USA Today got a sneak peek and has a slick chart to browse here.

Melbourne plans risk alienating business and shoppers

A council-commissioned plan wants to make Melbourne an "eco-city" friendly to cyclists and pedestrians, but risks alienating the businesses and shoppers from which the council derives its income.

Bicycles would become the "mode of choice for private transport trips in the municipality, including for work, school, business and recreation".

Remarkably, the Future Melbourne Plan would reduce car traffic into the city from about 30 per cent of those who travel to work by car to 10 per cent. The plan aims to provide shower and change rooms for cyclists, cycle paths and a public bicycle rental system.

Cars will be driven out of the CBD if the plan drawn up by a special reference group is taken up. The speed limit in what the group hopes will become "cycle city" will be reduced to 30km/h. more
