Formulations biz drives pharma exports up 16% in 2007-08

According to Dr Will Mitchell, professor of Business Administration (strategy), Duke School of Business, Duke University, US and director of Neuland Laboratories Ltd, the growing market potential for generics in Europe and the US would offer big export opportunity for Indian pharma companies over the next five years.

"About 66 per cent of medical prescriptions in the US are in generics and this itself is a big opportunity," he said.

Host Analytics secures investment for business expansion

Host Analytics said Thursday it has secured a multi-million dollar investment in its first institutional round of financing to fund aggressive growth plans aimed at growing the company's presence in the Software as a Service (SaaS) corporate performance management category.

The financing round was co-led by venture capital firms Advanced Technology Ventures and Trident Capital. Steve Baloff of Advanced Technology Ventures and Evangelos Simoudis of Trident Capital are now members of Host Analytics board of directors in conjunction with the financing.

The investment will help O'Fallon, Mo.-based Host Analytics' placement in the marketplace of its on-demand corporate performance management solutions, which help companies streamline their financial reporting, consolidation, budgeting and forecasting processes, according to the company. more

UPDATE: NYSE Euronext Taps Marketing Executive As New CFO

CHICAGO -(Dow Jones)- NYSE Euronext (NYX) on Thursday named Michael Geltzeiler, a former media and marketing executive, as chief financial officer.

Geltzeiler will join the stock and derivatives exchange operator on June 16, having most recently headed the education business at the Reader's Digest Association, where he was also CFO from 2001 to 2007.

He succeeds acting CFO Joost van der Does de Willebois, who was appointed last year after Nelson Chai left to become CFO at Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER), rejoining former NYSE Chief Executive John Thain, who is now CEO of the Wall Street brokerage.

The appointment of an outside candidate comes as NYSE Euronext continues the integration of the trans-Atlantic exchange operators that merged to form the company last year. more
