Easier ECB rules may fire up industry
A relaxation in the restrictions on raising funds abroad is likely as the government is increasingly favouring the view that depriving industry of liquidity is not the way to fight inflation.
The restrictions on end use, the quantum of fund allowed to be raised and the interest rate would be specifically reviewed in the current economic context, it is learned.
Last August, India capped the foreign debt an Indian company could bring home at $20 million a year and made RBI approval mandatory. However, a company could still raise a loan up to $500 million abroad under the automatic route, without taking specific RBI permission. Bringing the borrowed capital home increased domestic liquidity and fuelled inflation. Hence the policy prescription to spend the bulk of foreign borrowing on foreign expenditure, such as on imports, foreign acquisitions or repayment of past external loans. more
Richmond man dies in wreck while fleeing police
Cunningham says 25-year-old Jamaal R. Tolliver of Richmond was killed after his car hit a utility pole during the chase, which lasted less than two minutes. Tolliver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer says Tolliver wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Cunningham says an unidentified trooper attempted to stop the car after he saw it swerve in and out of the right lane of Interstate 95. The car left the interstate and the trooper pursued it to Hull Street, where it hit the pole.
The accident is being investigated.

Disrespect the law.
"Laws are made to be broken" is a sophomoric challenge that may sound daring but can also be deadly. The no-one-can-tell-me-what-to-do attitude is characteristic of a 2-year old and is not an appropriate adult life-style choice.
Law breakers drink and drive, don't wear seat belts, engage in financial scams, cheat and spend more time looking for loopholes in the law than it would take to simply be compliant. Lawbreakers often harm others and ultimately harm themselves.
Expect others to share their good fortune with you. more
