Honeywell looks to profit from new fuel-tank safety rule

Honeywell manufactures a fuel-tank safety device that is required to be installed on all aircraft within nine years under new FAA rules, and the Arizona company could sell and install the device on up to 5,110 planes. The device replaces flammable oxygen with inert nitrogen in the fuel tank and greatly reduces the risk for fuel tank explosions. The cost of compliance with the new rule for the airlines is estimated to be more than $1 billion. Arizona Republic (Phoenix), The (07/29)

Stress-less tips for new entrepreneurs

Answer: One of the biggest surprises that comes to someone leaving the corporate world and entering that of an entrepreneur is just how much there is to do . . . and there is no one else who is going to do it for you. It can easily become both a source of frustration and overwhelm, taking you away from what the passion that brought you here in the first place. In order to keep yourself focused, Janet Neal of The Professional Women's Center in Montclair, N.J. has these tips:

1) Focus. What is your No. 1 priority? If you can identify this (and in a business, it's usually to make the money to sustain it!), you can always use that as a guide.

2) Prioritize. Use a system which helps you decide what absolutely needs to be done today, what could wait till tomorrow and what could wait until whenever you get to it. more

How To Register A Business Name Questions asked

Open Question: I want to start my own make up line?

The purpose of this is to start my own business by opening a web shop with my own cosmetics. I will be making these (mainly loose eye shadow) products myself. I don't know if I have to register anything, such as the name for the company and products or need to get a license. Who do I need to go to? I mainly need an answer to this as I don't know what the regulations are for this in the UK. I would also like to know if someone knows any suppliers of cosmetic jars for a good price, in particular 5 gram jars and where I could get labels or stickers printed with the company's logo and name (or is there a device that will allow me to do this myself). This goes in particular for the stickers as they will have to fit on the jars. Please note that I'm not interested in reselling make up, I will be making the products myself and just need help on finding jars and stickers. Some help on setting up a website would be helpful too as I don't know if and how I can do the layouts, pages, etc. I would love some help on this as it has been a dream of mine to produce my own cosmetics and I don't want to mess it up. Other tips are appreciated as well =) more

Open Question: From paper to product ?

Open Question: How do I correct the problems I now have with Yahoo profiles and how it effects my mail?

Apparently Yahoo made changes to how they structure the profiles part of how they do business. I created a profile name and didn't like it. I added another "sub-name" to that and everything was dandy. Now, when I send mail (or everyone else who did with that sub-name address), it wont go through. I NEED that sub-name for business and personal reasons. Can anybody help me? I'm afraid to delete the name from the original "main" name and only HOPE that I can register that name as a MAIN name quickly. HELP! I've not been able to get an answer from Yahoo. more

Open Question: I fired my web designer but she wants paid for renewing my domain name early. What's your opinion?

I found out a while back my web designer had my domain name registered under her name. From everything I've heard that is unethical. Also, I was always very confused about her billing and kept asking why I was being charged so much more than expected. She actually responded by telling me off in email. At one point she mentioned being "stuck" with her. I've wanted out of this relationship for years. At the end of February she informed me my domain name was scheduled to renew March 3rd. I wrote back that I "needed to ask her some questions and would contact her soon". On the renewal due date, I decided not to renew and informed her such, and that I didn't want her to continue hosting for me. I stated I would send her my final hosting payment. She wrote back instructing me to add another $20 for the domain renewal since she "had already done that on my behalf". So basically she renewed it early without my permission. I asked if it was in my name, and she said she would transfer it for me if I have another designer in the future. I replied that I would pay for the domain renewal if there weren't going to be additional "transfer fees", and I wanted to finalize our business now. She replied that she would transfer it AFTER I paid. I asked a second time if she planned any fees for transferring, and how long a transfer would take. She hasn't responded. I feel like these are reasonable questions that deserve an answer? Should I go ahead and pay her for renewing early and trust her to transfer it, or just go with a new domain name and forget it? more

Resolved Question: suspended license? PA/NJ?

okay i'm gonna try to make a long story short, i used to live in Pottsville, PA. my boyfriend at the time asked me to register a truck for him in my name for a landscaping business. At the time I only had a EXPIRED SUSPENDED NEW JERSEY license, and the state of PA still let me register it. The truck ended up breaking down & got a ticket for abandoning of veh. I moved back to NJ, renewed my NJ license & I was paying my fine for months on time, PA informed me that I was over paying & to not worry about it for a couple months. Okay fine, months go by and they never sent me a letter stating how much I still owed or anything. I recently got a letter in the mail stating that I'm $70 behind and that they suspended my license on the 22nd. Can they do this?? I also just checked on the Motor Vehicle Commission for NJ, it says my license is fine, and i owe nothing! more

Resolved Question: Another Odd Japanese Question?

OK, I was interested in getting an inkan registered in Japan for business purposes. OK, simple enough. but I am wondering about if one should get it in Kana, or simply in the normal English. Again, this would be used for legal and business purposes? My first name is Ken, which surprisingly does have an equivalent in Japanese, although I am not sure of the Kanji. The rough equivalent name is Kensuke...which has the same literal meaning and the Celtic "Kenneth." Obviously just a coincidence, but I am wondering about how to write my name in Japan. Is a Western signature acceptable in lieu of the inkan? Thanks again.@Lutlam: The problem with using the kana is that most US names are long. I mean, Kenneth would take up most of the space. Then we have the middle initial and the surname...so my inkan would be the size of a tennis ball. LOL more

Resolved Question: Can someone help me understand this?

Doubtless, there is a universal justice emanating from reason alone; but this justice, to be admitted among us, must be mutual. Humanly speaking, in default of natural sanctions, the laws of justice are ineffective among men: they merely make for the good of the wicked and the undoing of the just, when the just man observes them towards everybody and nobody observes them towards him. Conventions and laws are therefore needed to join rights to duties and refer justice to its object. In the state of nature, where everything is common, I owe nothing to him whom I have promised nothing; I recognise as belonging to others only what is of no use to me. In the state of society all rights are fixed by law, and the case becomes different. But what, after all, is a law? As long as we remain satisfied with attaching purely metaphysical ideas to the word, we shall go on arguing without arriving at an understanding; and when we have defined a law of nature, we shall be no nearer the definition of a law of the State. I have already said that there can be no general will directed to a particular object. Such an object must be either within or outside the State. If outside, a will which is alien to it cannot be, in relation to it, general; if within, it is part of the State, and in that case there arises a relation between whole and part which makes them two separate beings, of which the part is one, and the whole minus the part the other. But the whole minus a part cannot be the whole; and while this relation persists, there can be no whole, but only two unequal parts; and it follows that the will of one is no longer in any respect general in relation to the other. But when the whole people decrees for the whole people, it is considering only itself; and if a relation is then formed, it is between two aspects of the entire object, without there being any division of the whole. In that case the matter about which the decree is made is, like the decreeing will, general. This act is what I call a law. When I say that the object of laws is always general, I mean that law considers subjects en masse and actions in the abstract, and never a particular person or action. Thus the law may indeed decree that there shall be privileges, but cannot confer them on anybody by name. It may set up several classes of citizens, and even lay down the qualifications for membership of these classes, but it cannot nominate such and such persons as belonging to them; it may establish a monarchical government and hereditary succession, but it cannot choose a king, or nominate a royal family. In a word, no function which has a particular object belongs to the legislative power. On this view, we at once see that it can no longer be asked whose business it is to make laws, since they are acts of the general will; nor whether the prince is above the law, since he is a member of the State; nor whether the law can be unjust, since no one is unjust to himself; nor how we can be both free and subject to the laws, since they are but registers of our wills. We see further that, as the law unites universality of will with universality of object, what a man, whoever he be, commands of his own motion cannot be a law; and even what the Sovereign commands with regard to a particular matter is no nearer being a law, but is a decree, an act, not of sovereignty, but of magistracy. I therefore give the name "Republic" to every State that is governed by laws, no matter what the form of its administration may be: for only in such a case does the public interest govern, and the res publica rank as a reality. Every legitimate government is republican;10 what government is I will explain later on. Laws are, properly speaking, only the conditions of civil association. The people, being subject to the laws, ought to be their author: the conditions of the society ought to be regulated solely by those who come together to form it. But how are they to regulate them? Is it to be by common agreement, by a sudden inspiration? Has the body politic an organ to declare its will? Who can give it the foresight to formulate and announce its acts in advance? Or how is it to announce them in the hour of need? How can a blind multitude, which often does not know what it wills, because it rarely knows what is good for it, carry out for itself so great and difficult an enterprise as a system of legislation? Of itself the people wills always the good, but of itself it by no means always sees it. The general will is always in the right, but the judgment which guides it is not always enlightened. It must be got to see objects as they are, and sometimes as they ought to appear to it; it must be shown the good road it is in search of, secured from the seductive influences of individual wills, taught to see times and spaces as a series, and made to weigh the attractions of present and sensible advantages against the danger of distant and hidden evils. Voting Question: Does this paper look okay?

[business complaint letter for a school assignment] 5 Hill Street Madison, Wisconsin 53700 February 15, 2010 Ms. Lidia Marks President Lidia’s Soups and Sandwiches 123 Blossom Lane Boston, Massachusetts 01234 Dear Ms. Marks: My name is Jill Smith. I have visited your branch at 545 Main Street often over the past five years and have enjoyed the fast service and high quality of the food. Unfortunately my last visit was unpleasant. I would like you to reevaluate how you train your new employees and enforce the company’s policies. On February 16th, 2010, I came into Lidia’s Soups and Sandwiches to order my usual meal and noticed that the new cashier was wearing rubber gloves while operating the cash register. I watched as he took the money from the customer in front of me with his gloves on, and then proceeded to prepare a sandwich for her! He did not take his gloves off, wash his hands, and put on a new pair of gloves before he touched the food. When it was my turn to order, I told the new employee that I would appreciate it if he took off his gloves and put on a fresh pair before he prepared my food. The boy seemed annoyed by my request, but did as I had asked of him. When my order was ready the employee did not inform me to have a nice day or even smile. I left feeling disappointed. Ms. Marks, with a stronger training system, your employees will not only understand the importance of following the state's health code properly, but also server your customers with a smile. This will ensure that customers are happy and will want to come back. If I have another bad experience at Lidia’s Soups and Sandwiches, I’m not sure I will be coming back. Best Regards, Jill Smith more

Resolved Question: Points on a license I dont even have! (I wasnt driving the car either!)?

Hello I got a car on HP which a friend was using for business. The car has recently been sold on again because this 'friend' did nothing but run red lights and park illegally and all the fines came back to me. I had to pay them because she wasnt paying them and the car was in my name and I wouldve had baliffs at my door. The car has now been sold on but Im still getting letters about unpaid fines (fines she said she would pay but obviously hasnt) On friday I had a letter from the courts saying I'd been stopped by the police but as I didnt produce my license Im now going to get 6 points on it. I dont have a license and probably never will. My friend has obviously been stopped and given my name and address because at the time the car was still registered to me. Im confused how the police allowed her to drive on when I dont have a license and my name wouldnt be in the dvla data base?? Im assuming this is what happened. I now cant get hold of my ex-friend because shes moved house and hasnt told me where shes gone. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? Many Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Best Practises for Recording Expenses & Organising VAT Invoices?

We have recently formed a limited company and intend to register for VAT, as we have a lot of expenses where we could reclaim the tax. Since our business is internet based, many of the purchases are also made online. Some of these purchases are from international companies without a VAT number, some are from international companies with an EU VAT number, while other purchases are from UK with VAT numbers and others without VAT registration. When we are recording these expenses, what is the best way to organise all the records? For example, we can save a web page as a .pdf file or take a site screen shot as evidence of a VAT receipt. When saving these, do we separate each invoice into folders sorted by year, month or by company name (save all invoices from ABC company into one folder and XYZ company into another), and do we break it down further with separate folders for 'UK / non-UK / UK VAT / non-UK EU VAT / etc'. When reclaiming VAT it seems that we have to show totals for UK VAT, EU VAT, and even non-VAT applicable expenses. Some advice on how to save, organise and record these expenses would be appreciated. more

i have been researching on how to buy a website for days... and i still can't find a conclusive answer... please help me so the most popular ways i heard of buying a website is through a ISP or domain registrar is there a way for me to have FULL ownership of my website? domain registrars seems too much like a business... and it does not seem like a purchase... it almost seems as if they are registering the domain name that i want and renting it to me for an annual fee... please explain this process to the best of your ability... thank youim basically asking how this is done properly like how big corporate companies do it...$76 per year? i thought i was $10 per year... so what is the ISP all about? more

Resolved Question: Do I need to register a business name? What about tax time? (Queensland, Australia)?

Hello all I'm researching and writing a book and am starting to have some expenses that I want to deduct if possible, since there's no profit here yet! For instance, I need to travel overseas this year and part of the trip will be in connection with this research. It has been advised by business people (not accountants) that I should claim these as business expenses. I'd love to, but have no idea if I need to register a business name (I would simply be using my own name-- eg, sole trader-- Lisa Smith, for example) in order to do that. If not , lovely-- but then how do I claim that as business expenses at tax time? I still have an ordinary, full time job. And do I need to tell Centrelink anything if I do this? I want to do everything right and above board. Appreciate any advice you can give. Please ask if I haven't given enough info. And if you answer, please advise source of your info! Many thanks! more

Resolved Question: Is this a scam? Just seems like there is to much info for it to be a scam. Here are the emails sent to me.?

Hello Don. I am very interested in it. The only thing is that I will not have th money for it until February 15th; you know taxes. I only hope that this is not a scam. My question is, how will we do the trading? If you could get back to me with, like you said, more pics, VIN, and I would like to know the mileage on the car. And is it a straight drive or an automatic. Please reply as soon as possible. Resolved Question: How do I endorse a business check to a personal checking account?

I run a small web hosting and design business, and I accept my payments through PayPal and just put them in my personal checking. I had a customer who was months overdue, and after sending them a statement, they finally paid up. The problem is they wrote a check, and it's written out to the name of my website (which isn't a registered business name). I don't want to ask for another check, because I like to represent myself as a company and that would be unprofessional. How do I endorse the check so that I can deposit it into a personal checking account? Can I just write "For deposit only to the account of ###Personal Checking Account Number####"? Please help me :) I have Citizens Bank, and the business who wrote me the check is also with Citizens Bank, if that means anything. Thank you! more

Resolved Question: DANGEROUS SCAM IN LONDON UNITED KINGDOM - BE VIGILANT, STAY AWAY?

I HAVE FALLEN VICTIM OF A MASSIVE DATING SCAM CALLING THEMSELVES ESCORTS4HER. The scammers claim to be recruiting male escorts for European business ladies coming to England for business purposes. On a daily basis they advertise their scam on THE DAILY STAR. Once you call their number which is 0203 283 8801 you are greeted with a warm welcome and asked some questions about your physical appearence, your personality and what you are willing to do with a lady. The interviewer will tell you how impressive you are throughout the conversation and evetually tell you that she recommends that you register with them on condition that you pay £249.. The claimed return on that is that you will be booked by ladies requiring male escorts and paying you £120 per hour. If you tend to hesitate registration, you will be getting a series of calls every hour throughout the day, being told that one of the ladies requiring escorts has accepted your profile. The website of these fraudstars is www.escorts4her.com They are engaged in ciminal activities by fraudulently obtaining money from people all over UK. Prior to giving my money to these scammers I tried to do an investigation, I don't know how come I eventually got fooled by these criminals. Voting Question: Can you get insurance for a dog walking business if you're a minor?

I have read everyone's responses thoroughly, to every one of my dog walking questions, but I wanted to make sure that all of this IS for 14 year olds? How much is the insurance and how can I get it? Is 14 old enough to get it? And any sort of contract (this is in Australia). Would the insurance be any different to normal health insurance? I know I don't know much about it yet, but I'm not planning on starting this tomorrow, or next week, I'm still going to look into it a lot more. Another thing is, everyone has been talking about contracts, insurance, some said things about tax and bonding. Being only fourteen, and having a simple business, would I need all that? It'd only be in my neighbourhood. In my neighbourhood I don't think there are many dog walkers since I've never seen any posters or advertisement on it. I'm planning to have people call and tell me when they want me to walk their dogs, I'll have a book especially to write everything down in, get the name, breed, address, maybe phone number, (can anyone think of anything else I may ask), then my friend, sister and I may go a bit earlier to make sure we know how to get to the house, then when the time comes, pick up the dog, take it for around 30 minutes or an hour, charging $5 per hlaf hour, then bringing the dog back, maybe with a report on the dog, since it would be fun to do :D. It wouldn't be an actual business with an office or anything, so would I have to register? And would I have to do those things I mentioned before? Also, sorry for asking too much but when clients called to book their dog, and I ask them al the questions(name, breed, address etc.) how would I ask them. I can imagine them thinking that being only 14 and not like a proper business, it's unnecessary? Or would they be happy knowing their dog is under the care of people who care? I understand that being 14, we might not get many clients, but the client knowing that we are walking their dogs in the familiar lake in our neighbourhood (where everyone walks their dogs), would that help? Thanks so much everyone.I sounded very malinformed on the questions to ask, above. I know also I will have to ask about health issues, behaviour with other dogs, people, training, spayed/neutered, etc.Thank you all, and Hoshiko, yours so far has been the easiest to understand. Just another question, do both I and the client have to have a copy of the agreement? more

Voting Question: Does he sound like a cheater?

about a year ago me and my husband had a argument and i couldn't understand why but i was so upset with how he was treating me in the midst of the argument that i basically threw my wedding rings at him, well later we tried to work our differences out and he gave me back my wedding rings, but something about the whole ordeal did not sit right with me, because he kept asking me why did i throw them and i told him that i was angry hurt and upset, and wanted him to feel a sting of pain. but he wouldn't accept my answer and kept questioning me about it, it was as if he wanted me to tell him something else but i had no clue of what he was trying to insinuate , so the more he questioned me the more suspicious of him i became and something told me to check his phone and when i did i found a text from a girl asking him was he coming out to see her at a club. she also had called him 2 days after the text had registered.( both from a long distance number) i called the number and a girls answered the phone but i was to in shock to say anything so i hung up. i got on our computer and found that during the time of our argument he had searched divorce sights and a sight that had the same name as the club she referred to. I later realized that the club was a strip club, so i confronted him of my findings and he told me that he didnt know what i was talking about So i countered him and told him that the club had a different number so he told me it was to book entertaiment for his friends stag(which he had told me about prior to our argument) but i told him that i never heard of a business texting people and told him that i'd call the number and we could just get this cleared up but he insisted that we talk, so in my emotional state i chose to listen to him he went onto say that the call was for them to come view the girls for the party. and as far as the divorce site was concerned he thought i was gonna leave him after the argument so he was trying to see what happens in divorce, so yeah i started to believe him and i figured i was overreacting because had he knew her he wouldn't be searching the club she was talking about right so decided not to call back since i started to believe him. But then i started thinking about the fact that he had told me that his friends was suppose to go this club 2 weeks prior to the text and call and i thought so why would the text come now thats just stupid so i decided to call the number again and this time i was gonna say something(this was only a week later from the discovery of the text)but to my surprise the number had been changed so now i was pissed, because deep down i felt like he wasn't telling me the whole story and then i wandered why would the number be changed if this was a legitimate business number used to get guys to the club.. so i confronted him again he told me that i was crazy and he had no idea why the number was changed and that i'd never find anything because there was nothing to find....so again i let it go so 2 months later someone called our home and he rushed to grab the phone after he hung up he said it was a recording calling about health or medical something another... then he left to go to the bank.. well i called the number back and it said that the number could not be reached by this method so i hung up and asked one of my friends how could a number call me but i cant call it back and she told me that it was a pay phone... so over the next few days a few more calls came through but i never was there when they did but every time i'd call them back and the same thing would happen so i called our house one day from a payphone just to test it he answered and i hung up, so when i got home i called it back and it said the same recording the others did so i confronted him about the payphones calling and he went onto say that he knew nothing about that but a payphone had called today(via myself) so we argued but in the end i came up with nothing once again but heres the thing we been together for years and i truly want to believe him but it just doesn't add up it makes no sense... and something about his eyes when i first confronted him makes me believe i am right, he told me that i was wrong about everything but his eyes told another story. and as much as i search i never find anything out about the owner of the number...but his eyes are just embedded in my memory for him not to have done anything wrong his eyes looked sorry but his words seem more like what i wanted to hear what do yall think i try to move on but i cant until i piece it all together any suggestions opinions im confused more

Resolved Question: ip addresses question?

So here's the deal. I work for a family business, and there's this trashy website everyone in my small town likes to look at. There have been people speaking lies about our business, kind of helping out the new competition. I'm worried it's the competition speaking ill of us, so this is my question. The person who moderates this website (although they actually don't censor ANYTHING) has openly admitted that they can find out who (because most people just use the name anonymous) has posted a comment by looking at the registered name from the ip address. So are they lying, or can you do this? I only ask because I wanted to see who spoke the lies about us, so is it possible? And if so, how could you even find out their ip address? Added note: Please only answer if you can help. Answers submitted only for points WILL be reported.Thank you for the answers so quickly, and to ded: it was absolutely not an insult. I've just posted answers on here many times and got answers like: I don't know, Who cares, could you explain more (to a question that was fully explained), etc, so thank you for answering! Resolved Question: *Important* Wrongful Termination!! + SEARS Tape Evidence!!?

First of all, this question is about my mom. Answer as best as you can. We live in Alabama, but what are the laws in your state? ----------------------------------- Get to know the Manager who was terminated first.(In order to understand ) She seems like a nice lady, but she stole and committed fraud countless times at the store she worked at. The people who were over HER knew what she was doing. They let the Evidence pile up on her, and then they filed a police report against her. But as she was escorted from the store, she yelled. "I don't know why your just firing me, you NEED to be watching (My mom's name and her co-worker)!!" Because she was a manager, they started to look get suspicious towards my Mother, and her coworker. (Keep in mind, that situation had NOTHING to do with them.) Basically, "If I'm going down in front of people, I'm bringing someone with me." My mom was fired, and the other co-worker she mentioned is still working. ------------------------------------------------ Back to My Mom She has been working for SEARS for a long time. (Full - Time Worker) A week ago, from today, she was fired. It was her day off, and they called her in. She got dressed and was there w/in the same hour. (She is a big role model for me. <3) 20 minutes after working while clocked in, they called her to a private office to discuss a tape with 2 managers. She was confused. 2 Reasons for Fire (Supposedly) *Tape was shown of her making a fraudulent refund. (Cashier) -They showed her the tape, and then she corrected them. They ruled it as a computer glitch. She's innocent. The drawer popped open, and she closed it. It was supposed to stay closed. Computer glitch. The customer swiped her card, no money was even to have been given! *Tape of her giving a Manager (Mentioned Above) a refund WITHOUT the merchandise (Cashier) -They would not show her THAT tape. They said "it was PENDING against the other Manager" who was already fired. (Read Question 1 Below) No matter how she begged them to see the tape, they would not show her. They told her that she was on tape operating the cash register when the fraud was committed. They did not see the merchandise. My mom told them that she remembers being there when the refund was being given. She even told them that she knew what clothes she brought back. They also said that she let the Manager walk out of the store with the merchandise. (THAT IS NOT MY MOM's DUTY! She didnt even know... They have security officers for that..) So, my mother was fired on the spot.... They also said it was going on her record as a Felony!!!! (But no police report was filed) (Question 2) She came home a wreck!! She is the main provider of the house. I help with my little job, but it's not much... Question 1.Doesn't that mean its pending against my mother also? She proved them wrong the first time, she wanted to defend herself on the second one. Kind of strange right? We were told, that legally, they were supposed to show her the second tape if they showed her the first one and she proved innocent. (I think the tape was fake) Question 2. If you are supposedly fired for fraud and theft of merchandise. Wouldn't a warrant arrest be filed on her the moment they found out? Kind of Fishy... Mom even called coorprate and they said they would look into it. NOW the managers are getting written statements from ALL of the workers that know my mom. They are telling them what to write. Something on the lines of: how the managers did not spread my mom's business around. WTF?? Your telling them right THERE that my mom was fired!!! Dumb move... >_>Why would they need to do that in the first place? I believe the Managers think they are getting in trouble, and they are getting scared. :( So they are spreading my moms name around the store EVEN more trying to protect themselves! Being reckless.. Even if they DID offer her job back. I wouldn't let her go... They would just try to find a real reason to fire her out of spite.. Ex. Your 3 minutes late, your fired... We just need a good reference so that we can find her a better job.. :( To make her happy again. I am wondering.. Do we have grounds to sue? She was wrongfully terminated, We have been suffering because she can't find a good job... Crying, upset, bills, WE HAVE TO LIVE, etc. (They gave bad work reference) The managers that fired my mom, is spreading the incident around to the other workers.. Everyone thinks she is a theif..When she's not..she's innocent!! They did NOT show her the reason why she was fired. They showed her one tape, but did not show her the other one. They are destroying her character! She's not the same anymore.. :( I'm her daughter, I would know. What do you think should be our next step in this? I don't think she wants that job back.. Just to be treated fair, her name to be cleaned, an appology, and a lesson to me to not takLook at a calander!! The supposed theft was on December 18, 2009. The Ex-Manager was fired around January 5-8, 2010. My mom was fired January 9, 2010.(I may not EXACTLY have the dates correct. I dont want to bring the subject back up to my mom. She's finally kind of calm.)She just told me that one of her ex-co-workers just called her! I have NO idea on how they got our number! lol She confessed that it was actually HER(co-worker) that did the refund! My mother is innocent again! But my mom's co-worker was not fired... She even said to the managers, "That is my employee number on the receipt.I did the refund, if you want to be mad, be bad at me. The Ex-Manager brought a LOT of clothes to the cash register, and they were later put back on display by another worker. The refund was legit." This is a blessing! I KNEW she was innocent! Now everyone else will know too!So, does that mean that even if they already GAVE a reason, they can make up another one? They never mentioned anything else BUT the tapes. :( And the PURE REASON has to be on paper doesn't it? Thank you for your answers. Please keep them coming. I need answers from all angles. more

Resolved Question: What steps do I need to take to get my small business(idea) off of the ground?

I'm a student, but in the near future...to help me pay for college. I plan to have a small office cleaning business. A small investment and a couple hours of work in the evening will help me with my tuition. What steps do I take and in what order? For example, what legal aspects need to be covered? So far I've been told to ??register my business?? and obtain insurance. Could someone breakdown how to register my business...(with who? on a state/county level?) and what type of insurance is required? I also have an idea for a name...and I think it's catchy and will 'grab attention'. I see no one else with it...and I want to make a claim for the name myself. I don't plan on beginning my biz anytime in the near future, but I want to ensure that I can 'hold' this company name. Can I go ahead and do that? If so, HOW?...and how much, and through who? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. more
