Business Lead Generation Questions asked

Open Question: Why do all Liberal movements die off so fast?

Throughout our history, this is sadly the case. History repeats itself. Liberal leftwing movements are like the high on a drug, followed by the low. Let me give examples 1) In Britain you had Neoclassic literature (based on reason)....then for 30 years you had idealistic Romantic literature (Liberal-like) that thrived from the poets like (William Wordsworth)...the idealism then yielded to the Victorian Age. 2) In the New England Renaissance, there was a short age of Transcendentalism...the Liberal movement of 19th century thinking, it too lost momentum rather quickly. 3) In the 1800s there were numerous socialist utopian experiments, they all were exciting and then collapsed within 10-15 year spans. 4) The Bolshevik Revolution: The Marxist utopian vision at first was spectacular until it was toppled by a new class of elite, who hijacked Marxism into Totalitarianism. 5) The French Revolution: Same great feeling among the peasantry....and then came Napoleon. 6) The 1960s and Civil Rights.....the hippie generation...acid rock........it all died with the economic challenges of the 1970s (hyperinflation) and then the exodus of wealth from downtown cities for suburban sprawl.....leading to a NEW age of segregation between city and suburban life (with the exception of Manhattan), then solved by gentrification of downtown cities.....leading to the elimination of urban cultures..... 7) The beginning of the Internet Age....this was where the masses had the ultimate opportunity to catch up with the business community....and they did.....with the dot com era!........Then the dot coms went bust......now the hype is gone.... 8) National Conference on Organized Resistance, Washington, DC campus of American University....(1997 thru 2008) This was a large set of workshops from the political left ranging from everything from anarchy to civil disobedience to artistic political expression to bio-disesel-fuel.....to feminism....to veganism....to alternatives to pills for mental illnesses......to nonviolent protests......Crowds of 5,000 people every January gathered on the campus courtyard...... until 2008 when no college student who hadn't graduated agreed to sponsor the workshop on their campus......the umbrella group discontinued itself indefinitely...... as a result........the entire production died off......and now the whole thing is gone completely...... So I ask....why does this happen? 7)Perhaps the very last of these is the Obama movement? From inauguration to where we are nowbut I think Liberals should not give up, Liberal movement are beautiful....but they are like fall foliage...they are all short-lived because they are inspirational but not fiscally sustainable..... but inspiration is an element to life as enriching as economic stability...you wait till the next autumn...in a sense....it comes and goes...Liberal movements are cyclicalEdit: Let me explain...Liberal movements are based passion in a society in the name of that freedom. The lack of that passion nulls whatever political system you are in. For example, if I go outside and scream FREE SPEECH to the top of my lungs, I will be arrested for disrupting the peace, if not that....my reputation for insanity will deprive me of any future endeavors...... Unexercised passion in a Liberal system makes the system as unliberating as any other system.Democracy is a Liberal idea when it is EXCERCISED. But it is NOT a Liberal idea when Democracy means 2 political parties with merely identical agendas who debate behind closed doors develop policies based on representatives who are elected based on knowledge from the media sources with the most airtime to influence such public opinion, bought with dollars from the largest corporate industrial giants who oligarchy and multinationalism forbids other entrants. That's where we are at right now....the name is "Democacy"....but it is not so Democratic.....it is just a term for people led to think their votes count for something more

Open Question: How to extend a bright 16-yo boy's horizons beyond heavy rock?

Family culture centered on "insight and wisdom" and social activism for generations, even with minimal educational opportunities and necessary distractions of business. But now very intelligent, astute, perspicacious, lucid, engaging 16yo grandson intent solely on rock guitar and becoming a sound engineer - uninterested in wider prospects of a University education beyond mere "trade skills", despite an advantaged private college education and trips overseas to Europe and Asia. Twin sister keen to "change the world". Mother (my daughter) a leading psychiatrist, outstanding horsewoman, social activist, etc. Father wasted intelligence on business etc. But my grandkids and I have always talked so well and widely - and now I think grandson's opting out of life. How can I fire my boy's engagement with 5000 years of human thought, and even longer Evolution? Disaster! Help! I'm sure the problem is common in the West nowadays, just when materialist myopia dominates globally, and humanity needs help and critical thought most desperately! more

Open Question: Religiously Divided We Fail, dismay at the bitter political climate is it fixable by mankind or God, which one?

We stand as strong champions for the new American dream -- to build a 21st century America where these issues are paramount so that all people can have the opportunity for a prosperous future. We also believe that individuals, businesses, health care providers, non-profit organizations, and government must work together to find solutions - personally, privately and publicly. We represent tens of millions of Americans and we believe that all of us share a responsibility for making our society work and restoring peace of mind to all Americans. This is our platform for positive change and our commitment to current and future generations. Divided We Fail, but together we can do anything. by Jim Mannion – Mon Feb 15, 4:27 pm ET WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President Barack Obama suffered another setback Monday as a fifth Democratic senator, centrist heavyweight Evan Bayh, decided not to run for re-election in dismay at the bitter political climate. Is Divided We Fail the bitter political climate right NOW? But do you hate the real fix below? Are you living a righteous life so to see the day when exquisite delight in the abundance of peace is genuine? "These words are faithful and true." Psalms 37:1-11 Of David. "1 Do not show yourself heated up because of the evildoers. Do not be envious of those doing unrighteousness. 2 For like grass they will speedily wither, And like green new grass they will fade away. 3 Trust in Jehovah and do good; Reside in the earth, and deal with faithfulness. 4 Also take exquisite delight in Jehovah, And he will give you the requests of your heart. 5 Roll upon Jehovah your way, And rely upon him, and he himself will act. 6 And he will certainly bring forth your righteousness as the light itself, And your justice as the midday. 7 Keep silent before Jehovah And wait longingly for him. Do not show yourself heated up at anyone making his way successful, At the man carrying out [his] ideas. 8 Let anger alone and leave rage; Do not show yourself heated up only to do evil. 9 For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." Romans 12:9 "Let [YOUR] love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good. 10 In brotherly love have tender affection for one another. In showing honor to one another take the lead." Key point we take the lead, do not wait for others to do it first! The golden rule of treating others right first! (Matt. 7:12) Sample we do it first! Without hypocrisy! Let anger alone and leave rage! Sample if we have love in our heart! Revelation 21:3 "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” 5 And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new.” Also, he says: “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”" Jehovah is saying this is a genuine hope if we can love even our enemies too! Is that too much to ask of us? If we want abundance of peace we must be peaceful too and not let the bad actions of others change our love toward them. Not sample but doable! Try it! If one and all followed that righteous act war would be no more! How nice! I strongly recommend that people read the letter to the Galatians more so the 5th chapter for the high standards to be there in the near future. Is the bitter political climate right to fix all world problems? To serious to ignore that needed question! Centrist heavyweight question!Ungodly posted Ezekiel 23:20 so I put that in search and he seems to have a wicked reason to post it but I found this! "Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary Ezekiel 23:1-49 A history of the apostacy of God's people from him, and the aggravation thereof. - In this parable, Samaria and Israel bear the name Aholah, her own tabernacle; because the places of worship those kingdoms had, >were of their own devising.< Jerusalem and Judah bear the name of Aholibah, my tabernacle is in her, because their temple was the place which God himself had chosen, to put his name [Jehovah] there. The language and figures are according to those times." That is just like apostacy today! Religously divided the nations fail and are in dismay at the bitter political climate that is keeping it divided. Jerusalem and Judah bear the name of Aholibah and divided religion today who hate the name of God Jehovah are called Babylon the Great in Revelation and they keep the nations divided with no peace and security!Today [2/16/10] Yahoo News: Disillusioned Bayh advocates electoral “shock” to broken system "In an interview on MSNBC this morning, newly retiring Sen. Evan Bayh declared the American political system "dysfunctional," riddled with "brain-dead partisanship" and permanent campaigning." Permanent, IN BRIEF: "Lasting or meant to last for a very long time; not temporary or changing." The American political system is dysfunctional as all human governments are coming to be! "He also stated repeatedly that members of his own party should be more willing to settle for a compromise rather than holding out for perfection. "Sometimes half a loaf is better than none," Bayh insisted. It's no secret that the Senate has struggled to take action this year. With the two major parties unusually far apart in their substantive proposals for the direction of the country, even finding half a loaf to agree on has been difficult." This not yesterday or tomorrow but is happening NOW! (Dan. 2:44) more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this as a beginning for a story?

If you notice any grammatical errors, I would appreciate it if you tell me. Asides from that, what do you think about how it is going? I still can’t believe it. After ten years of fighting, watching thousands dying, and leading tens of thousands in our generation’s war, that my reward is a cramped, stuffy, silent ride to my execution. We can’t afford the risk for a convoy, so it’s me, my second-in-command, another of my generals, and a few soldiers in a beat up SUV winding through the tall pines. Despite the dense eerie fog that entombs the vehicle, we can’t give away our position by turning on the headlights. We just have to pray the moonlight keeps the way lit enough for navigating. This was never the way I imagined my death, a silent, sterile ride almost like a business transaction. I always thought I would die doing something extraordinary with my wife right there with me. If anything, I thought this was how the enemy would be delivered to me, the top three leaders coming to grovel for mercy. I’d be standing there with the sword given to me by the leader before me as a symbol of my power. And as they were begging for mercy, the justice denied to the American people for twenty long bloody years would fall on their necks, watering the tree of liberty with tyrants’ blood instead of patriots’. A pothole in the road jerks me awake. The fog has lifted just enough for me to make out the burned carcasses of tanks we had strafed a few months back. I flashback to the carnage as if the foot of old snow was instantly licked away by flames spewing out of the engines. I could see the icicles fall of the main gun as it tried to take out one of our tunnel systems. Instead of the mounds of snow I could see the mounds of corpses bleeding out onto the marshy ground by the side of the road. A few months ago, the corpses were piled up in six-foot tall mounds; now they were only three feet. I guess the animals didn’t drag all of them off into the darkness to be devoured. Out from behind the tanks I could see the forms of men jumping out of their protection only to be cut down instantly like wheat before the scythe. But, there was a form coming out from behind the tank. Struggling to keep upright while trudging through the snow. I told the captain that was driving to pull over. As the vehicle skidded to a stop, I jumped out into the wall of cold air, not realizing I had taken my jacket off long before. Small flakes started to outline my figure as another snow flurry moved in. But neither cold nor snow could keep me from trying to help this stranger who was holding onto a hope that each step would bring him closer to warmth. I did my best to maintain my balance on top of the snow, only to have my efforts end in less than graceful stumbles every few feet. When I got to the figure, which had collapsed in the snow from exhaustion, I realized the rest of the group had stayed behind, thinking I had gone behind a tree for some personal business. I bent down to pick up the soul in need, when I realized that some thick cloud cover had moved in while I was struggling to the person. Not being able to make out where the SUV was, all I could do was shout out for them to bring part of the firewood we had brought for the trip. I started to comfort the man who I was now able to help. A few minutes later I heard the deep crunching of snow under the boots of my second-in-command, O’Hare. He had turned on his headlamp, breaking the whole “No Lights” rule, and making me shrink back in pain for a moment. He dropped a few planks by my legs, and started to make a splint out of them. “Which leg did you break?” came his rough yet soothing Irish voice from behind the light. “It’s not for a splint, it’s for a fire. We need to get this guy warmed up.” I turned around to continue comforting the man, now that I could see his face and find out who he is. However, he had vanished into thin air. There wasn’t even an indent in the snow where he had laid, or footprints where he had walked. Just my shadow cast by the intense light of my friend. “What guy?” he asks as he draped my thick overcoat on my back. “Never mind.” I mutter as I stand up. Not again. I thought these were done with. How long must these ghosts of my mistakes haunt me? By now, the others had found us amongst the snow, carrying guns, food, and blankets. O’Hare turned to address them. “Well lads, he’s fine. Let’s get back to the suburban. We need to make it to the next town before sun up.” “No,” I said. “We’ll camp here for now. We can hit the road tomorrow night. Let’s sleep in one of the tunnels. It’ll be more secure than in the trees.” O’Hare had obvious objections, but he waited until the others were out of hearing distance on their own jobs. “We won’t be able to make it to the capitol in three days if we stop. We should keep going.” “We will make it. If need be, I’ll drive a vehicle during the last day while you guys head back. They won’t shoot a more

Resolved Question: Do we have the Cheney oil-centric energy policy to thank for this?

January 31, 2010 **China Leading Global Race to Make Clean Energy** By KEITH BRADSHER TIANJIN, China — China vaulted past competitors in Denmark, Germany, Spain and the United States last year to become the world’s largest maker of wind turbines, and is poised to expand even further this year. China has also leapfrogged the West in the last two years to emerge as the world’s largest manufacturer of solar panels. And the country is pushing equally hard to build nuclear reactors and the most efficient types of coal power plants. These efforts to dominate the global manufacture of renewable energy technologies raise the prospect that the West may someday trade its dependence on oil from the Mideast for a reliance on solar panels, wind turbines and other gear manufactured in China. “Most of the energy equipment will carry a brass plate, ‘Made in China,’ ” said K. K. Chan, the chief executive of Nature Elements Capital, a private equity fund in Beijing that focuses on renewable energy. President Obama, in his State of the Union speech last week, sounded an alarm that the United States was falling behind other countries, especially China, on energy. “I do not accept a future where the jobs and industries of tomorrow take root beyond our borders — and I know you don’t either,” he told Congress. The United States and other countries are offering incentives to develop their own renewable energy industries, and Mr. Obama called for redoubling American efforts. Yet many Western and Chinese executives expect China to prevail in the energy-technology race. Multinational corporations are responding to the rapid growth of China’s market by building big, state-of-the-art factories in China. Vestas of Denmark has just erected the world’s biggest wind turbine manufacturing complex here in northeastern China, and transferred the technology to build the latest electronic controls and generators. “You have to move fast with the market,” said Jens Tommerup, the president of Vestas China. “Nobody has ever seen such fast development in a wind market.” Renewable energy industries here are adding jobs rapidly, reaching 1.12 million in 2008 and climbing by 100,000 a year, according to the government-backed Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association. Yet renewable energy may be doing more for China’s economy than for the environment. Total power generation in China is on track to pass the United States in 2012 — and most of the added capacity will still be from coal. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/business/energy-environment/31renew.html?ref=world&pagewanted=print more

Resolved Question: Which option would you prefer - no government aid or massive government aid?

As a nation we've spent more than we've earned since the 1950s. Every politician has kicked the problems down the road for future generations to solve. And now it's finally caught up with us. We blame Clinton, or Bush, or Obama... but the real blame lies with us, the American consumer. Our debt to income ratio went from 50% in the 1950s to 150% in 2007. We have two main options now. First, the government can end all support of any kind including subsidies, bailouts, etc...This of course would lead to massive unemployment and systemic business failures, but it would help us pay off some debt. Second, spend huge amounts of money in government subsidies to prop up a failing economy. This will avoid the unemployment and business failures, but it makes the original problem worse. Or maybe you have a third option? If you support no government aid - how many months/years of unemployment would you be willing to go through? If you support massive aid - how will you prepare your kids for a bleak future?@ Nikki - Maybe you personally don't deserve blame, but the average American consumer does. It's all about accepting personal responsibility. more

Resolved Question: Does Sheriff Joe Apraio of AZ take Arizona's Latino purchasing power into consideration...?

.....when he deports more Latinos out of Arizona? Does his administration have plans to make up for those millions lost to the county? Please be specific with your answers, and include any sources....thanks! http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2009/11/18/20091118biz-datos1118.html Latino purchasing power grows The purchasing power of Hispanics is growing at a rate nearly three times as fast as that of the general population in Arizona and nationwide, said an Arizona State University business expert who has studied the market for 14 years. Even though Hispanic spending is slowing because of the downturn in the economy, overall, it continues to grow because the number of Hispanics is rising and they are rapidly approaching a majority status in many parts of the country, said Loui Olivas, professor emeritus at ASU's W.P. Carey School of Business. A third-generation native Phoenix resident, Olivas leads a group of graduate students who study the Hispanic market. He estimates that Hispanic purchases reached $31 billion in Arizona last year compared with $28 billion the year before.Olivas forecasts that it will reach $48 billion in four years. Hispanics accounted for about 16 percent of purchases in Arizona last year, compared with 8.9 percent nationwide. They now control $951 billion in spending power in the nation, and Olivas expects that to reach $1 trillion this year or next. more

Resolved Question: Is my answer okay to this question? Need your economic expertise?

Do accidents cause people? Children born out of wed lock are commonly viewed as accidents, an unwanted side effect of intercourse. It was therefore widely expected that better contraception and the legalization of abortion would sharly decrease the number of such children. In fact, the pattern has been the opposite. Improved contraception and increased access to abortion developed Western societies has been associated with a sharp, perhaps unparelleled increase in births. Can you offer explanations for that consistent with the economic approach to human behaviour? This is my answer, please let me know if I should elaborate more. Due to recent advancements of contraception and more openly-legalized abortions, unintended pregnancies have caused the population to increase causing economic strain on society. Due to the fact these saviors such as birth control are now more pertinent and readily available; people feel the need to be more sexually active and irresponsible which leads to more births. Some individuals may make their decisions based on lack of morality, education, and economical factors. Assuming everyone who has an unwanted pregnancy believes and decides to abort, the cost of abortion would be the only concern if money really mattered. In Economics Uncut on pg 320, the average price of an abortion is listed to be $370. However the amount of service an abortion clinic is receiving at that time may dictate the price of their services. If someone is in a rural area and plans to have an abortion, they may pay a higher price due to the lack of clinic availability and the amount of business received. Due to recent hardship for some, an abortion may be too expensive even though making the opposite decision would be a life long expensive choice to others. I believe people who cannot afford to abort may end up relying on government assistance to aid them financially. When government aid is dependent upon by these parties, taxpayers are doomed to pick up the extra charges and this cycle effects everyone economically and continues to circulate to the next generation if they are not educated properly about abstinence and contraception. more

Resolved Question: Why are the majority of the youths' education in North America inept in the English language?

I try very hard, but I cannot seem to write properly with the traditional tools of the pen and paper while I can see clearly what I am writing about on a monitor screen with a keyboard. One of my in-class assignments was hand-written. I received the latest in-class assignments back from my professor and I felt my heart sunk into a void where I essentially believed that I could not write, read, or even speak the English language. I felt horrible. I was shattered into a million pieces. I choked on my own spit and my mind ran shaking thoughts of discontinue going to school. I felt that discouraged as the markings on my assignment reminded me of the times during elementary where the teachers had to point out every single mistake I had made on a paragraph as I could not comprehend the proper structure of a paragraph or its sentences. At that moment, my mind went blank, detached, mindless you may say, but as I walked out of that classroom, I wanted to cry. I felt humiliated and undetermined to do anything accomplishing. All of my life I had always thought of myself inept in the English language until my college years. My professors then were very encouraging and found my writing works excellent for business and politics. However, from those encouragements alone made me wanted to step up from college to university into a Humanities program. It was a whole different level. The writing and reading was obviously academic and on a higher scale than what a young adult or a teenager would be able to read on a swift speed. Who can truly understand H.L.A. Hart's concepts and criticisms of natural law and legal positivists' theories through one read? I certainly cannot. The words just are not simply processing in my mind. I wish there was another way. Perhaps I should change majors and not aspire to be a lawyer. It's expensive (except in Quebec) and difficult to accomplish when practising as one. I know this because I currently work for a lawyer in a private law firm. Anyway, my boss complained about how the youth of today's generation are not adept in the English language. They cannot write, spell, or even read properly. We are always on a fast-paced level where we cannot stop for one minute to figure things out slowly and meticulously. We never try to slow down, and whenever we do, we are considered to be mentally retarded or slow. The faster we go, the faster we try, we are depicted as fast learners, thinkers, and achievers. Perhaps. If not so, then from your point of view, what is the case with most of the today's youth generation has an inept understanding of the English language from its most simple basic to complex structures. For instance, it's not statue, it's statute. It's not lead, it's led. Small things like it's or its or its', or Boss' or boss's, etc... to complexities such as dangling modifiers. I have never heard of them before! Not until we were lectured in tutorial class from the same professor who implied I sucked horribly in the English language. Well, anyway, you can voice you opinion about it, doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, I just want to hear from you. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: its 646 words. i need to shorten it to 500 words. how do i do that? i cut it down from 2000+ words so i cant f?

figure out how to make it any shorter!!! It’s a fact that life without air conditioner would be extremely different from what it is now. Air conditioning has improved our economy, society, and culture, and has changed the way Americans live, walk, and play. Despite the many positive outcomes, Americans have definitely become to reliant on it. Willis Havilland Carrier created air conditioning in 1902 while working at a printing house. The irregularities in the humidity and temperature made the inks misalign. Carrier’s invention lowered the humidity and also held it at a constant level. Air conditioning lowered the humidity of air by “balancing the temperature of the coils, through which cold air passed, with the rate of flow to reach the desired dew-point level”(Willis Carrier, par.4). 20th century social scientists theorized that “hot weather slowed civilization down, made people lazy, and created generations of slow-witted people, justifying slavery and imperialism” (Robbins, Susanna, pg. 2). When first invented, air conditioning was only used in factories for industrial uses and did nothing to improve the comfort of the poor factory workers. As time went on, advertisement began focusing on middle class citizens and rather than being considered an industrial product, it became a social status shaper. At the time, elite, upper class Americans shunned air conditioning and claimed that they were above admitting any discomfort. That perspective of air conditioning is now gone, and over 75% of American homes have air conditioning. Social rituals to deal with summer weather such as sitting with family on porches, and summer vacations became less common. This impact is negative because families began spending less time with each other. Before air conditioning was used for comfort purposes, it was used mainly in America’s industry. Air conditioning wasn’t limited to only printing plants. Tobacco factories and textile mills also used it to improve their products. It also increased productivity in factories and other work places. Studies showed that a cooler temperature and lower humidity lead to an increase in productivity. In fact, “one 1938 study found a 51% increase in productivity during the summer months”. (The coolest America of the century, pg. 2). Not only did factories gain productivity, but places like movie theaters, restaurants, and stores gained a lot more business because customers came in to escape the heat. This impact on America’s economy is definitely positive. Without all the productivity and business gains, our economy wouldn’t have become as strong as it is now. One of the most noticeable impacts air conditioning has had on America is its culture, or more specifically, its architecture. Older homes had porches and verandas. This was where families gathered on hot evenings to escape the heat. These homes use to have thick walls, eaves, attics, breezeways, and cross ventilation; all different methods used to keep houses cool. Once air conditioning became common in houses, those methods were replaced with centrally cooled suburban houses. This impact is negative because the south lost a lot of its unique architecture. Finally, air conditioning definitely has changed the way Americans live, work, and play. Now enclosed spaces are comfortable enough to work in, maximizing productivity and space. AC is also now used for preservation. It was used while preserving the Sistine Chapel in Rome and to preserve a 500-year-old frozen Incan mummy. Air conditioning also led to the invention of the centrifugal chiller. This invention was used to cool large public areas, and used refrigerant fluid instead of ammonia. Out of all other American innovations, air conditioning might have had the greatest impact, changing American society, culture, as well as its economy. Americans have obviously become too dependent on, as they miss it when its not there. Americans now have become accustomed to being comfortable, so now, instead of going outside to enjoy the outside where they would miss the cool AC air, they would rather stay in the comfort of their air conditioned home. more

Resolved Question: Can anyone help me find what the price of what this financial problem would be?

I need to find the break even charge of this problem. I understand how to do that, my issue is that I cannot figure out what the price to charge will be. If anyone can lead me in the right direction that would be great. A city is trying to decide how much to charge residents for trash collection. They have estimated that 5,000 households and 250 businesses will use their service in the coming year. Average household trash generation is estimated to be 10 kilograms/week. Average business trash generation is estimated to be 200 kilograms/week. The city will collect trash 52 weeks per year. The city has the following annual fixed costs: Maintenance Facility $500,000 Administrative Salaries $300,000 Administrative Supplies $20,000 The only strictly variable cost is the tipping fee charged by the county landfill for trucks unloading waste. It is $2/kilogram of trash The city additioally has costs related to the trash trucks. There are two different types of trucks, one for households and one for businesses. The household trucks can serve a maximum of 1,000 households/week and the business trucks a max of 200/week. Fuel costs for the trucks are estimated to be $2.50/gallon. A household truck is estimated to consume 40,000 gallons of fuel per year and a business truck 20,000. Supplies expense for each truck is estimated at $10,000/ear regardless of the type of truck. Deprecition expense on each household truck is $20,000/year, $30,000/year for each busiess truck. For labor expense, each household truck requires 2 operators and 1 maintenance worker. Each business truck requires 1 operator and 1 maintenance worker. The average salary/worker is $40,000. The city's charge policy is for the charge for each busiess to be twice that of the charge per household. more

Resolved Question: What has this administration done regarding U.S. Aerospace companies closing the doors and moving overseas?

Aerospace is an industry that Americans can be proud of. This year alone it has been announced companies like Honeywell, MOOG, ATK and Boeing have scaled down or even closed to move production overseas. When NAFTA was signed in the mid 90s we were told the high tech jobs would stay in America. We were lead to believe that the overseas countries would produce the cheap stuff (low skill set jobs) and we would produce the high tech stuff. Ultimately we would trade with their country's economy and everyone will benefit. We are not talking about low skill set jobs in Aerospace but high skill set jobs that take years to master. Overseas nations are obtaining these skill sets and their younger generation will be able to start their own Airplane companies and possibly surpass American companies. Obama is a busy man but it concerns me he has not address the fact that businesses are still moving at the rapid rate they were when Bush was president. Why has there not been much effort made by the current administration? Americans believe in working union possibly because they don't trust big corporations to treat people with the rights they believe in. American politicians such as Biden probably feel the same but why do they look the other way when we continue to do trillions of business with countries who do not share the same thoughts towards human rights? Personally I'm disappointed in this administration who promised change. The Democrats have all the power they need and so far they have ignored the companies leaving day by day. more

Resolved Question: Why is socialism seen as being so horrible?

One can look at history and find that for many years the government had a total non intervention policy with companies. We call it the Gilded age. Companies could do as they pleased, workers had no rights to organize for better conditions, and when they attempted to do so, Federal troops were sent in to stop them. They faced truly brutal and in many cases inhumane conditions, rampant child labor, no workers compensation for injury or death, highly unfair wages, highly unsanitary and unsafe workplaces, price gouging, etc. There were huge monopolies that prevented new businesses, highly unethical business practices occurred on a daily basis, great fortunes were built on the backs of thousands of people who worked for slave wages, and the vast majority of the wealth belonged to only a select few, while almost half the nation was in poverty. History shows us what pure unrestrained capitalism leads to, and frankly it is not pretty. Yes the companies of the gilded age brought the United States untold wealth, power, and productivity, but it was at the cost of the quality of life for just about everyone. It was with the populists at the dawn of the 20th century and their socialist ideals that eliminated child labor and put children into schools, made workplaces safe and sanitary, regulated the quality food and drugs so that they were safe to consume. They initiated workman's compensation, created the first labor unions to fight for higher wages. They created government regulation of prices so that companies could not price gouge their customers. They created anti-trust laws so that small business could take root and provide niche services. The government established wilderness preserves, national parks and monuments, national forests, environmental protection regulations that are the sole reason America still has its great forests and wild areas. It was the socialist ideas and government regulation of businesses that essentially saved us from ourselves and our insatiable greed. When government regulations were relaxed in the 1920's we had a short boom followed by the great depression. To get ourselves out of that FDR gave us the New deal with all its social benefits, but it took Hitler threatening to take over the world to get our economy back on track. So, why then, is socialism so horribly feared and despised in America? Our quality of life is largely dependent on the fights for socialist ideals that previous generations fought for. It doesn't make much sense to me, so could someone please explain it to me. more

Resolved Question: Do liberals know what Marxism means?

The average American liberal leads a conservative life...working for their family, investing, climbing the business ladder....but they fall for the "feel good" campaigns of the left. Does the average, grassroots liberal know what Marxism is - that Marx's theory was captialism gives way to socialism, on the way to the promised land of communism - an ideology that historically always has failed within a couple of generations, throwing the society into chaos ? Or do they care as long as they get free stuff that others work for ? more

Resolved Question: If we nationalize health care, shouldn't we do the smae with food?

One of the great scandals of our age is the fact that America spends more on food than any other nation. Many political leaders are now calling for urgent reform to bring spending on food under control. Even worse, while the result of this uncontrolled spending includes the fact that many Americans are overweight, some Americans do not have enough to eat. Leading liberal candidates now point to what they see as the heart of the problem: corporate "greed" in the form of grocery stores and restaurants operating on a for-profit basis. They promise to replace all private grocery stores with a national system of government commissaries, which will allegedly operate far more efficiently without the administrative overhead required to make a profit. As it will take some time to organize the national network of commissaries, initially groceries will be available only at offices of the Department of Motor Vehicles and U.S. Postal Service. These offices apparently have a proven track record of operational efficiency and excellent customer service, and will be a model for the development of a government commissary system. Liberals would achieve further efficiencies, so they claim, by prohibiting all advertising of food and food products. This wasteful expense to provide consumers with unnecessary information has proven to be just a way for food stores and manufacturers to inflate prices and fatten business profits. Consumers will find shopping to be much easier if personal preference is eliminated in favor of whatever foods government makes available. To achieve savings by eliminating the profits of food manufacturers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will assume ownership of all of these firms, purchase all crops from farmers (until such time as agriculture can be reorganized into government operations) and manufacture an appropriate amount of food. In spite of the efficiencies and cost reductions that government management will achieve, there is some concern that food might not be affordable for everyone. And food is surely a "right," as it is necessary for human survival. Therefore all groceries made available in government commissaries will be free of charge. This will be financed by an increase of 15 percent in income taxes, except for those making over $80,000 a year, whose taxes will be increased by 75 percent. Because the supply of food is not unlimited, a fixed amount of ration coupons will be distributed to insure that each consumer can obtain an equal amount of food. All private restaurants will be closed because of the need to equalize availability of food, and limited cafeterias will be operated in the government commissaries. Liberal political candidates point to the excellent example of school lunch programs as a model, and the proven results demonstrated by several generations of well-nourished, trim and fit students. So far, conservative leaders are at a loss after hearing these proposals. Some of the more courageous conservatives are responding with proposals for Mandatory Food Purchasing. All citizens, including those who go to bed hungry every night, will be required to purchase membership in new Food Management Organizations. Private grocery stores and restaurants would still be permitted but under strict price controls to insure that all consumers can afford their FMO memberships. To further control costs, the purchase of certain cuts of meat and imported gourmet foods could require the FMO's advance approval. Across the political spectrum, there is a developing consensus that the only appropriate response to the fact that some consumers cannot afford groceries is to impose a single, regimented, government-controlled food system on all citizens. Advocates point to public education as an example of how forcing all but the children of the most wealthy citizens into the gray, sterile desert of a poorly performing public education system is the only way to insure that poor children receive any education at all. Rumor has it that the clincher for those proposing socialized grocery plans was stated recently by one of the presidential candidates: "The ideal thing about these proposals is that if we can somehow get this to work for groceries, we can apply it to health care." more

Resolved Question: Does former employer have grounds to sue me for opening up a business that competes w/ hers?

I worked at a lead generation/business development company for 1 year. After realizing how easy the business was I decided to start my own business along the same lines. Boss is now harassing me and threatening legal actions. Does she have grounds for a law suite. I never signed a no compete clause or a nondisclosure clause. Only thing ever signed was a basic employee handbook that clarified time off, overtime pay, etc and other basic employee regulations. more

Voting Question: english assignment dream job?

have to write a 4-6 minute speech about the dream job this is the criteria my dream job is to work in McDonald's 1.job title and detailed description 2.revel ant qualifications 3.places of employment 4.personality and personal skills/abilities required 5.physical skills/abilities required 6.your suitability for the job and an explanation as to why this your dream job My dream job is to own my own franchise at McDonalds Who had dreamt about owning his own business since I was a little kid, first considered the option owning McDonald's franchisee about 8 years ago. My dream slowly became reality when, , i began the process of opening my own store. "I thought it might be an interesting opportunity for me to take that wouldn't be so risky.” i had worked for 3 years with a Fortune 100 company, serving in several management positions in the technical, operations and training aspects of the bottling and canning business. When he started looking into what type of business he'd like to invest in, i looked for one that would allow him to use his past management experience in the food industry and make him a part of what he felt was a winning team.” I’m used to working with a company that's No. 1 in their field, and McDonald's is," . "I wanted to stay No. 1, to be a leader in the industry.” While going through franchise training with McDonald's, i did have some fears about going out on his own, but many of those were quickly dispelled. "When you step out there kind of by yourself, you're a bit hesitant, "I found McDonald's very supportive through the initial start-up, and that took my fear away.” I opened my store in brisbane in January 2008. i want to employ about 41 full- and part-time employees, and works five to six days a week on the day-to-day operations of the store and on different community activities. We have an unparalleled global infrastructure and competencies in restaurant operations, real estate, retailing, marketing and franchising. We are a leader in the area of social responsibility. We actively share our knowledge and expertise in food safety and are committed to protecting the environment for future generations. Yet, we have not achieved our growth expectations for the past several years. So, our challenge is to leverage our strengths to profitably serve more customers more ways more often. I am suitable for this position in the fast food industry because I demonstrate these important qualities. I believe I have many skills to offer in particular that I am a very honest and reliable individual who is highly motivated and thrives on challenges. This would be an asset as I would be able to deal with fast flowing customers. I consider myself to be a very hard worker who always gives my best and maintains high standard in all situations. I have good sense of humour and can work well in a team environment as well as alone minimal supervision. I can also communicate with other people and can make change correctly and quickly. This would ensure that the customers would be satisfied with services that I offer them. My interpersonal and communication skills enable me to easily establish rapport with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds and age groups. I have excellent listening skills with the ability to be receptive to the ideas and needs of my employer. I deem myself to be an open and honest individual, who is highly reliable and confident with all tasks I undertake. Therefore I believe I would be an asset to this industry because I have many skills to offer and I enjoy working in this industry as I am motivated and strive to help and learn from others. Even though I have no experience working in the fast food industry, I’m willing to work hard and try to succeed to the best of my ability as I’m progressing throughout my career. Resolved Question: Why is it baby boomers dont accept change in business and production?

I run a family business where we provide products to major customers . It is a factory with machines and production lines. The situation we are dealing with at the moment is a financial one and something we must do for the future of the company. All of our competitors are installing robots on machines thus replacing the human operator with the robot. However this does not mean the human no longer has work but is moved to another production area as that is where the work is. So having said that here is my problem........ The robot picks the part up from the machine and places it on a conveyor belt which leads to an assembly line of workers. The issue is all the younger people have and are adjusting to this change and are performing in a team. They anticipate problems that lie ahead as that is what i have trained them to do. Of all the people that work on this line there is one baby boomer. This older generation person refuses to participate in the team environment and when they do they fight over what jobs need to be done and who should do it. When i take the older generation person off the line and leave the younger ones on there the line runs smoothly and without problems. From what i have seen it is not the jobs that is the problem but rather the baby boomer who is resisting change and resisting the team environment. Thus putting a brake on the project at hand. So my question in all this , is how do you try and convince a stubborn baby boomer that this is the future of the company and the direction it has to go. If they dont listen and continue to create problems how can i deal with it. The situation is this baby boomer is a good worker when they work alone. Once you add another person to her , thats when she starts causing problems. It is not possible for the baby boomer to work alone as it has to be done in the team environment to get the part made. An easy way out is to terminate her employment as she has displayed a pattern of behaviour not suitable to the company policies. I however think this is not how to manage people. Just because a person is who they are and is a good worker alone does not meet my standards on grounds to terminate. Its just trying to get across that robotics and a team environment on the production line is a must. Furthermore on discussion with other managers i have found noone wants her working in their section as they dont want to deal with her problems as she has created a reputation for herself for manipulation. Putting someone out of work is always a last resort as i have always thought management of people is the ideal way to fix a situation. What one person does for a certain teeam leader they may not for another. Its the way life is. Younger generations except change baby boomers are not so quick to do so. Also i have employed this persons husband and children (when they are not at school) and find it as a sign of disrespect for her wrongdoings. I put that aside though as i dont get personal in managment of people. In response to ez. Its a business with 150 employees. Yes I have met more than one baby boomer. Logic will tell you in a group of 150 people there would be more than one baby boomer. It goes without saying. If u need further research i suggest you google baby boomers and resisting change. You will see it is a common problem. I was looking for opinions not insults. Yahoo answers is not a tool to insult people its a tool for questions to be asked and answered. more

Resolved Question: How do I properly handle these Jehova's Witnesses that keep coming to my home? How do you go about religion?

A month ago I got a surprise door-bell ring at my house, and I usually don't answer it, unless it's someone I'm expecting, or my housemate decides to get it. In anycase, I opened the door and there was this woman with a girl, and they seemed very well-intentioned, but yet were looking at me like I was the son of Satan. lol. Anyways, they introduced themselves and started going on and I told them that i'm not exactly a novice to religion and am not dark-hearted enough to turn them away. They seemed like nice people and I listened to what they preached. They think we're So near the end times and it's so late, and well, obviously the world has tons of evil in it, and they're doing what they believe they're supposed to do, to get people to turn to God, and not end up being "lost" and fall into the devil's hands, or even if its not that extreme, they don't want others to suffer and lead lives of "sin." So they gave me a bible and some other pamphlets, and I told them that I personally tried dabbling in religion, and do include many of its basic golden rule principles and try to apply it to my life, and I do believe to a degree, but I'm not a fool, and I won't chuck my common sense and realism out the window either, and I also told them that I don't believe that I have to go to their churches or follow specific denominations in order for me to be saved or to have a relationship with God; I told them it was personal between me and God. they seemed to be alright with me and realized that I was "on the right path"but needed help as well. They came back a few more times with different people, and kept giving me new materials, and seemed to after a while get more comfortable with me and considered us to be "family", and what not. My housemate does not like them and my family is largely un-religious, so they wouldn't even bother. However, agree or disagree or even strongly dislike religion, these are people too, human beings, so I treated them as such. I'm NOT going to be mean and nasty and pour my "wrath" over people who are seemingly well intentioned and are giving me bibles. However, I find their showing up at my house every week sometimes twice a week a bit rude and too much, especially when I claim I'd like to take it at my own pace and what not. They claim that's okay to a degree, but "time is running out." Now that I find just to be a bit ridiculous because througout human history there have been people in I'm sure every generation that thought that time is almost running out, and what not, and that we need to act now now now. When times are going tough, people panic more. Our world currently isn't in a great shape and people are panicking. These Jehova's Witnesses definitely seemed to be a bit in that whole "life is tough, life's hard, life's evil, thank GOD for God's Kingtdom coming back soon oh so soon oh so soon," and that's that. they seem more truly terrified and scared of this life/world,...and don't seem to be all that loving....they mean well, but you can clearly see that they're convinced 10 fold of their own beliefs, want others to basically assimilate/conform..and they definitely do not encourage character development, creativity or have vast expertise in a variety of subjects such as mathematics, science, medicine, history , business, etc. They know the bibles inside out and can talk very sharp-tongued and sem to be prepared for spiritual warfare,....but they aren't the most courteous or mentally healthy of folks, in certain ways, and they judge way too much. Everythign that's not perfectly alligned with what they believe in is pretty much Satanic. Now,...after having to personally myself go through a hellish life, as we all do to a degree, meaning life CAN be tough....and I've already put up with other people clamoring how their religion is right, specifically when I was younger, my family had alot of issues with their friends over converting to Islam...and now I get this.... and these religious people seem to be so "NOW" oriented. It does make me very paranoid and scared myself. SO instead of feeling love, or closer to God, I get more scared and think I'm going to go to hell or whatever. I'm NOT denying that there is sin, evil, and good, and I'm not denying them or whatever, but at the same time, i'm entitled to my own life, freedom of mind, and freedom to choose my own life and lead it. If we work hard, and pay for what we own...why should we let other people, even religious people like the Jehova's Witnesses tell us what to do with our time, money and minds? I feel like they're trying to suck me into their world. Also, you can't just trust anyone or think just beacause they hide behind a bible that they're well intentioned. My housemate had one of his family members die because jehova's witnesses were at that hospital or worked there, and denied him a blood transfusion. Others tried to get them to give over ther entire will and life sIt's getting to the point where it's like I can't even concentrate on how to operate machinery, fix up a compjuter or do anything intellectual because these religious folk believe that it's all from satan. They literally just are so VAGUE with their beliefs too. Thteyd have you give up your car, computers, technology, fashionable clothes...hair products, EVERYTHING.. they'd pretty much destroy our society as we know it, and have us all live in these chastised states, and we'd revert back to the "dark ages" if they ahd their way. They believe all this advancement is EVIL and of the devil. now how does someone BEGIN to go about THAT?all in all this is sscaring me. religion, god, satan, this whole new world order stuff...its ALL scary, and i don't know how to go about it anymore. I don't want people telling me...I'm going to go to hell just because I was born, and because I'm the way I am. Resolved Question: Can someone Edit my essay to where it make sense?

So im having trouble making my paragraphs flow good, and im not such a good writer >.<. Thx for ur time. I believe that men and women are equal in today's society, and to think otherwise is just thinking in the past. Of course we could sit here all day and argue how there are still people who judge by just looking at an applicant's name, or gender, but those are the ones who have bias views. It is human nature to be judgmental, no one can argue that. From the very first site at an object or person, one has already judge them and mentally placed them within a category or stereotype from the knowledge that they already know. Nearly everyone have learned of woman's rights and what they did to get to where they are now. Thinking of other genders one would instantly relate them to where they were and where they are now, only time will changes this. Stereotyping is also a big issue in gender, but it is the individual choice to be part of what the media portrays or against it. Today we find that the newer generation have a different view on gender, and that the only way to truly see our newer generation act like the old is with money. which leads to my thesis. The only "traditional" roles women and men still embrace today are those in which someone is willing to pay for. Gender has played a huge role in history, women have became or could be consider the "minority" of the human race, while men rule. Just like the black slaves, they have gain equality through protest. Mary Wollstonecraft in the 1700's, saw how the women were being treated back then. They were uneducated because they were told they would be better off at home, and were dependent on their spouses. Basically their only place was being a house wife. They weren't even able to vote until the 1920s. After fighting for equal rights, women have gain a different view from men, they have become their equals. The "women" of the past are now being looked down upon by the women of today. They are encourage to be individuals and do more than just becoming a housewife. Today women are individual who now have choices that they didn't have back then. They have choices to become anyone they wish to be, now instead of a battle for equal rights, it is a battle against their past. They try harder to not become the "Woman" that everyone expect them not to be. They don't want to be the stereotype of the past but of the future, and the future stereo type for females are those who don't want to be the "woman" of the past. As Simone De Beauvoir claims, "A person is not born a woman but makes herself a woman." Beauvoir believed that women shouldn't subject to the role that has been given to them by the other gender, and by accepting this role they will sub come to the stereotype of a women. This is also a belief that I agree on being part of a race that has elders and who still believe a woman should be the "traditional Women." It is only in America that women here are considers as friends, or as equals to men. Where as in other countries, woman are very traditional. In Japan, most women are driven to have good jobs and be place around very successful males. When they find their definition of a "man," they then marry him and quit their jobs to become house wives. I only relate this to us is because it is not woman who is burden with how they should be. In today's pop culture, men are viewed as two types, the stupid drop out who settle for a mediocre life, or the successful business man, DR, or Lawyer. For how women are portray in today's pop culture they also have two type, the stupid drop out who settle for a mediocre life, or the successful business man, DR, or Lawyer. There isn't any difference because here in America we have learned to be equal and self motivated. The only difference in gender is that females now have a choice if they want to become a "woman," or a person. While we are constantly reminded that men have had this choice since the beginning. Most generalization of gender comes from an individual, and sadly most individual believe that men and women in today society are unequal. Every individual have a choice of how they want to turn out. They can be pulled in by the media and become mindless followers, or they can become a person who thinks for themselves and live up to their own standard. It is true that most men have not changed very much from what they expect from women, but all those men's are from older generations. Today's generations many men would prefer a strong wielded, independent women that knows where she is going in life. Most movies women are portrayed as victimized and stars in degrading videos but that's only because they put themselves in that position. Movies often like to go into the past and give women roles of how things use to be, that's why we all have views of traditional women because we always reminded of the past. Movies are there for people to judge, only those who comes out thinking that, "th more

Resolved Question: is this another good story about the messiah obama?

My mother came to America from Germany right after World War I and saw all of this happening as a young girl. She told her seven children exactly what you are about to read. -- Lil HYMN TO HITLER Posted by: Lori Kalner on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 In Germany, when Hitler came to power it was a time of terrible financial depression. Money was worth nothing. In Germany, people lost homes and jobs, just like in the American Depression in the 1930s, which we have read about in Thoene's Shiloh books. In those days, in my homeland, Adolph Hitler was elected to power by promising 'Change'. He blamed the 'Zionists' around the world for all our problems. He told everyone it was greedy Zionist Bankers who had caused every problem we had. He promised when he was leader, the greedy Zionist bankers would be punished. The Zionists, he promised, would be wiped off the face of the earth. So Hitler was elected to power by only 1/3 the popular vote. A coalition of other political parties in parliament made him supreme leader. Then, when he was leader, he disgraced and expelled everyone in parliament who did not go along with him. Yes. Change came to my homeland as the new leader promised it would. The teachers in German schools began to teach the children to sing songs in praise of Hitler. This was the beginning of the Hitler Youth movement. It began with praise of the Fuhrer's programs on the lips of innocent children. Hymns in praise of Hitler and his programs were being sung in the schoolrooms and in the playyards. Little girls and boys joined hands and sang these songs as they walked home from school. My brother came home and told Papa what was happening at school. The political hymns of children proclaimed Change was coming to our homeland, and the Fuhrer was a leader we could trust. I will never forget my father's face. Grief and fear. He knew that the best propaganda of the Nazis was being sung on the lips of little children. Soon the children's songs praising the Fuhrer were heard everywhere on the streets and over the radio. "With our Fuhrer to lead us, we can do it! We can change the world!" Soon after that, Papa, a pastor, was turned away from visiting elderly parishioners in hospitals. The people he had come to bring comfort of God's Word, were 'no longer there'. Where had they vanished to while under the nationalized health care system? It became an open secret. The elderly and the sick began to disappear from hospitals feet first, as 'mercy killing' became the policy. Children with disabilities and those who had Down syndrome were euthanized. People whispered, "Maybe it is better for them now. Put them out of misery. They are no longer suffering. And, of course, their death is better for the treasury of our nation. Our taxes no longer must be spent to care for such a burden." And so murder came to be called 'mercy'. The government took over private business. Industry and health care were 'nationalized'. (NAZI means National Socialist Party) The businesses of all 'Zionists' (Jews) were seized. (Perhaps you remember about what happened in Berlin on 'Krystalnacht'.) The world and God's word were turned upside down. Hitler promised the people economic Change? Not change. What began with the propaganda of children singing a catchy tune, ended in the deaths of millions of men, women and children. The reality of what came upon us is so horrible that you in this present generation cannot imagine it. Our suffering was too great to ever tell in a book or show in a black and white newsreel. I trembled last night when I heard the voices of American children raised in song, praising the name of Obama, the charismatic fellow who claims he is the American Messiah. Yet I have heard what this man Obama says about abortion and the 'mercy killing' of tiny babies who are not wanted. There are so few of us left to warn you. I have heard that there are 69 million Catholics in America and 70 million Evangelical Christians. Where are your voices? Where is your outrage? Where is your passion and your vote? Do you vote based on an abortionist's empty promises and economics? Or do you vote according to the Bible? I have experienced the politics of Death in my youth. I see them again now. Christians, unless you stand up now, you will lose your freedom of religion. In America, priests and preachers have already lost their freedom to speak openly from their pulpits of the moral dangers in political candidates. They cannot legally instruct you on which candidate holds fast to the precepts of scripture! American law forbids this freedom of speech to conservative pastors, or they will lose their 'tax exempt' status. And yet I have heard the words of Obama's own pastor Damning America! I have heard the words of Obama damning and mocking all of you in small towns, because you "Cling to your religion." But, I am an old woman and will soon go to be with my Lord. I have no fear for myself, but for aall of you and for your children, I tremble. I tremble at the hymns to a political leaders which your children will sing at school, even though, at that same school a hymn or a prayer to God and to our Lord Jesus is against the law... more

Resolved Question: Why do most democrats believe the fallacious propaganda that Republicans are the rich?

Democrats are the rich, they have much more money and make more money than Republicans on average. It's a fact. Those who talk about rich republicans are regurgitating stereo types that have actually been manufactured by the wealthy billionaire democrat supporters who own almost all media and all of the entertainment industry and use it to brainwash people. Historical Republican policy is good for economic growth, but that isn't good for the ultra rich, almost all of whom are democrats. The ultra rich have much more control when the masses are poor and dependent on the government. The billionaires don't pay much in taxes anyway. Those behind the democrats power wise don't even have to pay. Note that most of Obama's picks for cabinet had tax problems? But no trouble with the IRS over it like we would have? Get a clue from reality. The poor suffer most under democrats, and when Obama is done the poor will have almost zero opportunity in the US, unless they join the Obama mob and do his dirty work. Much like Hitlers special troops did for him in his socialist take over of the country. Look at the black community, as republicans lead by the Republican MLK they had crime rates on par with national averages and single motherhood on par with national averages as well. After MLK was murdered, probably by those who wanted to get paid off by democrats for controlling a voting block like Jessie Jackson does, the black community went strait to hell. Less education and more crime, and opportunities that were presenting were destroyed by counter culture, brain washing the people into hating and resenting in stead of working, and they became a prime voting block of the democrats. Just enough money to keep from starving and initiative destroyed. Generations ruined and gone into corruption and dependence. With only a small % getting out, and those were ridiculed if they did it legitimately through education and or hard work. They were seen and ostracized as traitors to their race and community, in media and entertainment industry which was controlled by wealthy democrats because they know those groups tend to migrate toward the republican party and more important than anything to them was the voting block. Yep elections have consequences, just ask the Germans. I hope we will never know the full meaning of that, but it's looking more and more like we will. Exxon Oil, Rockefeller, Democrat, family still runs it, democrats. Big Banking, Rothschild's, since colonial times in England, Democrat supporters and huge liberals. Who are the richest in congress? Democrats Who run most fortune 500 companies? democrats Who run most of the Hedge Funds? Democrats Who are almost all old money? Democrats Mob Money like Kennedy's? Democrats George Soros, Criminal mastermind, created moveon.org, huge in the criminal Organization ... Democrat Some of the biggest thieves in the banking trouble, huge into Acorn, Sandlers. Able to get a skit lampooning their crimes tossed off of Saturday Night Live ... you think any Republican could do that? And most of the ultra poor who democrats use and try to keep down because they make good voting blocks? Democrats There is much much more Source(s): Most non Union workers and neat 40% of Union workers, Republicans. Most small business owners, republicans. This was until the huge surge in democrats, who are pretty soon going to regret it, in fact they are more and more identifying as independent.Rockefeller, Democrat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_RockefellerKeith, what you call "common knowledge" is only very successful propaganda. Most of the very richest people in the country support democrats. Most of the very poorest in the country support democrats. It's nothing but a statistical fact. I guess you can't let that stand in the way of "common knowledge". You must be more invested in a side than in reality. If so, why waste your time? Just to support the side? What if it's the wrong side for the good of your country? You know people get stuck in the wrong side over blind loyalty all the time, and it's a bad thing to do. It harms all you care about.Seldon? You don't care about references lol. I'm going to take time to back something up to some KoolAid Drinker who doesn't care about facts anyway? Probably not, they are there if you want to really look, but you really don't, it's obvious.Triviadude ... How to break it down? Blue areas are richer. Most Billionaires are democrats. Maybe in the middle there you have something and of the very richest who support democrats there are not that many votes. Maybe most voters who are seen as well off are republicans, I don't know those statistics. I only know that democrats have more money and more income on AVERAGE. There are a lot of poor democrat voters. Almost all of the media and about all of the entertainment industry is controlled by democrats, that is a fact. Most fortune 500 CEOs are democrats and almost all the rich stock market and trading people in New York are democrats, almost every hedge fund is run by a democrat. Everything I've said is researched out and true however, but some details I could have missed. The democrats do much better for the ultra rich though. High taxes for the semi rich don't really affect them as they find a way around & have friends in high places. It's hard to nail them with anything.Seldon? You don't care about references lol. I'm going to take time to back something up to some KoolAid Drinker who doesn't care about facts anyway? Probably not, they are there if you want to really look, but you really don't, it's obvious. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of Obama when he said....?

Today Obama addressed workers at plants and dealerships who will lose their jobs as part of the restructuring, warning that "more jobs would be lost," and adding they were "making a sacrifice for the next generation." IN OBAMA'S OWN WORDS: "It's a sacrifice you may not have chose to make, but a sacrifice you are nevertheless called to make so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an America that still makes things, that still builds cars, that still strives for a better future,". FULL STORY: http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/Stock%20News/2354016/ Ok..... Got some question here..... 1. I have no kids. All I have is me. (so I guess I have no future) Ok, Now what? 2. If have to give up everything I have/own to take care of the next person because I can no long take care of myself since the government will take everything I have/had away from me to give to that person, who will take care of me then when I have nothing left to give anymore? 3. I own and operated my own business for over 20 years. And like a lot of people, we've been hit hard during this economic mess. I have taken several personal pay cuts myself and made personal sacrifices in order to keep all my employees working, so that I don't have to get rid of any of them, and they can keep supporting their families. I care about each and every one of them. If the government takes even more away from me & my business, then what's going to happen to my workers & their families??? the biggest question of all.... 4. What has Obama sacrificed lately??? That NY trip must have been fun. I'd like to do that. Seems to me he's doing alright for himself & his family. Why don't he be big man and lead by example??? NOTE: one more thing.... Since people want to assume (That as*-u-me for people who do that) that they know me, when that they don't anything about me. And that some people get mad, when you ask some really tough question, I will say this, that I am very well educated (I have 3 degrees) and I continue to educate myself everyday. I use a wonderful place called the local library (as well as the internet). Some people should give it a try, they may actually learn something. more

Resolved Question: Can u help me with this text?..thank u!?

good morning everybody, i've write this text 4 an english text, can u tell me if it is correct? If there are some grammar mistakes? thank u !..this is the text..( About the prologue of Romeo and Juliet) The play Romeo and Juliet begins with a prologue which explain to the reader the story, and sketch the situation of violent and blood, caused by civil war, in Verona’s street. This hard situation is caused , in is turn, to the hate of 2 families linked by an ancient groudge that spark off war from some century and now “breack scene to new munity”. The real reason of this hate is lost in the past, so this war is only a pretext to justify the (hold -presa-) of power. Obviousely they assert to fight to dignity, but, in Verona, dignity, is -just- only a masck which hide thirst of strenght and power . The 2Families , in this context, aren’t coerent with theyr task, infact the should protect civilies, beacause if you are a point of reference you should be coerent with your social role , instead they didn’t do it, they do the contrary and because of this , theyr responsability is even greater. This concept is well expressed by the metonimia “civil blood makes civil hands unclear”, this metonimie work with images and sounds and trought this Shakespeare conveys us the reality of civil war caused by “dignity” of 2 households. With this one we moreover understand te political concept of Shakespeare, he uses Romeo and Juliet’s story to blame his contemporare society, and besides he is able to convey a political idea through the story of a person, he thinks that the period in which Mountague and Capulet lives (his epoch) is a period caratterized by a situation of violence and innatural actions. In this contest in which older generation is moved only by a thirst of power and by theyr own business, is necessary to restore a balance; and this is a Romeo and Juliet’s duty, that will do it by the truth of theyr feeling. 2 lovers have to wash away the mistakes of theyr families, they have no way out, and they have success; infact with theyr love and paradoxically with they death, that make a chatarsis work, make an end to the hate and to the war between they families, so we shoud say, they make a mend [to?] the ancient leak. In all Shakespeare’s plays we can found a typical element, a tipical “topos”: the reverse of values. Romeo and Juliet love infact, that should be sweet and natural is instead innatural and fatal, that will lead them to deth. All is reverse; war and violent are daily actions, that take place in the daylight, instead love and passion are dangerous and have happen in the night that protect 2lovers and hide them to the maliciuos days! This reversion is well expressed in the balcony scene. In this scene Romeo and Juliet excange each other theyr love, and obviousely all happen during the night. The scene begins with Romeo’s monologues in which him expresses all his love for his Juliet, he don’t know that the girl is on the balcony. He riverse him-self to Juliet by a lenguace of courly love through an allegoric lenguage that derives by classic tradition. This scene underlines the different personality of 2 characters; Romeo infact is more sweet, passionate, and dreamer ! But Juliet sin’t, she infact is more concreet and mature at the contrary of her lover.can you be a little bit precise? it is 4 tomorrow, and i'm italian, thank u! more

Resolved Question: Is natural selection proven wrong-What you think?

Is natural selection proven wrong-What do you think it is claimed NS is wrong for 4 reasons http://gamahucherpress.yellowgum.com/books/philosophy/Natural_selection.pdf There are four points which show natural selection [NS]is invalid or wrong 1)the cambrian explosion as darwin saw invalidates his theory. http://www.genesispark.com/genpark/explo/explo.htm “No real progress has been made by evolutionists since Darwin’s day and "The Cambrian evolutionary explosion is still shrouded in mystery." (Eldredge, N., The Monkey Business, 1982, p. 46.)” 2)NS is invalidated by the fact of speciation as NS only deals with traits already present and cant deal with the generation of new species genetics might be able to account for the generation of new species [ see below where it is shown genetics cannot account for the generation of new species] but NS cant as the generation of new species it not part of its remit 3) NS deals with the transmission of favorable traits and the eradication of unfavorable traits so the fact that unfavorable traits ie the gene for breast cancer are and can be transmitted and become common invalidates NS out right Some argue that harmful genes can be transmitted and become common when accompanied by good genes but this makes natural selection wrong ie ”natural selection, a process that causes helpful traits (those that increase the chance of survival and reproduction) to become more common in a population and causes harmful traits to become more rare”(Ref: Futuyma, Douglas Evolution 2005” seeing bad genes can become common this thus makes natural selection wrong which says bad genes should be come rare or less common 4) genetics cannot account for the generation of new species-ie the cambrian explosion take point 3 NS is ”natural selection, a process that causes helpful traits (those that increase the chance of survival and reproduction) to become more common in a population and causes harmful traits to become more rare”(Ref: Futuyma, Douglas Evolution 2005” note it say harmful traits will become rare but we have the fact of breast cancer where harmfull genes are common thus this makes NS wrong - as the harmful genes should be rare not common note in the quotes below such words as common very common when refering to breast cancer genes note breast cancer kills child bearing age women and note it says "Hereditary breast cancers tend to occur earlier in life" quotes MORE EVIDENCE these genes are harmful as they can lead to the death of the person –even child bearing women http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=5689 “But it is possible to be born with a gene fault that may cause cancer. This doesn't mean you will definitely get cancer. But it means that you are more likely to develop cancer than the average person” “The first breast cancer gene faults to be found were BRCA1 and BRCA2. These faults don't mean you have cancer, or you definitely will get cancer but women with these genes have a 50 to 80% chance of getting breast cancer in their lifetime. We now know of other genes that significantly increase a woman's risk of breast cancer. They are called TP53 and PTEN. Genetic tests are available to women with a high risk of having changes in their BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53 or PTEN genes. “Researchers have found other common genes that can slightly increase a woman's risk of developing breast cancer. These are called CASP8, FGFR2, TNRCP, MAP3K1 and LSP1. No tests are available to find these genes yet.” “Rare genes that can also increase breast cancer risk slightly include CHEK2, ATM (ataxia telangiectasia mutated), BRIP1 and PALB2. No tests are available for these genes yet” “With particular groups of women, there are very common specific gene faults. Ashkenazi Jewish women tend to have one of 3 very particular gene mutations” http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition=breastcancer “Hereditary cancers are those associated with inherited gene mutations. Hereditary breast cancers tend to occur earlier in life than noninherited (sporadic) cases and are more likely to involve both breasts” “BRCA1 and BRCA2 are major genes related to hereditary breast cancer. Women who have inherited certain mutations in these genes have a high risk of developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and several other types of cancer during their lifetimes” “Additionally, BRCA1 mutations are associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer. Mutations in the BRCA2 gene are associated with an increased chance of developing male breast cancer and cancers of the prostate and pancreas. An aggressive form of skin cancer called melanoma is also more common among people who have BRCA2 mutations.” “Inherited changes in several other genes, including CDH1, PTEN, STK11, and TP53, have been found to increase the risk of developing breast cancer” “Some research suggests that inherited variants of the ATM, BARD1, BRIP1, CHEK2, NBN, more

Resolved Question: why are korean people obsessed about going to church?

I am a 20 year old Korean male who's lived in states for 10 years. I've witnessed that Korean people in both korea and the US are obsessed about church. Your friends all go to church, your parent's friends go to church, and you meet your boyfriends/girlfriends through church and church is like the only social networking tool that exists among Korean society and if you are not in this loop, you are usually isolated. How has this social phenomeonon come about? From different readings here's my opinion but I would love to hear the opinions of others. After the Korean War, South Korea was left to the mercy of the US economically, politically, etc. Before the war, SK was a mix of buddhism, yugyo, .. but never christianity. Kim Gu, the leading political leader who was loved by many, who was presumed to lead Korea after its liberation, wanted the nation to follow traditional Korean religions but then US instead appointed Lee Soong Man, a christian korean-american instead as 1st president. During this reborn process of SK's identity, Koreans accepted Christianity as the religion of the westerners. Basically the US forced it down our throats but we gladly accepted it as well. And since the bible used hangul while buddhism/yugyos that used kanji-mixed extremely difficult writings, it was more colloquial and favorable to the masses. And when major politicians and the rich converted to Christianity and turned the nation's schools, hopsitals into Christianity-based and made other social transformations to accomodate the religion, people naturally followed while other religions failed to keep up. And Korean people's nature fits perfectly with church as well. Korean people can now use church as an excuse to get together, invade each other's business and basically form a group. Although Asian people are usually distance with others except for their familly members, Korean people are unique in that they value Jung - caring deeply about those who are close to them. Thus, while maintaining fairly distant relationships with others, church people can use church as an excuse to form tight brotherhoods, in perfect accordance with their nature. Korean people also live a competitive, a relatively selfish way of thinking. They pray "please let my son go into good college, the best college ever .. maybe better than the one my neighbor's son went to " or "please let my son get a good job as a doctor" ... the Christian God is the perfect solution to praying about all these selfish wants ... replacing the previous superstitious beliefs such as throwing salt and rice everywhere to bring good luck. My problem is with the younger Korean generations. They go to church simply because their parents force them to go at a young age. Religion has to be a personal choice, not some kind of "since I do it, my daughter/son has to do it too" more

Voting Question: Will you review my essay please?

This is for a community college Into Business class. Assignment: Write a discussion paper giving your opinion of how the current economic situation is affecting businesses here in the United States. Also, discuss how you see yourself being affected by the current economic situation. 1 - 2 pages long, double spaced. I know the last paragraph and conclusion are a little weak, any ideas on beefing it up? My Paper (rough draft): The current economic conditions has placed a blanket of fear on the nation. Many people fear the downed financial markets and the number of job losses will lead to another depression. Even though the unemployment rates are rising and the crises in the stock market will make for a difficult year it is still no where near what occurred in the 1930's. This fear of a recession is what aided the current recession. People are afraid of losing their jobs so they begin saving their money, when they decreased their spending it only increased the needed layoff by companies. We caused the recession but we can also fix it. Large business corporations, "big box stores", have always had the advantage over smaller, individually owned businesses. With their outside investors they have a greater number of resources to fall back on when needed. Large businesses single goal is to create a profit, often at the unintentional expense of the economy. Sending jobs overseas the cost of labor is cheaper and there is a greater perceived profit. When jobs are taken from our country it lowers the amount of available jobs, extending the amount of unemployed people. The people are now unable to purchase these corporation's goods leaving the companies with a loss. These losses are what made the need for the government bail-outs in September 2008 so they could continue making their products. The government has to get the money from some where though, mostly from tax payers again leaving people unable or unwilling to do any spending leaving us in a continual cycle. The small business owner without a wealthy investor to finance their business pursuits depend on bank loans to start up. When the mortgage crisis occurred the banks were more selective to whom they would give loans, leaving the small business owners without many options. Small businesses that are already running are having a harder time making a profit. Society is spending less and the small businesses are having trouble staying afloat and many do not make it. Given that in a normal economy only 80% of small businesses succeed past their first year it is even harder in these trying economical times. I am lucky enough to still be a high school student living with my parents. This leaves me with very few financial responsibilities. I am aware that this economy may not change by the time I get out of school, and I want to be as prepared for it as possible. This education will be a very important role in my future. If I want to succeed in the business world, I need to have a solid college education to be capable to cope with anything the economy throws at me. Overall the current economic standing for businesses is not favorable. This is why education is such an important step in life. If the next generations are educated they will be ready to step up and help change the economy for the better. Thank you for any *constructive* critism. more

Resolved Question: Please read if you have the time! This was my essay for a teacher!?

Many years ago there was a mountain called Alcampo in the midst of the Shari forest. No one was very sure of its location but there was always a suspicion of where it could be found. Only the Natives knew the way, but they had been outnumbered by soldiers and since then the modern people only heard stories of it that had been passed down from their ancestors. The mountain stood there alone recalling the memories that he had when the Natives were around, He longed to see someone come by but all was gone in the Shari forest. Its people, the animals and the colour and life had been drained. Generations and generations had passed, the mountain still looking as strong as ever but becoming more and more impatient as it had waited years to be accompanied. He saw a sign of promise and felt it too, that he was going to have a friend. That promise seemed as though it was going to happen in a light year, for Alcampo waited and waited long enough but impatiently. Alcampo had eventually given birth to a long stretch of sea which was the most unique one to be seen. Now the forest was filled with glee, for the stories the sea had to tell were most interesting. Visitors like the birds had come to listen and told these stories in their songs. The harmony accompanied by the melody which the birds sang made the forest and nearby places dance with joy. The once lifeless forest was now so lively that people had gotten close to tracking down the location of the mountain because they thought voices could be heard in the distance. The only voice that they heard was the wind, not mourning but cheerfully sharing the tales. The deep barren trenches that had seemed to lead to nowhere, was now a river forcing out all the water from the bowels of its source. Just standing on the bank it looked like it was rushing to meet its prey before it had time to escape. Other persons said that the water was as clear as crystal that you could see all the living and those that were underneath its glassy surface. The people had considered it to be the most dangerous river and ordered that it should not be used for recreational nor transportation purposes. The river was going about its business until it was disturbed by two mischievous boys. They had run away from their village looking for great adventure which seemed to be great danger instead. They carved a boat out of a fallen tree trunk. They used the river as transportation to lead them away from their people regardless of the dangers which lay ahead. The water became fierce halfway through their journey and the boat had now been filled with water. They were going under but their efforts to survive proved futile. They had been swallowed up like Jonah and the whale. The river had nothing to do with the lives lost. The villagers came by in search of the boys so the river to give them hope washed upon its bank the two lifeless bodies. The whole village was filled with grief and the river reminds many of the tragedy which took place. Archaeologists followed their way to the mouth of the river and it led them to the sea; a sea with a mountain behind. Now the secret of the mountain was revealed. The sea was safe but not its rivers and they used it for tourism and as a means of getting to the Alcampo. The originality and history stored behind the mountain was all gone after its discovery but pride was what was left. Generations and generations had more tales to tell. One of these was the tragedy of the two boys. When this story is told to children it teaches them a lesson not to play with mother nature for she will fight back and give you what she thinks you deserve. Thank you I'm 12 and I would like your opinions. I had to do it over..........oh well i gotta try again another 500 or so words to write again and i do have paragraphs. more

Resolved Question: With the cost of tuition skyrocketing is it worth going to college?

Just for reference this question is coming from somebody with a BSE, a MSE, will have another MSE at the end of next April and will be attending Med School for his MD. However, after talking to many undergraduate students and hearing that the in-state tuition cost at a public University (University of Michigan) is at $8500/semester (not including housing, books, etc...) I was stunned. This is about double what I was paying when I started school back in 2000. With the economy in the shape it is in, and many parents unable to help their children as much as before, how can the Universities justify continuously raising the rates of tuition? I understand state funding has dropped a percent or two over the decade but does that justify a near doubling of tuition? How about not building 2 new billion dollar biomedical complexes in order to keep tuition at an affordable rate? Seems like every time I turn around a new parking lot for administration and professors are popping up. But let the poor student pay the bill? I mean, this is a PUBLIC University, not a private one. I look at public schools like UCLA which keep IN STATE tuition at an affordable rate but here at Michigan we get a nearly $25,000/year bill to be an undergrad along with our 20% unemployment rate. Obviously for degrees like Engineering, teaching, business and degrees leading to Law, graduate, and Medical degrees are worth it. But if you are going to get a degree in English to be "educated" but have to take out $50 to $70K of debt is it worth it in the end if you end up making as much as you would have just out of High School as a server or in retail? Maybe you make a couple thousand more a year but you have the joy of paying back those loans? Seems like the Universities have been able to successfully plant my generation with the idea that "you NEED a college degree" at all costs. I'm just waiting for 20 years from now to see the backlash of all the students who went through the rigorous amount of work put in for a degree that doesn't pay back the loans needed to obtain it. I'm getting to the point of telling my neighbors back at my parents neighborhood not to send their children to college unless they know they are going into a particular field because it simply isn't worth it. Yes, education is great but at some point money is a factor. And if you can't afford to pay for your child's education due to the tough times, they are better off not taking Uncle Sam's loans to get a degree that they can't use after it is all said and done. I really feel some people are just not built for schooling required for the practical degrees (by practical I mean in today's world with rising tuition/loans and a degree to allow you to pay them back). They are better off just not enduring the debt and just working right out of high school. So much for America educating its' children. Looks more like a scam to me as Universities are ultimately a business and they have done a wonderful job of marketing their message since we were in elementary school. Any opinions?Typical college freshman. Something is long, don't bother reading. And of course you can't put a "price tag" on experience, however may I propose a question? Is mom/dad paying your bill or are you? It's easy to write off the cost when it isn't coming out of your pocket. more

Resolved Question: Can you review my essay for a scholarship?

The topic was "masonic symbolism" and they gave no direction where to begin. so basically you're on your own. i knew nothign about freemasonry prior, and i dont consider myself a writer in any sesnse, but i kidna want to win this...please review? i feel like i may have wnet a little off topic and messed up on word tesne, but w.e One Could Only Hope Few men lack the courage to face themselves and ask the question, “What have I done to pursue lifelong liberty, happiness, justice, and above all show utmost respect to God and to fellow man?” What virtue have men bestowed into others by modeling a life so credible to call themselves a man? This, I believe, is the duty of life; to gain knowledge and understanding in respecting life. These values are the central beliefs of a Freemason, which represent themselves by not only their actions, but by expressive symbols. Masonic symbols can be a reference in developing ones character. As George Washington stated, “Freemasonry is kindness in the home; honesty in business; courtesy toward others; dependability in one's work; compassion for the unfortunate; resistance to evil; help for the weak; concern for good government; support for public education…” These are the core values in life. When fixated on the emblems of masonry, man begins to speculate these true meanings, but this meaning lies within oneself. There are endless connotations to these symbols and each individual man interprets them as it speaks to him. No one man is correct, and no one man is wrong, as to say, ‘to each his own’. The name “masonry” in itself may be considered a symbol. Masonry is commonly known as the trade of bricklaying. But the underlying message of the title masonry is a way to set the building blocks of life. Within this society, man is given the material to construct his values and to discover his moral fibre. When you think of bricks, or a brick house, what comes to mind is the sturdy infrastructure and its dependability. If a brick is out of place, it could result to a crumbling edifice. As in life, if one moral is out of line, it can lead to the decline of man. These symbols used by freemasons are not just lessons, but also are reminders for our ethics, ideals and to celebrate our mores. For example, the unity box and gavel which was passed around to all of Pennsylvania’s lodges represents connectivity. The gavel will be passed around to each blue district. In doing this, the freemasons are symbolizing equality since all members will be able to pass it around and share this piece of history. As well as symbolizing equality, this gavel will ultimately connect all of the brothers representing alliance, kinship and association. The physical meaning symbolically represents the necessity to, “protect our heritage as Masons and Americans for those generations yet to be.” The Masonic symbols represent the heart of man, the courage to succeed, and the determination to be the best one can hope to be. One could only hope that these lessons reach out to as many others as possible. When George Washington took the fateful oath of office as out nation’s first leader, he wore his freemason’s uniform. A uniform that not only symbolized the importance of self-improvement, but also for improvement of community and beliefs. For being responsible and respectable. On that day he was living up to his creed of the Freemason. Not only has George Washington been moved by the values of masonry, but also is a symbol himself. To some George Washington is one of the most respected presidents for his impact on American government, but for his outstanding contribution to freemason beliefs. One man states that George represents, “the character and virtues of a man who best exemplifies what Freemasons are and ought to be.” In the new ages to come, where darkness has already shown its gripping horrors that men should rise up in the dim light of hope to embrace the ideals of freemasonry through its symbolic interpretations. more

Resolved Question: Are you happy with the stimulus?

Here are some interesting details on the "stimulus" package. If you would not mind forwarding this along to your friends, family, and contacts, it would be greatly appreciated. The more info Americans have on this bill, the only thing stimulated will be anger and outrage, because none of this stimulates the economy or creates Jobs. * The interest payments alone on the stimulus would cost $350 billion over the next ten years, which means the next generation will have to pay the bills. * The bill contains nothing in it that would stimulate the economy, but its only a down-payment on big government spending. In reality, it's a welfare proposal. Wasteful Spending Provisions * $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Dept. of Energy defunded last year because the project was inefficient * $650 million for the digital television (DTV) converter box coupon program * $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship) * $448 million for constructing the Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters * $248 million for furniture at the new Dept. of Homeland Security headquarters * $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees * $400 million for the CDC to screen and prevent STD's * $1.4 billion for a rural waste disposal programs * $125 million for the Washington , D.C. sewer system * $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities * $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion * $75 million for "smoking cessation activities" * $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges * $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI * $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction * $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River * $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas * $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings * $500 million for state and local fire stations * $650 million for wildland fire management on Forest Service lands * $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs * $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service * $412 million for CDC buildings and property * $500 million for building and repairing NIH facilities in Bethesda, MD * $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service * $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the VA " National Cemetery Administration" * $60 million for Arlington National Cemetery * $850 million for Amtrak * $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint * $75M to construct a new "security training" facility for State Dept Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. * $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems * $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations. * $275 million for "watershed and flood prevention operations" * Eliminates fees on loans from the Small Business Administration, thus pushing private capital toward unproductive businesses and away from productive businesses. * Increases the definition of "youth" for certain summer job programs from age 21 to age 24. * $160 million to the Job Corps program at the Dept. of Labor, but not for job programs - rather, to construct, alter or repair buildings. * Requires a government study on the impact of minimum wage laws on the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa . * A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. * $79 billion State Fiscal Stabilization (slush) Fund to bailout the States by providing billions of dollars for "education" costs of any kind. * $47.843 billion is appropriated for a variety of energy programs that are primarily focused on renewable energy development and energy conservation/efficiency. Not one dollar is appropriated to make fossil fuels more affordable in the near future. More than $6 billion of these funds go to environmental clean ups. * Increases eligibility for "weatherization" assistance to households 200 percent above the poverty level. * The "Making Work Pay" credit of $500 to every individual making less than $75,000 (or $1000 to couples making $150,000 or less) would pay people whether they are productive or not - akin to welfare. * The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP- food stamps) would temporarily suspend the 3-month limit for non-working adults to receive SNAP benefits, thus giving incentives not to find a job. * Installs government as the creator of broadband deployment regardless of whether the speci more

Resolved Question: Can anyone put this into an outline for me?? 10 points!!?

Ida Tarbell helped transform journalism by introducing what is called today investigative journalism. Through her achievements she not only helped to expand the role of the newspaper in modern society and stimulate the Progressive reform movement, but she also became a role model for women wishing to become professional journalists.Born on the oil frontier of western Pennsylvania in 1857, Tarbell was among the first women to graduate from Allegheny College in 1880. After trying her hand at the more traditional women's job of teaching, Tarbell began writing and editing a magazine for the Methodist Church. Then, after studying in France for a few years, she joined S. S. McClure's new reform-minded magazine in 1894. Initially she wrote two popular biographical series--on Napoleon and Abraham Lincoln. In 1902, she embarked on her ground breaking study of John D. Rockefellers Standard Oil Company, or what was called the Standard Oil Trust. Her History of the Standard Oil Company, published in 1904, was a landmark work of expos journalism that became known as "muckraking." Her exposure of Rockefeller's unfair business methods outraged the public and led the government to prosecute the company for violations of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. As a result, after years of precedent-setting litigation, the Supreme Court upheld the break-up of Standard Oil.As the most famous woman journalist of her time, Tarbell founded the American Magazine in 1906. She authored biographies of several important businessmen and wrote a series of articles about an extremely controversial issue of her day, the tariff imposed on goods imported from foreign countries. Of this series President Woodrow Wilson commented, She has written more good sense, good plain common sense, about the tariff than any man I know of.During World War I she joined the efforts to improve the plight of working women. In 1922, The New York Times named her one of the "Twelve Greatest American Women." It was journalism like hers that inspired Americans of the early twentieth century to seek reform in our government, in our economic structures, and in our urban areas. Along with other muckrakers like Lincoln Steffens, Ray Stannard Baker, and Upton Sinclair, Tarbell ushered in reform journalism. Ever since, newspapers have played a leading role as the watchdogs and consciences of our political, economic, and social lives.Although Tarbell was not, herself an advocate of womens issues or womens rights, as the most prominent woman active in the muckraking movement and one of the most respected business historians of her generation, Tarbell succeeded in a "male" world the world of journalism, business analysis, and world affairs, thus helping to open the door to other women seeking careers in journalism and, later, in broadcasting.By the early 1900s, John D. Rockefeller Sr. had finished building his oil empire. For over 30 years, he had applied his uncanny shrewdness, thorough intelligence, and patient vision to the creation of an industrial organization without parallel in the world. The new century found him facing his most formidable rival ever--not another businessman, but a 45-year-old woman determined to prove that Standard Oil had never played fair. The result, Ida Tarbell’s magazine series "The History of the Standard Oil Company," would not only change the history of journalism, but also the fate of Rockefeller’s empire, shaken by the powerful pen of its most implacable observer.Born in a log home in Hatch Hollow, northwestern Pennsylvania, on November 5, 1857, Ida Minerva Tarbell grew up amid the derricks of the Oil Region. Her father, Frank Tarbell, built wooden oil storage tanks and later became an oil producer and refiner. "Things were going well in father’s business," she would write years later. "There was ease such as we had never known; luxuries we had never heard of… Then suddenly [our] gay, prosperous town received a blow between the eyes." The 1872 South Improvement scheme, a hidden agreement between the railroads and refiners led by John D. Rockefeller, hit the Pennsylvania Oil Region like a tidal wave. It hit the Tarbells too, leaving behind painful memories that would be rekindled thirty years later. "Out of the alarm and bitterness and confusion, I gathered from my father’s talk a conviction to which I still hold -- that what had been undertaken was wrong."After graduating from Allegheny College, the sole woman in the class of 1880, Tarbell moved to Ohio to teach science, but resigned after two years. She would find her true calling just months later back in Pennsylvania, when she met the editor of a small magazine, "The Chautauquan," published in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Tarbell’s inquisitive mind and her determination to have a career pushed her to become intensely invested in her writing and research projects. At 34, fascinated by the story of Madame Roland, the leader of an influential salon during the French Revolution, she moved to Pari more

Resolved Question: Rate: how my transcript is shaping up.. also some other things...?

Hey guys! I'm just a junior in high school in new york city, but I'm looking at universities already. So lets cut to the chase. I want to go into Business as well as Journalism My cumulative, weighted average is currently at a 90.3. My grades keep going up every single year. I just got my report card that covers 1st/2nd quarter and mid term grades. Best I've ever done at the half way mark. I'm a minority, first generation hispanic student. I'm in the honors classes. One of which includes Latin 3. Next year as a senior I'll be taking AP english. I'm ranked in the top 10% of the graduating class. But I'm holding on to that honor by a thread. I'm ranked 17th, and if I dropped to 18th, that puts me top 11% xD. hopefully I can hold onto that until it's time to apply to university. SATS? Not so great. But I've only taken it once.. got a 1510. Extra curriculars.. I've done some pretty sweet stuff. - Wrote for school newspaper in all 3 years, and I'm editor in chief now as a junior - This is my first year in mock trial, and I am playing the lead witness for the defense, next year I'll be a lawyer (it's reserved for seniors >_<) - Currently I am attending a highly selective inner city job program.. where I do training for interviews/resumes/etc. Hopefully I do land a job, that'll help my transcript a lot. Though being in this program is quite the honor. - Probably the thing that stands out most... I attended an 8 day youth leadership conference in Rochester University before this junior year. It's highly competitive. Rochester also gives all students I think a 1000 dollar scholarship automatically, so I can say "hey, look what I got from a major university :]." National Hispanic is also associated with over a hundred major universities such as NYU, Boston, Duke, etc. A major connection. - Over the summer before senior year I'll also be attending another National Hispanic program, called the Collegiate World Series. This is NYU, and again NYU sponsors some of the money. Here I'll be doing interviews and working on skills with real admission reps from major universities. As well as competing with other students. This can be a good chance to make some connections, and also the program looks great on my transcript. - Last.. I did community service from 9-11:30am every Saturday in freshman and sophmore years as an aide at my church for bible classes. This year as a junior, and also as a senior (I'll be doing the same) Saturday volunteer is dropped in favor of helping out as an asisstant, youth leader, and part time teacher when needed on tuesdays and wednesdays for high school confirmation classes. Well that covers it guys. Based on my grades, SAT, activities, how am I shaping up? As it stands, my number 1 school right now is Northeastern. I've been looking at it for months and really love it. As well as Boston University.. and boston college, way too far of a reach? Also I really do need scholarship money.. so hopefully wherever I go I am offered something. Based on what I want to do and my current profile, can you recommend some universities? I'm in new york and don't want to go any lower than say, North Carolina, don't wanna go far west past Chicago. I want a good, name brand school that I can look into. Thanks! more
