Technoserve Serves a Dish of Proserity to Swazi Farmer
Here is Technoserve's short documentary on work that they are doing to help a Swazi entrepreneur build a baby vegetables farm and bring jobs, income and opportunity to his community.
TechnoServe helps entrepreneurs in poor rural areas of the developing world to build businesses that create income, opportunity, and economic growth for their families, their communities, and their countries.
Technoserve is also one of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's most recent funding recipients. In January 2008 they received $46.9m in grant funding to help small coffee farmers in East Africa to increase production and gain access to global buyers markets.

Eaton shows off hybrid units
Several heavy-duty truck manufacturers including International Truck and Engine, Paccar and Freightliner are moving to adapt the Eaton system.
James Ray, deputy administrator of the Federal Highway Administration, said new technology such as that demonstrated by Eaton, outside of the Eaton Innovation Center in Southfield, is critical to the United States.
Ray also used the stop in Southfield to discuss a proposal that could change the way federal resources are allocated to transportation projects.
"Without a doubt, our federal approach to transportation is broken and no amount of tweaking, adjusting or adding new layers on top will make things better," said Ray, who noted that federal gas tax receipts are now declining because Americans are driving less.
The Department of Transportation proposal would eliminate dozens of smaller programs and focus federal resources on specific priorities - such as maintaining the interstate highway system, tackling urban congestion and building a transit system in urban areas. more
Purdue Plans Multidisciplinary Entrepreneurship Conference
Purdue University's Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship is organizing a workshop next month on encouraging entrepreneurship across many disciplines. The event titled, Achieving Multidisciplinary Entrepreneurship, will include sessions on initiating programs that connect universities and campuses around the state. The August 19 workshop in Plainfield is open to college and university representatives.
