Channel 4 Radio is in talks with electronics manufacturers to create a branded plug-in DAB device that would enable mobile phone and iPod users to access digital radio. The news comes as the broadcaster prepares to launch digital station E4 Radio later this year. It is keen to develop an E4 or Channel 4-branded device that would cost no more than 20 pounds, sources said. The development comes as DAB radio take-up has been slow, with only 6.5 million digital radio sets in use compared to 100 million analogue sets. DAB suffered a setback in February as a result of the announcement of the planned departure of GCap (GCAP.L: Quote, Profile, Research), Britain's largest commercial radio group, from digital radio. Enders Analysis suggested in a recent report that DAB could become the new Betamax.

Small business owners seek fuel tax relief

Owners of small businesses feeling the pain at the pump are again asking the province to cut the provincial fuel tax.

Leanne Hachey, Atlantic vice-president of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, said she delivered 2,500 signed faxes demanding the cut to Service Nova Scotia Minister Jamie Muir on Friday morning.

"Increased transportation costs are compounded by other energy cost hikes," said Ms. Hachey. "What is different for business is that they’re facing additional pressures, too, like wage pressures."

Ms. Hachey said unlike in some provinces, there’s been no tax relief in sight in Nova Scotia to offset these rising costs.

"Newfoundland and Labrador, for instance, made major cuts to personal income tax last year and eliminated another major tax this year. more

Resolved Question: How to structure a deal for people investing in my LLC?

I own a housekeeping service I want to use OPM (other people's money) to fund my business. I purchased a coffee shop several years ago, ad while it was a great idea, the anchor store for the place I was attached to closed so I had to file bankruptcy (I had a lease and various other obligations that I could not escape). This time around, I learned and won't be sticking my neck out all the way without other people's necks at least half way out as mine lol. I have been in business for a year. I am creating a business plan. Marketing methods I have used are all free or relatively cheap and it has rewarded me with steady business. I thnk if I were to spend money on marketing our brand, we could get a lot more customers Plus I am operating in two markets. I want to be able to structure a deal for people who want to invest in my business. Of course, I'm running an LLC, not a C Corp so I can't do any IPO or anything like that. My problem is I don't know how to structure an investment deal: do I structure a repayment plan like a loan, with interest? Do I ask for the money in increments like an investor promises $10k over a year but to be given at $2500 per quarter with an expected return of $2000 after two years. PLEASE help! reccomend me a good book about getting investors without involving a million expensive lawyers. I want to be very basic. I just want to be able to show how our business has performed over the past year, show our business plan and ask for their money. I want to avoid loan-backing my business. I am a coffee shop owner and would like to provide free wifi to my customers. I would like to have up to 50 people be able to access the internet via wireless high-speed connection. What is the most economically-conscious way to do this? I don't want to spend thousands on this service. I am only stating facts and nothing else. Should you need more information feel free to ask. Here's the story... My girlfriend and I live together and are currently sharing a car as she recently sold hers. Technically the car is mine but she uses it for her day to day needs like picking the kids up from school, grocery shopping, etc. I am self employed so my schedule is pretty flexible and on most days she will drop me off at the office and pick me up when I'm ready. I do have an obligation to provide a shipping service for a company I have a contract with and it is important that I start each day at a reasonable hour so that I can perform as promised. On the day in question my girlfriend had a doctors appointment at 11:00am. She had told me about the appointment several times in the week preceding the appointment and on the morning of the appointment's. At around 8:30am I had made plans to have breakfast with a friend/business associate. She reminded me of her appointment and I decided to cancel my breakfast. I sat in the dining room working on my computer from 9:00am on and from time to time got up to either smoke a cigarette or get more coffee. I'm not sure what my girlfriend was doing exactly but she could have been cleaning up around the house or doing laundry, I'm not sure. At around 10:30am she said we have to go I'm going to be late. I got into the car after putting my laptop away and helped her put the dogs in their rooms. I proceeded to my office which is about 5 minutes from our house. It is almost exactly 5 miles and most of it is highway. Almost religiously I stop at Starbucks on the way in. She started getting upset in the car on the way there and I asked why she didn't tell me earlier that we needed to leave. I skipped my Starbucks and went straight in the direction of my office. She then told me that her doctor's appointment was about 15-20 minutes away. After she continually blamed me for her being late and I continued to say it was her fault we ended up in a very big argument. At some point she decided there was no way she was going to make it on time and called to cancel the appointment. I then turned the other way to go to starbucks. Aside from the obvious of me being a little unsympathetic to the fact that she was late. I was extremely pissed off that I was taking the blame for it. She still contends that it was my responsibility to know what time to leave for her doctor's appointment. She never told me the address of the doctor, she assumes that I knew where it was. Regardless of whether I knew where it was, is it my responsibility to watch the clock and make sure she's on time? Am I in the wrong? Shouldn't she have said we need to leave at 10:00am? To make it very simple, AM I TO BLAME? more

I want to open my own business. Originally I was planning on opening a maternity/infant/toddler consignment store. After really thinking about the funding needed to support an endeavor such as this I have started to consider just ruining a store online. I have searched and not found many stores like this. So my questions are as follows: Would you shop online for used items (with a money back guarantee- no stains, tears, etc.)? How would you feel about paying for shipping? Should I just resell clothing? What are some other resale items that would sell? Should I sell other (new) items such as diapers, kid friendly cleaning products, etc.? PART ONE There is this girl that I am interested in and i also think she is cute, but she has a really nice personality, too. I have known her through out summer, working at my favorite coffee shop. I have made very little chit chat for most of the summer, but lately I have been asking her about herself for the past month or so. We make eye contact for short periods of time, and she always asks me how my day or how i am doing when I walk in and always says goodbye when I leave. I have lately been wondering if she is just being nice to me, or if she is interested in me. I have tired to pay attention to how she acts when I am there. I don't stare, i usually just work on hw or other stuff. From what I have noticed is: - she sometimes stares - she answers all my questions with a sentence or two -she let me use her phone once (but didnt keep the number) so ladies could you help me out, because I want to be able to have a date with her. PART 2 so the last two times i have been there she now doesn't say a thing and hides in the back room, the 1st day (sunday 3wks ago) she gave me a drink from under the counter for free, but thats it then the 2nd (monday 3wks ago) i left a little note on the back of my business card "one free dinner and a show call for details" and left it in the tip jar. last part: I bought her a candy bar and asked her to go bowling, but she said she had a bf. since then I went there n overheard her say she broke up with him like 2 weeks ago, so plan to ask her out again but to dinner or coffee or workout or sumthing Since then I was there, i haven't seen her, in like 2 or 3 weeks, so I sent her a message on myspace that said this: "did u kno" in the subject box then it read "did you kno...your soo beautiful" then her mood:eewwww her extended network:creeped out then I sent "I dont mean to seem creepy, I just think ur cool, cya" in the subject box then it read -(my name) then like 2days later she picked up her paycheck, i didnt talk cuz i was nervous, besides she left n had her friends in her car P.S.
