Movie magic, marketing shoot Batman to record
LOS ANGELES: The Dark Knight, the new Batman film based on a comic book hero invented 70 years ago, has powered the US box office to a new record and proved Hollywood's uncanny ability to continually repackage old stories into treats that audiences find irresistible.
So much for the advent of the internet, the digital video recorder and YouTube making cinemas obsolete. Over a single weekend, The Dark Knight earned $158.3 million as US audiences flocked to the dark tale of a caped crusader who saves Gotham City from the evil machinations of his arch nemesis, the Joker.
“This is really a watershed event," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of the box-office tracking firm Media by Numbers.
“Not only is it the biggest opening weekend of all time, it helped make this the biggest overall movie weekend of all time. more

Open Question: Help with the name of my new business?
I want to start a small jewelry, handbag/purse business for women. I plan on offering mainly costume jewelry, all the new stylish trends and also rhinestone handbags and belts. I might expand to other things eventually, like candles or who knows so I don't really want jewelry to be in the name of my business. I'm having a hard time coming up with a name as when I search the internet, alot of the names I have come up with have already been used before in other business's. Right now I don't plan on opening up a physical store, I mainly want to do trade shows, internet sales, and maybe home parties. One of these days, if it becomes a huge hit, I could open my own store. I have been trying to come of with names using either diva or chic, and also designs or fashions. If any of you have any ideas that you might want to share with me to help me, I would greatly appreciate it. moreOpen Question: What do you think about this story opening?
It is ironic that the moment my sister died from a heroine overdose I had become addicted to it. At her funeral I sneaked the rest of my privately purchased heroine into her grave. And it worked. I don’t understand why, but it did. I stopped taking it. I just had to imagine my sister lying dead in her coffin and that was enough to fuel my desire to stop. I had always wanted her to be cremated. I didn’t like the idea of her buried beneath the earth for all the worms and small insects to feast on her. I do not believe in a form of the after life, so the only way I could have sought comfort was through keeping her ashes safe. My parents ignored my plight and opposed me, so she was buried. I still have nightmares about her coughing beneath the cold earth, crying out my name. I have to block out my mind and pretend not to care. “Raise the weight above your head,” ordered Clementine, my physical therapist. “Back down.” The weight was firm and unbelievable heavy in my warm hands. I steadied it gently before doing as she said. I had missed the feel of doing weights, but it was harder now that I was confined to a wheelchair. Harder how? I didn’t have the freedom to use my entire body. “Fain Achari, I do believe that you are bleeding.” I looked down and recoiled in horror. I had jarred the left part of the weight into my right leg and it was bleeding profusely. I couldn’t feel a thing. The only sensations I could still feel in my paralysed legs were hot, cold and occasionally numbing pain cramps which kept me in bed for weeks on end. It was a lot for a sixteen year old like myself to take. I wheeled myself to the bathroom and got a wet towel. I place it on my wound and it was immediately stained in an unattractive crimson colour. “I ruined your towel!” I called, quite embarassed. “No worries,” she replied coolly. “Just sort it out, would you?” The feeling of not feeling is a weird one. It both troubled and delighted me. “What are you taking for your A Levels again?” she demanded as I came back into the room. “English Literature, Physics, Business Studies and Art.” I took the weight again and made a vow to never lose concentration like that again. It was horrific enough the many injuries I had sustained. I did not want to create any more. “You have very strong arms.” Clementine leaned against the wall. “Thanks, I guess.” I raised the bar again, choosing a heavier weight. She shook her head at me but I ignored her. I wanted to challenge myself. The muscles in my arms ached as I pushed the weight up and down. It felt good to know that I was using a weight which an able-bodied person would find very difficult. I wondered how I felt about becoming ‘disabled.’ What an ugly word. I preferred the term ‘handicapable’ which seemed to be only used in America for people who also took offense to other less sensitive descriptions. I went to a school where it was commonplace to refer to people in quite rude ways. Some one like me was a ‘cripple.’ On the outside I responded with a quick smile and a ‘I couldn’t care less’ expression, but internally I longed to give them the finger or at least punch them. It’s probably a great thing that I could hold back my feelings. moreResolved Question: Another Character Name?

Last weekend I went to visit some friends of my parents. Their dog had just had a litter of puppies 6 weeks ago and we were going to play with them. We had visited the same puppies two weeks earlier but they were still pretty small (and slow/sleepy :). At 6 weeks of age they had begun to develop those sharp little puppy teeth, and of course we were all covered in little marks by the time we left their house. None of them seemed to have broken the skin. The next day I was back on campus when I noticed a scratch on my right arm (near the wrist). It was rather red and looked puffy. I kept an eye on it and towards the evening it started to puff up more and became rather itchy. I put an antibiotic cream on it and put an ice pack on it to reduce the puffiness. The next day it looked like it was getting better, but I wanted to make sure I hadn't caught anything from the pups, so I went to my free campus clinic. When I got to the clinic I explained what had happened, and the nurses immediately insisted that I had to fill out a vicious dog bite police report. Now keep in mind that these are purebred ($$$) pups with the highest pedigree, house-raised and whelped by experienced breeders, who happen to be close family friends. The scratch measured less than half an inch, and no longer showed signs of irritation. But the nurses refused to let me do anything until I fillled out the form, so I simply put down the breed of the dog, the age, and the first name of one of the breeders (I lied and said I didn't know anything else about them; address, etc. I had no intention of having them even slightly bothered by the police (breeding is one of their sources of income, and ANY police report could damage their business). The nurse looked at my arm and proclaimed it fine (duh) and then let me go. However, when I came home this weekend my parents told me that they had gotten a call from the County Health Dept. declaring that we HAD to contact the owner to have the dog tested for rabies or they would charge us a $100 fine. Now, I'm not a rocket scientist, but charging $100 for a puppy scratch (which I have no idea which puppy it came from, btw) is ridiculous. I won't contact the owners (under any circumstances), and I need to know how I can convince the County office that I'm fine (nothing wrong) and want to "drop the charges" or whatever the procedure is. Is there a (polite, legal) way to do this? Thanks for reading. (...I am seriously regretting that I even showed the nurses the scratch...)Don't worry, the puppies are in no way at risk. Most of them are going home this week and the rest should be gone shortly after. I wouldn't try to get them in trouble; I'm only asking how can I get rid of this stupid fine. (I am still very much against contacting the breeder). moreOpen Question: I need some name ideas for my new site/ business?

I have a El. Ed. degree with little to no hope of finding a job in this economy any time soon. I live in IL and teaching jobs are now near impossible to land since there are well over 500 applicants for a single job. I've been feeling very hopeless this past year and don't know what to do. I'm considering alternate careers but don't know what is out there. My passion is Children's and Y.A. literature. What jobs are out there that involve this and what certifications do I need? (I'm not an author). I had a professor at my junior college years ago who taught a class on children's literature that really sparked my passion. I've always wondered what her degree was in and what else she does but I can't remember her name and I can't seem to find any information about her. I'd be interested in publishing but I have no idea what that business is really like. Any ideas, guidance, experience or information would mean so much to me. Thanks.I see that Illinois State offers a Masters in English - Children's Lit...but realistically, what can I do with that degree? http://english.illinoisstate.edu/childrensLit/I am looking for steady, full-time work in a position that will allow me to afford to live on my own. Okay so I have to do this business plan for history (it's due TOMORROW and I'm just barely starting). We have to think of a product to sell, a company name, likely customers, methods of production, and number and type of employees. I have nooooo idea what to do. I'm too tired to think of something by myself. :) moreOpen Question: Why do my siamese cats act like this?
Alright, I promise to try and make this as short as humanly possible. Cat #1, Lola: About 3 years ago, my mother bought a Blue point Siamese cat. When she was a kitten, she was very loving and playful. As she grew, but still in her kitten days, her playfulness began to grow more and more aggressive. Eventually as she grew older, her aggressive playfulness turned more and more into what seemed to be just pure anger. She slowly stopped cuddling up next to you, and would only come near anyone when we were all sitting down in one certain area. By this time, she had developed this low growl that would trail off, and be followed by hissing. This continued as she would run away from anyone that came near her. So, from this point, (and still to this day) she continues to be an unfriendly, and highly unsocial cat. The only person who is allowed to touch her, or pet her, is my mother. I assume this because my mother is the primary caretaker of her. I'm just curious as to what could have turned her into such an evil little thing! Cat #2, Rosie: About a year after adopting Lola into our family (her unsocial, unfriendliness was at it's highest peak wayyy before we decided to get another cat.), we brought how a little Chocolate Point named Rosie. She really is the sweetest thing, other then she just seems to be deathly terrified of, well, everything. She runs and hides a lot. Although she comes out from time to time (usually when everyone is stationary, just as Lola), she is very cautious of everything that is going on around her. My mom thinks this is due to when she was a kitten, her litter was kept out in a barn, being kept from much human interaction. All in all, I would just like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to why our cats are like this, and if there is anyway to help turn around their attitudes. As i stated earlier, the cats prefer my mother since she feeds them and changes their litter box. They both usually get along with each other, unless Lola is feeling a tad territorial at the time. At which point Rosie gets the idea and goes about her own business. But, that was more then I would have liked to have to tell you. Any suggestions help! moreOpen Question: Is this true about republicans?
The 14 characteristics are: 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism they tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, they persuade that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism Their governments tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under republican regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy. 6. Controlled Mass Media Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined Governments in republican nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected The industrial and business aristocracy of their nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a their government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed . 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts Their nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment Under their idea of governance, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in their idea of authority figure. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption They are almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections Sometimes their elections ations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Republican nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. source: http://www.ratical.com/ratville/CAH/fasci14chars.html moreOpen Question: Help with a name for a sort of small business?

The idea was mine..but I love my sister so we are in this together :) . We plan to set up at various craft fairs and sell our wares! I've gotten one suggestion so far...and i'm not sure how I feel about it "Meagan Mallows" It's kinda...lame lol. Help please? Maybe something dumb like " Sweet sisters" or does that sound dumb?? and please... I ask you kindly...if you don't have anything nice to say....don't say anything at all.We are in New Hampshire! My husband has always been a bit...different. He doesn't like to socialize and is easily angered, and very verbally abusive once angered. We were young when we got together and I wrote his name-calling and insults off as being immaturity. It has been 8 years and things are only getting worse. Now with just the verbal abuse (which is a seperate issue I am trying to handle) but with other instabilities as well. He has become increasingly paranoid. It has gone from thinking everyone is staring at him, to everyone is talking about him, to everyone is plotting against him, and now a new person cannot even be introduced to him without him going on about how they mean to do him wrong somehow. Worse, he thinks people are spying on us, in our own home! He starts up these "fake" discussions with me to "throw them off our trail" (he invents things that didn't happen or will start talking about things that make no sense, like our friend so-and-so's business degree when this friend of ours is only a high-school graduate and works as a cashier). only I don't know when they're fake so I don't know to play along (and usually am confused) and he gets FURIOUS with me and starts yelling at me and going on about how the neighbors and people are listening and I ruined what he was trying to do. I don't know what to do about this and I am starting to feel really on edge myself. I can't bring myself to have these "fake" discussions but if I try to get him to stop he get so ANGRY at me. I have been unable to convince him people aren't eavsdropping on us. He remains certain they are and gets mad just when I say that because "they" with hear me say that. So I tell him that they should hear me say it cause if "they" are eavsdropping they are in the wrong and should know we know about it. But he doesn't see it that way. This comes and goes. Sometimes a week will go by and I wont hear anything about it. Then there will be a few days where he doesn't want us to do any talking in the kitchen cause the neighbors will hear, or he's sure someone is outside our window listening. This spills over into his work life too. He has a good job but is sure everyone on his team has it out for him. If his boss schedules a meeting that is not in the normal schedule he thinks he is getting fired. If a new employee is hired he thinks it is to replace him. If his boss has a meeting that he isnt invited to he thinks it is because they are talking about him. I feel like living with this day in and day out is wearing on MY mental health as well, it is so stressful. There is no convincing my husband to just relax, that things are okay, that no one has it out for us. I have brought up seeking a professional with him and he is agreeable up until the point of actually DOING it. He won't see a therapist. He doesn't want to take any drugs. Sometimes he can get mean and violent. He's never hit me but he's shoved me multiple times, thrown things at me, and he cusses me out and calls me all kinds of names and degrading things whenever I make him mad. He does this right in front of our toddler child. Recently our child has been standing right next to him screaming and hitting me when he sees his dad looming over me and yelling in my face (husband is six and a half feet tall and likes to loom and point when yelling). When I point out to husband how our child is acting when he yells my husband just says it's because our kid doesn't like how I tread him (my husband). I know that this is not truely the case but my husband seems convinced of it. I can't just leave. I think my husband would truely fall apart then. Plus I am a stay at home mom with no resources of my own. No car, no money, no family within 2,000 miles, I have no where to go. I've been to the local domestic abuse center and they said they would help but they don't actually help (I think they just wanted my info because it get's them more funding) I've contacted them multiple times but I've never heard from them. They told me they could get me counseling, public assistance and a place to live but they've never come through or even gone beyond the initial paperwork with me despite my multiple attempts at contact. And they seem to have high turnover and every time I call or meet with them its a new person who has no idea about anything we prevously talked about beyond my initial paperwork. I'm frusterated! I need ideas! I need a direction! Someone please point me!Yes, he drinks caffine. No, he is taking no perscription meds at the moment. moreOpen Question: Need a name for my art business!!!?

I have a powerpoint....what major info am i missing??? You can briefly skimm what I have...you don't have to read it all...but please help i have the title page then some info on who he is.... Constantine's original name was Flavius Valerius Constantinus, also known as Constantine the Great or Saint Constantine. He was an emperor and a military leader Constantine was famous for being the first Roman Emperor to profess Christianity. Constantine's support of religion helped transform it into the institution were it’d remain throughout the Middle Ages. then i said - Constantine raised with Christianity (which was NOT legal) to the status of a "permitted religion." He took a direct interest in matters of doctrine, setting a precedent for future emperors, and called the first Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church (at Nicaea). He built churches after the pattern of Roman temples and public buildings. He also returned to the Christians the property they’d lost during the persecutions of his predecessors, and promoted and favored Christians in government jobs. His sponsorship of the religion made it suddenly advantageous to be a Christian. then i briefly explained why constantine is 'great' - ‘The Great' is a title given to Constantine I by the Roman Catholic Church in recognition of his role in establishing Christianity as the dominant religion in the Roman empire, the basic foundation for Christianity becoming the dominant world religion, particularly in the West, later on. then how he spred christianity Constantine was the first openly Christian Roman Emperor He popularized the slogan In Hoc Signo Vinces (In this Sign Conquer) the reference being to the sign of the Cross His soldiers had a cross on their shields then Although he is well known as the first Christian emperor. He allowed practice of all religions, Interestingly enough, he put both pagan and Christian symbols on his buildings and armor. then Constantine I never converted to Christianity himself. Most considered he was, but he wasn't baptized until 25 years later. Today, Constantine wouldn't count as a Christian without the baptism. A frequently asked question: Was the deathbed conversion of Constantine the act of a moral pragmatist? "Constantine was enough of a Christian to wait until his deathbed to be baptized. He knew that a ruler had to do things that were against Christian teachings, so he waited until he no longer had to do such things. That may be the thing that I most respect him for." - Kirk Johnson or a duplicitous hypocrite? "If I believe in the Christian god, but know that I will have to do things which are against the teachings of that faith, I can be excused for doing so by postponing baptism? Yes, I'll join Alcoholics Anonymous after this crate of beer. If that isn't duplicity and subscription to double standards, then nothing is." - Robin Pfeiffer A much debated question, but the impact of his actions on the succeeding history of the Church is beyond doubt. then Constantine first passed a law that Christianity would simply be tolerated. Later he made it the official faith of the Roman Empire, in the process standardizing the faith based mostly on the views of Paul. He himself converted only on his death bed. then Constantine looked at christian religion and christ as a war God and not God of love. He still loved to worship apollo. However, he stopped financing temples of other roman gods but appolo. It is known that christian believes were taken from the Torah. Even though a small part of Torah was taught by jesus. The ideas were full of humanity and civility especially for those times. Constantine was a revolutionary. then 313AD Constantine and Lucinius issue the Edict of Milan for the first time making Christianity legally equal to all other religions of the Empire. Hence, no more torture of Christians. 326AD Constantine kills his son, nephew, and his wife. 330 AD Constantine moves his capital to Byzantium later called Constantinople and now Istanbul strengthening the power of the Roman bishops over the Western Half of the Empire. then Under Constantine, any girl who ran away with her lover was burned alive. Any chaperone who should assist in such a matter had molten lead poured into her mouth. Rapists were burned at the stake. But also their women victims were punished, if they had been raped away from home, as they, according to Constantine, should have no business outside the safety of their own homes. then Crispus was suspected of having adulterous relations with his stepmother Fausta, and was therefore executed. Constantine's wife Fausta (who had remained a pagan) was executed on Constantine's orders by being suffocated in an overheated bath. Constantine had his son Crispus and his nephew Licinius Jr. jailed then killed. There's a girl who works at a store I stop by quite often. I've seen her talk to other customers, and she casually goes about her business and smiles. But when I go up to the counter, she makes prolonged and deep eye contact with me, smiles, and kinda laughs under her breath. Here's me scenario: I walk up to the counter and buy something. While she looks at me, I say something along the lines of, "You know I've go in and out of here all the time and I see you a lot, but I don't even know your name." - reply - "It's nice to officially meet you ----." The next time I see her, I'll say "Good to see you again ----. How's work been going today? - reply - "You know, I'm sure you get this kind of thing a lot....but do you think it would be ok if I could call you sometime this weekend?" If response is positive, then success. If she's seeing someone, I can say "Of course you are. He must be a lucky guy. Have a good day then." If response is negative, I feel that saying "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step over any bounds. It's just meeting a nice and attractive person isn't very easy these days. Anyways, take care" - would let me off the awkward hook. Ideas? Suggestions? Revisions to my plans? Thanks all! moreResolved Question: Okay, so, I have this idea for a book...?
In my book, a giant lobster crawls out of Massachusetts Bay to live in Boston as a white collar business man. He must overcome prejudice to move up through the ranks of corporate society and eventually achieve his dreams. All along the way, he teaches himself the intricacies of human society (such as not eating your neighbor's poodle, and not drinking from the local swimming pool), and discovers the power of love. I think that I'm going to name my story "Lobster in Charge", because he eventually becomes the CEO of his company. I'm also thinking of a sequel called "Lobster in Chief", where Lobster becomes the president of the United States, and has to deal with the threat of nuclear war and global terrorism. My name is Rosa White and this is my story 1.New friend I know that this is none of your business but I want to tell you anyway. I lived in North Carolina in a town call Rocky Mount; I was a freshman in collage two years ago, also I had a boyfriend his name was Chad Hale. He was the football captain for my old collage called Frost MS, are mascot was the bulldogs. His number was number 1, and his uniform colors are Gold and Black. But let’s not talk about this. Let’s go to the day I met Buddy Noel on October 10, 2004 when he was just about to start college. I was leaving from the mall in my new pink sweater, with my black jeans when a robber trying to steal my Gold and Black wallet. When all of a sudden a guy in a black jacket and sweat pants comes out from the mall and sees what happing and the robber see him and start running. But guy is faster and catches him before he goes on the bus to Greenville. He gets my wallet and brings it to me. I said “Thank you very much. May I ask what your name is?” The guy said “You may my name is Buddy Noel but my friends call me Bud and you may also call me Bud if you like and what may your name be?” I answer “My name is Rosa White. So are you new here? Bud.” Rosa smile as Bud says “Why yes I am new I just got out of high school and going to collage here and I think I will like it here very much now that I met you.” Rosa laughs and says “Well I think you are hitting on me and for your info I have a boyfriend who is on the football team and he is the captain. Do you play any sports?” “Well as you just saw a few minutes ago I do run track and do you do any sports?” Rosa said “Well if you count cheerleading as a sport that’s what I do. But don’t tell anyone this but I also play tennis out of town when I say I am going shopping some times.” Rosa looks at her iphone with pink angles on it and says “Well look at the time I have to go before Chad starts looking for me. Oh and one last thing do you have a cell phone?” “I do why?” “Here’s my number (252-469-3598) call me right now so I can get your number.” “I have a camera phone if you have one take a picture of me so when I call you know it’s me?” “All right get ready in 5,4,3,2,1” flash went the camera “ Well bye got to go, call me or see me cheer at the home game on Friday at the Frost MS stadium. You do know where it is at right?” Bud said “I just look it up and map quest bye Rosa” “Bye Bud hope to see you soon.” As Rosa was walking to her BMW her phone ringed with the picture of Chad on it, the ring tone was pretty wings. She answered “Hi Chad is everything alright?” “Yeah just what’d to see are you on the way practice, and what took you so long” “Yeah sorry about that but a robber tried to steal my wallet…” “Oh are you ok did you call the police?” “No but some guy named Buddy stopped the robber and gave my wallet back.” “Ok as long as you are safe. Hey did you know this guy?” “No I had no idea who he was until after he gave my wallet back why do you ask?” “Just what’d to see if you know he that’s all. So did anything else happen that was interesting?” “No not much. I got to go to cheerleading practice. See you soon?” “Yes. Yes you will see me soon. Bye LOVE you!!” “LOVE you too!!” 2.Start to run You kept up so far? I’ll tell if your not, I just met Buddy Noel after a robber tried to steal my wallet but Bud got him before he left on the bus. So we have a math project where my group and I, must have a slogan. We have a idea but we want a more better one. our business name is Blackhawk Technology any ideas?we sell elcectronics my bad moreResolved Question: How can I better screen my bosses calls?
I work for a small, but busy, retail shop and I get tons of calls a day for my boss or manager. Most of them are cold calling telemarketers so I'm usually pretty good at screening my bosses calls, but there are a couple of ways callers catch me off guard and I need to rewrite my script on this. Normally this is how things go: "ABC Company, how may I help you?" "May I speak to the manager, please?" or "May I speak to John Smith, please" "Sure, may I ask who's calling?" "Dave Jones" "Dave, what company are you with?" "I'm with Small Business Solutions, Inc." "Thank you, hold a moment, please." I don't even try to page my boss. He does not want to talk to them. Wait a moment and then. "I'm sorry, John is not available, may I take a message." And then they don't. But sometimes I get those confident direct guys and it will go like this: "ABC Company, how may I help you?" "Is John there?" (Direct question without announcing themselves. Kinda' rude.) "Yes, may I ask who's calling?" "Dave" "Dave, what company are you with?" "I'm a friend of his. He'll know who it is." (His friends will have his cell, also, lotsa Daves out there.) "Okay, may I ask what this call is regarding?" "It's personal." "Hold a moment, please" (At this point, I know they are trouble and my boss will not want to talk to them. I already said he was there, so I'll have to make him busy. After a moment... "I'm sorry, John is not available at this time. Would you like to leave a message or call back?" "When will he be available?" (Worst question. I'm starting to get flustered because I'm busy myself and I have a tendency to hang up on my own personal calls if they are not going my way. But I need to be professional.) "I'm not sure when he'll be available. Would you like to leave a message or call back?" "Well what's he doing?" "He's on the other line. Would you like to leave a message?" Etc Etc. That's kind of a compilation of the bad calls I've gotten this week. Hehe. Oh, and here's another problem. Those information gatherers. My company is named after a person that no longer operates the company personally but I'm not allowed to let people know he's not there. So I'll get those calls where they ask, "Is Mr. ABC there?" I'll say no and ask if they'd like to leave a message. Then they'll ask further questions like "does he have a voice mail?" or "when will he be in?" "where is he?". He doesn't exist anymore, so what do I say? I have no idea. I just say I'll forward the message. So those are my problems. Please give me specific things to say and don't be afraid to point out my stupidity where you see it. I really need help here. Thanks a lot! moreVoting Question: Babysitting Girl - would you hire me?

about a year ago me and my husband had a argument and i couldn't understand why but i was so upset with how he was treating me in the midst of the argument that i basically threw my wedding rings at him, well later we tried to work our differences out and he gave me back my wedding rings, but something about the whole ordeal did not sit right with me, because he kept asking me why did i throw them and i told him that i was angry hurt and upset, and wanted him to feel a sting of pain. but he wouldn't accept my answer and kept questioning me about it, it was as if he wanted me to tell him something else but i had no clue of what he was trying to insinuate , so the more he questioned me the more suspicious of him i became and something told me to check his phone and when i did i found a text from a girl asking him was he coming out to see her at a club. she also had called him 2 days after the text had registered.( both from a long distance number) i called the number and a girls answered the phone but i was to in shock to say anything so i hung up. i got on our computer and found that during the time of our argument he had searched divorce sights and a sight that had the same name as the club she referred to. I later realized that the club was a strip club, so i confronted him of my findings and he told me that he didnt know what i was talking about So i countered him and told him that the club had a different number so he told me it was to book entertaiment for his friends stag(which he had told me about prior to our argument) but i told him that i never heard of a business texting people and told him that i'd call the number and we could just get this cleared up but he insisted that we talk, so in my emotional state i chose to listen to him he went onto say that the call was for them to come view the girls for the party. and as far as the divorce site was concerned he thought i was gonna leave him after the argument so he was trying to see what happens in divorce, so yeah i started to believe him and i figured i was overreacting because had he knew her he wouldn't be searching the club she was talking about right so decided not to call back since i started to believe him. But then i started thinking about the fact that he had told me that his friends was suppose to go this club 2 weeks prior to the text and call and i thought so why would the text come now thats just stupid so i decided to call the number again and this time i was gonna say something(this was only a week later from the discovery of the text)but to my surprise the number had been changed so now i was pissed, because deep down i felt like he wasn't telling me the whole story and then i wandered why would the number be changed if this was a legitimate business number used to get guys to the club.. so i confronted him again he told me that i was crazy and he had no idea why the number was changed and that i'd never find anything because there was nothing to find....so again i let it go so 2 months later someone called our home and he rushed to grab the phone after he hung up he said it was a recording calling about health or medical something another... then he left to go to the bank.. well i called the number back and it said that the number could not be reached by this method so i hung up and asked one of my friends how could a number call me but i cant call it back and she told me that it was a pay phone... so over the next few days a few more calls came through but i never was there when they did but every time i'd call them back and the same thing would happen so i called our house one day from a payphone just to test it he answered and i hung up, so when i got home i called it back and it said the same recording the others did so i confronted him about the payphones calling and he went onto say that he knew nothing about that but a payphone had called today(via myself) so we argued but in the end i came up with nothing once again but heres the thing we been together for years and i truly want to believe him but it just doesn't add up it makes no sense... and something about his eyes when i first confronted him makes me believe i am right, he told me that i was wrong about everything but his eyes told another story. and as much as i search i never find anything out about the owner of the number...but his eyes are just embedded in my memory for him not to have done anything wrong his eyes looked sorry but his words seem more like what i wanted to hear what do yall think i try to move on but i cant until i piece it all together any suggestions opinions im confused moreVoting Question: Any ideas for a slogan? or possible new name?

I have been working at a retail business for about 4 years now off and on. I quit once because I was sick of dealing with all the crap but then came back because I needed the money. Anyway, My boss is a total asshole. I know that everyone hates their boss but I can assure you that its probably unlike what I deal with everyday. The man degrades all of his employees in front of customers, calling them every name under the sun. He hates women, any one that isn't christian, any one that isn't a republican, and anyone that is younger than him or even older than him for that matter. He yells constantly at his mother. To put it simply if you don't believe everything that he does then you are going to get screamed at. Because of all of this many people quit quickly which leaves me working 50 to 60 hours a week or more on salary. I get a day off if I am lucky and if he is feeling charitable. I don't know what to do, this job is stressing me out badly but the last time I quit I ended up back because there weren't any other jobs. Its hard for me to find one while I am working there because he is pretty much my only job reference and he wouldn't take it very well if he found out I was looking for another job. I would be in an even bigger hell than I'm already in. I've thought about turning him in for some of the sexist remarks but it doesn't really do me a lot of good because he would end up firing me or it would make work even more unbearable. Wife and I, married for 20 years (this coming November) have a 19 year old daughter (20 in February). She has now gone to college twice and dropped out both times. In the last year she has dated a KNOWN druggie (who later had stole her debit card and taken $1,200 before getting caught - now running from law), 3 others, and now the new one. The new one is from a BAD family. She has become quite the party girl... and has a "worry about things later" attitude. Now, here is the problem... each time she has moved back home. NO PROBLEM. However, she will not do anything. Wife does NOT agree with a "chore list" for us all to have (we have a 12 year old too). I tried to do the chore list... and later found out that the wife was doing a lot of the 19 year olds chores. Wife also said that it was not fair to give the 19 year old MORE chores than the wife. However, 19 year old was not working-doing sleepovers-wife works 60 hrs weekly. Now, the 19 year old is back for 6 days as of now, and has stayed at the house 2 times. Staying at the boyfriends the other 5 nights. Hasn't so much as lifted a finger to do anything around the house. Wife has told her our RULE that NO-body is allowed in the house when WE are not home. But, she has repeatedly let her new boy in when we are not home. Has CALLED ONE business for a job, has a nearly $700 cell phone bill, nearly $4,000 owed to the college, and I am guessing $7,000 in loans the wife co-signed for. Also, last summer, she was living here, and had managed to save nearly $400 for school after working for 9 months. Wife had taken out a loan, in wife's name (with out my knowledge) for her school, sending food/money to daughter in school (because she refused to work) without my knowledge also. Meanwhile, 2-3 days before we were paid... we would have not ONE dollar for ourselves. I have NO problem helping out the children... after all, that is the parents JOB! But, if the child will not help themselves out... I have a problem. I also have a problem with the "overnight" stays. That is morally wrong and one of the top 10 sins! I also have a problem with her coming to our house, showering, eating, napping, then going out again. This is OUR house and you will follow by our rules. She should be out pounding the pavement for a job. ALL those student loans will be coming due soon... we do NOT have the money to pay them. But, the wife signed on them... so... Am I wrong? Please, be cruel to me if I am... Wife and I will NOT make it much longer... last summer was HORRIBLE. Sorry to say... I know that we will NOT make it through another. For years I've been thinking about investing in a business. At this time, I MAY be able to start my own B & T. What would be your ideas for a name for a B & T?Thanks BC. I've been playing since I was 11- you'd think I'd get something right by now! (lol) I've had some brushes with some famous people over the years- sat in frequently with Tinsley Ellis, members of Lynard Skynard/Rossington Collins, Greg Baril, Derrick Trucks in my home town of Jax. Fl. I once got to sit-in wih BB King & his horn section! Currently I'm promoting David Jones CD. Go check it out- http://www.davejonesontheflipside.com/ And thanks for the compliment. moreResolved Question: Lady made my baby fat?!?
A couple of weeks ago, I needed to go on a business trip that would last a week and a half, but I needed someone to look after my baby girl, Coraline (got the name from Neil Gaiman's great novella). I'm divorced and my husband lives God-knows-where; my parents are dead and I don't have any siblings. However, one of my friends, who is also my colleagues has an on the doll sister who she said would be more than happy to take care of my Coraline. I met her sister many times before; I can't say I honestly like that tall, tanned, heavy chested bleach-blonde...well, you get the idea. But I didn't really have any alternative so I went to her sister's and dropped my baby off into her care. I distinctly remember her saying how "light" Coraline was when she held her. So, a week and a half later, I returned home and went over to pick Coraline up. But when I did, I found her in the highchair, dressed only in her diaper and shoveling baby food into her mouth. THAT didn't shock me; it was that...she was FAT. Seriously, when I dropped her off, she looked much different in weight. But now she's much fatter and bulgier, especially around her cheeks, butt and gut. I didn't say anything at first; I just thanked the lady and took my daughter home, where I really vented my shock. Coraline looked like she'd gained several pounds. She can hardly fit into any of her clothes and so has to spend most of her time dressed in only diapers. I am not overreacting here; my daughter has BLIMPED and I know that lady is to blame. I mean, what do you think? Should I talk to her about it or what? I've got half a mind to have her charged by the police. moreResolved Question: i want to open my own business, of being an asian wedding organiser, i need a business name, Any ideas?
