So my question is, should I take this job now and get to working full time right away? I would be doing basic production work but also working with a computer, which I haven't done at my other jobs. Or should I pass this job offer up and keep my life the way it is? I would have more time for school and I would eventually get hired somewhere, probably in the summer. I would work at the factory until I'm done with school, which is about 2 years if I stick with the program. Until summer, I would probably only be working 30 hours a week unless more temp jobs open up. What would be the best thing for me to do?I'm currently working in a cheese factory. more

Resolved Question: What are the requirements for admissions into an MBA program? =)?

I want to make sure I get as many of the qualifications done in time to apply for grad school. some facts: -undergrad junior with associate degrees -international relations major(BA)(2012) -communication major(BA)(2012)(likely to graduate with 3.5-3.7 for both) -freelance makeup artist -online business -community service (centered around international & youth issues) ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS: 1) i am a non business major and i would prefer to go directly into a program after i graduate. i heard that some schools require that you have work experience after bachelors? or does my time working at a bank during undergrad count? 2) for my major the highest i had to take was statistics, macro & micro economics. i am assuming i should take calculus before applying? any other class suggestions? 3) so i need a good gpa, gmat score & business experience for admissions? thank you for helping me out (in advance)! more

Resolved Question: EX-Wife Issues and the children are being used as allies!!!?

First I will say I have been divorced 6 and I have joint custody with 2 great children. Now I have a court order stating the do's and don't of both sides. Countless times she has broken this in ways like this: 1. When its my weekend to get the kids and she has plans she wont let them come to my house. 2. Many issues with letting the children come over my house and wont answer the phone. 3. Won't tell me about doctors Appointments or when they had injuries. 4. When I get behind on child support she wont let me see the children. 5. Yells and wont be relaxed enough to talk to me like a human being. The list goes on and on and so fourth like this of things she has done. The Divorce Decree states that she must do everything in this list and more also but not to get much deeper. The question I am wanting to ask I can take her back to court for breaking a court order and I know thins but how can I stop her from using the kids against me as now I haven't seen my kids in over a year in a half. We got into a fight as usual and she stopped answering my calls and such. What are my options about taking her to court? Can I push to change the decree? Also is it possible to get were the children stay with me? I have joint and so does my ex, the kids just live with her. Second I want to stop playing these childish games and all that its hurting is the kids and that really hurts me. How can I get this child being my ex to put the pain on her, meaning push her back to relize I mean business and she doesn't wanna screw with again? This woman has done nothing but put me in jail once and trying again for child support that even the judge and cop told me I had a enemy and they felt bad for me. I am taking care of child support now and bringing that rearage down and paid every month. This doesn't make me a bad guy and im sick of being put out like this. I am on bench probation for 5 years to pay it off and not only did the Child support agency suspend my DL because of payments to teach me a lesson but the felony is on my record!! I go to a job and get it, then back ground check and " were sorry we can't hire a felony". That is illegal an I know but they still do it. I just need some advise of how to handl all this situation, How do I turn it around in my favor were she's the one kissing my ass for one time and fearing that is she doesn't communicate then she will be pulled to court? Thanks all sorry for the mixed information and I hope you get the jist of what is going on and need advise. Did I also mention I got my HS diploma online and getting ready to graduate College and working on my Bachelors degree next? These are just somethings that I am doing to better my life and my children and just need some great advise on how to flip it around for a change. Thank You =) more

Resolved Question: What should I go back to school for? Currently have an Associates Degree...?

I'm 27, 2 kids and family man looking for financial freedom. I have my Associates Degree in Business Administration and am now trying to figure out if I should go back to school. I've been doing some research online trying to look at all types of career fields that could provide me with a good salary as well as something that I would enjoy doing. Sometimes it's hard to get both, but I'm hoping I can find an interesting career that will help me reach all my dreams and provide me with that financial security everyone hopes for. I'm a self starter, motivated, quick learning, hard working individual. For this reason, I always have dreamed of being self employed or being able to make great investments in order to exercise my mind and give me that chance to test my intelligence as I move my way up the ladder in life. What do you all recommend as a great career path??? I've worked as a supervisor for a healthcare company, supervising a department of 30, so I do have some management experience. I do like to make decisions and be the mentor in a group setting. I see myself being able to be trusted with a high level of responsibility. NOW, should I possibly be looking into a Bachelors in Finance, Management?? Is there a different area of study that I can focus on that will test my capabilities?? I am open to any ideas... Whether jobs that I can be hired for with the current education and job experience I have OR what field of study I should focus on to get my B.A.? Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: When can I start looking to start an internship?

I am finishing my bachelors degree through online courses at a University. Although I have been skeptical about online degrees, it's convenient for me right now so I decided to stay with it. I'm pursuing a bachelors degree in Business Admin and wanted to know when should I start looking to start an internship? What kind of Internship can I get into with pursuing a Business Admin degree? Do I have to go through my degree plan advisor at the school? Really just confused about this aspect in taking online courses. If anyone can help in anyway that would be great, Thanx!!! more

Resolved Question: I graduated college with a low GPA. Will taking classes at my community college help me get into grad school?

I recently graduated from a prestigious, Top 50, private university with a BA in Political Science, and now I want to go to graduate school for business. However, I was a slacker throughout college, partied a lot, skipped class frequently, and was content with getting Bs and Cs. I never really knew what I wanted to major in and just chose one for the sake of choosing one. I certainly did not make the most of the many opportunities I had offered to me. I graduated with a 2.4 GPA, which even if I get high exam scores, will still make it really difficult to get into most graduate programs. I was thinking of maybe taking online business classes at my community college and doing really well, and then about a year from now apply to grad school. I could perhaps find a business-related internship this summer to also increase my odds. How much though would this really help my chances? I've taken classes at my community college before for my own interest, and the classes are much, much easier than at the university I graduated from. Would doing well at a community college after getting my bachelor's degree really show a grad school that I'm capable of handling the work involved in getting an MBA? more

Resolved Question: Online Degree Program Similar to Bachelor's in Entertainment Business from Full Sail?

I am searching for an online degree program that will allow me to go into a career as a Record Producer, Video Producer, Multimedia Artist etc. Something creative dealing with elements of Music and/or Video. Preferably a Bachelor's but an Associate's could work. Full Sail offers a program like this but they lack regional accreditation and are uber-expensive. So again, my key requirements are: Fully Online Program in Music/Multimedia (Bachelor's or Associate's Degree) Regional Accreditation would be nice Thank You for any help offered! The ideal program WOULD include subject matter in fields other than music/multimedia such as business and marketing courses to make for a well rounded education. Unrealistic career? I don't think so. Not when practically every business in existence has a website, and every website has CONTENT. Content being Music, Video, Animations, Pictures, and Text, in other words Multimedia. I am not attempting to go to college to become Dr. Dre, I'm not naive enough to think that you can just grab a degree and become rich and famous in this industry without hard work, dedication, and luck. Above all, I am NOT seeking advice. Whether you personally agree or not with my education and career choices is not my concern. Please offer any information on schools that offer programs similar to the one that I seek. Thank You! more

Resolved Question: What requirements do I need to fulfill if I want to sit for the CPA exam?

I already have a bachelors degree in business and previously took financial and managerial accounting. As far as I know I would need 24 units of accounting in total in order to qualify for this exam. But here's my question. How do I know which accounting classes I would have to take in particular in order to have 24 units of accounting in total. I would also like to just take the courses and not do another degree. If possible, I would like to take the courses online as I don't live in the States. Can anybody please provide me with some good info on that? Thanks more

Resolved Question: Need help finding perfect online school?

Hoping someone can help chart my future here with a great school suggestion. I am currently in a two year community college but need to move to a four year program to complete my bachelors. My criteria are as follows: 1. Must be nationally and regionally accredited 2. Must offer complete Business Administration degree online 3. Must not be online only 4. Need reasonable tuition of $600 per credit hour or less (fees included) (I live in Ohio for state schools) 5. It should be a decent school that will look good on a resume (i.e. no University of Phoenix crap) I guess that is it. Flexible transfer credits would be a huge plus. I am sure there are a lot of schools like this, but finding them in a sea of college scam schools online is proving to be really difficult. Any help is appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Should I complete a degree online or in the classroom? Details below!?

I am a non-traditional adult student who hates being inside a classroom. Who hates going anywhere really but I really want/need a degree. I don't have any interests so I'm looking at distance learning bachelor's degree programs offered from B&M universities in my state and it isn't much. I've only found a BA in liberal studies and a BA in business education so far. I don't have an applied associate's degree but I do have 30+ and will have 60 after Spring 2010. I just hate being around people and this makes me not want to go to class. I rather purchase a good computer for online classes and finish school that way. What do you think?oops! 30+ credits... and I will have 60+ credits after Spring 2010 semester is over with. more

Resolved Question: Which of these college degrees are the best?

I am a 22 year old women working 2 jobs right now and planning on going back to school. Since my life right now is really busy I am deciding to go to school online to earn my bachelors degree. I am very interested in going to University of Maryland online but I am having trouble deciding which college major to choose from. I want a job where I can be professional and work in a business environment. Which of these college majors are the best, in demand and would be ok to earn online. 1. Finance major - Economics minor 2. Business Administration major- Communications minor 3. Computer Studies major - Marketing Minor 4. Information Systems Management major- Business Administration minor 5. Computer Information Science major - International Business Management minor I have a passion for all of the degrees listed and I am really torn and don't know which one to choose. So if you could rank them from best to worst it would really help. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Is trying to become a marketing manager like a gamble?

I'm a junior in high school and I've done some research. So basically you depend more on your natural skills than what you learn? Is it even easy to find a job after you finish college? If you get a master's (or bachelor's) degree in business or marketing, what other options can you choose if you fail at becoming a successful marketing manager? Also, some people say you don't need to take calculus for it. But in some places online it says you do. So what's the deal with that? I really want to know because I don't want to take AP Stats as a senior in high school next year when it would be better if I took calculus. more

Resolved Question: BEST TWO YEAR COLLEGE FOR BUSINESS MANAGEMENT DEGREE?

I live in Maryland about 15 minutes away from DC, I am currently a senior in high school, instead of looking at a 4 year college I have decided i want to pursue my bachelors degree in Business Management at a 2 year college instead. I'd perfer something in the Va, Dc, Md area. I don't mind taking a both online and campus courses. I don't know what schools are best, but i don't want to go to Devry because quite honestly I have only heard people laugh about that place as a school. Just a little more info for those who are worried that its a bad choice for someone so young to do... Unlike most people ready to graduate high school, I have been blessed with a career already...I am actually a professional ballroom dancing instructor, the only reason I am looking at a 2 year college is because in order to move up the ranks and get promoted i going to need a business degree and since the job takes up much time and dedication i would like to recieve my degree the fastest; however i would like to go to the best college in the area. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME more

Voting Question: About AIU ONLINE I WANT THE TRUTH!?

I attended AIU Online and I received an associates degree there in Business Administration. I am now going back to get my Bachelors in Business Administration. The reason I went back to AIU was because my credits would've transferred to UNC-Greenboro in NC however all off them wouldn't so in turn I went back to AIU. For my associates they had a SACS accreditation now they have a NCU accreditation they say which is still regionally accredited. I called the local technical school in my area and they said that it was still nationally accredited so my degree is legit! But i'm reading all of these rumors about the college being Bogus! Voting Question: WASC accredited University with online degree?

I am looking for a WASC accredited University/College that offers online degrees. My intention is to start studying online (I do not live in the USA) for an Associates/Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, and then transfer to a California State University once I move to the USA.
