US Steel names new general manager for business planning

United States Steel Corp. named Deborah A. Grabe general manager for business planning.

Grabe, 44, is responsible for planning and scheduling at all of U.S. Steel's North American steelmaking and finishing facilities.

Grabe started at U.S. Steel in 1988 as a management associate in the company's purchasing department at its Pittsburgh headquarters.

Most recently, she was general manager of procurement at U.S. Steel Kosice, where she oversaw all purchasing for the company's steelmaking operation in the Slovak Republic.

Grabe received her bachelor's degree in 1985 from Robert Morris University, and her master's degree in 1996 from Duquesne University.

(AFX UK Focus) 2008-03-31 09:45 GMT: Ementor targets sales of 200 mln crowns by 2010 from recycling business

OSLO (Thomson Financial) - Ementor ASA said it expects its recycling business to post sales of approximately 200 million Norwegian crowns in 2010, up from today's 25 million crown figure, as a result of an increased focus on "green IT concepts".

"Green IT is a concept under development and we expect to see an increasing impact from this new concept within few years," said chief executive Claus Hougesen.

"In the future, use of IT is expected to increase to make our world more efficient and effective, which means energy costs and the amount of scrapped IT equipment will increase significantly."

This, he said, provides Ementor with the opportunity to play a larger role in the recycling and reuse of IT equipment.

To help improve Ementor's focus on this area, the firm said it has hired former Topnordic director Claus Johansen, 35, to spearhead its new strategy. more

Penang nasi kandar business plummets after SMS called for boycott

A malicious SMS spreading around Penang, urging Penangites to boycott their favourite nasi kandar stalls and restaurants, have caused business in the state to plummet. The SMS had accused nasi kandar operators of backing Umno�s illegal gathering to protest the Penang Government�s move not to carry out the New Economic Policy.

Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Operators Association president Sihabutheen Sirudu Mohamad said today members' businesses had been badly affected by the SMS.

The public, he said, had the wrong information by claiming that nasi kandar restaurant workers were involved in the illegal gathering.

"We lost customers, most notably the Chinese,� he said. "I hope the public will not believe in such rumours being spread by those who are irresponsible."

Meanwhile, the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) denied urging the boycott, condemning those responsible for trying to take advantage and accusing the organisation of spreading the boycott call. more

Hi guys im looking at building a website but i don't know what to call it... All I want to do is create a very simple web page - probably just one continuous page with nothing but text. It's for a bookkeeping business that I'm starting in the Connecticut / Rhode Island / Massachussets area and I already have most of the page designed in a Word document. Is it legal for me to start a small internet hosting business? I've read up on many pages before that such large successful companies today started back when their owner/founder were only 14-18 years old. I am currently 16 years old and have major experience over the internet, marketing, advertising, and college credits over business courses. We know the domain name isn't taken and we just want something simple like 1 page with info about the company, so people will see it when they search on google etc... I don't have any experience building websites, so I need some help. We're looking for something that looks decent, but we don't have a lot of $$ to spend. When looking at sites like Go Daddy, iPage, etc... these all advertise things like free domain for life or 3.95/month. I know these would be easier to build a website on, but is "renting" my domain name the best option? Is it possible to just buy the domain name forever? If I do one of these and they go under, do I still have my domain name to switch to another service? Do these services produce decent pages? I just don't want to get scammed since I don't know much about it. Or would I be better off to just go to a local web hosting company? I made a website about myself. Like a portfolio, and I got an email from a person saying the business name is already taken but somebody who sells jewelry. Well my site is taraleedesigns.com. It is just what I named it. It's not a business name or business intended. There are sites out there that use taraleedesigns too. Now a serious problem with my website and need a very fast reply from an expert. I have my own domain but my web hosting service is from 110mb which is a free. So my free hosting website is mysubdomain.110mb.com (I didn't want to spam here). Now the problem arises: I set DNS name servers to my free website and linked them. So my new domain- mydomain.com points to mysubdomain.110mb.com I submitted mydomain.com to google a week back and the Google robots crawled my website and indexed them. Unfortunately I resubmitted my url mydomain.com few days back. But for the past few days I dont find mydomain.com in the google search engine rather there are cached pages from mysubdomain.110mb.com Now my question is- Is my website mydomain.com takes longer to be indexed because i resubmitted my website? (or) Is my website mydomain.com been penalised because of the duplicate content? (that is my own website mysubdomain.110mb.com that really points to mydomain.com) I guess it should be the second case because I saw some posts in 110mb forum as such. Now can any body help me out to resolve this problem? I do not want google to index my sub domain with 110mb rather I want mydomain.com to be placed again. What can i do?
