Voting Question: NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT ALL PERSONS THAT PURCHASED, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, YAHOO! PAY-PER-CLICK?

WHAT IS THIS NOTICE ABOUT ? IS IT AGAINST MY DOMAIN OR SOMETHING ? AM I IN SOME KIND OF TROUBLE ? I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS NOTICE IS ABOUT ! NOTICE OF CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT TO: ALL PERSONS THAT PURCHASED, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, YAHOO! PAY-PER-CLICK TEXT ADVERTISING IN THE U.S. MARKETPLACE PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE CAREFULLY AND IN ITS ENTIRETY. YOUR RIGHTS MAY BE AFFECTED BY PROCEEDINGS IN THIS LITIGATION. IF YOU ARE A CLASS MEMBER, YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE BENEFITS UNDER THE PROPOSED SETTLEMENT DESCRIBED IN THIS NOTICE. I. Why Did I Get This Notice? You received this Notice to inform you of a proposed class action settlement (the "Settlement") that may affect you. The Settlement was entered into by the parties in an action entitled In re Yahoo! Litigation, Case No. CV-06-2737 CAS (C.D. Cal.) (the "Action"). The purpose of this Notice is to inform you that a class has been certified in the Action and to inform you of the terms of the Settlement. You may have received this Notice because you were identified as a present or former pay-per-click advertising customer of Yahoo! Inc., Overture Services, Inc., or GoTo.com, Inc. (collectively "Yahoo!"). This Notice explains your legal rights, and how and by when you need to act. II. What Is A Class Action Lawsuit? In a class action, persons or business entities known as class representatives sue on behalf of persons or business entities with similar claims. All of these persons or business entities make up the class and are called class members. One court then resolves the issues for all class members, except for those who exclude themselves from the class. The Honorable Christina A. Snyder of the United States District Court for the Central District of California is presiding over this class action lawsuit. III. What Is This Class Action About? This class action was brought in 2006 by several Yahoo! pay-per-click search advertising customers. They allege that customers contracted for targeted ad placements through two products, "Sponsored Search" and "Content Match" (and predecessor products provided by Overture Services, Inc. and GoTo.com, Inc.) and that Yahoo! breached its contract with its customers by allowing Yahoo! ads to be displayed in spyware, domain name parking sites (also known as bulk registration sites), pop-ups, pop-unders, and typosquatting sites. Plaintiffs brought claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, misrepresentation, civil conspiracy, and unfair business practices. IV. Why Is There A Settlement? After several years of hard-fought litigation, counsel for the parties negotiated the Settlement described in this Notice. Those negotiations have included four mediations, the most recent of which was before the Honorable Gary L. Taylor, United States District Judge (Retired). The Settlement was reached only after the parties conducted extensive pre-trial discovery. During the course of the Action, Yahoo! produced over 1.5 million pages of documents and hundreds of gigabytes of data. Yahoo! employees testified at deposition. In addition, the plaintiffs who brought the Action (referred to in this Notice as the "Class Representatives") produced documents to Yahoo! and testified at deposition. In deciding to settle the Action, the Class Representatives and Class Counsel have taken into account the substantial expense and length of time necessary to prosecute the litigation through trial, post-trial motions and likely appeals, as well as the significant uncertainties in predicting the outcome of this complex litigation. Class Counsel believe that the Settlement provides substantial benefits to the Class. Class Counsel believe that the Settlement is fair, reasonable, adequate, and in the best interests of the Class. Yahoo! believes that it has valid defenses to the Class Representatives' claims and denies any liability or wrongdoing. Yahoo! has nevertheless entered into the Settlement to avoid further expense, inconvenience and the burden of drawn-out litigation. This Notice is not an expression of any opinion by the Court as to the merits of any claims or any defenses asserted by any party in the Action. V. Who Is A Class Member? The Class consists of all individuals or entities that purchased pay-per-click text advertising (referred to in this Notice as "Yahoo! Ads") in the U.S. Marketplace, whether directly from Yahoo! or its predecessors Overture Services, Inc. or GoTo.com, Inc., or indirectly from an advertising agent, at any time from May 1, 2000 until September 22, 2009. Pay-per-click text advertising includes the Yahoo! Search Marketing products currently known as "Sponsored Search" and "Content Match," as well as predecessor products provided by Overture Services, Inc. and GoTo.com, Inc. Excluded from the Class are Yahoo!, Overture Services, Inc. or GoTo.com, Inc. customers that did not purchase pay-per-click text advertising in the U.S. Marketplace. (For example, any Yahoo! customer that only purchase more

Resolved Question: Who knew that barrera-autosales.com, autoaven, com and stars-auto.com are the same scamers?

Look at barrera-autosales.com, autoaven, com and stars-auto.com they have made some changes to the web page but it is still a scam site quote Denver News BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009 DENVER -- The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver. According to the BBB, calls have been nonstop and the BBB has sent a "cease and desist" notice regarding trademark infringement to the company because of a fake BBB report the sites link to that falsely shows the company with an A+ rating. The two Web sites list one physical address as 10701 W. Sixth Ave, but that address actually belongs to BBB Accredited business, Automotive Avenues, Inc. Another link goes to 3925 Monaco Parkway, which actually belongs to Cintas Document Management -- a paper shredding company. The two Web sites, www.stars-automart.com and www.autoaven.com, claim to offer sales of repossessed vehicles. The BBB said customers complain that once a majority payment is sent via MoneyGram to a Denver address, the company ceases communication. The company has not responded to the BBB. An Internet check shows the two domain names are registered to a private registration company in Sunnyvale, Calif. The BBB said it sent out the warning because on-delivery and Internet auction fraud were the top two complained-about fraud types at the Internet Crime Complaint Center. "The BBB takes complaints very seriously and does not want any more consumers to be victimized," a news release stated. TheDenverChannel attempted to contact the Web sites without success. The phone number listed on the site goes to a recording, which suggests callers contact them by e-mail. The same section of the stars-automart.com Web site lists a James Stewart as the owner. To protect from online scams, the BBB has the following suggestions: • Verify any organization credentials with the organization directly, (BBB, AutoTrader, Consumer Reports logos, etc.) • Check the company’s BBB report at www.denver.bbb.org or by calling 303-758-2100. Only do business online with websites you are familiar with and that have a positive track record. • Make sure the website has a privacy policy. It will contain agreements on how the information you provide on the website will be used and kept private and secure. Print this and keep it in your records. • The privacy policy may also contain the company’s mailing address. Only do business with companies that provide a sure method of contact, should something go wrong. • Do not wire transfer any payment. Wired funds cannot be traced and therefore cannot be recovered if you are a victim of fraud. • If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint. Please dont fall for this and report them to law enforcement hopefully yahoo will prevent all the pro scammers from entering data on this site.I am only trying to warn people that the scammers come on yahoo and say that they are a good company when they are a scam. If you feel that this is wrong to post this information please send me an emailN I am one of those idiots who fell for the scam. Then the scammers come on YA and tell what a good deal it is. Resolved Question: how do i register a domain name?

Hi, I'd like to try registering a domain name for myself - I want to set up my own business eventually and would like to play around with web design before I dive into the deep end. I'm willing to pay nominal costs like web hosting and domain name registration costs but would like to do the rest by myself. However, I'm at GoDaddy registering a domain name - so domain names are registered for a certain period (like one year?), what does that mean? What happens during renewal time? Do I pay the same costs? Or is the domain name more expensive, less expensive? more

Resolved Question: CName record what is it and how to edit it?

My domain name would be an alias to another site which would be actually handling my customers such as registration, processing etc. My site would just inform about my business, contact info, service etc however account management (account login, creation, updation etc), actual service components would be at another site. The site owner asked me to edit my CName record. I have a free hosting account at Freehostia.com but they allow A and MX record to be edited but not CName records. Do I have to change CName records at my original Domain Name registrar end and then continue hosting the free account with freehostia.com with the desired CName record. Voting Question: What steps do I need to take in order to set up a profitable web design site.?

I consider myself a fairly experienced HTML / CSS Web Developer and I am currently learning PHP + MySQL. I have no trouble setting up a web design site which will include full details such as prices and domain name registration, however I have little experience with how the whole business aspect works. Would I need to register my site with the council or a higher authority and would money made from the site be subject to income tax and other such charges? As I said, I have very little experience on this side of the fence so if anymore information is required in order to get a more clear answer let me know. Thanks. ;) more

Can a website generate money from viewer? How does the whole process work besides purchase the domain name and have a website(like what type registration do you have to go through..idk...). Resolved Question: Private domain registration vs public...Is private registration important?

I'm purchasing a domain name from godaddy and I'm confused as to whether or not paying extra for a private registration is worth it. I understand that if I list under public it will be published in the whois directory but I'm not sure I see the advantage of listing private. Resolved Question: Do-it-yourself website design advice?

I have no experience with website design, but I am fairly intelligent and not too scared of the computer; so I think I can build one myself if I find the right user-friendly interface. Can you recommend a reputable website where I can easily incorporate the following? 1. Domain name registration and multiple e-mail addresses 2. Basic website with links to various pages of information 3. The ability to create a form/registration that can be either completed and submitted online, or printed, completed, and submitted via fax or U.S. Mail 4. The ability to make purchases online using Paypal. 5. Very low monthly fees. This business involves offering classes to home school students, and part of the mission is keeping prices low. Although I do plan to make a profit, it won't be enormous; so $40/month is not a good price for me. It seems that with most services, once you add forms to complete online and online payments, the prices go way up. Anyone know of a good alternative? more

Resolved Question: Domain name registration -- help me get control back!?

I was dumb enough to sign up with an 'easy do-it-yourself online web design' services. You know--'fill in the template online and then you have a wonderful website easy and cheap' sort of thing... It did not work out, which is fine. The problem is that when I signed up, I registered the domain name through this service. Now I want to use this domain name elsewhere on a professionally designed website, but it seems to be locked into the previously web design mentioned service--type it is an the poor, unfinished webpage appears. No one at the company seems to be interested in returning my calls or emails, so I am not sure if I can get this name back. I really need this domain name. It is officially under my name when found on the internet, but I don't know how to free it from this lame website it is attached to... Any advice? I don't know so much about this and it is really important for my business that I get the domain name under my control! Best regards, Jeff more

Resolved Question: How can I get Yahoo to release a domain from a canceled account?

Yahoo canceled my account some time ago. As per their terms of service, I was given no warning prior to this occurring. However, they continued to charge me after my account was closed. Any inquiry to anything at all about my prior account has been answered with a form email (though a different name has been at the bottom each time). As per the terms of service, Yahoo reserves the right to transfer domains to itself in the event of a canceled account, yet they have not done so at this point. If they're going to transfer rights to Yahoo, that's fine, but sitting on it while it's still registered to me, while giving absolutely no answers to any questions, is nothing short of domain theft in my opinion. All I want is to be done with Yahoo, their nonexistent customer service, and their "we cancel accounts just because, and continue to charge you for it" business practices. Can anyone offer a suggestion (besides wait for the registration to expire)? more

Resolved Question: How can I take a UK based webhost firm to court, living in Ireland?

In 2005, I have registered a .com domain with my name, for 2 years. That domain expired in 2007, and as I was going to change webhosts, I never bothered doing it before the domain registration expired, and my previous webhost never bothered telling me I should have done it 1 month beforehand. Now, I have lost my domain. I was expecting it to be released again after 2 months, but it is just being used by firms which are obviously expecting me to contact them and pay a rip off to get it back. Obviously, I am just an individual, but imagine, if I had a business, and was losing business day after day. I really want to sue my previous webhost, but I live in Ireland. Can anbody help, or suggest something, or if you are a solicitor specialized in customer protection, would you contact me, please? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Are there advertisements [of any kind] on Yahoo-registered domain names? Is Yahoo the best to register with?

I'm making a website for my father's small business and I have a few questions about registering a domain name. I've built websites before, but never had my own domain name to work with and I'm a little confused. My first question is where are the best - but also cheap - places to register a domain name? I am planning on using Yahoo's domain registration service, but if there's some place I'm missing that's better, please feel free to tell me! My other, more important question is this: will there be advertisements of any kind on my domain name, if I register it on Yahoo? Let's say I register the domain name dadsbusiness.com and use basic HTML to upload a few web pages - will there be any popups or any ads on the site itself? I've looked all over the Yahoo pages devoted to domain name registration and I can't find the answer to that ANYWHERE. Anyone who can tell me, straight-out, if Yahoo-registered domain names have ads on any of the webpages will not only get ten points, but will get all my appreciation! more
