George Takei of `Star Trek' says he's planning to marry longtime partner and business manager
LOS ANGELES - George Takei said he will wed his longtime partner and business manager, Brad Altman, now that the California Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage.
Takei, the original Mr. Sulu on "Star Trek," said on his Web site that he and Altman have shared their lives for more than 21 years and are "overjoyed" to be able to legally marry.
"No more 'separate but equal.' No more second-class citizenship," wrote Takei, 71. "Brad and I are going to be married as full citizens of our state."
Takei, who also had a recurring role on NBC's "Heroes" last year, said he and Altman are planning the details of their wedding.

So for the first half of the year, we've grown total revenues by 14%, normalized EBITDA by 33%, and EPS from continuing operations by 132%. And we generated operating cash flow of over $81 million which is significantly higher than our net income. We also returned over $150 million of capital to our shareholders by repurchasing our stock at a discount to where it trades today.
These results were driven by the successful execution of the same strategy we have followed since 2005 and again reiterated at our annual Investor Day, last March. more
E-ticketing player eyes Latin America
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently held a seminar to educate tourist business operators in IT and online marketing to make them more internationally competitive, reports Pattaya Daily News.
Previously, TAT created the www.etourisminsight.com Web site as an information centre on e-marketing for the Thai tourist business, and now it is also to be a research centre for IT.
The E-Marketing Day for Tourism SMEs 2008 seminar included e-marketing strategies for the tourist business operators and executives.

Most Vista Business Buyers Downgrade To Windows XP, HP Says
An official at PC maker Hewlett-Packard said the majority of the company's business customers are downgrading new computers from Windows Vista to Windows XP -- raising questions about Microsoft's Vista sales figures.
PCs downgraded from Vista to XP represent "the majority of business computers we are selling today," said HP marketing manager Jane Bradburn, in an interview this week with Australian tech publication APC.
Microsoft officially retired Windows XP on June 30 after seven years on the market. But a loophole in Microsoft's business software license lets computer users downgrade the Windows Vista operating system on new machines to XP at no additional cost.
Businesses, which for the most part have balked at Vista's system requirements, intrusive security measures, and incompatibility with older software, are apparently taking full advantage of the downgrade option. more
