Resolved Question: Do you agree with the theory that George W. Bush is responsible for the current economic crisis?
Do you agree with this: BUSH ADMINISTRATION responsible for 2008 FINANCIAL CRISIS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see a lot of politicians and forum members pointing fingers at who was responsible for the 2008 Financial Crisis we are currently experiencing. The answer is really simple. THE BUSH ADMINSTRATION! Bush selected the Board of Governors at the Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve Governors are responsible for Banking Oversight. The below quotes are found here: Federal Reserve System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote: Private banks elect members of the board of directors at their regional Federal Reserve Bank while the members of the Board of Governors are selected by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. Quote: The Board of Governors is the part of the Federal Reserve System that is responsible for supervising the private banks. A general description of the types of regulation and supervision involved is given by the Federal Reserve:[11] The Board also plays a major role in the supervision and regulation of the U.S. banking system. It has supervisory responsibilities for state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System, bank holding companies (companies that control banks), the foreign activities of member banks, the U.S. activities of foreign banks, and Edge Act and agreement corporations (limited-purpose institutions that engage in a foreign banking business). The Board and, under delegated authority, the Federal Reserve Banks, supervise approximately 900 state member banks and 5,000 bank holding companies. Other federal agencies also serve as the primary federal supervisors of commercial banks; the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency supervises national banks, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation supervises state banks that are not members of the Federal Reserve System. Some regulations issued by the Board apply to the entire banking industry, whereas others apply only to member banks, that is, state banks that have chosen to join the Federal Reserve System and national banks, which by law must be members of the System. The Board also issues regulations to carry out major federal laws governing consumer credit protection, such as the Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, and Home Mortgage Disclosure Acts. Many of these consumer protection regulations apply to various lenders outside the banking industry as well as to banks. Members of the Board of Governors are in continual contact with other policy makers in government. They frequently testify before congressional committees on the economy, monetary policy, banking supervision and regulation, consumer credit protection, financial markets, and other matters. The Board has regular contact with members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and other key economic officials. The Chairman also meets from time to time with the President of the United States and has regular meetings with the Secretary of the Treasury. The Chairman has formal responsibilities in the international arena as well. Quote: Preventing asset bubbles The board of directors of each Federal Reserve Bank District also have regulatory and supervisory responsibilities. For example, a member bank (private bank) is not permitted to give out too many loans to people who cannot pay them back. This is because too many defaults on loans will lead to a bank run. If the board of directors has judged that a member bank is performing or behaving poorly, it will report this to the Board of Governors. This policy is described in United States Code, Title 12, Chapter 3, subchapter 7, section 301:[23] Each Federal reserve bank shall keep itself informed of the general character and amount of the loans and investments of its member banks with a view to ascertaining whether undue use is being made of bank credit for the speculative carrying of or trading in securities, real estate, or commodities, or for any other purpose inconsistent with the maintenance of sound credit conditions; and, in determining whether to grant or refuse advances, rediscounts, or other credit accommodations, the Federal reserve bank shall give consideration to such information. The chairman of the Federal reserve bank shall report to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System any such undue use of bank credit by any member bank, together with his recommendation. Whenever, in the judgment of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, any member bank is making such undue use of bank credit, the Board may, in its discretion, after reasonable notice and an opportunity for a hearing, suspend such bank from the use of the credit facilities of the Federal Reserve System and may terminate such suspension or may renew it from time to time. To me, it looks like the oversight LAWS WERE IN PLACE, and the Federal Reserve Governo If Bush hadn't let gas prices get so out of hand we would all have $300-$500 more to spend each month to stimulate the economy. You guys are blaming Clinton? He left us with a surplus. Bush will leave us with the biggest deficit we've ever seen. Bush spent all our money and robbed us blind at the pump. moreResolved Question: I have a restaurant idea I need $ 2 lauch. But I don't want to take out a loan. Where can I get money 2 start?

Hi, I am trying to find out the best way to start my own business. I know I need to come up with an idea, business plan ect. my question is, How do I go about writing my Business plan in a way that im sure to obtain a small business loan, and does anyone know how I can file for a government grant to help get me started as well. Im sure there are plenty of questions that I have failed to ask, so if you have in cunstructive input that I may not have mentioned or asked about please let me know. Thanks. moreVoting Question: Where can people post their ideas on fixing the economy?
Where can people post their ideas for fixing the economic situation where people in government will listen? I have been studying the market for years and want to bounce this idea off people to see if this would work. I have been talking to people about the AIG bail-out and said months ago this would happen. I believe the majority of Americans maxed out on their credit limits and loans. At least the people I associate with have told me that they are struggling to pay their bills now. People can't go back to their boss for a raise in an economy like this and with the credit freeze a lot of businesses can't afford to pay their employees. They are now saying that by 2009 we could reach 10% unemployment nation wide. Why in this climate of economic struggle why isn't anyone making it mandatory to reduce all payment plans on credit and loan payment. I mean everything where people are paying monthly payments. So if you have a $500.00 car note drop it down to $200.0 for 1 year. If you have a mortgage for $1,500 or more drop it down to $700.00 then extend out their loan payments. So the difference they are not currently paying is tacked on to the back end of their loans. By doing this you give relief to people to have more money to spend and the creditors in the long run make more money of the interest earned by extending their credit and loans out. It is a win win situation for everyone. Why is not one looking at this? Granted the on flaw I see in doing this now is that a lot of people will take the excess money and pay extra on their loans or pay off credit cards because people are scared, but I see in 45 months after doing this people will feel better about spending money at retail stores. When Bush issued checks this year to stimulate the economy that is what people did. They squirreled away their money or paid on credit cards. I think if it was done again after Obama is elected into office hoping this will get people to spend I do not believe that will happen. I am not saying that what I am recommending will be a long term fix, but it would buy us 1 year to help correct the problems when are now in. moreResolved Question: Where can I find about government Grants to start a small business?
I am trying to get my home business to the next step, but do not have the capitol to make it happen, for unrelated reasons that prevent me from getting a loan. I need to be able to advertise and pay for vendor fees at various shows, but most importantly, I need to establish a real shop for people to come to and where I can work on my product in a more effective environment for my work. No. I am NOT looking for internet pyramid schemes, so do not send any links for them. I am asking about Government Grants only. Thanks Naima, but I am not able to get a loan. Because I am paying child support, I am considered a high credit risk. moreVoting Question: Redistribution of wealth McCain vs Obama?
Sharing the Wealth. You know more and more I hear about Obama's share the wealth plan, as if it's going to take every average American's dollar and give it to another Average American. But to me this doesn't seem so, disagree if you want but her me out before you do. In 1996 General Motors created the EV1, a two seat electric car with ZERO EMISSIONS, and sold it in California and Nevada on a lease program. Though the car was sill in early test phases, it became a quick success with many long waiting list to get a car. The car was created in part due to California's Zero Emission Mandate, (ZEM) which wanted to bring zero emission cars into the market. In 2003 GM cancelled the EV1 citing, battery issues, experimental technology, and last lack of customer demand. Though again there was a large waiting list at all dealerships that sold the car, GM maintained no one wanted it. In further explanation the stated, they had called customers to ask if they would purchase the car, and where told many wouldn't. Many customers who got the call, said GM only explained the complications with the car and some of the issues that might be associated with purchasing it. This to me is a shock, I have never heard of a company underselling, or explaining the problems of a product to buyers. This would be like if McDonald's tellers, started telling you about the possible health risks with buying their food, every time you bought a big mac? GM's cancellation of the program was coincidently the same time they decided with other large automakers to sue California and overturn the ZEM that had been set by the state. And what did GM do with all the cars? Since it was a lease program, no one actually owned their EV1, when the lease was over, citing insurance and liability the company refused all offers to by the car. Including a 1.9 million dollar offer by leases, and instead destroyed all but a few, with the rest being used as little more then trophies for glass cases. Now flash forward to 2008, amid rising gas prices, and a steadily lowering economy more and more American's can't afford new cars and the ones that are selling are hybrids including the every popular Toyota Prius. As profits dry up major U.S. auto manufactures are announcing closing factories, layoffs and a loss in profit. So what do they do? Go to the government, asking for a 25 billion dollar loan*, so they can retool and update to create more Hybrid and fuel efficient cars. Now what does all this have to do with Obama and sharing the wealth. Well to me under McCain's tax plan, GM, Ford, and Chevy will all get billon dollar tax breaks to keep them competitive. True, they obvious need money to retool, and expand, and giving them a tax break could lead to just that. But McCain seems to do little to hold them accountable. GM created a ZERO Emission car, they said the American people don't want it. They shut it down and continued to make their gas guzzlers, during the year GM released the old gas drinking chestnut the Hummer. As Toyota and others foreign markets continued to push for lower emission GM, Ford, and Chevy, went higher. They fought any legislation that would have forced them to come out with more efficient cars and scoffed at those who said gasoline would not last forever. Now when the market isn't fair to them they come running to congress and asking for money. And again under McCain's plan they get even more money to stay afloat, while never once having to act responsibly. If GM had been allowed to fail, it would have hurt the economy but the American tax payers would still have a good 5 billion, GM's share the of the money, in their coffers. If GM had sold the EV1 they may not have been in this place to began with, and surely the investment in the new technology would have helped them deal the the gas crises today. No GM and others chose to do nothing except put themselves in this situation and then come to the American people to get themselves out. Under Obama's economic plan, GM, Ford, and Chevy would have to pay higher taxes on the money they make and give it back to the American people. You know helping to build roads, schools and other essentially items for the nation. The best part is, if you make less the 250,000 dollars, a year you won't be paying more to make America better the rich aristocrats who ran wall street in the ground will. Now maybe to a lot of millionaires out there this sounds like socialism, or redistribution of wealth but to me it seems fair. GM was stupid and the American people paid, why can't they pay in return, granted given huge tax breaks GM may put enough money in new technology that it spurs a wave of American business that helps create more jobs and a stronger economy, but thats a lot of fairy dust on faith in the free market. While as under Obama's plan, sure companies my feel the pinch of paying higher taxes, but tax breaks will go to those who fund new technologies and attempt has anyone actually read this or are you just commenting on the first part. moreVoting Question: Starting my own web design company - Am i eligible to any grants or government loans?

Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and minorities. Clinton's secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's portfolio be made up of loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001. Instead of looking at "outdated criteria," such as the mortgage applicant's credit history and ability to make a down payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional measures of credit-worthiness, such as having a good jump shot or having a missing child named "Caylee." Threatening lawsuits, Clinton's Federal Reserve demanded that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. That isn't a joke -- it's a fact. When Democrats controlled both the executive and legislative branches, political correctness was given a veto over sound business practices. In 1999, liberals were bragging about extending affirmative action to the financial sector. Los Angeles Times reporter Ron Brownstein hailed the Clinton administration's affirmative action lending policies as one of the "hidden success stories" of the Clinton administration, saying that "black and Latino homeownership has surged to the highest level ever recorded." Meanwhile, economists were screaming from the rooftops that the Democrats were forcing mortgage lenders to issue loans that would fail the moment the housing market slowed and deadbeat borrowers couldn't get out of their loans by selling their houses. A decade later, the housing bubble burst and, as predicted, food-stamp-backed mortgages collapsed. Democrats set an affirmative action time-bomb and now it's gone off. moreResolved Question: Does Obama being friends with a terrorist scare any of you? ?
Posted 1:00 AM Eastern by Jim Kouri March 22, 2008 © 2008 NewsWithViews.com There is a far-reaching scandal brewing for presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama, thanks to a radio talk show host based in Oregon. Syndicated talk show host Laurie Roth's revelations make the news story about Obama's relationship with a racist, anti-American pastor look like child's play. A top official at the Pentagon during former-President George H. W. Bush's Administration and a former CIA intelligence officer maintain that Barack Obama and former Weather Underground honcho William Ayers funneled money to Professor Rashid Khalidi, a known terrorist sympathizer. Khalidi serves on the faculty of Columbia University in New York and is best known as the professor who invited Iranian President Ahmedinejad to visit Columbia University after he finished his speech at the United Nations. According to confidential sources, Khalidi has direct ties to the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), a group on the US State Department's list of known terrorist groups. "One source for this information was once a top military figure in the 1990s. He doesn't take making allegations lightly. If he says something happened, believe me, it happened," said syndicated radio talk show host Laurie Roth. "Another source is a former agent for the Central Intelligence Agency, who is an expert in counterterrorism," said Roth, who broke the story on her show Friday night. "I certainly don't want to demonize someone because they are a woman, black or liberal running for President. I love the idea that in our culture, a black and woman can now run. However, it does matter to me with any candidate, their consistency with good judgment, their voting record, their association with people with questionable backgrounds and commitment to our country," she said during her show. To listen to Laurie Roth's 3-21-08 show click here. Here are the connections as described by very reliable sources, who possess impressive military, national security and intelligence backgrounds: Allison Davis, who hired the young Obama into his small, Chicago law firm Davis, Miner, and Barnhill in 1993, left the firm in late 1999-2000 and became a housing developer. Davis went into business with Tony Rezko, the indicted businessman who's scheduled to go on trial for corruption in Illinois, and who was a major fundraiser for Obama. Davis met Rezko when he was a client of Davis, Miner, and Barnhill. Rezko is currently under indictment in Illinois for demanding kickbacks from companies seeking state government business contracts under Governor Blagojevich. Obama was identified as one of the politicians cited in the indictment as having received political contributions from Rezko out of his kickback funds. Tony Rezko hosted fundraising events for Obama in his home and was on Obama's US Senate campaign finance committee which collected $14 million for his campaign against conservative Alan Keyes, an African-American who served as an Ambassador during the Reagan Administration. In order to avoid a scandal during his presidential campaign, Obama returned $85,000 that Rezko and his family had donated to him. In early 2000, while Obama served as a state senator in Illinois, he also sat on the board of the nonprofit Woods Fund. The Woods Fund is a Chicago-based foundation that claims its primary mission is to make financial grants in order to increase and/or create opportunities for disadvantaged people and low-income communities. The chairman of the Woods fund board in 2000 was Howard Stanback, who like Obama also had connections to Davis, according to the reliable sources. Davis submitted a grant request to the Woods Foundation for a $1 million investment in his development partnership, Neighborhood Rejuvenation LP, that would be used to finance low-income senior-citizen housing. Under normal circumstances, a board member is supposed to recuse himself or herself from decisions where they have a business or personal relationship. Obama, who did not recuse himself, voted to approve Davis' grant request. Stanback, on the other hand, abstained from voting. The housing project, which also received a $5.7 million loan from the city of Chicago, in turn donated almost $70,000 in political contributions to Obama's presidential campaign. In the past, Rezko gave Obama -- who served as an Illinois State Senator -- his first two political contributions in 1995, $1,000 each from two of his companies. In 1998, State Senator Obama wrote letters to city and state officials urging them to fund a Davis-Rezko housing project. It was an obvious quid pro quo arrangement. Another major fundraiser for Obama is William Ayers, who also sat on the board of the Woods Fund with Obama and is a professor at the University of Chicago. Bill Ayers, along with his wife Bernadine Dohrn, was an active member of the Weather Underground, a radical left-wing group that advocated vio Ayers and Dohrn are known to have held at least one fundraiser for Barack Obama in their Chicago home. During Obama's last year on the board of The Woods Fund (2002), he participated in awarding grants, including a $70,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, a Chicago-based group founded by Rashid and Mona Khalidi. In another suspected quid pro quo arrangement similar to those with Ayers and Rezko, Rashid Khalidi also held a fundraising event in his home for Barack Obama. In the Middle East, Rashid Khalidi was known as a man to be reckoned with. From 1972 through 1983, Khalidi was the director in Beirut of the official Palestinian press agency, FAFA. His wife worked there as well. According to sources, when the Khalidi's left Chicago for Columbia University in New York, Rashid was honored with the Edward Said Chair in Arab Studies at that Ivy League university. Their goodbye party in Chicago included testimonials from Bill Ayers and Barack Obama. In a related story, during an interview on Thursday morning (March 20) with Black Panther leader Malik Zulu Shabazz, Fox News Channel viewers learned that Shabazz' group endorsed and supported Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States. Even on Fox -- an organization wrongly accused of being "conservative" -- the interviewers were careful in their questioning of Shabazz, a recognized racist and anti-American radical. The New Black Panther Party leader proudly announced on Fox News that his organization endorsed Obama for President. "While some people may say that Barack Obama has no control over who endorses him, he should have control over what endorsements are posted on his websites," said Laurie Roth, who, besides hosting a popular talk show, is a regular columnist for NewsWithViews.com "The endorsement of the New Black Panther Party was posted on Barack Obama's website. Why was this tolerated unless Barack Obama wanted their endorsement? If he does not want their endorsement, how much control over his staff is he going to have once he's elected President?" asks Mike Baker. The New Black Panther Party is openly anti-White, anti-Jewish, and anti-America. After Obama's Tuesday damage-control speech, his campaign pulled the Black Panthers' endorsement story off their website. It's also been reported that Obama's campaign staff was allowed to fly a Che Guevara flag inside his office, according to NewsMax. "Do these revelations demonstrate a pattern of Barack Obama's judgment? If so, then I do not want him dealing with world leaders. I do not want these groups having access to the White House. Do you?" asks the New Jersey-based political strategist. "It appears the Barack Obama water carriers within the mainstream news media are on the job as usual -- ignoring another story that has the alternative media on the Internet buzzing: Obama's embracement of an endorsement by the radical, racist organization," Baker added. moreVoting Question: Do you think the culture war in the President race is starting?
You can't win on the issues. Now you try to make him seem dangerous. Some people in this country act as if you have to be apart of a special club, just to be President of the United States. So what if Obama is not an American name. I thought that was one of things that made America great, its melting pot societies. Also, so what if he served on an Educational Charity Broad with William Ayers ( who did his acts 40 years ago). Please old people stop fighting the last war! Everybody did some regretable things during that war including the government. People were just radical back then. So what if his damn Pastor sounded like a black man from the 50s, whether than from the 21st Century. Last time I checked ones opinion does not destroy the country. So if we are going to do guilt by association, than John McCain needs to not apply either. When I hear people talk about these distractions, it makes it seem like if you don't pass these culture tests, than just don't apply. And this socialist B.S when we are nationalizing companies as I type. Also, what is so socialist about making sure everyone has health care. It seems like the capitalist do not mind making their money off the backs of others, but when you ask them to share a little it's called fascism. Also, in capitalism the one who has access to resources( capital, education) stay successful. But what about those individuals who do not get wealth pass down to them? What about those who could not get access to business loans or government grants? what about those who have lost their ways, and do not get educated or fall back onto drugs? The hell with them. Let them suffer right? Why can't republicans just admit we screwed up? We had the power and went against our own beliefs. Why all the excuses? moreVoting Question: How do I go bout obtaining a grant?

September 26, 2008 12:00 AM An Old Story The Mother of All Bailouts is a rerun. By Michelle Malkin . The time is ripe for a revised 2008 edition of “The Ant and the Grasshopper:” In a meadow on a hot summer’s day, a Grasshopper was chirping and carousing his time away. He watched scornfully as an Ant nearby struggled to store up large kernels of food and build a secure nest. The Ant pulled overtime shifts to pay off his loans and accumulate retirement funds for the future. “Give it a rest,” the Grasshopper said. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? Let’s party!” The Ant demurred: “I am planning ahead for winter, and you should do the same.” The Grasshopper blew off the Ant, squandered his supplies the rest of the season and abandoned his home while on vacation (paid for by tapping every last cent of his home equity gain) instead of holding down a job. When winter came, the Grasshopper’s pantry was empty, and his shelter ruined from neglect. The Ant, weary from planting, harvesting, and stocking up for months, was dining comfortably in his nest. Cold, hungry, jobless, facing foreclosure and up to his two pairs of eyeballs in debt, the Grasshopper limped to the Association of Community Winged Insects for Rescue Now and demanded recourse. The office was swamped with thousands just like him. ACWIRN immediately put the Grasshopper to work registering dead ants as new voters. Funded with tax dollars from the rest of the meadow’s residents, ACWIRN organized mass protests at the Bank of Antamerica, ambushed its top officials at their private homes, harassed their children and demanded that the meadow’s politicians halt all foreclosures (“We must keep Grasshoppers in their houses!”) and outlaw discriminatory lending practices against starving, homeless Grasshoppers (“Well-stocked shelters are basic insect rights!”) The banking industry capitulated; the Orthoptera Lobby secured hundreds of millions of dollars in housing earmarks, grants and counseling subsidies to support the Grasshoppers with the shadiest credit and employment histories. Antie Mae, the meadow’s government-backed home lending giant, fueled the push for increased insect homeownership in the name of biodiversity. Its executives cooked the books and headed for the hills. Katie Cricket and the Mainstream Meadow Media joined the grievance-for-profit circus, profiling Grasshopper sob stories and drumming up ratings as bewildered Ants wondered who was looking out for them. The banks drowned in toxic debt. More Grasshoppers fell behind on their mortgage payments. Bailout mania and panic gripped the meadow. Our little Ant, minding his own business, heard a knock on his door one late winter night a year later. It was his old, sneering Grasshopper neighbor. The Grasshopper had been hired by the meadow as a tax collector. “I’m here to take your provisions,” the Grasshopper cackled. But it was the Ant who had the last laugh. “I’ve learned my lesson,” he told his shiftless friend. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? I’ve spent all my savings. I’m walking away from my mortgage. Thrift is for suckers,” the Ant said as he headed out the door, leaving the Grasshopper empty-handed. moreResolved Question: Grant to open a bookstore?

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=303088377885894 'I consistently believe that when it comes to . . . reparations," Obama recently told a gathering of minority journalists, "the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds." A few days later, he clarified his remarks, saying he's not calling for direct cash payments to descendents of slaves, but rather indirect aid in the form of government programs that will "close the gap" between what he sees as white America and black America. He says government should offer "universal" programs — such as universal health care, universal mortgage credits, college tuition, job training and even universal 401(k)s — that "disproportionately affect people of color." In other words, reparations by another name. Obama knows that if he pushes too hard on reparations, he might scare off white voters. So he couches race-specific welfare as "universal" social programs that appeal to broad-based political coalitions — "even if they disproportionately help minorities," he confides in his book, "Audacity of Hope." Obama has a name for his scheme: "universal strategies." "An emphasis on universal, as opposed to race-specific, programs isn't just good policy," he wrote. "It's also good politics." Maybe so. But not all his plans for reparations are roundabout. His book and Web site outline a separate plan calling for essentially a government bailout of the inner cities. Among other things, he proposes: • Doling out faith-based grants "targeting ex-offenders." • Subsidizing supermarket chains that relocate to the inner city to deliver "fresh produce" to blacks, helping wean them off unhealthy fast food. • Imposing "goals and timetables for minority hiring" on large corporations whose work forces are deemed too white. • Continuing to fund the Community Development Block Grant program, Head Start and HUD public housing subsidies. • Funding Small Business Administration loans for minority businesses who train ex-felons, including gangbangers, for the "green jobs" of the future, such as installing extra insulation in homes. • Doubling the funding for federal after-school programs such as midnight basketball. • Subsidizing job training, day care, transportation for inner-city poor, as well as doubling the funding of the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program. • Expanding the eligibility of the earned income tax credit to include more poor, and indexing it to inflation. • Adopting entire inner-city neighborhoods as wards of the federal government. • Spending billions on new inner-city employment programs, including prison-to-work programs. This is just a down payment on the "economic justice" Obama has promised the NAACP — financed by "tax laws that restore some balance to the distribution of the nation's wealth," he says in his book. And the indirect aid he's proposing now could quickly turn into cash transfers once Obama is safely ensconced in the White House. Claiming "blacks were forced into ghettos," Obama is certainly sympathetic to the idea of reparations. His church has actively petitioned for them for decades. And he's strongly suggested there's a legal case to be made for them. "So many of the disparities that exist in the African-American community today can be directly traced to inequalities passed on from an earlier generation that suffered under the brutal legacy of slavery and Jim Crow," he said. "We still haven't fixed them." He assumes the economic gap is a legacy of discrimination and largely unrelated to personal responsibility. He also makes it seem things haven't gotten better for blacks. In this, Obama is intellectually dishonest. In his book, he cites statistics showing a 70% rise over the past two decades in the number of "Latino families considered middle class," but never cites one stat showing the even more impressive gains of the black middle class. He complains about low black wages, but never mentions the quantum leap in black home-ownership rates. Why? Such stats would undermine his case for roundabout reparations. Even if it were true, he says, "better isn't good enough." "The problems of inner-city poverty arise from our failure to face up to an often tragic past," Obama said. Now it's payback time. moreResolved Question: Obama is slamming Palin for supposedly ties to lobbyists, but do you guys know about his ties? ?
Obama’s Early Campaigns Financed by Lobbyists Monday, September 8, 2008 3:29 PM By: Kenneth R. Timmerman While Sen. Barack Obama takes great pride in having recruited more than 1.2 million donors to his presidential campaign — many of whom contributed less than $100 — he hasn’t always been a man in touch with the grass roots. Indeed, his early campaigns for the Illinois state Senate were heavily financed by well-connected business leaders, lobbyists, trial lawyers, and labor unions, a Newsmax review of campaign finance records shows. Obama launched his first campaign for the Illinois Senate in July 1995 with a $5,000 loan from Al Johnson, a prominent Cadillac dealer in Chicago who was a close crony of Jesse L. Jackson Sr. Johnson boasted of having provided luxury cars to Jackson free of charge, as I reported in my 2002 book, "Shakedown: Exposing the Real Jesse Jackson." Johnson added another $2,000 to the pot as a contribution to the campaign in September 1995, making him Obama’s single largest supporter. Not all of the Friends of Obama campaign reports are available online through the state of Illinois Web site. While there is no specific record available showing that he paid off the $5,000 loan to Al Johnson, his June 30, 1997 financial statement shows that his campaign’s debts had been reduced from $12,494.38 to $3,637.01. The connection to Johnson came through Michelle Obama, who reportedly had been close to Jesse Jackson and his family since childhood. Obama’s only other contributor in the early days of his campaign was Tony Rezko, the Chicago slumlord and developer convicted in July on 12 counts of wire and mail fraud. Rezko gave Obama $2,000 in July 1995 as corporate donations from Lakeside Refreshments and Rezko Foods, both of which he controlled. Obama has said he never intervened on behalf of Rezko in state or federal business, and did not benefit from a sweatheart land deal with the convicted felon, although Rezko sold him a lot next to Obama’s house in Chicago at what appeared to be below-market prices. But in the 1990s, Obama’s Chicago lawfirm represented Rezko and his company, Rezmar Corp, as Rezko won government grants to build low-income housing for the poor. Both Rezko and his wife, Rita, worked on Obama’s first state Senate campaign in 1995, in addition to contributing money directly and through corporate entities. Once Obama was elected as a first-time state senator in 1996, he turned increasingly to big labor and big donors. Money from Political Action Committees (PACs) — the vehicles used by lobbyists and labor unions — often outweighed contributions from individuals by as much as 10-to-1. For the first half of 1997, for example, he collected $12,200 from PACs and trial lawyers, and just $4,175 from individuals. But even here, $2,000 of the money accounted for as individual contributions came from Rezko Concessions and Rezmar Corp, both of which were controlled by Tony Rezko. For the first half of 1998, this trend continued, with just $1,505 collected from individuals and $13,500 from PACs. Tony Rezko provided food valued at $457.70 that was listed as an “in-kind” contribution. As the 1998 elections approached, Obama picked up close to $30,000 from individuals, and an additional $23,850 from lobbyists. His single largest contribution — $5,000 — was from the Illinois Political Action Committee for Education (IPACE), the political arm of the state teachers’ union. His second largest — $3,000 — came from the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. Next, with $1,000 each, came PACs representing the Teamsters, Social Workers, lawyers, dentists, the Chicago Teacher’s Union. A wide variety of local and federal labor unions gave him smaller amounts. By January 1999, lobbyists and lawyers had become his single largest source of funding. For the first half of 2000, Obama no longer bothered to solicit individual campaign contributors, while raising $14,600 from the lobbyists. Even though 2000 was an election year, he only raised $2,400 from individuals that fall, while raking in $28,560 from lobbyists and lawyers. And of the $2,400 from individuals, more than half came from Evanston, Ill., lawyer, Larry Suffredin Jr. “Obama’s source of support comes from the very far left of the Democrat party — unions, trial lawyers, social workers — not individuals,” said Cleta Mitchell, a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm Foley and Lardner, which specializes in campaign finance law. “So, now they try to say they have all this money from little people. He didn’t get there with small contributions from little people. He got there with being financed for a number of years by ultra left wing interests.” It was those larger interests that provided the seed money and expertise that allowed the Obama campaign to build the broad base of smaller donors that his campaign now boasts of having recruited, Mitchell told Newsmax. My question is- Why is Obama slamming Palin when he's done worse? Please don't answer my question with a question. Is it too difficult to answer my question? Thus far, people are evading the question and saying, "but, but... Well, what about..." Come on, let's answer the question. Morbus- NewsMax has provided their sources, so your arguement is NULL AND VOID. moreResolved Question: Looking to Study LLB(HONS) through ICS/Distant learning?

by Patrick J. Buchanan Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.? Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these: First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American. Second, no people anywhere has don e more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food sta mps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks. We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?? Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks. Let him go to Altoona?and Johnstown, an d ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent? Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself? As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially in terracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time? Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse? We ha ve all heard adnauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing. Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. ======================= Good points, eh??? "The Race" vehemently opposes cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state and federal authorities. 12. "The Race" opposes a secure fence on the southern border. 11. "The Race" joined the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in a failed lawsuit attempt to prevent the feds from entering immigration information into a key national crime database -- and to prevent local police officers from accessing the data. 10. "The Race" opposed the state of Oklahoma's tough immigration-enforcement-first laws, which cut off welfare to illegal aliens, put teeth in employer sanctions and strengthened local-federal cooperation and information sharing. 9. "The Race" joined other open-borders, anti-assimilationists and sued to prevent Proposition 227, California's bilingual education reform ballot initiative, from becoming law. 8. "The Race" bitterly protested common-sense voter ID provisions as an "absolute disgrace 7. "The Race" has consistently opposed post-9/11 national security measures at every turn. 6. Former "Race" president Raul Yzaguirre, Hillary Clinton's Hispanic outreach adviser, said this: "U.S. English is to Hispanics as the Ku Klux Klan is to blacks." He was referring to U.S. English, the nation's oldest, largest citizens' action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States. "The Race" also pioneered Orwellian open-borders Newspeak and advised the Mexican government on how to lobby for illegal alien amnesty while avoiding the terms "illegal" and "amnesty." 5. "The Race" gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA). The late GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized the organization as "a radical racist group … one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West." 4. "The Race" is currently leading a smear campaign against staunch immigration enforcement leaders and has called for TV and cable news networks to keep immigration enforcement proponents off the airwaves -- in addition to pushing for Fairness Doctrine policies to shut up their foes. The New York Times reported that current "Race" president Janet Murguia believes "hate speech" should "not be tolerated, even if such censorship were a violation of First Amendment rights." 3. "The Race" sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars (at least $8 million in federal education grants). The schools include Aztlan Academy in Tucson, Ariz., the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Ariz., Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn., and La Academia Semillas del Pueblo in Los Angeles, whose principal inveighed: "We don't want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don't need a White water fountain … ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction." 2. "The Race" has perfected the art of the PC shakedown at taxpayer expense, pushing relentlessly to lower home loan standards for Hispanic borrowers, reaping millions in federal "mortgage counseling" grants, seeking special multimillion-dollar earmarks and partnering with banks that do business with illegal aliens. 1. "The Race" thrives on ethnic supremacy -- and the elite sheeple's unwillingness to call it what it is. As historian Victor Davis Hanson observes: "[The] organization's very nomenclature 'The National Council of La Raza' is hate speech to the core. Despite all the contortions of the group, Raza (as its Latin cognate suggests) reflects the meaning of 'race' in Spanish, not 'the people' -- and that's precisely why we don't hear of something like 'The National Council of the People,' which would not confer the buzz notion of ethnic, racial and tribal chauvinism." I have a business plan, and a building picked out that I would like to purchase. I have looked at several websites including grants.gov and sba.com to find a way of getting the money I need, and haven't had much luck. I would love to get a grant, but it is really hard to find grants that I qualify for. I have horrible credit, so a loan is also going to be difficult to get unless I can find a way to get financed using something other than my own personal credit history. I don't have anyone to co-sign for me, either. However, I am confident that my business will be successful, due to the fact that I have absolutely no competition whatsoever in my area. I also have a unique and sound business plan and some very good ideas. Has anyone here ever gotten a grant for this purpose? How about a business loan with bad credit? Any ideas? Any info would help!! Thanks, all!! moreResolved Question: National Grants Conference...experienced recipiants?
