Small business group still opposed to hospital tax

Calling it a measure that will drive up health care costs, the state's leading small business association is against a proposed tax on hospitals as a way to cover increasing Medicaid expenses.

"Health care costs in Wisconsin are spiraling upward for thousands of small business owners and their employees," Bill Smith, Wisconsin director for the National Federation of Independent Business, said in a prepared statement. "Imposing a new tax on hospitals that ultimately will be passed on to patients will only make health care more expensive and less accessible for families all across Wisconsin."

The group, which opposed a similar measure when it was defeated in the state budget process last fall, announced its renewed stance just a few days after Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, the state's largest business lobby, declared that it was supporting the move backed by Gov. more

Residents, businesses affected by poor conditions of road

SHREVE -- Rod Leathers and his co-workers make jokes about roller coasters as they look outside at the potholes near the Shreve Dari-Bar, watching drivers hopelessly swerve to miss them.

"We sit out here and watch it swallow cars," said Leathers, who owns the Dari-Bar and is president of the Shreve Business Association.

The potholes are a growing concern among motorists, village officials and businesses that rely on their regular pool of customers. Leathers said the customers are still coming, but not without difficulty.

Mayor Keith Rickett said he has received multiple complaint calls about the roads. He said he's been told repairs will be made before July 31, which means not before the annual Spring Migration Sensation (April 5) and the Memorial Day parade. more

How much do people like Eva Longoria-Parker (for L'oreal) or other women make for huge cosmetic campaigns? How much do pro. athletes make for campaigns for likes Nike or Gatorade or what not? I'm just wondering how much they can get from being Spokeswomen/Spokesmen for big brands? Is it in the six figures or do they make millions? I Was also wondering how much can a celebrity make from perfume/colognes that have their names on them? Pretty much any known celebrity (from the Beckhams to Kim Kardashian). Poor other lady...I have recently started our little business and had to draw the line on hiring Nicky fearing her ruining any reputation We have with our regular clients. And for one she cant cook. He said I could teach her. My brother served our country and we tend to baby him because he has lost a friend. My brother is in a set up housing (paid for by my father) near his therapy center. He has a contract that does not allow others to stay there other then a visit for 2 days or so. Kev calls me upset that Nicky got fired (personally not surprised of the reason) and now all of a sudden now she has to move out of her room mates place and needs a job etc. Dumb me suggested she my stay with Maria for a few months, but soon as she gets a job she must move out. I said it in a nicer waty though. In person I let Nicky know that Maria had allergies to chemicals ... perfume hairsprays, harsh cleaners couldnt be used in the home. Products needed to be all natural green etc. Its been 2 days and Nicky uses harsh bleach and Powder soap perfume galore etc. I didnt bother telling her no late night boy visits or over night guests because I figued it would be only Kevin visiting etc. Now my step brother sneaking out.This morning I called (didn't accuse at all) and asked Spence you should of popped in and said hi last night. He acted all rude and said that dirty mexican is seeing things. Before Nicky has said why do you give Teressa, Lupe (meaning Maria) or whatever her name is name brand gifts for Christmas what use would someone like her get from great things like that. I feel sick to my stomach for this big mistake. I thought I would please everyone by helping Nicole because I been accused of hating her and being jealous.
