My older brother stopped speaking to me after my mom's 80 th birthday party, I made suggestions for taking her for a meal and my brothers decided on a show that was ok by me, things were a little awkward because when my brother told me the time and the place I just said ok I will get mom there,as i was the one who was taking her. Open Question: How do i get a company to stop charging me even though i canceled with them a year ago?

Background: I signed up for this "membership" that works with salons all over the country that gives you discounts and what not. So every place they said accepted their company either a) stopped b) never heard of it c) some were no longer in business. So i emailed the company before my six month trial offer expired to find out how to cancel my account. They told me i had to snail mail a hand written letter with all my account info, card info, and my signature. Well I lost my card after all the places i tried denied this place so i told them and requested my information. No reply. So i emailed them again and got a response 3 weeks later with it. So i did as i was told. That was in June 2009 when i sent it. I've resent it multiple times and they are still charging me. So i go to my bank to dispute their charges. Well my lovely former roommate returned to sender my mail when i moved instead of holding it like she said so my dispute papers were denied. The moral of the story is because of this company taking out monthly payments & causing overdrafts from charging when they weren't supposed too I've had to pay $500+ dollars. And they still refuse to cancel my account until i pay what i owe them when in all reality they should have stopped charging me in July of 2009. So what do i do to get them to stop and repay the money they shouldn't have taken?? more

Hi everyone. Today I’ll be talking about something that is pretty unusual. Ghosts. Are they real or are they just some creatures that our minds made up? This is a question that has come down through the ages, and still intrigues us. It has been the subject of many stories, fictional and real, over time. Some people believe they exist and feel they have concrete evidence of it. Others think ghosts are purely in our imagination. Who’s right? I'd like to look at the following aspects of this issue to help you answer this question for yourself... A ghost is a spirit of a human who survives on the earth after death. Every culture in the world has tales about ghosts. These disturbed souls are unaware of being dead and remain attached to familiar places and repeat the same acts as alive. Ghosts are commonly characterized in a human size and shape, but there have been theories that have announced their appearance in silvery, shadowy or fog-like forms. Ghosts make their presence felt by moving objects, throwing vivid lights etc., which have no practical explanation. People who believe in ghosts explain their existence by stating that they are souls who could not find rest after death or souls who have an unfinished business on the earth. Many Asian countries believe in reincarnation, and say that ghosts are souls who refuse to leave the earth because of unfinished business they have. Some ghosts are distinguished by a famous building, which they possess. The Tower of London is reported to be haunted by the headless ghost of Anne Boleyn, spirit of Thomas Becket, and ghosts of King Edward V of England and Richard, Duke of York. There has been tales of groups of soldiers making appearances suddenly, and also of a lady with no face. The White House is said to be haunted by the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. There are ways you can communicate with ghosts and one of them is using an Ouija board. An Ouija board, which is also called talking board and spirit board is a flat board marked with letters, numbers, and other symbols used to communicate with spirits. It’s also said that you can communicate with ghosts in medication etc. A lot of people are susceptible to ghosts or paranormal events when it's dark, when they're alone and especially when they've finished a scary movie or stories. Paranoia is said to result from a sudden chemical imbalance, as well. This could also bring on hallucinations to obviously enhance the "experience". During the night people will have around 13 dreams, each 45 minutes in length. If you wake up during the REM stage (where you're actually dreaming) you'd be disoriented, half awake, half asleep, and more vulnerable to the mind's tricks. There's also the chance of electromagnetic fields influencing your surroundings and brain waves to create optical illusions of a ghost. There are movies made about ghosts which are serious like silent hill that was a pretty scary movie from my point of view and there are also some comedy movies made about them like Ghostbusters. Some of these movies said to be true stories, but are they really true stories or are they just saying this so that they could scare people and make more money? Although there has been a lot of material written about ghosts, nothing has been scientifically proven and so the topic will continue to be debated for years to come. Is there a duty, or some written or unwritten rule or ethic regarding whether a tenant (joint) has any duty/responsibility to inform the other tenant about/share a letter that asked if the other tenant failed to return for any reason, how would this impact the rights/obligations of the tenant (s) written to a property management company about a lease agreement not covering the issue of if the other joint tenant (an international student) doesn't return to the country, how does this scenario impact the tenants' rights? Voting Question: How did he react to my love letter?

I declared my love to this guy I like by writing a letter and leaving it where he'd find it (on his unattended stuff in a library). After reading it, he jumped up from where he was sitting, and didn't exactly run, but moved rather quickly, out of the room. He stayed away for a few minutes, then reappeared and resumed going about his business. He didn't know for sure that I was watching him the whole time. I think he suspected it--he knew I was there--but after reading the letter he kept his eyes on his work and barely looked up at all. He knows of my existence, but doesn't know me well. And I'm using the phrase "love letter" loosely--it wasn't like "I love you and want to have your babies! We should be together 4-eva!" I had a job interview today and was interviewed by two people. Person A gave me a business card, however person B did not. I went onto the company's website and tried to find out some information about him but was unable to do so. I thought it would be rude and somewhat inconsiderate to write a hard copy thank you note with only person A's name addressed on it. I thought about writing an email instead just to person A (we've communicated before via email) and just do the thank-you note / followup that way. Resolved Question: I've got a question about the Public sector (Ireland)......?

Long question (ranting ish) but it's a genuine question because to me Public sector/Unions don't know the meaning of logic. Since the economy went down the gutter everybody has taken a hit , whether it be the Public sector taking the Government pay cut , someone in the Private sector taking a (probable) massive drop in income or going out of business altogether. Now before I go on , this might very well turn into a ranting question , but a question nonetheless. Also this is aimed at any Public sector workers who agree with the Unions.....although any opinion is welcome. I don't understand the logic of the Unions. If the Unions want the Public sector pay increased back to something that they are comfortable with , who exactly is going to pay for it? The Government pays the public sector to provide a service to the country , the Public sector don't produce anything to increase the growth of the Country , they in an economical sense , are a leech on the countries finances. They write letters to whoever , do peoples paperwork , keep everything running etc etc but they don't create any extra wealth for the country , this comes from the Private sector. A country depends on the success of the private sector for growth of the economy , the Government hopes they create a larger profit so they can obtain more income tax and whatnot , the Public sector get Government wages which they then pay back to the Government in taxes but it just goes on a merrygoround , they make the country absolutely no profit. The Private sector has taken a bigger hit then the Public sector yet the Public sector do an awful..........awful lot more whinging. I'm asking this question because my aunt works in the Public sector and I was trying to understand her logic on it all , and she doesn't make any sense. First of all , this country is broke , I asked her who exactly is going to pay for the increase in wages so the Unions would be happy , and all she could tell me is that it wasn't fair that the Politicians were still on such massive wages and all that she wanted the rich to be taxed to the hilt to even things out and take pressure off the "lower paid workers" in the Public sector. I know Private sector people who would cut of their left testicle to be on a Public sector wage right now. Also , if the Government taxed the rich in the Private sector to "make things fair" , where does the growth in the economy come from? Rich people invest more into the country which creates more jobs and more money in circulation , my aunts logic would make us all equally poor , and that's all she had to say , the Government cannot pay the Public sector money that does not exist , and the Public sector are shamelessly holding this country to ransom over it. God I know this is a total rant but bear with me. If we taxed rich Private sector workers so high to make up for the Public sector cost , then what incentive is there for young people to work their *** off to actually get well off on their own in this country , if the Public sector message that they want to get across is to punish hardworking people for being successful? Where does the growth come from? Can anyone please explain to me the "logical" approach the Public sector have to the finance problems of this country without looking like they are just selfishly looking out for themselves and **** the state of the country? I got a ticket for running a red light in a vehicle that had bad brakes which failed on me causing me to run a red light, this vehicle was not mine and I immediately pulled into the next parking lot after it happened, about a minute later a cop who was somewhere around pulled in and wrote me a ticket. Anyway, I forgot to show up in court as I had so much going on, and I really did have a lot going on. This year has been a never ending cluster fuck and things are still pretty bad. I totally forgot about this ticket and it says I need to pay $1000 in the next 15 days or my license will be suspended. the letter said I can request a hearing within 15 days if I show up in court with my license. I am hesitant to show up in court at the risk my license if revoked. I know I should have paid my ticket and taken care of this earlier, but it was not a high priority and I had no money to pay it if i wanted too. About a month before this ticket I had my business account compromised which resulted in me losing $40,000 dollars, which left me with about $900 in my personal account. I am now forced to live with family as my business filed bankruptcy and I have yet to find new work. I am also forced to take care of another sick sibling in conjunction with my father. I am on county health care for bipolar disorder which was not a problem being self employed, but the recurring depression makes it hard to find a stable job right now. The money I manage to make freelancing in marketing, which is my area of business, isn't enough to pay the bills i do have. I have no vehicle, but I do use family members vehicles until I can save enough to get back on my feet. I can't afford to pay a $1000 dollar fine, and the only way I am able to make money is by meeting with clients by borrowing a car, so I can't afford not to have a license. When I have the money I would be willing to pay the fine, but that just can't happen right now. Is there any way to prevent my license from being suspended. I live in California and was contacted at work in 2006 by an "investigator" that was looking for someone with my same first & last name. It seems my father (he has the same name as me) defaulted on money owed through his business and they were suing him. After explaining that I was not the person they were looking for (this took many conversations before they finally believed me) and that unfortunately I was estranged from my father and could not even help them locate him, they finally quit calling. Now in 2010 I am out looking for a job and this default judgment shows up on my record during a background check! I immediately contacted the company that had sued "me" and told them I would really like this off my record since they had sued the wrong person. They finally offerred to write me a letter saying that this was not me and that it was a mistake. That's awesome except the judgment will still stay on my record. Unfortunately many employers in Southern California where I live use the local court website to access peoples records for free instead of having to pay for a "real" background search. Frankly the problem is thus far if you pull up my information enough stuff shows up that I don't need things there that aren't legit. I still have a child support failure to pay on my record because the genius people that run this state assumed since I was not married and I had a child with my girlfriend (she is now my wife of 15 years) that I must not be financially supporting them. They filed an unpaid child support on me for $16,000.00 (they finally "caught me" years after my kid was born and I was living in another state) and froze my bank account and it stayed that way until my wife explained to them that she and the child had been living with me and supported by me the entire time since the baby was born! They stopped messing with my bank account but still the stupid filing against me (even thought it shows there is not an issue anymore) still makes me look like crap to a potential employer. That makes a HUGE first impression and frankly I wonder how many employers have not even bothered to call me because of it. Is there any way to get this new one removed from my file? I have never even tried or discussed removing the child support failure to pay as I assume since it's the state it will be near impossible to do. I am sorry this is so long. I want to make sure it is well explained... We have a retired elderly couple who lives in our county. They are very well-respected by all who know them, and even though they live on a fixed income and have limited means, when they adopted a "pit-type" puppy from the animal shelter 18 months ago they have really taken care of this dog. Understanding the "stigma" attached to the breed, they even paid for professional training. They live in a very rural area on a half acre lot. The house is accessible by a dirt road from the main road and has a house on either side, each about a half acre lot. The house to their right is rental property and they recently lost the neighbor and a new family moved in. Until then, there had been no problems. The new family is different. The "man of the house" immediately informed them they were harboring a dangerous beast and he did not appreciate it. Since there are no fences up, until they could afford a fence, they decided to leash the dog when he goes out to do his business. The dog also gets three walks a day. Prior to the new family moving in, the neighbors on either side would play with the dog and as previously stated, there were no issues. The new neighbor informed the couple that if the dog set one paw on "his property" he would shoot the dog. The couple assured him they would keep the dig on a leash. he told them that was "not good enough." They were "walking the dog off their property" on a little trail behind their house. They had permission from the property owner to do this. The couple had previously called our rescue coalition to see if their dog would be helpful in a program we have implemented in the county. We had eagerly accepted their offer as this dog was perfect for the program. I cannot express enough how well-cared for and obedient this dog is. So what happened is beyond reason: The woman leashed her dog to walk him on Saturday and went down the trail. She saw her neighbor in his yard and made sure to steer clear. Coming back from the walk, it began to rain. Her husband was just pulling in the yard from a trip to the grocery store and the dog saw him. The woman dropped the leash and the dog ran for her husband. It was a momentary lapse in judgment and one she will regret for the rest of her life. But it was also not something she should have had to be concerned with. Let me emphasize here... the dog was not on the couple's property...nor was he on the neighbor's property. He was on the trail that runs into the couple's property, his back to the neighbor. The neighbor came out of his house, pistol in hand. The man rushed forward toward his dog to make sure the dog did not go toward the neighbor's yard. And a shot rang out; the dog fell. Our local vet did all he could but the dog passed. He was shot in the rear end and the area where the dog fell has been clearly marked. The authorities were called of course. Now comes the issue. The man is a State Highway Patrolman. He swears the dog had broken free from the woman and was attempting to attack him. The local Sheriff's Department ... or the two deputies that I spoke with, have told me they see no way what the neighbor said could be true and the man should be charged on several counts. One, he used his registered police weapon to shoot the dog. But that is only one issue of course. Today we learned that there will be no action taken since the dog was not on his own property. I have been told by a deputy that the sheriff's department received a lot of pressure on this one. I do not understand. Perhaps I am naive? At any rate, we were advised to write letters to everyone and anyone by an anonymous source in the Sheriff's office. The vet has already written a statement and every rescue involved in our coalition has written a statement. The first recipient will, of course, be the SHP main office. This man needs a psychological exam at the very least. it is also an election year and we will have a new sheriff as the one there now is retiring. So I am not sure whose rear end he is trying to kiss on this. Does anyone have any ideas on where we should send the letters. We want to make sure everyone who should get a letter, gets one. Thinking of not returning to my job, have no contract and have been verbally abused by manager? HELP ! Needed now relating to work issues..? Further to my post about being called a "tart" by my boss, I am seriously thinking of resigning in my role. I hate working where I work, do it to make ends meet, earn very little. Am a single mum, have my own business too. My focus is going off my business, which on average earns me around 4 times as much per hour as this job. All we get are nasty notes do this, do that, clean this, that, you haven't done this, I have a successful business of my own in the same industry, have been running it successfully for 8 years, yet thought it's time I socialise more, and got a job. Got the job, was insulted on my work, am never congratulated for returning customers, just get the negatives pulled out etc etc Had a do with her last year about work and almost left, she tried to make me stay so I did. Now I've hit a brick wall, I earn veyr little from a job that causes me strss and upset. I don't even get time to work out anymore as I am at work a lot, I can't see my kids that much and can't pick them up from school as much as I am there. at my school we have sports during lunch. for today it was a soccer tournament. so me and a few guys were playing against other boys. one of the other teams boys told me before that he was out to get me. he made a point of it during the game by incessantly tripping, shoving and pushing me. having had enough of it after a while, i shoved him back. he did the same and the teacher kicked us both out of the game for half of it. i was pissed (and asked the gym teacher "why the fuck i was disaalowed in the gym. he responded that if i wanted i could get out of the gym). at this point i saw the other kid smiling and telling his friend that he did it on purpose because i was the best player on my team and he wanted to get me out of the game). after we came back to the game,the abuse continued and the other kid got a few penalties. after the game, the kids teammatee comes up to me and starts telling me that everything that happened was my fault, that i shouldn't be mad because I didn't win (it was a tie), that im a bad sport.. things like that. so at this point i got real mad and told him to say it to my face and called him a midjet (im his hight, so it wasnt even a real insult). kid number one goes up to me, shoves me and we argue. ( and asks me if i wanna fight). i shove him back and then (i know this sounds stupid) but the janitor, who was watching the game comes and tells me to go to the office.we were all three guilty and arguing but he specifically brought me to the office for some odd reason. I was complacent but after I realized that he was going to send me to the principal i got mad and told him, "I dont have to (not sure if I said fucking) answer to u. its none of ur business" then, im called into the office and am blamed for everything that happened. (one of the other kids moms being in a high position in the school, i suspect is the reason he didn't get into trouble) the only point he focused on was that i got into trouble in the beginning of the year for fighting and that i cant insult an adult. none of my claims were heared. long story short i got a three day suspension, and whats worse is that it's a carnival week and that im not going to be able to participate in the talent show where i was supposed to sing. ive been practising for it really hard and had a rehearsal today, but he wouldnt change the date of the suspension :( im in secondary 2 and am very upset. i barely got any say in the matter. im bruised up all over, missing school, apparently am dissalowed in the gym from now on, have to write a one page letter to the janitor and am that only one faulted. in your opinion was this fair and how would you have handled the situation? was thisblown out of proportion (boys always argue after sports and right after we insulted each othe we made peace)? all comments are appreciated. thanks more

The only time we talked was when we said hi & when he tried to leave with me after dinner at dennys at 4 am. i know he went home alone (with his sister- no skanks). if he loved me, then why couldnt he act like it in front of everyone? everyone had put it all together the week before when we were having a "couples camping trip". then, he came home during xmas & broke up with me & couldnt give me a good explanation (i didnt even know we were together in the first place), but that we hung out too much. that spending every evening was too much, etc. 3 days after breaking up with me he called & i came over. He told me that he realized how important i was to him & that i meant everything to him & he couldnt live without me & he needed me, etc. it's been 2 months & we were talking about getting married on my bday next year (a date he picked out... odd coincidence- my gma & gpa got married on her bday too! & gpa was a marine). he told me were soulmates & well be together forever. then, last week i found out he hooked up with my friend when we "broke up". He lied & said it never happened. i told him to never speak to me again & i ignored his calls & texts. He wrote me stupid shit like "your crazy, youve been looking for an excuse..." "...we werent together so its none of your business" etc. i never replied. a few days later i was over being upset he lied to me & i text him "you miss me yet?" he said "fuck no" & thats all i needed to fully get over him. I live in Illinois and held two jobs last year 2009 but the one I am currently working for is discriminating against me and the other one forced me into resignation due to mistreatment. I was approved for unemployment benefits early this month February and the abriator sent me a letter stating that I was discharged and my former employer told me it would be best if I quit rather than being fired. I was told unemployment spoke with my past employer and they said I quit due to “personal” reasons. This is not true. It was because of discrimination, retaliation and verbally abusive hostile work environment. I have a phone hearing in a few weeks and can not afford a lawyer. I never signed any documentation and gave them a verbal 2 weeks notice. After reading my statement of the events that took place please let me know what you think and how I should go about this properly. This is very long by the way, sorry. Thank you. My past employer forced me to resign by making my work environment hostile and personally attacking me, not scheduling me for a couple weeks and it also made my mental and physical health problems worse and caused a lot of stress that was relative to the job. These last few months I have had to see doctors and I due to physical health problems. When I started at my other job I really put a lot of time and effort in and helped a lot of my co workers out that need time off by taking shifts for them. July 25, 2009 I was on my way to work at the first job and I got stung by something on the way there riding a motorized scooter. My arm started to swell up really bad and I was getting dizzy. I tried working at my first job for about 20 minutes, but the pain was too much to handle. I was sent home on my way home I stopped at the other job that was supposed to work and showed upper management my arm, by then it was turning red and hiving up I was in tears from the pain. She then said ok go home get some rest we will cover your shift. The next day I came in and I was written up for missing the day before! Within the first week of May there was a personal attack on me from my second job by one of my mangers and co worker because I was not able to take a shift for someone. From then on the co worker treated me very poorly and added to the hostile environment by going off on me in front of customers if I made any mistakes or needed information for products in order to complete my job duties. Whenever the coworker was working the service desk and I needed to call for something for a customer I would hesitate to call over. There was an instance where she did hang up on me. This has happened with my supervisor as well. Anytime I needed an over ride for an item or had a question about a price check or was un sure of the correct department number to call for a price or new item for a customer she would get upset because I was either not able to find it in the employers ad or get a hold of someone in the correct department because they would not answer and she would have to call an over head page to the department which is part of her job duties. In September I had a customer who was giving me a hard time about something along the lines of prices being wrong on a few products he bought and expired coupon issue. This employer does not accept expired coupons of any kind be it manufacture or from our store since May 2009. I explained this to the older man in a professional business way and he started going off on me and yelling very loud and humiliating me in front of everyone. I was on one of the self scans at the time this took place. He referred to me as just a kid and I don’t know how to do my job correctly and how ridiculous this was. After referring to me as a kid I could help but tell him I am 25 years old and don’t you dare call me a kid. I went to walk away from him to call my supervisor and he then said hey don’t you walk away finish your job! He said I want to talk to your manager. Supervisor came over and apologized to the customer and told me to go on break. I told my manager who at the time was in charge about what took place and all he told me is it happens and to just get over it. In early November I was helping a customer with a price check on one of the self scan checkout lanes. I must have not realized the customer wanted this product still and I accidently deleted it out of the computer. At the time the co worker that treated me poorly came to relieve me for break. When I returned she yelled at me for supposedly leaving the customer and that he wanted the item still. I did not inform her I was back from break because of what she had just put me thru. One customer cared enough to get the co worker’s name from me that saw this action take place. I was extremely embarrassed and humiliated by this person in appropriate actions towards me. A few weeks later I got pulled in the office and was told money was missing out of my drawer and I would be put on audit. The same workerI have filled charges with the EEOC against my current employer for discrimination but EEOC said they would not be able to help with what happend at my other employer workplace. I submitted a more lengthy report to them.. The same worker works cash office that has a personal grudge against me. I talked to upper manager and asked if she or anyone could have taken the money. I was told no. One of my managers told that co worker what we had discussed and the co worker again lashed out at me verbally. For the time I worked at my second job I was always on time for work and breaks. Except for a couple instances where I had to take public transportation. I was written up for being 2 minutes late. I was also then pulled in the office because I supposedly was late on a break by one minute another write up which is not true. I start a stop watch timer on my breaks always. I am OCD so I am good at watching time. The last thing they did was back in November they did not schedule me for a couple weeks. I was told that was because there were no hours for those weeks. But everyone else had gotten scheduled! I checked the schedule for the following week and it said 2 days. The next day I went to check it againand it was not there. They put me back on schedule without telling me thenn wrote me up for not showing up.Employer is aware that I have mental disabilities due to frontal lobe brain injury as well as possible physical health problems that involve my neck, back and hips that are currently being checked out and that I have addressed to my medical doctor many times. more
