The state Department of Health and Senior Services has designated four Virtua Health hospitals as primary stroke centers.

The designation was awarded to Virtua Memorial Hospital Burlington County in Mount Holly, Virtua West Jersey Hospital Marlton in Evesham, Virtua West Jersey Hospital Voorhees and Virtua West Jersey Hospital Berlin.

To be selected as a primary stroke center, a hospital must demonstrate successful evaluation, stabilization and emergency care for patients suffering from acute strokes.

Department of Interior Awarded Over $430 Million in Small Business

The report examined three tenths of one percent of contracts the DOI had reported as going to small businesses during 2006 and 2007 and found that the agency had awarded Fortune 500 corporations $5.7 million in federal small business contracts.

According to the DOI Inspector General, divisions of Xerox and John Deere had misrepresented themselves as small businesses within the government's database of federal contractors as small businesses. Section 16 (d) of the Small Business Act states that any large firm that misrepresents itself as a small business for the purposes of obtaining a small business contract is guilty of felony contracting fraud and subject to a penalty of ten years in prison, a $500,000 fine per occurrence and debarment from federal contracting programs. Based on a review of the report, the ASBL believes contracting officers at the DOI intentionally falsified information entered into the Federal Procurement Data System - Next Generation (FPDS-NG) as a means of fabricating the DOI's and the Bush Administration's small business contracting statistics. more

Business confidence slumps

Business confidence slumped in June to the lowest level since the September 11 terror attacks in the US, as rising inflation and a grim outlook for the global economy dash hopes of an upturn in business activity.

The National Australia Bank business confidence index shrank for the sixth consecutive month, contracting 5 index points to -9, down from May's -4 point reading. The drop in confidence hit most sectors except mining, and was pushed lower by weak retail activity.

The result came in well below the zero level, under which the gauge gives a bearish assessement.

Confidence in the business sector is now at its lowest level since September 2001, when the index stood at -15.1. The index peaked in October last year at 19.5 points.

''The slowdown underway gained further momentum in June - importantly, rising spare capacity and higher unemployment - with significant further slowing in prospect,'' Jeff Oughton, head of NAB economics, said. more

Open Question: Who do I contact to report a bad business/ non registered who doesn't pay their employees in florida?

I need some help with something that happened to me. I worked for a man who who hired me with the assumption that I would eventually be on the books but for 90 days he wanted to pay me cash under the table. The guy had me work for over three weeks total. For the first week that I worked there, he paid me $300 cash about 3 days late. The second week that I worked he kept stalling on paying me claiming that the stuff we had worked on for his clients hadn't been paid by the client. So, for a while, I bought it ... until the bills came due. Then, I demanded that he pay me and he wrote me a check. I deposited it into my account and paid my bills with it ($300). Well, a few days later the check came back out of my account stating that the account was no longer or some reason (i haven't received the notice in the mail as to why as of yet). So, I told him that the check that he wrote was bad and he claimed that he would take care of it every day for the next few days. Well, needless to say, he didn't take care of it. Then the next day when looking for work, i found an ad for the job that i was supposedly still holding. I contacted him and explained that i wanted my money and that i was done. They have now been stalling for days, have set up appointments to meet me and pay me and then canceled or wont call me back. ive done my research and they are not a registered business under the name that they are under now... and the business on the check that they wrote me was dissolved. So he knowingly wrote me bad checks and wont pay up. So, who do i contact (in Florida) to take care of this? I want to do a few things, such as report the business as not registered report the check as being bad report that i wasn't on the books report that he owes money report that he doesn't have insurance on employees or himself and get my money, at least for the check and the NSF fees Any help is appreciated... So I was going over my states form for registering a business name. So I started filling out the form, it seemed pretty easy for the most part. so, a few friends and i go to this pizza place in downtown la, i won't say the name, but it rhymes with Rocket Pizza. we sit at a booth (we sit ourselves because the waitress didn't). wait a few minutes (about 10min to be exact) for her to gives us our menus. it doesn't happen. my boyfriend goes to the register and gets a couple. three more of our friends show. she comes as soon as they sit down. takes our menus and says, "i'm sorry, but, we're closed." Like most immigrants they came to the United States with no money in their pockets, but dreams in their hearts. My parents met each other in high school. My dad had already graduated and was in college when my mom discovered she was pregnant with my brother. She dropped out of school and my dad dropped out of college to get a job. For the next eight years he worked for an auto-body shop doing whatever his boss asked him to for whatever his boss offered to pay. My mom on the other hand found her niche as a Registered Dental Assistant. She found a good paying job because of her talent. My parents went from living in a one-bedroom house with about four other families to owning their own home; eventually, homes. My sister was born in 1998 and two years later our family found their way to Salinas, California where they bought a small business that they now own and operate independently. I admire my parents for their hard work and perseverance; it makes me think to myself, “How can I not succeed?” I have been offered so many more opportunities in my life than they were offered in theirs and to not take advantage of those opportunities would be outrageous. My parents read to me every night when I was a child. They encouraged me to read on my own when I was older. I maintained perfect attendance records throughout elementary school and beyond. Education has always been the most important thing in my parents’ eyes. However, it has also been important to them that I become my own person and not a clone of them or anyone else. My parents influenced my creativity and individuality. They allowed me to take up such hobbies as gymnastics, piano and tennis among many others. This helped me to decide what I liked and what I didn’t. Another important aspect of how my parents raised me is they never instilled their own political or religious beliefs in me. They wanted me to discover on my own what I believed in and they always let me research things on my own. Be it by reading Wiccan books to attending Catholic mass; watching CNN or Fox news. The way my parents raised me has influenced much of what I will do with my life after high school. I intend on entering college this fall with an undeclared major. I have many interests but I am especially interested in working with either young children, animals or the environment. I know that with the degree I will earn from a University of California, I will improve the lives of people in my community and beyond. I am well-prepared for the coursework required to maintain good grades in college. I am aware that I haven’t always had the best grades in high school and I accept full responsibility for that but if given the chance, I am confident that I can do better in college. I have far more potential than what is featured on my high school transcripts. I am the type of person who takes the initiative when it comes to my learning; I am dedicated and self-motivated. I formed a LLC in the state of North Carolina and another business which is registered under a different name has a web page which refers to themselves as my company name and then takes them back to their web page which then displays their registered name. They are doing this to drive traffic from my company name. I formed my LLC after the existence of their site which refers to this name, but again they are not registered under my name nor DBA as my name. Voting Question: How do I settle a business judgment/debt?

I am in my early 20’s. I decided to give my 30 year old brother the benefit of the doubt even though he has screwed me and other people in the past. I went into a partnership with him, mainly just knowing the trade that we were involved in. Let’s see, where do I start. He claimed that he set up the business correctly, registering, FEIN etc. So far he has, pocketed money from customers that should have went for supplies, lied to customers, never finished things he started, now caused us to have a judgement against us from a supplier, didn’t register the business name, never finished a job he was supposed to and never told me, cost us a whole lot of money, stole more money AND DID I MENTION cost us a lot of money. I also found out that when he registered tax wise with the state, he used only his name when listing the partners and also used somebody else’s social security number. It wasn’t even mine. I really thought that my brother cared about me but now I am finding out the true psycho path that he really his. Anyway, I need to know the right way to go about settling the judgement with this supplier. I don’t want anything to happen to my assets, plus I have a family to protect. NO! I never signed anything. The only thing is the judgement order came to me in October. Apparently, my brother was ordered to appear in court back in May, but never told me. I plan to resolve things with the customers and suppliers. more

Resolved Question: Could someone help me fill out the registration form for a small dog show?

Its not a CH show, just a small one run by the local club. I have a Japanese Shiba Inu who came from an excellent line and the breeder sold her to me for pet only, but has since offered to take her to Ch shows for me and we feel little practice at the small shows would do her the world of good. Only thing is I have never been to a dog show never mind running a dog in one. I am new to the whole business and have 3 registration forms that I have no idea how to fill out. I think I under stand that she will be going to the Japanese Shiba Inu Puppy, Graduate and Open. I think.... and If there is no Shiba class then it the A.V Utility N.S.C Puppy and Open. That sorts makes sense to me. the part that's getting me is on the guidelines to fill it out it says "All dogs must be register at the Kennel Club in the name of the exhibitor" now because she was for pet I was under the impression that the KC Doc would not be issued, I know she was registered but I assume it would be under the breeders name. But when she said I could show her in small shows for practice its obvious that's I would be need to tae her in, but the breeder would be doing it in the Ch shows... I don't think I understand it all. I mean I understand the reason she wants to take the dog in is because she bred her and if she wins I understand its her name that's praiseded, but she bred her so that's totally fair! I guess all I want to know is... Will my application for this show be accpeted, if I fill it out in my name as she is my dog, my name is on her chip etc the only thing is the kennel Club registation. Hey so we bought the car on Saturday because that was the only day that everyone was free (he is always busy mon-fri because of work so we couldn't go during normal business hours) and drove it back two hours.... problem is halfway home we were stopped by the cops that gave us two tickets and a court date..... I had the money for the registration and insurance the problem was the tag agency isn't opened on saturday.... and the cheapest alternative (because i ONLY have the money for the registration and insurance after buying the car) was driving it back and hoping I don't get pulled over... Both tickets are for 91 dollars one is for no tag/registration the other is no proof of insurance and the court date is for no registration.... I have a couple of questions.... I'm in florida..... I do have insurance but for the cars that are registered in my dad's name.... was I still covered? My best friend drove me there and I guess cuz he looked like a little thug the cop was more interested in him then asking me if I had any proof of insurance before he gave me the tickets (which he didn't explain until he said it was too late to change anything) so would that qualify as some sort of temporary insurance coverage like someone else posted?? 2nd.... I have to go to court about the registration and on the forums it said that in florida they drop everything and make you pay the court costs as long as you get in registered n insured before then (which i had planned on anyways) I was wondering if anyone new if they dropped the two 91 tickets too or if they just dropped the other impending fines.... Here's the situation: I took in my papers to register my car and get it licensed, and they said that they needed the seller to sign it with his name, because he had only signed it with his business' name. I bought the vehicle from a city 3 hours away! So, I need to mail the papers, have him sign them the correct way, and then mail them back. But I'm worried that I won't get them in time, before my sticker expires! (The one that you have until you get your plates) What can I do?? This is the busiest time of year for mail, and I only have like a week before my sticker expires. Do I just not drive my car, if I don't get the papers back in time? I don't know how I can do that with my job. But I don't want to risk getting a huge ticket and getting into trouble! Does anyone have any advice for this situation? What would you do? The car is for my boyfriend but the car loan is in my name, its registered to me and I had insurance on it from Geico. Geico cancelled my policy because he didn't stay on top of things, So now my boyfriend claims he put the insurance in his aunt's name but I don't know how true that is. but how can he put it in his aunt name if its still registered to me and doesn't he have to return the plates back to motor vehicle? Actually I have a friend whom I know for quite a number of years.But I find that he is not as attached as I am.Let me give you a few instances:When it is decided that we have to meet,I first have to give him a call in the morning say around 11am.Then we decide on the phone the rendezvous where we usually meet.But this is not sufficient.When I reach there at say 12noon I have to again give a call to him and tell him that i have reached.He then starts and i have to wait for him say for about 30 mins.This is the routine everyday.Now suppose it is the other way round.He never waits for me. When it is the time to pay the bill i always take the lead.Rarely i find that he takes the initiative. He is unmarried and i am also the same.I got myself registered in various matrimonial places and i never forgot him and took him to various locations in the city on my vehicle.But he never remembered me.Also he never said lets go on my bike. Once he indirectly wanted to help him in one business venture but without i getting involved in it. He is a teacher and i am also a teacher.I always recommend his name in whichever institute i teach but he never recommends my name in the institutes where he teaches. Recently i am trying to contact him but his phone rings and he is not picking up the phone.His phone is having some problem but can he not give a call(he gives a call for not more than a minute from a booth). When he intends to talk to me on phone it is i who have to respond to his miss call and when i give him a miss call he either does not respond or calls for only a minute.When i give him a call,i don't even consider how long i am talking. I am a member of a team of public relations specialists and recently we came up with an idea to start a fan club for an artist which we all admire and believe in as a way to increase publicity and to allow us to throw in some PR as well. I submitted a proposal to their management who approved it. He has since stated that he would like for us to work with him, he wants the final say as to what goes on the site, and he has given us the okay to be official. He has taken the liberty of registering the domain name himself but would like for us to get someone to do the site probono in exchange for all of the exposure they will get.Upon the first meeting he asked for our SS#'s so that he could draw up legal documents but we haven't seen any documents. We worked at an event for the artist, were given all access passes, but did not meet the artist which was not our goal. Our goal is to work but when he saw us at the event he didn't even acknowledge us though we had just met with him. This is not some fly by night person. He is very well known and established in the business and his artist is VERY well known as well. My team is professional and experienced but not when it comes to dealing with someone of this stature. Can someone please tell me what we should be expecting? Also, should we draw up a contract on our side and have him to sign it or should I send him a letter stating our terms and ask for him to have a contract drawn up under these terms? Terms such as: Providing transportation to and from events that will be worked etc...? Legally what should we be doing? What documents or contracts should we be working with?
