iPod News: Apple Applies For Solar Power Patent

Apple has applied for a patent for a technology that places solar power cells under a touch screen, according to Free Patents Online.Such a device could overcome one of the primary obstacles for using solar power on mobile devices - simply finding enough space on the device for large enough cells. This could potentially result in an iPod or iPhone that can be used indefinitely under direct sunlight without needing to be plugged in for a recharge.Several other companies, such as Nokia and Vodafone, have recently expressed increasing interest in "Going Green" using technologies like solar power. In addition to the potential for increased convenience, the use of solar cells in Apple's devices could reduce the company's overall carbon footprint, which would ultimately make it a huge benefit not only to consumers but also to the environment as a whole.-----------------------------------------------------Read our iPod product reviews:http://www.mobiletechreview.com/iPod.htmMore News. more

Westfield retailers closed for business 2:09pm 28.05.08

Retailers are feeling the pinch of slow sales with shopping centre vacancy rates on the rise, according to major shopping centre landlord Westfield.

Following the group’s annual meeting, joint managing director Steven Lowy confirmed a slowing but said the group was strong enough to withstand a downturn. "There has been a slight increase in arrears amongst tenants, more so in the United States, but also in Australia. These events are expected but we are well positioned to ride out these conditions." The group has 23,000 tenants in their global operations. Lowy noted that there was enough diversity in that number to endure a further decrease in consumer expenditure.

GameStop earnings up 151 percent New Mexico Business Weekly

"We are very bullish on the future as three major metrics are transforming the business and accelerating the potential for GameStop growth," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer R. Richard Fontaine. "The installed base of video game consoles grew 34 percent in 2007, or nearly 31 million units, the highest incremental growth in the history of the business, and we are forecasting that hardware unit sell-through will match these levels in 2008. And behind the huge hardware growth is the fact that the demographic for videogaming is expanding dramatically, as industry figures indicate that 38 percent of game players are female."

GameStop (NYSE: GME) opened 210 new locations in the first quarter, and plans a total of up to 600 new stores in 2008.

The company is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas. more

Resolved Question: Legal scenario cannot resolve please help needed!?

THE PROBLEMS OF JAMES FACTUAL SITUATION a. James has recently inherited Blackacre from a distant cousin. Blackacre consists of a large plot of undeveloped land on the edge of the rural village of Littlewit. James, who is without any commercial or business experience and little experience of life, decides to develop the land by building a number of houses on Blackacre. James gets an old school friend who studied art at technical college to design the houses and the layout of the estate. b. James enters into a building contract with Boget Builders Limited (“Boget”) to build the houses. Boget in turn enters into a subcontract with Marchland Limited (“Marchland”) to carry out the ground works. Tim who is an employee of Marchland is working on site when he is injured by being run over by a lorry negligently driven by Peter an employee of Boget. c. Boget has now gone into liquidation owing money to Marchland for work carried out on site. At the time Boget went into liquidation, James had not paid Boget for the work carried out by Marchland. d. James has received a letter from William, an adjacent landowner, who states that he has a right of way over Blackacre which has been obstructed by the building works. William states that he will apply for a court injunction unless James agrees to stop the obstruction and repair the damage caused to the right of way by the ground works. In the letter James also complains that the noise and dust etc. caused by the building works have made his life a living hell and that he intends to sue James for nuisance. e. It now transpires that no planning was applied for before work was commenced on site. James has now been served with an Enforcement Notice requiring him to stop work on the site and requiring James to restore Blackacre to its natural state before the works were commenced on site. ___________________ GUIDANCE NOTES: 1. Resolved Question: Costs for renovating a bathroom?

So I know each bathroom is different, but I would like to know the average for a bathroom. Also, do you have to pay extra for someone to design the bathroom (material, colors, layout)? I plan to change everything from the tiles on the floor, to the wall tiles, the bath tub itself, a little plumbing, and the toilet bowl. One last thing, if I get it done in the winter, (I live in NJ, average is 25-35 degrees F), will there be a discount since business is slowing down for the contractor? The next few weeks maybe? more

Resolved Question: will the iphone ever come to verizon!?! when does the nexus one?

ok so i have been wanting an iphone forever and i recently got an ipod touch and i am blown away by it but i wish i had the all in one phone, the iphone. i really want it but its not an option at all for me to switch to AT&T due to family plans and business. i have heard so many rumors that it was coming in 2010 or 2011 but i also heard that the iphone is specially for AT&T so they would have to create a new one for verizon. i heard that the are doing something very similar and adding a key board to the phone and then being sold by verizon but im sure this is false. i have tried to the blackberry storm, voyager and at the moment i have the env touch but its just not the same. i like how to iphone has apps and such an easy layout where as to the env touch is extremely bulky and doesnt have amazing touch features. i just like all touch not really any call/end/clr keys like the blackberry storm. i have heard the nexus one is great but in my opinion its not like the iphone to me because i love apple and i am so used to it. i really love the funny entertaining apps of the iphone that are useless but so fun and im not sure nexus one has any of those. i also like itunes and ipods so to have that on an iphone would be amazing and i dont know if the nexus one has that. feel free to correct me if im wrong. i have heard verizon turned down the nexus one. i dont understand why verizon would turn it down because its already so popular and it would be great for them. if it does come out for verizon will it be out before maybe the end of the summer? same goes for iphone? do you know any specific dates? please answer! more

Resolved Question: This is so weird, thoughts?

I do at least somewhat think of my sims as regular people, they certainly have free will - to the point I end up with a lot of zombie children. -shakes fist- So fellow sim weirdos, I'd like your opinion. :D I had a dream tonight, sort of smashed with a dream about my bf's disappearance, about being a sim. My mother got me the Seasons EP. I was kinda upset [she brings out the worst in people, honest] because I doubt my PC irl can handle it. But I put in the cd in my dream and it started snowing inside. I've downloaded the rain extracted from the ep irl, it did this - MTS2 for those who want it anyway. So I basically became a sim. All of a sudden the house layout changed and I'd moved in with my bf, his mum, and her somewhat fiancee. Wonder if this is what it feels like for townies when they're moved in for a legacy. xD There's now lots of beautiful clothes in my closet, which no longer has a guitar, books, scarves and a giant lump of blankets in it. There's the basegame pink suit thing too, I notice. So we [idk the other person, but they were my sis o_o] start trying things on and I notice, oddly there's a new clothing category called Stink. xDD Don't remember the others. I felt like someone experiencing weather for the first time. Like my dog when he's really excited and keeps unintentionally bruising people with his tail. We had the fan going and it was really hot, and someone's LJ post played in my head about how they always set it to summer, even though it was snowing. I took pics of some of the cool stuff in the closet [it wouldn't stop and started to lag] and worried about sunscreen, something I never do. Makes me really want to get Seasons. I was planning on getting the Best of Business bundle, but I have a slight leaning toward Seasons now. D: Should I get that instead? Just...what are your thoughts, guys? xD more

Resolved Question: Help on my landscaping and construction business plan i need answers under each topic please help asap.?

Promotion How will you get the word out to customers? Advertising: What media, why, and how often? Why this mix and not some other? Have you identified low-cost methods to get the most out of your promotional budget? Will you use methods other than paid advertising, such as trade shows, catalogs, dealer incentives, word of mouth (how will you stimulate it?), and network of friends or professionals? Should you have a system to identify repeat customers and then systematically contact them? How much will you spend on the items listed above? Where will this money come from? Image What image do you want to project? How do you want customers to see you? What plans do you have for graphic image support? This includes things like logo design, cards and letterhead, brochures, signage, and interior design (if customers come to your place of business). Pricing Explain your method or methods of setting prices. Compare your prices with those of the competition. Are they higher, lower, the same? Why? For most small businesses, having the lowest price might take away from profit margin; large competitors can under price you anyway. Will you have average prices and compete on quality and service? Does your pricing strategy fit with what was revealed in your competitive analysis? How important is price as a competitive factor? Do your intended customers really make their purchase decisions mostly on price? Proposed Location Is your location important to your customers? If yes, how? If customers come to your place of business: Is it convenient? Parking? Interior spaces? Not out of the way? Is it consistent with your image? Is it what customers want and expect? Where is the competition located? Is it better for you to be near them (like car dealers or fast food restaurants) or distant (like convenience food stores)? What qualities do you need in a location? Describe the type of location you’ll have. Physical requirements: • Amount of space • Type of building • Zoning • Power and other utilities Access: Is it important that your location be convenient to transportation or to suppliers? Do you need easy walk-in access? What are your requirements for parking and proximity to freeway, airports, railroads, and shipping centers? Include a drawing or layout of your proposed facility if it is important, as it might be for a manufacturer. Construction? Most new companies should not sink capital into construction, but if you are planning to build, costs and specifications will be a big part of your plan. Cost: Estimate your occupation expenses, including rent, but also including maintenance, utilities, insurance, and initial remodeling costs to make the space suit your needs. What will be your business hours? Distribution Channels How do you sell your products or services? • Retail • Direct (mail order, Web, catalog) • Wholesale • Your own sales force • Agents • Independent representatives • Bid on contracts ......I need answers for these in your opinion for a business plan for a landscaping and construction company please help more

Resolved Question: I'm starting a new dog walking company, any advice on improving my website?

(dont know which way makes the link show up I'll put both) http://www.wtdogwalkers.com/ www.wtdogwalkers.com Well, actually I've been at it for a little while now, but if I can get a bit more business I can take on employees and grow, so I'm starting to try and increase my advertising. I started doing morning / nights / and weekends several months ago and am actually making a living doing it now...which is pretty cool. Quit my 9-5 and now would like to expand some more. I find word of mouth is my #1, way to get new clients, but I need to find a way to get more clients now that this is my only source of income. Also, if I'm going to really grow I'll need employees which means handing customers and a % of the $$ over, but I've reached an awkward stage, where I have to turn away people looking for Noon time walks, but have lots of free time from 8-11 and 4-8 that I'd love to fill, so having more help would allow me to take more Noon time clients and make more $$. Well, not to get into my whole business model and growth plans...but I'm hoping the website will help me get more customers, so any constructive feedback would be much appreciated!! Things I wounder as I look at it is: - Is the first page quick & catchy and to the point? - Are their to many pictures and videos of my dog? -If your interested in my services and look on the 'services' page, is it easy to find what you want and figure out how uch it will cost you? -Does the descriptions of the service read well or leave you confused or is it to much info? -In the FAQ - frequently asked questions - is there any other questions you could think of, or are any of the answers to short or not fully answer the questions? -Resources - might change it to 'testimonials' , as I can't figure out what to put there!! -Track the walk, good idea? kind of creepy?? - Meet the walkers, good info on me? over sharing?? - Contact Us, I don't like the layout, but can't figure out what would be better? any ideas? --------------------------------------… An answer to one or all of these or anything else you can think of would be so much help!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! (dont know which way makes the link show up I'll put both) http://www.wtdogwalkers.com/ www.wtdogwalkers.com more

Voting Question: LoverOfWine can you answer a question for me?

You definitely look like you know what you are talking about! I have an idea for a software program... it is for personal use but would be a great product for a certain business. If I was to only produce it for myself then I could write it in Microsoft Access as it is mainly data entry and pulling up reports from the data entered. It is not a simple Access file it would be quite detailed. Considering I am planning on marketing this product, not for a large price, I need to know my options. I am pretty good at teaching myself programs BUT have never ventured into programming and don't know if I could get my head around it. Is Microsoft Visual Basics user friendly for the novice (ie. like Dreamweaver where you can use the Design layout instead of writing in code) OR is it strictly programming language? And how long does it take to program something? I realize you don't know the size of the program but a simple program... 1 hour, 6 hours etc? Finally, what are my options if I also wanted to use it on Mac? Thank you to LoverOfWine or any other wonderful programmer who can help me with my novice questions. more

Voting Question: What kind of server would I need for 114 employees if we are utilizing VMware?

I have got a project in my advanced networking class, and I was looking for some help. The instructor gave us a layout of an office and the office is 5 stories tall, with 11 offices on each floor, some floors having more than one employee per office, in all we have 114 users. My group was planning on using VMware in the servers and having 2 powerful servers utilizing one as back up, we don't really need to stay under a certain cost as long as we can justify having the equipment. What kind of servers you think would satisfy this application? Or what kind of hardware in the servers would be a minimum for this? We have already got an idea of what we want I was just kind of looking for a second opinion. Any ideas? Also what kind of switches on each floor as well as routers and any other equipment we would need to use? The business we are doing this for is a staffing agency. more

Voting Question: ENTRPRENUERS ...Starting a BOXING/MMA Training CENTER...Need Some Help.?

Alright, So i am trying to start a boxing training center - basically I want to have a decent sized gym with 'possibly' a ring...[depending on size, obviously]. my ideas for the layout would be something like; A series of bags, spaced enough to give room to people hitting the bag A Ring [for sparring/practice] Cardio area [a few bikes/treadmills or something of that sort] A small free weight area [for a simple arm workout/wrist work out, etc] Padding on all floors and walls. Now, I'm interested to hear some ideas or some way to write a business plan that really makes sense. I'd need some info such as since it will be a training center, there won't be any 'classes', but maybe I would like to incorporate them for the beginners.... I'm really a little lost, but would love for some advice, someone who maybe wants to talk with KNOWLEDGE of either owning a real business or into the boxing business [this will be in new jersey] przewozj@gmail.com jasonprzewoznik@yahoo.com - yahoo msgr more

say your business hires a sign maker to make something for your main store. you plan with them and tell them what you want and he shows you a drawing of what the final product is and you approve. then when it's done and you see the final product, it's vaguely similar to the plan but the quality and layout/design is bad. do you have to pay them? Resolved Question: Question about good Forums & hosting?

I have a couple of questions that hopefully you guys can help me on. 1. I would like to create a forum in hopes that one day a large amount of people will use everyday. What are good forum programs, specifically one that you would have to pay for. 2. Depending on the size of the database plan I choose, can a forum hold a large amount of people? (an example of a # would be awesome) 3. Once I have a forum program, will I be able to design my forum AND then load it onto a hosting service once I feel it is complete? Or do I need both at the same time? I ask because I am not sure if I need both the forum and the hosting to actually get a feeling how the forum will work (ex. the links work properly, layout is in order, etc...) 4. What is a good hosting service? Again, something of very good quality, such as for a business. 5. Lastly, the website Craigslist.com is not a forum, what kind of website layout is that? Just a basic website with links?? Would creating a website similar to how craigslist works be easier than a forum? I also know craigslist is able to hold the actions of A LOT of people using the site. I would greatly appreciate it if you all can share your knowledge! Thanks! more

I know my e. mail and phone number, occupation, and name are a need-be. But should my address go on there as well? Do I need to copywrite or have some type of permission to make the business card? Would it be good if I put one of my own photographs (not of myself) on the business card? I was thinking maybe having one side of the card be an image, and on the back the info? Or the picture just next say...on the right of the text. What does everyone think?fyi I love in the U.S.Should I put up there my cell number too along with my home phone, or just my home number? more

Voting Question: When selling, what is the best way to layout the numbers and demonstrate the value to the prospect?

I am selling a email marketing solution to a corporate that owns several local media in a specific region. It will allow them to provide email marketing to their local advertisers while we run the technology side. I have given him an over view of our product, and asked several questions, and have learned a great deal about their needs and concerns. He wants me to put together a business plan for our proposal. He mentioned specific metrics like time to break even, how they can reach 100% markup. What are the best practices for this type of business plan/business case/proposal type of communication with a sales prospect? Can anyone point me to any good resources on the Web? Thanks all, more

Resolved Question: Suggestions for landing a job in higher education?

I recently graduated from college with my bachelor's degree in communications and international business. I believe that I'm pretty qualified to work at a university, and I have a game plan for my future. During my undergraduate education I worked at my admissions office where I conducted campus tours, advised students, etc... I also worked at my news office and helped in designing the layout. I participated in a study abroad program which allowed me to interact with students from many different cultures. As for my future, I plan to work a solid year doing anything at a university, being a program assistant, admissions, study abroad office, news office, etc.. pretty much anything that will give me higher education experience. I would then like to earn my master's degree in international affairs, or cross cultural communication and then be eligible to work with international students. Eventually I'd like to earn my Ph.D. So I KNOW that's what I want to do, and I've been applying for a ton of positions at universities, but I have had no responses whatsoever. A lot of the positions I apply for via the university's human resources website, and I have gotten no responses. Suggestions please????!!! I really want/need a job at university or college...! more

Resolved Question: I need to write a business plan in order that my bank will loan me some money?

Having never done anything like this before I wondered if there was somewhere on the internet that I could download some template/s that would make my proposal look a little more professional in terms of its layout. In addition useful phraseology that again would make my proposition appear to be more viable to a lender. Many thanks. more

Resolved Question: Work at home moms: how do you manage your kids while working?

I plan on (hopefully soon!) to start my own scrap booking business. I would custom make scrap books and/or layouts from my own home and ship them to the customers. I'm not sure exactly about all the details of it, but so far the plan is in the works. I'm also looking at starting my own line of paper (fingers crossed!) Anyhow, how do you manage your kids while you work if you work from home? Do you hire a sitter to help or do you have a family member watch them or do you just do the work and manage your kids as you go? I have a 3 year old and 1 year old and plan on working basically 6-8 hours a day 5 days a week. Suggestions? Advice? Tips?Yay for trolls! :) more

Resolved Question: I made a layout of my website in photoshop?

I just made a layout in photoshop of what I want my home page to look like for my business website. I was going to pay somebody to then take my idea and make me a website but I am wondering how hard would it be for me to do it myself? I have already bought a domain name and a hosting plan. Also, how would I go about having my link pages (home, services, gallery, contact us) come up when people click on the tab? more

Resolved Question: Opinions on what to do with money, please:).?

We will be selling our commercial building AND business. The buyer is getting financing for the building so we will get that money in one big chunk, but will make payments over 9 months to pay for the business. My husband and I are undecided what to do with our living situation; what's your opinion? We are Dave Ramsey fans and strive to, above all, be debt free. After paying off debts, we will have $70k from the sale of the building to put towards our house mortgage (currently around $135k and it appraises at $145k). No argument about that. We can't agree on where to put the $55k from the sale of the business. He wants to put that towards the current house as well. I want to use it as a down payment towards another home (from $90-110k) and rent out both parts of the current home (refinanced at 15yr mortgage). This would be enough rent to pay for both home mortgages. We currently rent out our basement and live in the top half of the home (we've been doing this for 6 years). It is 850sqft with 2 bedrooms. We have two boys that share a room and various large and small animals. AND, we have another baby due in 6 months. We are out of room! Even if we didn't have a renter and spread into the basement, I wouldn't feel comfortable separating myself from the kids. To get to the basement, you literally walk out the door to an (enclosed) outdoor stairwell and then into the door of the basement. It's like a completely different structure that happens to be underneath. I don't need a bigger/nicer home, just one that has a different layout (like a ranch). My husband acknowledges we're out of room, but is zeroed in on paying off the house and says we need to rough it with 3 kids in one tiny room. He can't, however, give me a timeline for how long we'll be living like this. He, by the way, has nothing to do with the house. He doesn't do ANY of the care taking of the kids or home and has no idea the stress this cramped home gives me. I know my husband just wants the peace of not having a mortgage. I know that's a good thing. My plan, though, is to continue to rent out the home until the market gets better and then sell this current home (within 5 years?) leaving us 100% mortgage free, and maybe we'll have enough to get a car younger than 15 years old! Unless, of course, we're able to pay off the mortgage with my husband's next business adventure then we'll keep it as an income property. If you were in our shoes, what option would you be leaning towards? Thanks for taking the time to read! more

Resolved Question: Starting My Own Online Store! *smile*?

Hey, So I'm planning to open up my online store, and I would really appreciate some help! *smile* I would like to know if there is a website like haystack .com for example, I love haystack, the price is cheap and the designs are awesome but the only thing that bother me is that I cannot have my own domain! I need a hosting website that allows me to do this... I need a domain, like www.thenameofmystore.com I need to be able to make my own design for the layout, and the customers need to have the option of paying with credit card, debit card and pay pal. Also, is there a credit card out there that will really benefit small business owners with rewards and a very low interest rate? Thank you so,so much for your help! more

Resolved Question: Can anyone help with CSS codes for IE/FF/all browsers? Especially on myspace - to prevent a messed up profile?

I've just started to use Mozilla Firefox and I'm not going to go back to Internet Explorer as its really really slow in comparison Anyway, I completely re-did my MySpace profile yesterday on Firefox, and it looks great on there however when I went to look at it on Internet Explorer the page is completely messed up - even the layout/background doesn't show up. Seeing as I have to have my myspace profile looking perfect all the time, you can understand this is extremely annoying. I've searched the internet and apparently it's because the CSS codes are right on Firefox but IE doesn't read them well and so it looks bad. I'm normally a complete myspace geek but seeing as I'm still a teenager and not had any teaching in web design or anything, this is confusing to me.. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it - I need my profile to look great on all browsers! Plus if anyone can help me understand it more it would be great because I plan to make my own web business when I'm older. This is the link to my profile - if you look at it in both FF and IE before you answer it'd probably be more helpful :) http://www.myspace.com/437820025 Thankyou! x more

Im looking for a college course that i will enjoy and will also get me into university if i decide to go against the acting career, like a fall back plan. I like business and i love graphic design (making layouts etc online) but i really am unsure what to do. Resolved Question: Photography Assistant? Is it really worth it or is their a better way?

This is a two part question actually. I want to become a professional photographer. Yeah I know, you've all heard this a million times. I know a lot of the basics of photography through 6 years of professional modeling but I know it will take years of hard work to build my career. I've met a lot of great people in this business who not only specialize in high fashion/editorial work but weddings and regular portraiture as well. I have fallen in love with this line of work and I want to make sure I take the right steps to begin. I was planning on learning through a photographer I have worked with many times through modeling where I live now (most of the great photographers I've met never went to formal schools to learn photography), but my husband got a job offer in Kansas and sadly now we are moving. So here's my dilemma... I am planning to go back to school this fall at Kansas State University, majoring in Business. I know they have a photography program but I'd rather learn through experience. I have a Nikon D80 and I'm working on getting lights, meters, reflectors, etc. at this time. I also work with Adobe Lr 2.0 at the moment and prefer it to Photoshop CS3 because of it's simplified layouts and tools. So, my first question is obviously should I try to find professional photographers in my area to work under as a "photographers assistant" or is it wise to learn on my own through trial and error while I'm in school? I want a business degree because I know there are things in this business that a photography assistant will not be taught such as how to run the business end of photography successfully and I want that knowledge. I don't want to know how to answer phones or carry equipment I want real training and help which I would have had here through the friends I've made but I'm afraid some photographers aren't that open to just spilling techniques to total strangers. So any advice? My second question is I've been referred to a photography text book list and course outline that they use at a great (and highly overpriced), art and design school so you can learn on your own exactly what they teach but these books are your standard overpriced college textbooks and I'm looking for some cheap places online to get photography textbooks for cheaper (I don't care if they're slightly used). Anyone have any sites for me to check out? I've also heard of websites for college students that allow you to read college textbooks online but I haven't found one that has anything on photography. I guess that major isn't as important as "Liberal Arts" or something (sarcasm). If anyone knows of a site where they do this I'd love to know... and I'm not talking about illegal torrents, more like the sites that boycott the fact that the people who make textbooks charge you 10 times what they should for them because they know they can. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!I forgot to mention that even though I plan to major in business I am going to use my electives to take at least one photography course per semester. more

Resolved Question: Accounting, can some one help?

Accounting, can some one help? BTN 17-1 Refer to Krispy Kreme’s financial statements in Appendix A to answer the following: 1. This information is taken from their annual reports. An annual report is a summary of a company’s financial results for the year along with its current financial condition and future plans. This report is directed to external users of financial information, but it also affects the actions and decisions of internal users. A company uses an annual report to showcase itself and its products. Many annual reports include attractive photos, diagrams, and illustrations related to the company. The primary objective of annual reports, however, is the financial section, which communicates much information about a company, with most data drawn from the accounting information system. The layout of an annual report’s financial section is fairly established and typically includes the following: Letter to Shareholders Financial History and Highlights Management Discussion and Analysis Management’s Report Report of Independent Accountants (Auditor’s Report) Financial Statements Notes to Financial Statements List of Directors and Officers This appendix provides the financial statements for Krispy Kreme (plus selected notes), Tastykake, and Harley-Davidson. The appendix is organized as follows: Krispy Kreme A-2 through A-17 Tastykake A-18 through A-24 Harley-Davidson A-25 through A-30 Many assignments at the end of each chapter refer to information in this appendix. We encourage readers to spend time with these assignments; they are especially useful in showing the relevance and diversity of financial accounting and reporting. Special note: The SEC maintains the EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) database at www.SEC.gov. The Form 10-K is the annual report form for most companies. It provides electronically accessible information. The Form 10-KSB is the annual report form filed by “small businesses.” It requires slightly less information than the Form 10-K. One of these forms must be filed within 90 days after the company’s fiscal year-end. (Forms 10-K405, 10-KT, 10-KT405, and 10-KSB405 are slight variations of the usual form due to certain regulations or rules.) Voting Question: What future jobs would be best?

Ok i am 17 and going to be 18 by next October im preparing for what's ahead. I know that the economy is going almost (if not already in one) a depression and i know that a lot of people is going to get their work hours cut or get laid off. So im posting this to ask all of you what jobs would be best to look into getting that is reliable that won't go out of business or lay you off or cut your hours. What i've bee really looking forward in doing (and already learning it) is website development and computer technology. Im very good with computers and im building my own website (i don't use any of those WYSIWYG programs like Dreamweaver i make my site by typing up the HTML). So if you all can point me into the right career i would deeply appreciate it, im already planning on going to DeVry university or a community college to learn website development. What i was discussing with my cousin is to learn website development and make websites and sell the layout and stuff as a second job for extra income, and my cousin said he might be able to get me a job where he works which pays about $15 to start you off then when they make you permanent they pay you a little extra and they give a big xmas bonus. Honest answers to help me figure out would be great just list some jobs that will be good and fun to have, thanks. more

Resolved Question: Any tips on jump starting my business?

ok so i actually posted a question similar to this one but people did not seem to understand that my options are more limited than what they believe... I am 18 years old I am currently in school finishing my HSD and I have no job... I live in a house with my mom we have just recently hit a serious financial snag and I really need to start pulling my weight around the house... My mom is considering getting a second job and I have been trying for months to get my first... Stores have stoped hireing for the holiday season... I really want to help her I have started a website and It was originally for free layouts but I want to start selling clothes and accessories on it... I recently posted some of the stock I plan on selling on my myspace and have gotten serious feed back the thing is that people dont want to pay me untill i actually have the stock IN HAND... (please note the audience I am gearing toward are mainly around my age...) I want to start off selling somthing simple such as SHUDDER SHADES I can get 240pairs for $360 I have planned on pricing them as follows *normal shuddershades will be 2for$10 for the first 20 customers after that they will be $10 a peice *glow in the dark and rhinestone shades are not included in this offer they rang from $10-$15 a peice I do not have enough money to start buying my own stock I do already have 150 of my own money i just need about 200 more dollars and by the time i make that (even before) I will have enough to pay back the credit card company... I plan on telling people that this idea is only a trial idea and that if it does not work out i will not continue... so if i do not make enough money to buy more stock with the money from the shudder shades then i will not order more with a credit card... I was wondering if this would be a good idea to get a credit card... I know some of you think I am not trying hard enough to get a job but I am trying and as soon as i get one I will use that money to help my business but all things considered for those of you who think im not trying hard enough to get a job pretend that I was trying as hard as you think i should... (I.E. "going to 20stores a day asking for a job" and whatever) Lets just pretend that there were no other job options left... What should I do? Do you have any suggestions on how I can make any kind of money what so ever? Is getting a credit card a good idea? If it is not how can I get the money to sell my stock? Do you think I can find people who will pay ahead of time using a different advertisment or whatever? what do you suggest? more

Resolved Question: Fair pay compensation for amateur web designer?

I'm 17 and planning to design a website for a friend of my dad's who's willing to compensate me for my time and labor. I'm pretty handy with XHTML, but I'm not an expert on markup languages and I'm not certified, but I'm a fast learner and pretty good at what it is I do. I've "designed" several websites for friends already via studying templates to get an idea of how to format layouts and where everything "goes," then customizing them using my own graphics and photos taken and edited by me (I'm also an amateur photographer). This guy seems kind of professional. What is a good compensation to request for structuring a 5+ page website with personalized graphics, audio greeting, customized banner, an ecommerce store, a bunch of other stuff, and headshots of the guy and commercial photos of his business? Thanks alot! more

Voting Question: How do I open a business in a town that doesnt want me to?

I recently started the process of opening a business in the town I live in. When I went downtown to apply for my licenses they basically told me that I couldn't have a license.(in so many words.) They came up with a bunch of things that they said I needed to do first before I could open it. Even the person I was going to rent from told me that I was getting the run around. I went home and did some research and decided that I would do the things they asked because my heart really wanted to open this business. I called the city and told them that I wanted to go ahead and apply for the license. They then told me that I would have to show them my plan and layout of my business before I could even apply for the license. The license then would go in front of the city counsel for viewing. I asked if I could meet with the person and show them what he requested. He said he would contact me and set up a time to meet with him. He never called.Should I forget about it and move on?Thanks so much for all your help. My business cannot be a home based or internet business. It's a under 21 night club idea that I have. So, I need to get a city license. The problem is that they haven't issued one in a long time. That is what they keep telling me. Now they are just ignoring my phone calls. I have went over that I would have plenty of off duty Police officers that would control any problems. So, security shouldnt be an issue. I think the problem is that I am a nobody and they are very clicky. They dont know me so they dont want me to open a business. I went to get my applications and one lady said to me "Who are you!", What kind of business do you want to open!" Who are you!" very rude!! I feel why should I let them push me out of opening a business because they dont know who I am. Does anyone have any suggestions on legal things that I could do to get my business started.
