Guaranty Financial Group Inc. Announces Agreement to Receive
The parties expect to close the transaction on or before the close of business June 2, 2008. Guaranty has also previously announced a rights offering of common stock to its stockholders, and previously announced the close of business on June 2, 2008, or such later date as its registration statement relating to the proposed rights offering is declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission, as the record date for Guaranty's proposed rights offering.

We know the quality of their team, and we understand the tremendous value of their franchise. A registration statement relating to the securities offered in the rights offering has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. more

A direct mail company and a swimwear manufacturer are among four new clients turning to WebAdvantage.net for online marketing help.
The Havre de Grace firm credits the new wins to a shift in advertising dollars to the Internet amid economic concerns.
The new clients include:

Open Question: What is a PDA and is it better than a HND?
Ok so this may be a bit of a silly question but hey I can be a bit of a silly person lol. Oh & apologies for the length I can't ever seem to ask a short question hee hee. So I am thinking of going to college 1 day a week on a Day Release basis through my work. I already have an Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Administration & Information Technology so I thought the best thing would be go for the next step up which would be the Higher National Diploma (HND) in the same subject. I phoned the number on the South Lanarkshire College, East Kilbride's website to ask what the start & end date of the course would be and the cost because my work needs to know these. After the 1st person couldn't help me she passed me through to someone else who couldn't help who passed me through to someone called Jean Hardie who didn't answer her phone. The girl told me that she's the best and can help me with my query and gave me her e-mail address so I e-mailed her asking those 2 simple questions and got this reply... "Hi Alan Nice to hear from you. Plans for Day Release would be to do the PDA in Office Management and Information Technology as the first part of the award as this will give you the potential to do a level 8 award much quicker than you will get your HND. You need to go from your 12 units to 30 and if you want to get started now there are some options available to you. Tuesday morning is Admin Procedures, there is the possibility of SAGE possibly on a Wednesday afternoon or a Friday afternoon and also in the evening after Easter. On Wednesday morning there is Personal Development Planning. There is also contract law, business law if you're interested in that area. I haven't finalised a timetable yet as the new award isn't released until the middle of April. For most students it would be another 3 years part-time at 6 subjects a year to go from 12 to 30 units. You can do more in a block using nightschool or open learning depending on what's on offer and what workload you are carrying. We're five girls performing a diminutive adaptation of Spring Awakening for our semester exam on Feb 23. We're college juniors (3rd yr univ) for Performing Arts major. If this sounds familiar, I did ask this question last week but now there are new developments. The exam is next week. I'm doing all the work like writing and rewriting scripts, training, editing music, and gathering the props. I'm playing Wendla (the lead character) and directing. The girl playing Anna is the only one who shows up at practice, but she doesn't work well when the cast isn't complete. The girl playing Martha went home interstate for Chinese New Year because it's the only time of the year she gets to see her parents. The girl playing Ilse has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and often misses practices due to sickness; but she never misses work teaching ballet classes. The girl playing Frau Bergmann is working for her mother in law's business, has marriage and financial problems, and is simply not in shape for performing the exam. Recently I dismissed Frau Bergmann from the team for her uncooperative behaviour and rewrote the script. She protested, said that I wasn't being fair for firing her instead of Martha, who is away. I told Frau that's because Martha had permission and we have planned to work around that; whereas Frau wasn't picking up nor returning phone calls, doesn't text unless she needs to vent out her personal problems, and she doesn't practice in her own time. I was supposed to talk to Frau privately today to make sure that we're kicking her out not grudgingly but to lift some weight off her and free her to deal with her personal problems first. To avoid misunderstanding, I didn't want to do it by phone or email so the earliest I could see her in person was today. However, Ilse already told Frau over the weekend that I no longer like her and want her out, so Frau wouldn't listen to any explanations from me and called Anna in front of me to ask her what I had told her. Frau also managed to talk to the lecturer before I did, so the lecturer ordered me to not kick her out. Now I want to kick out Ilse for not respecting my prerogative for communicating decisions, and this has messed up what little harmony was left in the group. Ilse has been missing practice as much as Frau has, but the only reason why I saved her was because she turned up last Friday when I issued her the final warning. Frau did not come but sent me 10 text messages with all her excuses, so she's dismissed, no questions asked. I gave Ilse another chance and she blew it. I need to communicate this to Ilse now because time is running out, but she is not picking up the phone. Today the doctor ordered total bed rest for her. Martha and Anna are waiting for the new, 4 actor version of the script to be e-mailed. However, since Ilse is no longer part of the team (none of these girls know yet), I think I should be modifying the script again to a 3 actor version. Should I email the 4 actor version anyway and apologise for additional modifications once we get to 3 actors? Or should I just email the 3 actor version and explain everything later? How do I make sure there's no hard feelings? All four girls, including Ilse and Frau are very good friends of mine, but I have to be fair with the teamwork. We're very tight knit; I just don't want this decision to create a rift in our friendship because this is like me pushing them off the cliff to fail the semester and re-enroll next year. Also, I don't want Martha and Anna to be intimidated by me and hate me for doing this to two of our best friends. Sure, I can explain to Anna in person tomorrow, but I won't be able to explain to Martha until she comes back on D-Day! And finally, how do I convince the lecturer to accept my decision? She's insisting that I should keep Ilse and Frau because in the real world I will work with difficult people, and the unity of the team is part of the tests will have to pass. This exam is no exception. But I disagree, because if actors in Broadway treat rehearsals the way Ilse or Frau do, I'm sure they'd be fired right away and the director would either replace them with new actors or write out their characters altogether; because it is the director's job to ensure that the show goes on no matter what. I was trying to think about why the Democrats kept pusing for government socialized internet access and based off of the other behavior of Obama, Bush, and even Clinton I realized why. The private companies providing access makes it harder for the government to monitor who searches what when and to more heavily monitor the internet. One of my customers used to work for the White House under clinton in the data mining department. He said that when people would search the internet they could monitor everything they surf including bank and credit card information. I was shocked by this, but it brought everything together for me. This can be effective in combating terrorism, but is a massive invasion of privacy if misused. For those of you that were afraid of Bush listening in on your phone conversations, this should really scare you and is much more invasive to me. What if you write something they do not like? I'm not realistic about money, I basically am not in alot of debt, but the little I am in, I never seem to get out of. I'm very creative and active, but never stick with things long enough to become successful. I'm ultra ambitious, but a channel I spoke to recently suggested I need to be more realistic about things and develop frameworks to ensure I follow things through etc. I suppose the question is, how can I become more realistic, I meditate, I do yoga, I've resolved huge emotional stuff for myself over the past 8 years and I'm so much more grounded now than I ever before have been, I'm getting alot better at managing my money and yet, prompted by what this lovely channel said, I feel a little UGH! She said, it's time for me to plan for the next part of my life, the adult part and actually work on creating some physical security for myself. The thing is, as usual, none of this was new to me, but I felt like I was doing pretty good, I've just started working for myself, in the personal development field, which I know is my purpose and I'm gifted at working with people and reading them etc. so that's great. My grandmother has commercial land up for sale. She recently decided to use her land and start a business. She contacted Mr. B, a local "community development" type of consultant that would aid her in navigating through the system, put together local developers, and contact lenders. He coordinated a group of said people to discuss the plans of her business. Mr. B had my grandmother sign an office-made contract at the last minute. The contract (in short) states that he would perform the duties of contacting people, providing resources, and dedicating time to putting her business ventures together. The contract stated that he would receive 10% of development sales and property alterations because of his services. The business project fell through. The lenders couldn't lend the amount she needed and the developers Mr. B gathered stated she wouldn't profit (barely break even). She did not continue with the business plan. Her realtor, outside of Mr. B's scope, found a prospect buyer of her land. Mr. B states he is still to receive 10% of the sale because my grandmother signed a contract. His services had nothing to do with the buyer the realtor was able to produce. Mr. B's services did not produce a buyer, lender, or anything. Is he legally entitled to 10%? My grandmother was pressured into signing (she owed him 2 months of fees). She is not an educated person and was ignorant of the different aspects of the contract. I was working for an estate agent and my boss insisted that I answer the phone in a way that gives the impression that the office is terribly busy, even when we had one client a day. And my AS results are nothing to shout about either, however I'm sure I can get at least AAB at A level if I try hard. So I would basically be completly relying on my personal statement to wow them. I've got a fair amount to put on there, to make up for my grades I took hours of IQ tests for Mensa and managed to get into there showing that I must have some intelligence, in the same year I completed the Potential Royal Marines Course which you need one heck of a lot of determination to do. From the age of five, I was so sure a doctor was what I wanted to be. My plans changed, however, when I was taken off the yellow brick road and led in a new direction. I was placed in a pharmacy tech class the first day of my senior year of high school instead of the clinical rotation class I signed up for because that class was full. Rather than loathe this whole experience, I decided to make the best of it. When the class was over, I knew everything I thought I knew about my future plans, hopes, and dreams had changed. I came to the realization that I did not just want to make a diagnosis for a patient but actually be the person who offered the patient the cure; I want to be that missing link between the pain and the healing. After becoming a certified pharmacy tech, my mouth watered for more. My decision to pursue a career in pharmacy may have come from a simple act of fate in a small town high school, but my passion for it came long before that. It came from a five feet, two inches tall woman known as my grandmother. For me, the happiest place on Earth was next to her. As I was turning eight, my grandmother was diagnosed with the worst type of cancer possible, pancreatic. Unfortunately, at this time there were not a lot of options available in treating this aggressive disease and soon the battle was over. I don’t remember a whole lot during those last few moments but I do remember asking myself, “Why can’t she take medicine like I do and get better?”. My grandmother, like the Good Witch, had just given me my brick road to follow. Today, so many cancer drugs are available and many people are winning the battle with cancer. However, pancreatic cancer still remains hard to treat. For this reason, I would choose to focus on cancer drug research and development. Specifically, I would love to work on a multidrug combination involving many different agents directed at many cellular targets. My time as a chemistry teaching assistant, where I was in charge of leading labs to get the expected results and consulting with other teaching assistants about the execution of the lab, will serve me well when I have to run my own experiments in research or collaborate with others as a team. At pharmacies, I have of course filled prescriptions but my true passion lies in compounding. Pharmacy school can provide me with the first hand experience of compounding which would serve as the jumping board for me to leap out into the research field of cancer drugs. From volunteering at retail and hospital pharmacies to simply the museum, I gained a sense of humanity. Knowing that the service I was providing, whether it was in the form of a medication or reading a book to kids, I felt fulfilled to know that these people may in some small way leave in better condition than whey they arrived. The time I have devoted to helping others is just the beginning. I want it to transcend into helping people locally as well as globally. My long term goals include traveling to third world countries several times a year to bring medicine to areas with poor access to health care. To travel and organize pharmacy expeditions in other countries seems daunting. However, having served as assistant to the manager/ owner of a business focused on bringing vitamins to the public, I learned how to sell the product not only to the public but big corporations as well. I was in charge of marketing and advertisement, which helped bring in a younger demographic looking to get built. I believe these skills will be vital in gaining support to travel halfway around the world to help others. Dorothy’s sudden dream changed her life and gave her a new perspective. Likewise, with the help of one unplanned course and my own Good Witch, I have discovered my true passion for pharmacy and am just as determined to face whatever Wicked Witch or flying monkeys I have to. CASE: SHELL ATTEMPTS TO RETURN TO PREMIERE STATUS The Shell Oil Company, which began about 1912, had been for decades a household name as a quality oil company in the United States. However, by the late 1970s much of its prestige as a premiere company had disappeared. How could Shell regain its high status? In the 1990s, Shell undertook an extensive research effort to find out what it needed to do to improve its image. As a first step, Shell hired Responsive Research and the Opinion Research Corporation to conduct a series of focus groups and personal interviews among various segments of the population. Included in these were youths, legislators, academics, and present and past employees of Shell. The researchers learned that people believe that top companies are integral parts of the communities in which the companies are located rather than separate entities. These studies and others led to the development of materials that Shell used to explain their core values to the general public. Next, PERT Survey Research ran a large quantitative study to determine which values were best received by the target audience. Social issues emerged as the theme with the most support. During the next few months, the advertising agency of Ogilvy & Mather, hired by Shell, developed several campaigns with social themes. Two market research companies were hired to evaluate the receptiveness of the various campaigns. The result was the “Count on Shell” campaign, which featured safety messages with useful information about what to do in various dangerous situations. I never officially terminated that business, but have not received income from it since becoming a W-2 employee in 2005. Can I deduct the items listed above as business expenses? Are they "supplies" or are they section 179 tangible personal property? Since we have not formalized our relationship, or we a partnership or sole proprietors? Rockwell's Thirty-Day Plan By Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. When Eastern Europe broke free in 1989, we all realized just how little thought had been given to the transition from socialism to capitalism. Mises had told us the collapse was coming, and we should have been prepared. As America comes to resemble a command economy, we need a transition plan here too. Yuri Maltsev proposed a "One-Day Plan" for the U. S. S. R. We're not in that bad a shape (yet), so we could do it in 30 days. DAY ONE: The federal income tax is abolished and April 15th is declared a national holiday. The 40% reduction in federal revenues is matched by a 40% cut in spending. The budget is still almost twice as big as Jimmy Carter's. DAY TWO: All other federal taxes are abolished, including the corporate income tax, the capital gains tax, the gasoline tax, "sin" taxes, excise taxes, etc. Businesses boom, and the few legitimate federal functions are funded with an inexpensive head tax. People who choose not to vote need not pay it. (Note: this was a mainstream view in the 19th century.) DAY THREE: The federal government sells all its land, freeing up tens of millions of acres for development, mining, farming, forestry, oil drilling, private parks, etc. The government uses the revenue to pay off the national debt and other liabilities. DAY FOUR: The minimum wage is reduced to zero, creating jobs for ex-federal bureaucrats at their market wage. All pro-union laws and regulations are scrapped. The jobless rate falls dramatically. DAY FIVE: The Bureau of Labor Statistics, like the rest of the Labor Department, is sent to that big hiring hall in the sky. Without detailed economic statistics, future economic planners will be blind and deaf. DAY SIX: The Department of Commerce is abolished. Big business has to make its own way in the world, without subsidies and privileges at the expense of its competitors and customers. DAY SEVEN: The plug is pulled on the Department of Energy. Oil and gas prices plummet. DAY EIGHT: All regulatory agencies, from the Interstate Commerce Commission to the Federal Trade Commission, are deep-sixed. Competition is legalized. DAY NINE: HUD is squashed like a bug. There's a buiding boom in cheap, private, apartments. DAY TEN: The interstate highways reopen as private businesses. Road entrepreneurs price travel according to consumer demand. Using modern technology, drivers get bills once a month. Credit risks-and drunks and dangerous drivers- aren't allowed on the road. Non-drivers no longer subsidize car owners. DAY ELEVEN: Government welfare is wiped out. Bums work or starve. The deserving poor find a cornucopia of private services designed to make them independent. Private charity explodes, as the American people, already the most generous in the world, find their incomes almost doubled, thanks to the tax cuts. DAY TWELVE: The Federal Reserve closes its open-market operations and stops protecting the banking industry from competition. But banks can now engage in all the non-bank financial activities previously forbidden to them. The business cycle, which is caused by monetary expansion through the credit markets, is liquidated. DAY THIRTEEN: Federal deposit insurance is scrapped. All insured deposits are redeemed from federal assets, which include the personal assets of high-level government employees. The threat of bank runs forces banks to keep 100% reserves for their demand deposits, and prudent reserves on all other accounts. There are no more inherently bankrupt banks propped up by the government, at taxpayer expense, and no more bail outs. DAY FOURTEEN: The shaky fiat dollar is defined in terms of gold, with the ratio determined by dividing the government's gold stock by all existing dollars on that day. DAY FIFTEEN: The federal government sells National and Dulles airports to the highest bidder, and stops all subsidies to other socialist airports around the country. All constraints on airline prices and service cease. It costs more to fly during peak hours than off-peak, but overall, air travel drops in price. DAY SIXTEEN: All government regulations that create and sustain cartels are abolished, including those for the post office, telephones, television, radio, and cable TV Prices plummet, and a host of new and unforeseen services becomes available. DAY SEVENTEEN: Centrally planned agriculture, as imposed by Hoover and Roosevelt, is repealed: there are no more subsidies, payments-in-kind, marketing orders, low-interest loans, etc. Farm prices drop. Entrepreneurial farmers get rich. Welfare farmers go into another line of work. The poor eat like kings. DAY EIGHTEEN: The Justice Department shutters its anti-trust division. Companies, big and small, are free to merge – up, down, or sideways. Stockholders can buy any other company, or sell their stock to anyone else. Marginal producers can no longer battle their competitors with bureaucratic weapons. DAY NINETEEN: The Department of Education flunks the constitutionality test, and is kicked out. Private charities set up remedial reading and writing programs for the former bureaucrats. Federally subsidized sex education and other anti-family programs go out of business. Local school districts become responsive to parents or close, pressured by a fast-growing private school sector (which many more parents can now afford). DAY TWENTY: All federal monuments are sold, in some cases to non-profit groups based on the Mt. Vernon Ladies Association, which owns and runs George Washington's home. The VFW buys the Vietnam memorial. There is much bidding for the Jefferson and Washington monuments. Nobody wants FDR's, so it's torn down and the land sold to a farmer. (With the federal government cut back to its constitutional size, much of Washington reverts to productive uses like agriculture, as in late 18th century.) DAY TWENTY-ONE: The computerized financial and political dossier maintained by the government on every American is erased. The public wanders through the federal offices to make sure, in a reprise of the East Berliners' visits to Stasi headquarters. DAY TWENTY-TWO: Equal rights are granted to all Americans, even members of non-victim groups. There is no affirmative action, no quotas, no set-asides, no public accommodations laws. Private property and freedom of association are fully restored. DAY TWENTY-THREE: The EPA is cleaned out, with all "clean air" and similar big-government laws repealed. Ten thousand lawyers leap from their balconies. Private property is established in air and water. Americans harmed by pollution are free to sue the polluters, who are no longer protected by the federal government. DAY TWENTY-FOUR: Americans are given complete freedom of contract, restoring rationality to malpractice and product liability law. DAY TWENTY-FIVE: Government scrambles for more assets to sell (i.e., the National Zoo, also known as Washington, D.C.) to pay off the liabilities of the privatized Social Security system. DAY TWENTY-SIX: Porno artists have to earn their own livings, as the National Endowment for the Arts tries to raise its budget through sidewalk painting sales. DAY TWENTY-SEVEN: Foreign aid is outlawed as unconstitutional, unjust, and un-economic. Foreign politicians have to steal their own money. The World Bank, IMF, and United Nations close their super- luxurious doors. DAY TWENTY-EIGHT: The American people are given the unrestricted right to keep and bear arms. DAY TWENTY-NINE: The Defense Department is reoriented towards defense. American troops come home from all around the world. We adopt a policy of armed neutrality, remembering the Founding Fathers' teaching that we could not have an empire abroad and a constitutional republic at home. DAY THIRTY: All tariffs, quotas, and trade agreements are put through the shredder. Americans can trade with anyone in the world, without barriers or subsidies.
