New rocket aims for space tourism market
Entrepreneurs of the new commercial space age plan to start test flights in 2010 of a practical four-engine rocket ship that will take people on Mach 2 thrill rides up to 200,000 feet and which also has the interest of the Air Force.
The design of the Lynx rocket was shown off Wednesday by Xcor Aerospace, a Mojave, Calif.-based company that has spent nine years developing rocket engines.
Fueled by liquid oxygen and kerosene, the two-seat ship - a bit more slender than a small executive jet - is intended to operate like an airliner, making up to four flights a day while using runways for takeoffs and landings like a normal airplane.
CEO Jeff Greason withheld specifics of costs and technical details at a news conference but said he was certain investors will finance construction of the Lynx, which he estimated from will cost "south of $10 million," not including previous development costs. more

"What we're now seeing is these corporations are able to give money to the Chamber of Commerce and they're able to do it anonymously," Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers said. "If that's the case and you have an organized grassroots push, I would expect that it's going to be very successful." The chamber says it will first educate, then seek to "activate' the 6 million members of its grassroots arm to do things: contact lawmakers, hand out literature, man phone banks, give money." moreResolved Question: Any Shooting Range Owners From Florida?
In the part of Florida that I live, there is only one range with four stalls. It is expensive as well as run down. People go there only because they have no other place to go within a 50 mile radius. I decided I want to open a range myself and have already obtained so much data that my head is spinning, yet I still have some questions I am having trouble getting answered. I have the Florida State Statutes, County Codes and Zoning, The NRA Range Sourcebook (in the mail), USAF ETL 08-11: Small Arms Range Design and Construction, the EPA CFRs for lead, and have a couple of properties I am looking at in my area that meet code and would be large enough to suffice the range. The range will be an outdoor range that has 50m (X5), 100 m (X5), 300 m(X3), and 1000 m (X2) lanes that will have use a dirt backstop accompanied by a cement block wall. The range will allow for ammunition from .22 cal to .50 cal. Other than delivery of dirt my brother, cousin, dad, and friend will assist me in the construction of the stalls, measuring the Surface Danger Zone/Vertical Danger Zone, backstops, and targets. My cousin and myself are going to Orlando to become Range Safety Officers for insurance purposes. As business takes off I will be adding a skeet shoot and a tactical/obstacle course with pop-up targets and CQB scenarios, but those are not in the making yet (not until I have an established business). The building where business will be conducted will need to have retail space for accessories, gear, ammo, and guns for sale/rent (I have an application for an FFL but until I have a location of business I cannot send it in). I will also need a 125ft X 125ft room for conducting NRA, CCW, and security courses as well as offer free hunting courses (All but the hunting courses will be taught by either myself or my cousin). A bathroom and breakroom are requirements for a security training facility in my state. I know what is needed by the county, state, EPA, and BATFE in regards to licensing and regulations for the range and firearms, what I am not sure of is the business aspect. I was hoping someone who owns a range in Florida could help answer the few questions that I have left. Q1: I know the average mark-up for firearms and accessories in the area, but how can I find the cost of the firearms and accessories (wholesale/dealers price) or of any price breaks for bulk orders? The distributors will not talk to me until I have my FFL and I cannot get my FFL without a place for business and I cannot get a place of business without a business loan from a bank. Due to the economy and my age, 24, I am going to have to go to the bank with a DETAILED business plan and explain how they will get there money back. Q2: How do you pay a business loan back? Do you pay monthly payments (i.e. mortgage/car payment) or do you pay in back in a lump some with in so many years? If so what is the time frame it is to be paid back in? Q3: Do you know of any good insurance companies to cover my business (in Florida) and if so how much does it cost? Again they will not talk to me until I have a business. Q4: How much do lead removal services cost? The EPA mandates that a company has to come and remove lead from my dirt back stops and I'm sure it is not free. If I have the equipment am I allowed to do it myself? Q5: If you own an outdoor range in Fl, do you mind telling me an estimated cost of construction supplies for your outdoor range? Q6: I am looking a buying a large piece of land and I'm probably not going to find one with a building on it that suits my needs. Any ideas/suggestions on new construction vs. other options I am unaware of such as portable buildings (if they have them) Q7: What are the state and federal taxes (estimate of course) for running such a business in FL? Please, refrain from JUST telling me that this is an expensive business and that it will fail. I now that it will be expensive and that is why I need a DETAILED business plan for the bank. I am hoping for help with the few financial questions left to determine the over all cost and revenue I will need to acquire. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate and look forward to any responses. moreResolved Question: Any shooting range owners from Florida?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I appreciate and look forward to any responses. moreResolved Question: Why does the Obama administration want to punish the banks? Is it Constitutional?
Ex Post Facto: The tax attaches to banks that took TARP funds that were offered by the government to shore up the financial system. This was—and remains—perfectly legal. Yet now banks are being penalized for participating in the government program. Severe: The tax is expected to confiscate hundreds of billions of dollars from the banks, which surely qualifies it as severe. Courts have found that to be the punitive confiscation of property. Punitive Intent: Obama’s remarks introducing the tax proposal sounded very vindictive to almost everyone who has heard it. Joe Biden emailed Coakley supporters in Massachusetts that Scott Brown's opposition to the tax was "a perfect opportunity to show where his loyalties lie -- with working families in Massachusetts or with the bankers on Wall Street who helped lead us into the mess we're in -- guess who he chose?" That's the language of punishment for the financial crisis. No Legit Purpose: There’s no other legitimate purpose to the tax but to punish banks for being bailed out. It will probably be argued that the tax will reduce risk at banks—but if that were anything more than a pretext the tax would be permanent rather than expiring when the TARP is fully repaid. And the government cannot argue that the purpose is the collection of revenue—that would be an absurdly broad rationale that would exempt any confiscation, fine or tax from the ban on Bills of Attainder. Targeted: The tax is obviously targeted at the large banks that took TARP. No one expects the list of banks that qualify for the tax to grow, and Obama’s proposal actually exempts the automaker TARP recipients. The courts have ruled that corporations count as individuals who cannot be targeted in this way, so there’s no getting around it by saying Bank of America isn’t a person. And just because there are dozens of banks that will be taxed doesn’t mean it is too broad to qualify—the Supreme Court once ruled that a law aimed at the entire membership of the communist party counted as a Bill of Attainder. Unavoidable: There’s nothing the banks can do to avoid the tax. No management changes or better risk controls will exempt them. There is literally no new regulation to comply with in order to avoid the penalty. They’re stuck with the taint of TARP. http://www.businessinsider.com/obamas-bank-tax-is-unconstitutional-2010-1?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+businessinsider+(The+Business+Insider)&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher I thought he was a constitutional professor. Shouldn't he have known this? And why does he want to punish banks for what the government forced them to do? He was even an attorney in lawsuits against banks who tried to refuse to make bad loans to people. moreResolved Question: Grammatical help i cant spot the mistake.?

Praesepe plc is an AIM listed company with the specific purpose of consolidating the very fragmented UK and European AGC (the technical phrase for Amusement Arcades) industry. The plan is to build a business by acquisition with EBITDA of £100m within 2 years and to exit, via means of a trade sale, on an 8x multiple. The CEO, Nick Harding, started this journey once before as CEO of Talarius plc. From June 05 to Jan 07 he grew Talarius to become the largest UK AGC operator (200 sites), taking the share price from 80p to 280p in the process. His plans for Talarius were cut short – in a nice way – by an earlier than expected, acceptable offer to sell to an Australian based trade buyer on a 9x multiple. The expectation was that Talarius, under its new ownership, would continue with its acquisition plans but, due to problems in its home market, it hasn’t. Nick’s no compete clause expired and he began the same journey again with Praesepe. This time he and his main backers are more determined to reach the £100m EBITDA target and an early buy out offer is, therefore, less likely to be accepted. Praesepe is at the early stage of its journey. At the time of writing it has 54 sites across the UK, EBITDA for the 6 months to July 09 of £1.14m, a strong deal pipeline and a market capitalisation of £17.8m. The main shareholder (38.5%) is Marwyn – a big backer (and beneficiary) of Talarius previously. It is committed to the plan and is unlikely to sell out before the target exit. Depending on the size of the business being bought, Praesepe has acquired sites / groups of sites on EBITDA multiples up to 7x, with the average around 5.2x. Nick Harding is President of BACTA (the AGC trade body) and is well thought of in the industry across Europe – this makes doing deals that bit easier. On acquisition, sites are usually rebranded (Cashino), refitted with new machines on a revenue share model with leading manufacturers (uniquely for the industry – lower capex requirements / no ‘failed’ machines) and the operations are sharpened across the board. Based on The Crystal Room (so far the flagship Praesepe site in Leicester Square, London), such actions have a dramatic impact on revenue and earnings: The Crystal Room weekly revenue is +60% versus the weeks before the acquisition was completed. Acquisitions will be funded by a mix of new equity and debt. Currently there are 220m shares in issue, with 400m authorised. Have in mind that there is the potential for dilution unless further investments are made as new shares are issued. If the business sells for £800m with 400m shares issued, that is £2 a share. Compare that to the 8.5p market price today and, if you believe that the AGC market will follow the rule of consolidation and that Nick Harding can repeat and build on his previous success at Talarius, then it is worth a look. moreResolved Question: For Economists Only! AD/AS theory question..?
Please help me out here guys..this is really confusing! What happens to the AD or AS curve in the following scenarios: 1) Average wages go up 2) Share prices tumble, wiping 20% off company values. 3) Institute of Directors (IOD) latest survey shows clear signs of optimism for the future of the economy. 4) UK productivity levels at their highest level for 10 years. 5) Government 'stealth taxes' increase tax burden to highest level for 50 years. 6) Expansion in numbers of students attending higher education exceeds government targets. 7) Bank of England signals rise in interest rates of ½%. 8) No rate rise in UK but US and EU central banks increase interest rates. 9) Radical reform of welfare spending should help government cut spending as a proportion of GDP. 10) Stability of inflation cheers business leaders. 11) Britain leads the way in nano-technology development - this could be very, very big claims government minister! I'm 20 years old lady. I started working at target 1year ago; the main reason was, I wanted to get experience. I gave to my mother more than half-money I earned. I Couldn't think about saving , ignoring that she need to pay bills to support us, we were moving to a new house. (she have section 8) I'm a college student, tap and fafsa pay my tuition, they also give me work-study. Last year per semester they gave me $2,300 for my expenses.( Money I used to buy furniture) my scheduled at target was from 3:15 to 12:00 AM so my GPA start to fall. That semester I got D- in finance, and my other classes also, not all of them. I decided to leave target in January. I love that class so much couldn't understand what I was doing wrong. so I prefer to take it again and get a better grade. So that F kill my GPA completely on spring because I have to wait for this semester to take it. I hang-up n probation. I decided to come back to target, why? because I love target! I love to deal with ppl help them, even though I'm a cashier I feel part of the family. My mom was pushing me also, shes the kind of person that have to see someone killing themselves to believe they are doing something in life, I understand her, her life was like that,so that's how she see it. But she can't expect me to work this routing schedule, college and also clean the house. I understand that sometimes she feel so pressure but omq the reason why I Don't ask for more hrs at target its because I'm dependent and she need section 8. I'm earning $3,000 per year, And loosing $6,500 because for her study is not a job. I was taking an astronomy course, My major is Business Administration; This class was really hard for me. But I spend days and night studying tried my best to get a fair grade. Even though I took a week off to void this routing scheduled,I got D I was so mad with myself. I'm not giving target the total responsibility of my problems, I know the main reason is My English, as ya can see. but how could expect to pass this class n the last week of the semesteR? In order to to plan something for next week I have to wait to target decided if to put me day or night shift. This is not life!I know its my fault I cant expect anyone to talk for me but its so frustrating keep going to the office for the same problem! There's a manager that hate me with all her heart, This past black Friday happened a shock situation in from of my eyes, the store lead said to turn off my light but I continue to work , cuz I knew the store need me. After 30Min's I asked one of the managers to send me to my break, This lady said to first send another team member because I was new? I came 10Min's late but she said to her supervisor it was 30. Even though I tried to explain that the train took long to pass, for her she hav lot of employers in the same situation. She started talking about situation that has happened before, I though it was resolved already. (when I came back to the store they started scheduling me hours out of my availability. My managers asked me why I didn't call or show up to work I explained what happened cuz the lady that make the scheduled said not to go so they understood it was not my fault.) I called out one day and its like " No call, no show " in the office " I called sick " but because I don't like to be seen as irresponsibly I went to work, but didn't get pay that day.. Even though I tried to explain this to her she said I was acting in a defensive way! I know she have the rights to give me a verbal warning and write what we had talk, But situations that has happened before is affecting me! I talked to HR about this situation, because If something happen I know that the first question they are going to ask is " Why you didn't talk before" Omq I wanted to get experience starting as a cashier but I don't see myself being one of them, I do understand that managers main task is to make profit, but omq but is not dealing with the ppl at all; but she's using this situation to take me out and Its look that I'm giving to her the reason, but my priority its my college!I'm planning tomorrow go to the store 2 talk about this ( not the manager situation ) I called out this past friday and Sunday; cuz I feel sooo physical sick! but In the other hand I feel bad because they had been soo many ppl that has been so cool with me helping me with my problems, like the person I'm going to talk 2morrow. . I'm looking as a irresponsible person which I'm not I prefer to talk about this with no feeling emotions but not to sound like a person that ignore how much they have helped me. In a understandable and short explanation just want them to give me a normal scheduled in order to give them my everything, but letting them know that my priority is my college. This coming Thursday they put me to work 2-10pm I won't let them down but I can't come to the store before not knowing what's happening. Maybe I'm fired already Lolz! =( I have earned 37 credits so far is so fru moreResolved Question: I don't know what to do with this situation, I'm a college student but I don't know if to continue!?
I'm 20 years old; I start going to college at the age of 18. I was so excited! High School for me was not I expect to be, My mom though that I won't have a future because for her I never do anything in life. At the age of 17 I start the GED program, I couldn't understand what's the professor was teaching so I decided to take the books to home and teach myself. But for my mother, I was doing anything. At the end of the year by June 2007 I asked my professor to send me to take the exam, Although he didn't feel I was going to pass, he sent me. When I came back from vacation, I Received a letter with my High School Diploma and a over high passin grade 4 every subject. I was happy I Knew that for the first time, my mom would be proud of me. When I start going to college, everything were awesome! But my mom start to push me to get a job saying that I have to stop being so useless, because for her I was doing anything. So I apply for target and got accepted, I love this store but its a retail store and crazy as hell scheduled. On spring fall 2008 my GPA star to fall. My scheduled at target was 3:15-12:00 am. But I didn't want my mom to start saying that I was a worthless. I talked to her and accepted. But the same think start again. She said that I misuse TAP and FAFSA money, but Hey! I worked the entire christmas 2008 days and night over hour; But I didn't take that money for me, I gave it to her! I Don't care about money I just care on making my people happy but its like they forget about me! I'm not a party person I just like to be at home with the love of my family. But this job at school its not the type of job I like, I like a place to move around and etc, Like Target! The main reason that make lead me to decide to start working its to start from the beginning & get experience, But this is affecting soo much my career. Its showing that I'm a dumb person and I'm not =( My GPA is sooo low!! I Studied sooo hard for this final to get a D in a class just because this damn professor its a maniac! But I realized that its my fault! I'm doing something wrong and what's hurts me more its that my mother can't understand how much this is affecting me! Because she start working younth, she expect me to do the same think. And what make me proud of me its having things on my own!But there's something I star to think ; If at college per semester, FAFSA and TAP give me $2,500 every semester. excluding $1,500 Workstudy! Total more than $7,000 year. Why I'm loosing that money and earning $3,000 a year by receiving humiliation from managers that make you feel a shit! just because if I exceed that amount my mother won't get Section 8 and help from the government, but in the other hand when she get mad at me she can start saying that she can call the police and kick me out of the house because she pay the rent? Hey Don't get me wrong she's not a bad mother, she's my life I love her so much! But sometimes she make mee feel so useless cuz she can't understand my pain. She always accuses me of the misfortune of her life, but its not my fault that she has taken bad desicions. Desicion that has affect me more than her but im not going to live in the past! She can expect me to be a professional in order to help her in the future if she don't help me to do it! Its like my psychology say when a person don't have a knowledge of what its to be a college students, won't understand what they suffer. I tried to say that to her and she felt offended. She's pushing me to act this way and I don't know what to do. I will defenetively leave target and go back to work on Summer and Christmas time but my school has alway be my priority in life. I'm stuying business management thinking of being a lawyer bubt almost all my classes are D so I don't kno if to start from the beginning again or finish and transfer to a four year college? I need 20 credits more but being on probation just let me take 7 credits per semester!! moreResolved Question: Anyone else get a weird card on their windshield?
Someone left a business card on my car with no name but a website on there that reads www.exoticcoupons.com Out of curiosity I go to the website but it just says that it's coming soon. There are also two links on there that lead to someone's blogs. One says "Stuff dreams are made of" and the other "Is it possible?". So my question is why would a supposed coupon site have such topics? edit: The card was on my windshield and some other cars nearby at the target here in Richmond, VA. Is this some kind of new scam? Why would someone pass out business cards if the site isn't up and functional yet?? moreResolved Question: Why can't I find a job?
I've been applying for jobs since June when I graduated with my bachelors degree. I can't even get a callback. I have a fantastic resume. I've had multiple professors and two school's career services get it as close to perfection as possible. I've done many mock interviews with career services at my school as well. I have probably applied to 200 jobs or so since June. When information is available, I always send a follow-up e-mail about a week later restating my interest and qualifications. I have all these e-mails approved by my contact at my career services. I got desperate for work and money, so I started applying for part-time jobs. I went around to every restaurant and retail store in the area. My work experience includes 4 years as a waitress at a variety of restaurants, 1.5 years working as a department lead at Target, an internship with Ernst & Young, another accounting/business related internship, 6 years coaching gymnastics, and multiple leadership roles both in student organizations and jobs. I have kept in contact with my bosses at my old jobs and they have all said that they have received 0-1 calls from jobs and they would always shed me in a positive light. I also have 5 solid professional references. I graduated with honors from a top University (3.7 GPA) and I was in the business honors program. I'm running out of both options and money... any ideas? I even got rejected to be a minimum wage cashier at Wal-Mart :( moreResolved Question: How is Wal-mart any different from other corporations?
I’m pretty much illiterate in the economics and business sense. In fact, I hate economics and business. I think I just have a vague understanding of corporations and globalization and the free market from what I’ve learned in high school. It’s all about exploitation isn’t it; exploiting the cheapest labour possible? Pitting impoverished economies against each other to see who will do the most manual labour for something close to nothing. And it doesn’t even benefit the people of North America. Since there are people willing to work for almost nothing abroad, why would these businesses want to waste money employing people over here who are actually aware of a sensible wage? It only benefits the fat cats right? The heads of these corporations. And Wal-mart is leading this race right? They charge the least for goods that are manufactured overseas and compensate them for almost nothing? Anyway, so how is Wal-mart any different from like Zellers, or Target, or Sprawl-mart? Aren’t they all corporations that endorse exploitation, but it’s just that they aren’t as successful as the mighty wal-mart? I just feel bad for buying crap at wal-mart but I’m not sure if there is any difference. We live in a capitalist/ free market/ whatever country. And I’m not a hippie or anything. I realize that life is unfair. If it wasn’t for exploitation of the weaker countries, we wouldn’t be able to live the luxurious lives we do in North America right? Sure the fat cats don’t hold us in as much regard as they do solely themselves, but at least they throw us scraps from their lavish banquets. It’s either them or us. Life sucks...I think. moreResolved Question: Do you know of any other programs that help young people with disabilities?

Alright, so the Gov't Climate Plan has been rejected as you can see here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8389909.stm Sure, K-Rudds plan was far from perfect. There were many problems, including: 1. Targets to low (as in not aiming at reducing emissions by a large enough amount) 2. Possible flow on costs to small business. 3. Gross over-compensation of coal fired electricity generators as well as coal and aluminium smelting industries. Big industry doesn't need more of my money. While we're at it why dont we hand out billions to Woolies, Wesfarmers and Bunnings so they can destroy more real family businesses. Abbot needs to wipe that smart a r s e smirk off his face because the last thing Australia needs is to allow profiteering of big business to continue with such reckless disregard for the environmental impact. Why is it always douchebags that are in office? Further improvements to the CPRS plan can definitely be made, but we need to start imposing restrictions on companies, and we need to do it now. Why is such greed and carelessness allowed to go unchecked? Therefore, we need to introduce this plan now as a first step towards environmental responsibility. Australia is a largely agricultural and horticultural country. are country is already turning into a dustbowl, why are we doing nothing to prevent this? Maybe I should move to a country like Sweden with a relatively sane government and populace, but then they're being pretty stupid at the moment for prosecuting those who support p2p technology. Oh no, the poor little record and media companies, however will they survive? Just because they charge $30 for a CD that costs them a fraction of a cnet and 700 for an OS on a DVD that costs them not much more. Those CEO's will have to miss out buying yet another island nation with mansion and their 3rd or 4th private luxury jet if we keep up sharing media....Yes, it is the real people who are trying to make are living that are wrong, not the people getting paid 70 million a year for ripping off as many people as possible. At least there is one good thing about people like Tony Abbott. People with such religious bigotry like his will lead people of different religions to wipe each other out in countless wars. Go ahead, spare the world of your philosophical cancers that you call religions. That's my rant. Share your thoughts, and if you see Abbott punch him in the face for me. 4. moreResolved Question: Ramadan!.... Is this justice?
A news paper report Hourly Update Swiss ban mosque minarets in surprise vote By Alexander G. Higgins THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Tucson, Arizona | Published: 11.29.2009 GENEVA — Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on minarets on Sunday, barring construction of the iconic mosque towers in a surprise vote that put Switzerland at the forefront of a European backlash against a growing Muslim population. Muslim groups in Switzerland and abroad condemned the vote as biased and anti-Islamic. Business groups said the decision hurt Switzerland’s international standing and could damage relations with Muslim nations and wealthy investors who bank, travel and shop there. “The Swiss have failed to give a clear signal for diversity, freedom of religion and human rights,” said Omar Al-Rawi, integration representative of the Islamic Denomination in Austria, which said its reaction was “grief and deep disappointment.” About 300 people turned out for a spontaneous demonstration on the square outside parliament, holding up signs saying, “That is not my Switzerland,” placing candles in front of a model of a minaret and making another minaret shape out of the candles themselves. “We’re sorry,” said another sign. A young woman pinned to her jacket a piece of paper saying, “Swiss passport for sale.” The referendum by the nationalist Swiss People’s Party labeled minarets as symbols of rising Muslim political power that could one day transform Switzerland into an Islamic nation. The initiative was approved 57.5 to 42.5 percent by some 2.67 million voters. Only four of the 26 cantons or states opposed the initiative, granting the double approval that makes it part of the Swiss constitution. Muslims comprise about 6 percent of Switzerland’s 7.5 million people. Many are refugees from the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s and about one in 10 actively practices their religion, the government says. The country’s four standing minarets, which won’t be affected by the ban, do not traditionally broadcast the call to prayer outside their own buildings. The sponsors of the initiative provoked complaints of bias from local officials and human-rights group with campaign posters that showed minarets rising like missiles from the Swiss flag next to a fully veiled woman. Backers said the growing Muslim population was straining the country “because Muslims don’t just practice religion.” “The minaret is a sign of political power and demand, comparable with whole-body covering by the burqa, tolerance of forced marriage and genital mutilation of girls,” the sponsors said. They said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan compared mosques to Islam’s military barracks and called “the minarets our bayonets.” Erdogan made the comment in citing an Islamic poem many years before he became prime minister. Anxieties about growing Muslim minorities have rippled across Europe in recent years, leading to legal changes in some countries. There have been French moves to ban the full-length body covering known as the burqa. Some German states have introduced bans on head scarves for Muslim women teaching in public schools. Mosques and minaret construction projects in Sweden, France, Italy, Austria, Greece, Germany and Slovenia have been met by protests. But the Swiss ban in minarets, sponsored by the country’s largest political party, was one of the most extreme reactions. “It’s a sad day for freedom of religion,” said Mohammed Shafiq, the chief executive of the Ramadhan Foundation, a British youth organization. “A constitutional amendment that’s targeted towards one religious community is discriminatory and abhorrent.” He said he was concerned the decision could have reverberations in other European countries. Amnesty International said the vote violated freedom of religion and would probably be overturned by the Swiss supreme court or the European Court of Human Rights. The seven-member Cabinet that heads the Swiss government had spoken out strongly against the initiative but the government said it accepted the vote and would impose an immediate ban on minaret construction. It said that “Muslims in Switzerland are able to practice their religion alone or in community with others, and live according to their beliefs just as before.” It took the unusual step of issuing its press release in Arabic as well as German, French, Italian and English. Sunday’s results stood in stark contrast to opinion polls, last taken 10 days ago, that showed 37 percent supporting the proposal. Experts said before the vote that they feared Swiss had pretended during the polling that they opposed the ban because they didn’t want to appear intolerant. “The sponsors of the ban have achieved something everyone wanted to prevent, and that is to influence and change the relations to Muslims and their social integration in a negative way,” said Taner Hatipoglu, president of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Zurich. “Muslims indeed will not feel safewe people have time to read a long stories but wen here come somthing which is abut islam we dun have time then. mean our musims are............we people have time to read a long stories but wen here come somthing which is abut islam we dun have time then. mean our musims are............ moreResolved Question: 10 oints for best answer.the benefits of good communication skills in a law firm?
I`ve typed up this so far, is it ok? 10 points to th person for helping me add and explain more? If lawyers can communicate effectively, they are more effective in every dimension e.g. in the courtroom, getting more cases, advertising etc. An attorney that can speak coherently would not only make more sense to a jury or judge, but they're also more likely to win cases since they are seen as being intellect and logical. This will help the firm to gain many clients as the solicitors will be representing the firm positively. In other words, good communication allows people to trust in the organisations abilities Better communication among staff will lead to greater motivation and productivity because if employees feel included in management discussions and if they feel that information is flowing, they will put more effort in and be happier in the workplace. In addition, employee motivation can be the difference between success and failure for your law business. Also, by having good flow of communication, means that management sometimes involve the workers in decision making, this means that they will be more focused on achieving their targets , and more aware of exactly what they need to do. This will lead to increased efficiency and a greater sense of purpose. Legal professionals with strong communication abilities are able to build rapport with colleagues, which can help move projects along more efficiently. They know whose expertise to tap when they need assistance and are adept at resolving conflicts and building consensus among team members. Better team work will help the firm to better efficiency which will improve the profit margin (achieving business objective). In addition, the more a staff member knows and understands the better they are to do their jobs, the more efficient they are increasing fees from clients and lead time, increasing profit levels. This will also lead to better court performance`s which will enhance the firm`s reputation and have positive impact on the bottom line in terms of profit. moreResolved Question: Has a consistent pattern emerged from the C l i n t o n years?

The deregulaton of the financial world occurred in 1999 with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act, which passed with overwhelming support of both parties in both houses of Congress, and which was signed gladly and eagerly by Bill Clinton. Obama's Third World Press Rant By Wesley Pruden Throwing rotten eggs at "them lyin' newspapers" has always been great sport in America, and sometimes even effective politics. But it has to be done with wit and humor, which may be above Barack Obama's pay grade. Thomas Jefferson despised newspapers, with considerable justification. They printed libels and slanders about him that persist to the present day. Yet he famously said that if he had to choose between government without newspapers and newspapers without government, he would cheerfully choose to live in a land with newspapers (even not very good ones) and no government. Harry Truman threatened to demolish the manhood of a newspaper music critic who criticized his daughter's singing. Richard Nixon compiled an enemies list, prominently including newspapermen. I made Bill Clinton's enemies list and dined out on it for weeks. George W. Bush confessed, no doubt accurately, that he never read newspapers. The president's media environment is "target rich," but as any bombardier could tell you, there's more to scoring a bull's-eye than opening the bomb-bay doors. In a fit of pique, John F. Kennedy canceled the White House subscription to the New York Herald-Tribune (may it R.I.P.) because he thought it relished stories about Democratic zits and covered up Republican pimples. The ban didn't last; the White House soon subscribed again, and JFK poked a little fun at his over-the-top pique. Politicians who actually get their revenge on press tormentors do so with rapier thrusts of whimsy and clever insult. An early 20th-century governor and U.S. senator from Arkansas (from whom Mr. Clinton took pointers) delighted in sharp thrust-and-parry with the Arkansas Gazette (may it R.I.P.), the state's leading newspaper. "My wife and I have a little boy, and we have great ambitions for him," he would tell audiences gathered on courthouse lawns at the foot of the monument to the Confederate soldier. "If it turns out that he's as intelligent as we think he is, we hope to make a Baptist preacher of him. If he has just average intelligence, that's all right, we'll send him to law school. But if it turns out he's the village idiot, we'll just send him down to Little Rock to edit the morning newspaper." Good fun. But something more sinister is afoot in Mr. Obama's carefully plotted campaign to destroy his perceived enemies in the press, television and even business. Rush Limbaugh is only the face of the opposition, and the ultimate target of the White House scheme is to marginalize and destroy the Republican Party first, and then everyone else unwilling to get in the lockstep parade toward the hazy dream of Utopia. Mr. Obama and his White House can't seem to get their brains around the fact that the election of '08 is over, and he won. A candidate feeds on red meat, but a president is the president of everyone, and must set a different table. Mr. Obama campaigned with promises of a post-racial, post-partisan, post-rancor administration, and millions of Americans responded with enthusiasm. The candidate who said he took inspiration from Abraham Lincoln of Illinois now acts as if he takes inspiration from the distinguished statesmen of the Third World, where press opposition to the leader is usually a bloody no-no. The remarkable White House attempt to define which news organization is legitimate and which is not began in August, as Mr. Obama's poll numbers began a dramatic slide. Suddenly the man who yearns to be the permanent president of the Student Body, loved by all and adored by the co-eds and their mamas, is rendered human after all. Anita Dunn, the director of White House communications, says that when the administration began planning for autumn (with important gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia), the president "needed to be more aggressive in defining what the choices are, and in protecting and pushing forward our agenda." Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Fox News are big enough to take care of themselves, but the implications of what the Obamanauts are trying to do are scary, indeed. Brisk and even brutal opposition is something every president must endure; it's a pity that Mr. Obama skipped school the day the class studied American history. The candidate insists that the critics who scoff that he isn't really the messiah, but another Chicago politician, are just being cynical. This week Ms. Dunn insisted that the Obama image is intact. "He's who he has always been." So we are learning, to widespread sorrow. • Wesley Pruden is editor emeritus of The Washington Times. ALIPAC: Illegal Alien Costumes Are Cool For Halloween ... Illegal Alien Costumes Are Cool for Halloween! Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's President William Gheen is offering to conduct interviews next week, while wearing the controversial illegal alien costume recently banned by Target at the request of a few pro-illegal immigrant groups. "The illegal alien supporting groups in America are attacking free speech once again," said Gheen. "These are the same types of people that are trying to ban Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck from television. They want to control what people can see, hear, say, or even wear for Halloween in pursuit of their open borders agenda." Gheen has ordered his costume through Amazon.com and is encouraging others to do the same to help protect the businesses that created and still distribute the costume. Businesses that value the freedoms and protections of American citizens should be rewarded, while businesses like Target that quickly cave to radical pro-illegal alien political groups should be rebuked. Gheen hopes this controversy will backfire on the illegal immigrant supporters, and that demand for the illegal alien costumes will rise and quickly lead to sold out inventories. The illegal alien costumes now qualify as collector items. CNN is reporting Gheen's initial comments in reaction to this new controversy. "The only people getting upset are the hyper-sensitive, over-politically correct, pro-amnesty, illegal alien-supporting nuts," said Gheen. "You can't attack people's freedom in this country." Upon further reflection, Gheen had this to offer. "Why is it that a few illegal alien supporters can get a global corporation like Target to remove all illegal alien costumes from their stores with a few calls but the over two hundred million Americans constituting the over 80% of us who want illegal aliens out of America make millions of calls to Congress and the President to no avail? " asked Gheen. "If someone really wanted to dress up as an illegal alien, they should dress up like President Obama's illegal alien Aunt Zeituni Onyango in Boston and hold a welfare check instead of a fake green card!" The illegal alien costumes causing the furor are for sale online but have been removed from Target's online store. The costumes are of a space alien in an orange prisoner's jump suit holding a fake green card with the caption "illegal alien" across the chest area. rhetoric which is in fact hate speech against a group of people? Isn't it used as a small minded derogatory slur against one group because another is intolerant and hateful about what they stand for? I know, the hate group who uses it will give a dishonest derogatory response about what they stand for, lie about where they came from, how they comport themselves, and give disinformation about who is behind the movement ... isn't that exactly how Jews were treated by the Nazi Movement? They justified their rhetoric with more dishonest defamation about the subject of their political targeting. The KKK, (founded by the same political party as those who really don't like the Tea Party Protesters) did the same to the black race using much the same small minded tactics. The fact is the Tea party protectors started up while Bush was president because they didn't like trillions spent on bail outs. They felt that the free market economy should be allowed to work, and businesses that don't work should fail. That to prop up bad businesses and put the burden on tax payers to do it is not only a bad idea on the surface, but also incentivizes bad business practices and taking from the people through the government to support those bad, unsound practices that can't sustain themselves. They know that in a free market economy where taxes and government intervention is kept to a minimum the GDP rises and more tax revenue is available to the government, it's happened that way every time taxes have been reduced on the producers in this country They also look at what happens when the Feds overstep, as in the dept of education leading to more money and more money being poured into a bad school system creating parasitic teachers Unions with less focus on the children's education and more on how to grab all that can be grabbed from the public coffers. Just one example, there are many. The Tea parties have nothing to do with race, at least not with those who started them. A few idiots slip in to everything, but that's not what opposition to Obama is all about except for a tiny fringe. It's about wanting to keep our constitution intact. Our economy strong, and the federal government out of our lives as defined in the Constitution because government controls lead to one thing, corruption and massive amounts stealing from the public as does access to any huge pool of cash. If you allow it, the thieves will come in droves, it's their nature, and unfortunately right now it pretty much drives government. According to Martin Luther King, (a man most democrats pretend to respect, but obviously many don't have any respect his message, so it shows the pretension of respect to be a lie) You don't judge a man by the color of his skin, but the content of his character. By the very meaning in his statement, this principal transcends color. It applies to any group, race, religion, political, sex, whatever, because it's not about any special groups we must respect, it's about any group, it's about any individual. No individual is more important than another individual when it comes to respect. No group either because it's all part of the same principal. Obama proposes massive spending and a government take over of many industries. I know he said he doesn't, but the actions speak louder than the words that lie to us. I know they lie, because I know they lied in most instances in the past. Public will be given time to read bills? LOL! Congress isn't even getting time to read the bills. It goes on and on. Laws broken to give his supporters car companies, billions of dollars as in George Soros, Acorn, Al Gore, Unions, Hamas gave him campaign contributions, anything that is Gaza is Hamas, they run the government, nothing goes to Gaza that doesn't go to Hamas, and no one in Gaza has money except it's controlled by Hamas, so it's a fact he got contributions from Hamas and gave a billion to Hamas. There is plenty to be upset about with Obama. How does race enter into it? It doesn't matter what race he is. The same type of people didn't like Carter either, or Clinton before he lost the Congress and made his show of a big shift. The Tea Party movement is not about race, it's not about a party, and it's sure as heck not about big corporations starting something. Obama's bought off most of the big corporations and interests, at our expense. Drug industry by pushing out their patent time so generics take longer, AARP by giving them a monopoly on add on insurances exempting them from high taxes imposed on others, much of the insurance industry, Trial lawyers by opening up a whole new area of fertile potential for them, AMA with a huge contribution to the organization (but he is opposed by nearly 80% of actual doctors) and there is more but that's enough off the top of my head. The big government interests and the filthy rich behind entertainment industry and media are smearing the Tea Party Movement with lies and defamation. Do you realThe big government interests and the filthy rich behind entertainment industry and media are smearing the Tea Party Movement with lies and defamation. Do you really want to be with those types? Allow yourself to be turned into a bigoted tool of the fascist interests out to make out riches stolen from the tax payer for themselves at your expense? Or those who are protesting that? Who do you really want to be? What do you really stand for? moreResolved Question: How to make a good cv? Tips please to help improve chances of interview/job..?

Obama the Impotent - The Disappointment with Barack Obama is Tangible – on Climate Change and Financial Reform Europe Leads While the US Lags Steven Hill Barack Obama's ability to strike a new course for the US following eight years of Bush administration unpopularity. Yet many in the US and abroad are impatient with the pace of progress under the Obama administration. The president made the rounds on five news talkshows on Sunday as he pressed his policies and vision, preparing for what is likely to be a difficult week. Besides the ongoing battle over healthcare, this week sees two showdowns between Europe and the US that will reveal further slippage in American global leadership. The first showdown comes today at a UN special session on climate change in New York City; the second will come at the end of the week at the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh, where America and Europe will butt heads over financial system reforms designed to ensure that the AIGs of the world can never again cause an economic collapse. Europe has been increasingly critical of America's failures to live up to its global responsibilities. The US is not only the world's largest emitter of greenhouse gases but is by far the largest per capita emitter of carbon and other pollutants. China comes close to the US in terms of total carbon emissions, but it has four times more people, who each belch far less individually. Europe, while having much the same high living standard, has an "ecological footprint" that is only half of America's, since Europe has taken leadership in implementing renewable technologies and conservation practices. On the campaign trail, Barack Obama promised to reverse the Bush administration's terrible ecological record. Yet so far the world has seen more symbolic gestures from the Obama administration than accomplishments. Its biggest achievement so far has been an example of disappointment. President Obama signed an executive order to increase US motor vehicle mileage standards – but only to a level that will push fuel efficiency by 2020 to a level that European and Japanese cars reached several years ago, and even China has already achieved. Europe has announced donations of $2bn to $15bn a year for the next decade to help developing nations cope with climate warming, yet the Obama administration has not offered anything close to that amount. Europe also wants binding, near-term targets for developed nations, proposing a 20% reduction from 1990 levels by 2020, or 30% if everyone agrees. The Bush administration of course rejected such targets – but now it looks like the Obama administration is not willing to go any further. It has said such targets should be voluntary but verifiable. With the US Senate is bogged down in the fight over reforming healthcare, American leaders have said that the senators might not move on climate legislation until 2010, well after the global climate change conference in Copenhagen in December. That drew a sharp response from John Bruton, head of the European Union delegation: "The United States is just one of the 190 countries coming to this conference," Bruton said, "but the United States emits 25% of all the greenhouse gases that the conference is trying to reduce. I submit that asking an international conference to sit around looking out the window for months, while one chamber of the legislature of one country deals with its other business, is simply not a realistic political position." Even Europe's conservative politicians, such as Connie Hedegaard, Denmark's minister of climate and energy, are expressing impatience: "It's rather crucial that the US can show a credible pathway," Hedegaard said, pointing out that the US emits twice as much carbon dioxide per capita as Denmark, without gaining anything in improving its quality of life. That's the start of President Obama's week. At the end of it, President Obama will appear at a meeting in Pittsburgh of the G20, a bloc of both developed and developing nations, representing 85% of the world's economic output and most of its population. On the table will be what reforms to help avoiding a repetition of the financial panic and global economic collapse that is perceived as having originated on Wall Street. Despite immense, taxpayer-financed rescue packages needed to overcome the crisis, the financial sector in the US is rapidly returning to business as usual. Indeed, three US banks – Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan – which received some $45bn of bailout aid, each paid billions of dollars more in bonuses in 2009 than they earned in 2008. Here again, Europe is leading, while the Obama administration is dragging its feet. Europe has proposed far-reaching reforms designed to impose new rules on executive pay and bonuses, requiring that banks link pay to long-term rather than short-term performance, and that they "claw back" any bonuses received in the face of losses. Europe wants a financial police moreResolved Question: I just accepted a job at Target, BUT.....?
I recently got a job at Target, should I stay??? Here's my story: O.k. so I'm suffering just like everyone else in this economy. I'm 36, and I have a college education and don't have plans on attending addt'l school for a masters program. I lost my job as a graphic designer which paid me $16 an/hr back in February 2008 because the company downsized and then about 4 months later went out of business. Well, though graphic design was fun and it seems people liked my work, I wasn't happy but it was good pay. I was a self-taught graphic designer, but again, people liked my work and I was a natural at computer graphics. So, I figured I would move on and go back to my roots....I have a degree in marketing and I tried and tried to get an entry level job along the lines of marketing or advertising. Unfortunately, it was difficult search especially in the California markets(I'm sure other markets are also suffering). I would get interviews, but there was always no return phone calls or they went with someone else probably with a cheaper salary. Well, out of desperation to pay bills and put food on the table, I ended up taking a job with a inventory company called RGIS. I only got paid $9 in the beginning, then got a whopping raise of .50 cents. It was o.k., but I was wasting about 40% of my paycheck on gas and car maintenance, because the company didn't reimburse us for anything. Not only that the traveling was difficult, I would get up at 3:00am to be at a job site which started at 4am or 5am. You drove to a different job site everyday, and never knew how far you were going to travel until your schedule was sent to us. But, the positive aspects were the people and even though we were all tired workers, we all joke around and referred to our employers as 'Rent a human' instead of as part-time workers. So, from December of 2008 till August 2009, I literally worked my butt off for RGIS. It was just a job to pay bills and to tell you the truth there was ZERO opportunity for growth and advancement. Literally, we combined with another district in our area and had something like over 70 employees all part time, they even had a ton of part time supervisors. They only employed a total of 5 Full time workers and all of them were considered upper office managers. So, I decided to look again for a job. So, I decided to take a step back and look beyond the present and seek a job that would literally have opportunities down the line. So, I also have retail experience over 10+ years retail experience but its been about 7 years since I've even worked in the retail industry. I heard from a friend of mine that Target was hiring. So, I decided to apply and I ended up getting the job for Target in California about 15 minutes from my house. Well, I don't get paid very much again, I get about $9 an/hr. But, I figured if I work hard then the rewards would be beneficial and lead up to a management position. Check this out......Well, before our orientation to Target, I meet up with the HR person who hired me and he seemed impressed with my resume and various skill set and experience. Not to be negative, but I'm not surprised, considering who would you hire some 16 year old with no experience, or someone with experience. Doesn't take much to figure out the answer. But, I still have to remain positive so as I'm filling out the paperwork, the assistant HR brings me into a small office and gives me the truth about the job I applied for backroom which starts at 4am(not a problem considering I was working those hours beforehand). She says in her four years of working for Target, she hasn't seen anyone get promoted to a manager position. She said they used to promote people within to team leaders, but because of the economy they are literally cutting back and possibly corporate is thinking of eliminating team leader positions in certain targets. Then she tells me, hardly anyone gets a raise, but then she makes a comment to me that she was given a promotion but didn't take it because she never wanted one. The assistant HR said she was becoming a nurse. Don't know why she was compiled to tell me these things, but she was being alittle to honest and to tell you the truth, I didn't know what to say or do. So, I finished filling out the paperwork and then walks in the head HR person... Well, he wanted to know if I felt comfortable being trained in multiple areas. He wanted to know if I could do Flow and do the back room. Flow is taking the boxes off the truck and basically either backstocking products or pushing to the floor. Back room has to deal with similar job duties, but you don't have to pick heavy boxes all day. Its more of pull the bits and pieces of inventory that were sold in the store for replenishment. So, I told him no problem. I'm a quick study so usually multiple job tasks aren't a real problem for me. I've always said I have a slight case of ADD, just because when IADD, just because when I'm working and only when I'm working I can never just stand around or sit still I HAVE TO WORK!! Anyways, the assistant HR replied to the Head HR and told him maybe thats not such a good idea. She recommended I have only one job and learn all aspects of one job. I told both of them, it doesn't matter to me as long as I'm kept busy, I'll be fine. Well, here's the interesting part..... My first day of work, I got to work and the workers seemed REALLY COLD. I would introduce myself, and said I start work today, and noone would introduce themselves back. Or even say hello my name is.... I found it strange, but I figured maybe they need to get to know me more... So, I went off with my trainer, and he taught me about the back room. It was easy work, We used a handheld PDA device and learned some basic in's and out's of the job, but it was pretty easy. It was basic tasks and functions, I picked it up in 1 day. My trainer said most people can pick it up in 1 daybut some people need a weeks time. So, next day I get to work I picked up my PDA and just started pulling inventory to push to the floor. Then a manager comes over to me and says, your not suppose to be here I want you in FLOW?? I told him I wasn't hired for Flow, but for the back room. The supervisor replied saying, but today I want you in flow. O.k. don't know what I'm doing in flow, but I'm sure I'll pick up quickly. So, I had a new trainer train me in FLOW. Again, it wasn't hard and all you do is pickup the boxes as they come off the truck and put them on crates to be pushed to the floor, where they restock the merchandise. Well, now I was pushed to the FLOW position and only see the BACKROOM once in awhile. The manager of logistics tells me that they hired me for the wrong position and now I'm needed in FLOW. However, they will need me for the backroom once in awhile. Well, everyday is different I'm flow, then I'm in the backroom, then I'm flow again.Despite my training and I have now been at target for about 3 weeks now.......Well, here it is.....the FLOW and BACKROOM team seemed very COLD??? I would say hello and no response. I would try and talk to people and they will not talk to me back. As I'm going down the merchandise aisles I always ask if anyone needs help and they say 'NO' I got this.... I even try to smile or crack jokes but noone seems to even want to talk to each other, or for that matter help each other out. I don't know if I can last in this job. I mean, in my opinion, what makes a job tolerable especially in these hard times is not only communication among workers but talking for me a type of therapy and stress relief. I'm a people person by nature and I love talking to people. No, I'm not a chatty-chatty person all the time, but if you talk to me I'm just a naturally nice person and talking comes easy to me.So, I guess my question is what do I do... I got a call from my old RGIS job the other day and they wanted to know if I could work for them in between when I'm not working for Target. I'm thinking RGIS must really need people but they did like me as a worker because I did work my butt off for RGIS. I don't like to bounce around from job to job, like this but I just don't know what to do.... I just wanted to point out that for some reason despite noone wanting to talk to each other, this Target seems to be #1 in inventory flow in the district, which surprises the hell out of me considering the people working at this target is very cold....I also heard that there is a BRAND NEW target opening up about 20 minutes away from my current location, but I do have plans on moving into that area in about 8 months. So, another option for me is to apply for this other Target, work the 2 targets at the same time, then when my official 90 days of probation at my target is up, I'll transfer out to another target. I know it sound complicated, but I'm still a new hire and prefer to stay at target for the time being. But, since I'm still new I have to wait 90 days before I can do anything....even transfer to a another target......IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME, MAYBE A FORMER TARGET WORKER OR EVEN TARGET MANAGER WITH ADVICE FOR ME..... OR JUST ANY ADVICE AT ALL?? moreVoting Question: Job Interviews tomorrow and next week! Help Business Graduate?
I recently graduated in May with a Bachelors in Business Administration - GENERAL. I am relocated to a metropolitan area Raleigh, NC and will share an apartment with my sister. I have an interview tomorrow at Target (part-time (stock, front-end, sales associate) and one at Macy's (2 fulltime positions- sales associate& Shoes associate). I am glad that i have been contacted after 2-4 days of applying. Rather than in my hometown it took weeks or heard nothing. I have applied at many places...assistant manager at Dots. Hope to hear from them since they need an assistant manager. MY QUESTION!: I am wondering about negotiating pay. How much should i get paid to be an assistant manager, sales associate, sales manager, sales lead, coordinator, OVERALL RANGE and WHY? To be able to get a nice FIRST CAR Ford Escape, pay rent/expenses, have leisure fun, OVERALL SAVE!! How do i tell them? Please List Pay for part time and full time and hours per day&week and if u have a position at either store with a degree. What u get paid? I have no retail experience in a public job. I had a seasonal job after high school for the summer doing Payroll (& deducting child support from pay), calculating sales reports, handling employment forms, and preparing the mail. That job was like 40 hours a week (get off early on Saturdays and only Sundays off) and was paid $5.35 per hour! I have been Secretary and President in my organization in college. I have created sale event where we created Valentine baskets and raffles and made like $400 off. I have bought my organization from "Never heard of it" to "The club to be in". Most ACTIVE! I am a naturally hard worker and dedicated. I am passionate about fashion. Some family want me to just get a job! but i don't want just any job or something i'm not happy with like working in a bank..just not me. BAGHDAD — Iraqi officials outraged by the abuse of prisoners at the U.S.-run Abu Ghraib prison are trying to contain a scandal of their own as allegations continue to surface of mistreatment inside Iraqi jails. Accounts of Iraqis being beaten with clubs, blindfolded and coerced into signing false confessions are attracting increased attention partly because the United States is getting out of the prison business in Iraq. Since a security agreement took effect Jan. 1, the U.S. has transferred 841 detainees into Iraq's crowded prison system and more are on the way. Allegations of mistreatment have persisted since 2005, when U.S. troops raided an Interior Ministry lockup in a predominantly Shiite area of southeastern Baghdad and found scores of emaciated prisoners. The matter returned to the spotlight after the June 12 assassination of Sunni lawmaker Harith al-Obeidi, an outspoken advocate of prisoner rights. The issue is a test of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's commitment to the rule of law and to reconcile with the Sunni minority, who account for most of the prisoners held in security cases. Sunnis claim they are being unfairly targeted by security forces run by al-Maliki's Shiite-dominated government. "The cases are as bad as what took place at Abu Ghraib, but it is painful when these things take place in Iraqi prisons," said Sunni lawmaker Salim Abdullah. "We met some of those who were released and saw the scars on their skins. They use different kinds of torture like tying the shoulders and hanging the body, which normally leads to dislocation of the shoulders." -The question is: In the third paragraph, the writer said " The cases are as bad as what took place at Abu Ghraib". Isn't he talking about abu gharib prison from the first paragraph? moreResolved Question: are illegals transporting drugs into the U.S.A.?
US offers $50M in rewards in drug war offensive Buzz Up Send Email IM Share Delicious Digg Facebook Fark Newsvine Reddit StumbleUpon Technorati Yahoo! Bookmarks Print By LARRY NEUMEISTER, Associated Press Writer Larry Neumeister, Associated Press Writer – Mon Jul 20, 6:13 pm ET NEW YORK – The Department of State offered up to $50 million Monday for information leading to the arrests of 10 top Mexican drug suspects accused of key roles in a violent organization estimated to have sold more than $1 billion worth of drugs in the United States. U.S. Attorney Benton J. Campbell said the reward money and new federal charges were among U.S. efforts to dismantle a powerful drug trafficking organization known as The Company, whose members came from an elite security force called Los Zetas. The only name on an indictment unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn was Miguel Trevino-Morales, a fugitive charged with operating a continuing criminal enterprise, international cocaine distribution and firearms violations. The indictment also sought the forfeiture of $1 billion in drug proceeds. Campbell said in a release that Trevino-Morales, who could face life in prison if convicted, was the principal leader of Los Zetas, a group that includes former members of the Air Mobile Special Forces Group of the Mexican military who went into the drug-smuggling business. In Washington, the Department of State announced it was offering a total of $50 million for tips leading to the capture of the defendants, including four leaders who were designated as narcotics kingpins by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control. The government said it was offering up to $5 million apiece for information leading to the arrests of 10 people, one of whom has been captured. Nineteen defendants have been charged in an indictment in federal court in Washington with drug trafficking-related crimes, and others are charged in indictments in federal court in Houston. "The joint efforts announced today are significant steps in the department's strategy to stop the flow of illegal drugs into our communities and the shipment of drug proceeds back to Mexico," Campbell said. Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer said the actions taken Monday will at least make it more difficult for the drug dealers to move cash around. "We have learned that the most effective way to disrupt and dismantle criminal organizations is to prosecute their leaders and seize their funding," she said in a release. "We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brave Mexican colleagues in the fight against these destructive cartels." The Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act, which became law in 1999, prohibits all trade and transactions between U.S. companies and individuals and significant foreign narcotics traffickers, their organizations and associates who act on their behalf. Fewer than 100 people have been designated narcotics kingpins since the first major targets were announced in June 2000. The indictment unsealed in Brooklyn said the drug organization, formerly known as the Gulf Cartel, had become the dominant force in the drug trade along the Gulf of Mexico, transporting multi-ton quantities of cocaine each month from Mexico to Texas after obtaining it in Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela and elsewhere. It said a small group of deserters from the Mexican military was taken into the drug organization in the 1990s to provide a personal security force for the organization's leader. Eventually, the security force protected the entire organization, carrying out numerous murders, kidnappings and tortures as it ensured that cocaine and other drugs moved safely through Mexico into the United States, the indictment said.JIN--- DID YA NOTICE IT SAY'S ASSOCIATED PRESS????KOOL1-- so how do we stop the drugs??? close the borders so no illegals ca transport the drugs??? moreResolved Question: Would you vote for me? What party am I?
I am a conservative on fiscal issues but on other issues I differ: 1. Taxes: The less the better on everything but we do need some sort of tax structure to pay for our government. I believe in one 'fair tax" system 2. Healthcare: I agree that something needs to be done about healthcare; it is out of control in this country. I do NOT believe the answer is socialized medicine. I would start by putting a cap/limitations on healthcare lawsuits and giving each family a tax credit (much bigger one than McCain talked about) for buying a policy. But then it would be MANDATORY that everyone buys their own policy no matter what (just like car insurance is mandatory) and you will get fined if you are not covered. I would deregulate the healthcare insurance system so that insurance companies would be more competitive in their pricing. I would also set up a scholarship/recruitment programs to encourage people to get degrees in medicine. We need more healthcare workers! 3. I am a Christian but would not force my ways down somebody's throat. It is irrelevant and against the constitution to do this. I do believe a high standard of morals no matter what religion you are. This is very important if you are in a leadership position. I would lead by example 4. Energy: I believe we need to tap into our natural resources, like natural gas and oil. Natural Gas is something I would target in a big way. Solar and Wind are okay but cannot be used everywhere in the country so more research on Nuclear would be my choice to make it safer to use. I would not pass a cap and trade to do this! I would come up with a tax credit system for businesses transitioning to "greener" methods of producing consumer products. I would map out a deadline date when all business would have to be "green" by or they would no longer get the tax credit and would have to shut down. Plain and simple. The cap and trade does not do enough to help with the environment. It just allows companies to keep producing carbon emissions by passing on the cost of their permits to the consumer OR move overseas and take jobs out of the USA. 5. Abortion: I do not believe in abortion unless extreme case such as rape or incest...or medical reasons for the mother's health. I understand that the government should not tell a woman what to do with her body..However, it is not the governments telling women to go out and have irresponsible sex. There are MANY methods of birth control now days. Abortion is murder, plain and simple. The government puts most murders in prison. 6. Gay Marriage- do not believe there is such a thing as gay marriage but would support some other form of "partnership" for gays so that they have equal rights. I do not believe it is my right to tell Gays how to live their lives but I also do not think they should try to force their lifestyle down my throat either. 7. Our huge deficit and weakened dollar: Something needs to be done about this serious issue that is growing worse daily. Even though I did not agree with McCain on a lot of things, I liked his idea of cutting government spending in half basically for several years so we could play "catch up". We also need to not have ANY pork spending. Sorry special interest groups, you need to raise your own money through non-profit. Something has to suffer when the deficit is this big, and creating tunnels for turtles/vs. preventing inflation or bankruptcy of our nation is really the priority right now. 8. Foreign Policy: I would not go around starting wars for no reason. Sorry Bush supporters. Iraq was not a very useful use of our tax dollars. I would spend lots of time visiting with all nation leaders. I would not ignore the UN (even thought they do seem useless at times). I would stand by our allies. I would stand very firm against countries that are unfriendly like N.Korea, Iran..etc. I WOULD support the military uprising in Honduras. No president should try what that guy did. Those are the countries, that if they DID provoke us through terrorism and/or an attack.... I would consider having a war..there would be a REASON. 9. Gun control- not sure how I feel about this one. I do believe we should have a right to bear arms and defend ourselves but I do think that there are too many gun related deaths in the USA. Would have to figure out how to regulate it. I just hate guns. I do not feel like it is "cool" to own one. I am sure I left something out. Like I said...I am conservative but I am not a "Gods and Guns" type conservative. My exams start on monday and i've been revising and preparing; we've been told that we're doing a film review in the exam so i've tried to do one and memorize it; i'm only year8 but i've got the highest target level in the year (level 7a/8c) which is like well shocking because most people are level 6's and i'm like level 5 in maths? 8-) and i'm only good at English so i've gotta get this level (yn). Anyway is this okay? I chose the film Taken to review because i know it quite well and i enjoyed it. anyway: Taken, despite it's retread James Bond/Jason Bourne action sequences, with car chases, drug dealing and fight scenes, works on the strength of it's lead, Liam Neeson. With an attention-capturing tagline that reads "I don't know who you are, but if you don't let my daughter go, I will find you; I will kill you", how are you not intrigued to find the conclusion of this action-packed film? The beginning may seem, and sound, a little ridiculous, however, the film is entertaining to say the least. You can't go wrong in watching this exciting thriller. When Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) retires from the government business to spend more time with his beloved daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) he is not too pleased when Kim has the oppurtunity to go to Paris with her friend Amanda. Reluctantly, Bryan agrees, as long as she calls him when she arrives and every night before she goes to sleep. While on the phone to Bryan one day, Kim sees Amanda being attacked by strangers on the other side of the apartment, and it is a matter of minutes before Kim is kidnapped by an Albanian sex trafficking ring. Using his fascinating skills and abilities, Bryan has to find her before she is lost forever. Produced and co-written by 'The Professional' and 'La Femme Nikita' director Luc Besson, the story is clichéd and predictable, but Neeson is the attraction. For an action film, it has all the elements you could possibly imagine: violence, fighting and a happy ending and with a running time of 90 minutes, the pace is quick and steady. It's the same man-saves-the-day stuff we've seen in the past, only with an interesting twist, so sit back and enjoy the movie. ?xx moreResolved Question: If the Fed is targeting the money supply, it loses control over the interest rate?

"Internal planning factors Those factors relate to what is happening inside the business. It will be planning of the available resources (labour force) and how to develop them within the business to operate successfully. Human resources are all the people who work for a business. Organisational needs Most of businesses constantly developing and changes and all employees must be able to adapt to these changes. Lots of employees don’t like changes. They want to keep doing jobs that they know how to do and understand. They may be moody and unmotivated because they don’t want to face new situations. To avoid this there must be someone who can retrain them and navigate through change well. The demand for products and services has a huge affect on the number of employees needed for that role. Businesses need to make adjustments to their workforce and plan for the future to operate successfully and meet customer expectations. Chester Zoo provides catering facilities for its visitors, such as Victorian Manor House, situated opposite the Lions and next to the Roman Garden or fully licensed bar and beer garden. The demand for catering would vary depending on season and Chester Zoo must make adjustments to their workforce by reducing the workforce or by expanding the workforce. For example, during summer, temperature s higher and demand for drinks will be higher, so Chester Zoo may need additional staff. Some businesses may also decide to expand into different countries and market to target different group of people because opportunities for growth and increase profit in the UK are limited. This expansion may mean that they require different types of employees, for example; someone who can speak foreign languages or someone who want to travel and work abroad. A Lot of people may not be interested in working abroad because they have family and it could be difficult to find adequate person for this vacancy. Technological changes also effect the internal working arrangements. Nowadays customers are frequently using the internet to but products and services. It often leads to staff reductions, because a business don’t need as great numbers of staff in physical stores. It also applies to Chester Zoo because in the nearest future they may allow their visitors to buy tickets trough their website. IS THIS good enough for touchpoint essay help me PLS?
In this essay, Luevano initiates a theological reflection on the cases of the approximately 250 missing and 500 murdered women of Juarez-Chihuahua, Mexico. The women are victims of femicide, the murder of women by men. Luevano's main purpose is to engage femicide as a theological challenge. After presenting a brief description of the social, political, and economic conditions that have fostered violence against women in Northern Mexico, the author focuses on exploring how the mutilated and dismembered bodies of these women call for an appropriate theological analysis. Finally, the essay concludes with a reflection on the power and the necessity of developing theological and ethical responses to the reality of femicide. ********** In Northern Mexico, increasing numbers of violent events have dramatically affected women's lives. Since 1993, more than 250 women have disappeared and at least 500 women have been killed in the border town of Juarez, Mexico, and surrounding state of Chihuahua. (1) Domestic violence was the cause of approximately two-thirds of these murders. The rest can likely be attributed to targeted violence surrounding narcotics trafficking. Young women between the ages of ten and thirty are kidnapped, tortured, raped, and murdered. In many cases, their bodies are mutilated; in most cases, their remains are dumped in the desert slums on Juarez's outskirts. On occasion, murderers leave victims' bodies in the city's central business district, in what appears to be an arrogant display of perpetrators' immunity from the law. (2) These crimes are commonly referred to as "The Maquiladora Murders," a reference to the women's factory-worker status. I contend that they are part of a wider cycle of violence called "femicide." (3) I base my approach on observations and data gathered during field research in Juarez and El Paso, Texas, where I interviewed people directly affected by murder and others beyond the borderlands who have taken an interest in the situation there. I approach the Juarez-Chihuahua femicides from the standpoint of my own theological sensitivities and concerns. Their deaths call for an appropriate response in which the horror of femicide is opposed and denounced in word and deed. Such a response must analyze and address all conditions that cause or allow these women to be murdered without consequence. Thus in this essay, I focus on our response to the call of these events. Ultimately, I believe the Juarez-Chihuahua femicides are a modern-day summons to conversion for us all. Only bold attention to the stark reality of the Juarez-Chihuahua femicides constitutes an adequate starting point for comprehensive consideration of this evil. Lack of such attention would more likely than not result in failure to see and accept the Juarez-Chihuahua femicides for what they are. Such failure would undermine the prophetic potency of this event and could lead to an idealization or glorification of the historically imposed suffering of these women. A wealth of comprehensive feminist theology rightly argues against such idealization and glorification. I have divided my reflection into three sections. First, I present a brief description of the social, political, and economic conditions that created the environment fostering violence against women in Northern Mexico for more than fourteen years. Second, I focus on exploring how the mutilated and dismembered bodies of these women are part of the Juarez-Chihuahua theological event that calls for an appropriate response. Last, I point out the necessity of developing theological and ethical responses from the theological community to the reality of femicide. A Culture of Violence as the Context of Femicide: The Impact of Globalization Several factors have contributed to support an environment of violence against women and femicide in Northern Mexico. I suggest that these factors are structurally related to the processes of globalization affecting this specific context. Among these factors, my research shows the importance of considering the prevalent governmental corruption, North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), las invasiones (the invasions), the drug cartel, and shifts in gender roles. moreResolved Question: i can end the planet in a holocaust?

Holding yourself accountable and setting the example? Getting the right people in the right seats on the bus? Having everyone in the company pulling in the same direction? How do you get started? Do you need to review and possibly modify the systems you already have in place? A strong culture of accountability will not only serve your company well in the current economic downturn but also make your business better positioned when the economy recovers to more normal levels. ______________________________________________________ Now let’s play another round of: TRANSLATE THAT CORPORATE ESOTERIC JARGON! I’ll go first! … To me, this message translates to: BLAME THE EMPLOYEE! Yes! Blame the employee for the consequences of your psychopathic economics and reckless greed, establish unrealistic expectations then FEEL GOOD about firing them! Okay? Now it’s your turn to... TRANSLATE THAT CORPORATE ESOTERIC JARGON!Willhelm, OMG, I never heard that one before! That is some crazy stuff. Here's my translation (which is pretty much the same as yours): War is good for the economy because it creates jobs! Jobs are good! War is good! (and how about, while Blackwater conducts its private war for profit, you complain about it then I argue): Hey, government doesn't belong in our boardrooms! It's up to the executives and shareholders to determine how they operate their business.U bin called, "Should"? Who decides what I "should" do? Me? No, I won't work like I "should". I will contribute the absolute minumum I can get away with and I will grab all the disproportionate value I can as effortlessly as possible. Does any of that sound familiar? It "should" sound familiar... It's called "FREE ENTERPRISE". My society taught me how to do it commencing with my first baby steps. I am as patriotic an American as it gets. If you read between the lines written by people like me, you would recognize I only want the legitimate value of my contribution, not less, and not more. Until that day comes, I will exploit the system for all it's worth, gobble up all my entitlements and stiff you with the bill. You "should" praise me for that because I am supporting your beliefs. moreResolved Question: We are software company. HI I am so confused right now. I studied HR but due to changing economy right now could never break in, but am good at sales. In a few months alone I have been conisdered for a few jobs but each one asks you to give up on normal rates of pay or emlpoyment conditions. Its very depressing to me as I dont know what to say yes to and at the same time am very conflicted about which one to do. 1. I started a contract role in sales where their contractor fired me for eating lunch at my desk. They didnt know this so when they found out fired him and said I can come back. The others left due to his behaviour rubbing everyone up the wrong way, but I am wonderng if THIS is the real reason they want me..no staff left. Its after hours phone sales. 2. In the mean time I had said yes to a job that was full time BUT commission only, phone sales. As pretty much the only girl there with most of the guys slob, i found it depressing. Unless you make money there is no pay, and the guys qued up to talk to me. Given its ilegal to not pay us, I found it a bit much to expect us to be there 9-6pm when its the sales you get, not the hours. I found most of the guys were uneducated and it was depressing being sized up as a date or treated as a guy. I know sounds negative but each job is the lessor of 2 evils. Even when I said I was sick for a week, they still wanted me to come back. I found myself overwhelmed with very macho conversations etc. 3. I just said yes to an after hours role selling on the phone for charity. 4. Two other ridiculuous roles..I was approached for a head hunter role...at 1/5 of what the role should pay, and another at 50% comission no base pay. In Oz this is extraordinary as you can't NOT pay someone. I am so depressed as I like to work but it seems like they are all coming out of the woodwork during the down turn. The 'no pay' is as they are breaking the law or realise their is no business to get. Does anyone think anyone is headhuntnig right now or holding on to their jobs for dear life? All this mini - job hopping as they are all cr@p means I am very despressed and somewhat isolated with no time to lead my normal life at all. Which ODD JOB should I say yes to given that NONE of them guarrantee pay. The 9-6 one was a bit to long for me in that i was tired but I feel like an idiot,..they are all 'think outside the box' roles but for me its like trying to hit a moving target. These jobs did not appear until this year...Autralia is not in a recession but lowered confidence only...do I do a pure adrenalin role or security? American's can probably answer this as they are way down the recession path. I am so gutted I CAN'T make a decision... I appreciate any input, especially from those in pure commissoin or headhunting. I am very sure its against my HR ethos to DO semi legal jobs. Thanks much appreciated. moreResolved Question: RESUME HELP! Can I aks for some outside assistance?
I have been unemployed for just about 8 months right now. My resume, when the job market was good, was a decent resume. I had some help from an associate at the last institution I worked for, however, reviewing it, I do not feel it is all that strong. Could I get some help or just another set of eyes to look at it and let me know what you think? Also, should I list my unemployed status? I am working part time at Target while unemployed for some supplemental income, should I post that? Should I leave Linens n Things on there, even thought it was only one month? Hello. I'm looking to start a Web Hosting business aiming at SOHO/SME businesses and aiming B2B prospects. I have a good idea on how I wish to run the business and it's infrastructure - I've got 4 years in the Web industry under my belt so I do know quite a bit. Few questions: 1. What's the best/preferred place to read up on Web Hosting marketing trends and where I can read about possible niches and successful markets. 2. Does anyone know of any reliable outsourcing agencies (NOT India - I wish to make clients comfortable and be a very responsive company). Specialists in PHP, ASP(.NET), ColdFusion, JavaScript, Windows Server, Linux. 3. Any great areas to target possible leads? (I'm thinking of direct mailing, surveys, questionnaires, forums) I understand there is a lot of competition out there for Web Hosting. But I strongly feel that I can become successful with the right leads and market direction.
