Malaysia wont compromise in FTA talks with US

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysias International trade minister Monday said his country would not compromise on its sensitive agricultural sector in the next round of free trade negotiations with the United States. Last week, Muhyiddin Yassin urged the US to lower its expectations as the two countries prepare to resume talks towards a free trade agreement in July. He said the country would not compromise on a list of issues, including affirmative action policies for the nations majority ethnic Malays. The agriculture sector is important to the country and we will not compromise if we feel that any agreement is likely to negatively affect farmers, he was quoted as telling Parliament by state news agency Bernama. more

How To Promote Your New Business Questions asked

Open Question: I am a dog trainer........?

Here me roar..lol..jk Anyways...I was trained through Animal Behavior College(ABC) as a dog obedience instructor. I am now working on my certification (I just recently realized that I was not officially certified)...I need a few more hours of training before I can take the cert. test. I promote regularly with fliers, business cards, etc. but I would like to go on the web. How should I promote my business more online? I have already done a few recommended things. Such as: *Twitter (http://twitter.com/Happy_Tails) *Blogging (http://www.blogger.com/profile/00682476933687459714) *I made a Myspace but it's all messed up and won't accept profile layouts. *I'm currently working on a website. Sooo...what else could you suggest to promote online? Thanks in advance! -K <3 Happy Tails Obedience School more

Open Question: Good promotion ideas?

Hey everyone! So I recently started a web-based store. It's actually beginning to pick up some steam and I'm amazed at how much fun it is to manage everything. I'm enjoying the business I've been getting but I think I'm ready to really start getting word out a bit more about it and I want to find some good ways to promote. It's a Christian business and the demographic I'm seeking is Christians between the ages of about 15-35 (tentatively.. it's not a "MUST" demographic, obviously). It's also a certain style, more tailored to fit people who are heavily into music and expressing themselves creatively (artists, dancers, athletes, photographers, stylists, etc, etc, etc). So I'm wondering what the best way to promote would be. I was thinking of hitting up forums or other places where people get together and discuss websites and things. Could anyone suggest some good sites?? I don't know many good forum spots. I was also wondering if there's an effective way of networking on Myspace other than just adding people and talking to them (like is there a forum spot I'm unaware of or something?). Anyway, other than that I have no idea what to do to get more traffic. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks guys! XoXo- Kell more

Open Question: Why does a performing career have to be launched through the business vein?

In order for specially good playing to be recognized, why does it have to turn political? I'm talking about nowadays. If only people could just listen and recognize greatness instead of artists having to be promoted by some business pitch. Yes, I would count music competition as a business affair because the concept of judging one kind of art from another is just ludicrous! You can't measure art with numbers like that- it's unfair! I see so many great artists swept under the rug because they did not run into someone powerful who could promote them... or something like that. I also see a lot of mediocre artists being promoted because of some connection or something, and some people buy that because of the so called "glamor" or je ne sais quoi. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? What can be done? more

Open Question: english accent ?.......................?

Okay, I have asian parents who emigrated to the us 20 years ago. They have strong korean accents but thats because they're immigrants. After listening to my voice on a microphone I have discovered that I have a strong asian accent. How do i get rid of it. i'm participating in International Speech Contest. so please record streaming audio about my contest essay ! then i can hear your accent and practice more and more like a american with standard accent. Korea is known as the “Land of the Morning Calm.” This expression comes from the beginning of the modern history of Korea. Koryo means “high” and “clear.” This word symbolizes the clear blue sky of Korea. The beautiful nature of Korea is expressed through this ancient name. The beginning of Korean history started from 2333 B.C. The Korean peninsular adjoins China and Japan. Korea was conquered by Japan and divided into South and North Korea at the end of World War II. The Korean War caused devastating damage to Korea. However, it should be noticed that despite frequent foreign invasions, the Korean Peninsula has been under a single government while maintaining its political independence, culture and ethnic heritage. Not that long ago, South Korea was one of Asia’s economic success stories – one of the region’s hungry “tigers” looking around for new markets to conquer. Seoul, its capital, modernized in a very rapid amount of time to accommodate the needs of business travelers and has brought the country’s colorful traditions and trademark tranquility. The population of the Korean Peninsula, sharing a common language, ethnic identity, and culture, was one of the world’s most homogeneous. Although there were significant regional differences even within the relatively small land area of South Korea, neither the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) nor South Korea had significant non-Korean ethnic minorities. This homogeneity, and the sense of a shared historical experience that it promoted, gave the people of South Korea a strong sense of national purpose. The division of the peninsula after World Ward II, the establishment of two antagonistic states in the north and south, and the profound changes in the economy and society caused by industrialization and urbanization since the 1950’s led many South Koreans to search for their national identity and place in the world. Many modernized; urban-dwelling South Koreans embark on a search for the “essence” of their culture, which commonly expresses itself as hostility to foreign influences. The Korea of today is a fascinating place whose ancient culture and history blend harmoniously with it modern cities. The government is continuously investing in transportation and accommodation infrastructure projects in order to attract more and more foreign tourist and investors each year.noooooooo it's okay i love all English accents, but of course I find American accent to be neutral more

Resolved Question: Whatever happened to separation of powers?

Excuse me, but what business does the Executive Branch have in conducting legislative negotiation meetings with the Legislature?? Why are we hearing representatives and senators saying they're trying to promote and propel President Obama's legislative agenda (1rst link) instead of these representatives representing the interests of the people for whom they work and by whom they were elected? Or that they'd give up what's good for America if they can have something good in return (2nd link). Have they forgotten that they ALL work for the American people, not for the President? (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100109/ap_on_el_se/us_obama_reid and http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100109/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul) And why is it these legislators think that they have the privilege of privacy when discussing or negotiating bills that will become laws of the land--they are accountable to the people, and the people have the right to free speech/press to be informed as it happens!! When they include only one-sided views from the majority parties only in the negotiation process, they alienate at least half the population--how is that fair representation, and is that Constitutional? I think not... Liberal, moderate or conservative, isn't there anyone else who has a serious problem with what is going on today in our government? Have you been writing your representatives and voting those with blatant disregard for our Constitution OUT of office?Sadcat: A president's personal legislative agenda can include goals he wants to lead the country toward. But the details should be hashed out in the legislature, by themselves. The President will either sign or not sign the final bill, he should not be in the negotiations as part of checks and balances.Sophie: great, thanks! Composition Why people who own an STZ 723 enjoy driving more than you do As diverse as SSTZ owners are – a sweeping assortment of business executive, professional people, movie stars and royalty- there is only one thing they all seem to have in common: an unabashed enthusiasm for their STZ. An enthusiasm that seems to increase as the years and miles go by! What causes this exceedingly rare relationship between man and machine? Quite frankly, the caliber of the machine. The STZ is a luxury sedan designed by racing engineers. The very same engineers responsible for the prodigious reputation STZ has enjoyed over the past decade on great race circuits of the world. German engineers who, n the words of the editor of “Speed on Wheels: magazines, believe that “Driving, like life, is a two handed affair that should be grasped firmly, taken seriously and done well.” Under the hood of the STZ is a 3 litre, fuel-injected masterwork of engineering that “ Car abd Track” magazine calles” the most refined inline six in the world.” The suspension is fully independent of on all four wheels, resulting in a degree of control and comfort so unique, it will spoil you. Resolved Question: What is the best way a woman can tell if a man is against her because of her gender?

I feel that I have this going on at work. I was recently promoted and with it I got a new office instead of a smaller one that I shared with two other male workers and one female. Now I work in my own office and have longer hours but the pay is way more than what I was getting. I went from $31,000 a year to $52,300 a year. Almost half of what i was getting. The position I am at now was not an easy thing to accomplish, nor was it something I took for granted. All those who wanted to be promoted to the position I got promoted to had to complete a 3 month class of learning new material and new software data. Which also included computer programing to make the software run on laptops without burning the system out. We also had to put in at least 4 hours a day on top of the already 8 hours we were working the regular job. The training class for this new promotion was only 4 days a week so I chose to do them two hours after I got off of work for 4 days a week. It was one of the most hardest things I've ever done and the directors did not in no way make it easier on me because I am a woman or because I am black. There were 17 of us to start with. 5 dropped out in the first week and then 4 more dropped out during the weeks to come. In the end there were me and 8 other people from my job left. And I made sure I did all of my assignments as soon as I got them so I would not slack behind in any work. And every time I did not under stand something I would make sure to ask questions and take notes at the end of each class. When the training session was over I was so surprised to hear that I had been the one who was selected. One of the male instructors of the program told me that he was very impressed with my work and that he admired my dedication. When I got home I cried for over an hour and called all of my family and friends and told them the good news. Back at work when I was moving my things from the shared office to the new office that was all mine. One of my co-workers told me that a few of the guys who stayed in the training program with me were saying that they should have know that t would be given to the only black woman left in the program. Because I would have probably just slept my way to the top anyhow. I didn't let her know that it pissed me off. So I just told her its not my fault because I never slacked off of any assignment and I made sure that I understood every instruction given to me. But it actually did piss me off. I went to college and earned my education, just as I earned my career and my promotion. Why do some men think that women can only succeed in the business world because of their gender? more

Open Question: Is the recovery a lie? Why is people looking for work a bad thing? Why is the media manipuating the truth?

Check this out: Many analysts predict the economy grew by up to 4 percent at an annual rate in the October-December quarter. Federal Reserve officials and private economists worry that much of the recovery stems from temporary factors, such as government stimulus efforts and businesses rebuilding inventories. More hiring could increase household incomes and spending, which would help sustain the recovery. Signs of more hiring, though, could also draw millions of people who have given up their job searches back into the work force. That could boost the unemployment rate in the next few months to as high as 10.5 percent, economists say. This says it all right here, they know many people have given up looking for work, yet they still promote it as a good thing claim unemployment is falling. But, they admit themselves that if the people start back looking for work it would increase those same unemployment numbers to 10.5%. Yet, they are ok with people giving up on looking for work, just so they can manipulate the data to produce a recovery.Pompan please dont be stupid, that is why many people do not post important questions on here... this is very important. We are being manipulated with good news not bad. How can you they claim we are recovering when so many people have stopped looking for jobs? They report the news as if these people have found jobs when in fact they have not. I think it is manipulation to claim a turn around when they admit if you factor in the people who have quit looking for jobs, unemployment woud be at 10.5% ... but they spin it as if jobs are being created when in fact people have just stopped looking. Plus if you think I am bias towards Obama you must have never read any of my questions. more

Open Question: If StrikeForce wants to grow and be successful why haven't they stole a page from the UFC?

Why isn't Strikeforce taking some tips from the UFC and taking advantage of low cost things like Video Blogs? Or taking advantage of UTUBE. If you visit Strikeforces Website it really sucks and is hardly up to date. Why doesn't Strikeforce have a Front Man like Dana White who's everywhere promoting the UFC and getting people excited about the UFC? Dana White has his finger on the pulse of MMA Fans and the MMA business. He even reads what fans say on the internet. I blame Strikeforce for not using every modern advantage that is available. The management must be to old school and unwilling to adapt their ways. Even Threads on the website are just a few and boring. They should be getting Fans fired up. more

Resolved Question: WWE International Division gets a new person heading it up just now?

Ok. I own a little WWE stock and was just checking my account, and this release just came out. I'm curious of a few things and wonder if anybody here can shed some light: -I don't notice a statement of who he's replacing. Generally a release like this says that someone's stepped down or whatever and so-and-so is being promoted. Do you find this unusual? -If this guy's going to oversee *International*, why are they moving him back to Stamford, CT? lol -I don't know much about what goes on outside of the US w/WWE except that the wrestlers do travel there somewhat routinely and do put shows on. Do you think having a new head of this division will get more European talent into the ranks? What changes do you foresee, if any, or is this just a boardroom thing? Resolved Question: OK.... So camp Mayweather and camp Pacquaio are to meet on Tuesday....?

Now.. The official agenda is to discuss: 1) Pacquaio's defamatory lawsuit 2) The blood test situation 3) Promotional time status. Now guys, I know the most of you are avid boxing fans with a lot to contribute... I also know this is quite a sensitive subject... So... Let's get down to business.......... In my opinion, the lawsuit is only keeping the lawyers employed... In all fairness, there ain't no way Pacquaio and Mayweather are going to court...... - Fact!! The blood test situation: The dogs on the street know that, the richest ever fight in the history of boxing will not be postponed over a blood test nonsense... Now we really hit a sensitive nerve..... Can the fight be promoted in time by March 13th?? Yeah, sure the fight will be a sell out.. but can the guys not milk an extra few million given more time.... ???? Face it guys..... After this fight is done.... Pacquaio wants to go into politics back home, and Mayweather only came out of retirement for one last payday.... He won't be waiting around after the fight - win, lose or draw.... What you think guys??? Are we being willingly walked into running up our cred id cards???? I think it's one of the best public relations spin's ever conducted........ **Brilliant** more

Resolved Question: finding it hard to understand my brother, im told he cares about me, but he treats me like dirt on his shoe?

i just dont... get him. he is constantly mean to me, day in, day out. he throws comments at me and when i try to help him he throws everything in my face, usually followed by 'who asked you?' or 'its none of your business' but when im not there, he asks my parents where i am, he defends me to other people and he told my mum about a month ago that he really admired me, he said ' i know this sounds corny and like an american film, but she is a hero, i really look up to her, because she is the only one in this family who really doesnt hurt anyone and is the only one strong enough to admit her faults and deal with her problems' it have never known him to be nice to me to my face, and i sometimes wonder if my mum tells me these things to keep my spirits up. ok, so maybe i should give a bit of family back ground: me: depression, social anxiety, food phobia and insect phobia brother jake: has a temper, smokes weed and drinks a lot (not a lay about though, hes a trainee chef) dad: anger problems, plays mind games with me and mum, caused my brother to sever his tendon in his hand, almost destroying his future cheffing career. mum: so madly in love she can never bring herself to leave him, i can see dad hurts her mentally, but she just endures it. ok, so the night my brother hurt his hand my dad was shouting at me because the fire had gone out, he'd been to the pub and accused my mum of having an affair with a member of the quiz team, who is only 4 years older than me! then jake pushed him and said 'leave her alone, i was doing the fire! dad started shouting at jake, jake turned around to push the wall, his hand slipped and went through a glass window. dad disappeared out the door saying 'sh!* i didnt mean to, he did it, not me' it was 2am and i had to drive because mum had to apply pressure to the wound, jake was delerious or in shock, i dont know but he kept on saying 'sorry, ive ruined the carpet' when he got to casualty he said 'dont let her in the room, go away' to me. and i was left outside in a waiting room, surrounded by people i was scared of. there's times when he'll shout at me and call me fat, pathetic or ugly, using the same words dad does, then he'll tell me something, like a secret, or a dream or how he feels about something. last night i picked him up from work and he shouted at me, then when i got out the car he came out of knowhere, gave me a hug and told me his best friend at work lost his dad and his mentor is being sued by a woman who used to live with us (we know she has mental problems and is very promiscuous, so we know she has used the opportunity to further her career, once the head chef goes she gets promoted) then he looked at me and said 'what's your problem, why dont ou hug me back? i support you when he upsets you, so why wont you support me?' i didnt mean to, i was just shocked (i dont deal very well with physical contact from anyone) but i also just didnt expect him to react like that. i dont know whether the weed makes him chop and change or whether he tries to protect me and confide in me at the same time, i just dont understand him. more

Voting Question: Life ruined. Hope Gone!?

3 years ago my life was on an upward path. Work was going great. I was promoted and told I had a great future. I am from England and was asked to work for my company in California. This was a big deal. They send their best people to CA to learn more about the business and then the theory goes they get transferred back as senior managers. Ever since then everything has gone wrong. Work didn’t go great. I met this woman who was very beautiful but who was a complete liar – I was just too dumb to realize it. I fell in love with her she cleaned me out financially and left in the car I bought her with some guy she had been cheating on me with throughout our relationship. Work went worse after this. I thought about going home but was too embarrassed – everyone at work in England knows about how stupid I was and how badly I let her treat me. Then my father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in March of this year. I asked for a job at home and was offered my old job back. This might sound dumb but this hurts my pride very much. Its like I have wasted the last three years. People who were junior when I left are now my superior. Basically my career is ruined, I am ashamed and embarrassed for being so dumb with my “GF”, i owe a lot of money. My father passed away 4 weeks ago. I thought that I would have been able to spend more time with him and I know this sounds selfish but now I kind of regret moving back home. There will be no opportunity to transfer back to CA again. To top all this off I bought a second hand car in a hurry with the last of my money and it has turned out to be a heap of junk.- has a check engine light already. Finally my brother has been idagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I am worried about him. He is just 22 years old so it is a tough adjustment for him. I never thought of suicide before but feel my life is completely ruined and that at 32 there I am trapped with nothing and that there is no point in going on. Anyone have any ways to even being to see a way out of this mess? more

Resolved Question: statement of purpose, please help me with it, i welcome any change, thank you!?

As an international Chinese student in the United States, I believe that I have a great deal of business, academic, social, and cultural experience that will allow me to fit in well and contribute to the international flavor of Lund University. One of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a business student with a flair for the arts. I am a woman with technical aptitude and an interest in entreprenership. I also have a passion for traveling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work. My Business degree has given a strong foundation to my analytical skills since business issues research involves a lot of complex and intricate relationships among parties who are aiming at different goals, and the application of basic math, communication and psychology skills. Over the past four years in college, I have been working part-time with my own business, Shining SIM Card, set up when I just became a college student. I was the president of student government and am also an active member with SSE - Siemens Solar Energy. I have assisted my father in his project to supervise and monitor the process in his company during my breaks. More than what I have studied in school and college, it has been these experiences that have shaped the person that I am today. I believe that this unique blend of experiences has made me a woman with an original point of view. This blend has given me a broader perspective to and a good understanding of life and a goal to aim for. Among other things, I have this diversity of experience to offer Lund University. My most substantial accomplishment has been the success of Shining SIM Card that I managed in Dalian, China, where I have been working as a manager since 2005. Entreprenership, as a field, had always fascinated me right from my middle school days, and being an entrepreneur to contribute its utilities to mankind is the life long dream and career objective I persue, it is worthy to devote energy and commitment to found my own business and lead it success. Shining SIM Card, my first big step on my enterprise career, compared with prior experience, grew up from only one employee to fifteen, the main consumers from one campus were enlarged to other 6 big universities and also some small schools of the local city when I graduated. Most of my customers were college students, as a student myself, it was easy for me to do surveies, to know the popular tastes, and the most impressing way to promote the business with very limited resources. The advertisement form developped from hand writing poster on wall to big colorful advertisement scroll and products propaganda for freshmen annually. The goal for advertisement is let 60% of the students consider my products first when they are about to purchase, and let them to introduce us to the rest 40%. Also I had an online sale shop for the convenience of customers, which has been in operation for 5 years. Run my own business required me to believe in myself and in what I thought was good for the company. I had to take a pro-active approach, take the initiative and play a leadership role in motivating people and executing events to completion. A good manager is one who can figure out where problem lies and may happen, deal with it effectively by involving all the members of the company and improve the overall culture of the company. The problems I saw at Shining SIM Card had to be resolved to sustain the company. The fact that I was able to pull off this task alone has boosted my confidence in my abilities. The business climate has never been more friendly toward entrepreneurship than it is today. However, enterprise and creativity alone are rarely sufficient to bring an entrepreneur's ideas to fruition. Though, venturing off into Entrepreneurship is a challenge, one which I think some formal education can help solidify and provide a stronger foundation for success. So that leads me to my application for an entreprenership program at Lund University, and I wish to develop an idea based on research from Lund University, during the master year. more

Voting Question: Life ruined. No hope left?

I never thought of suicide before but feel my life is completely ruined and that at 32 there I am trapped with nothing and that there is no point in going on. more

Resolved Question: Who is going to pay to have people stay in college forever or is this a self serving bias?

Broke economy, broke government, under performing business, and rising education costs! The facts do not support this idea however they do promote the idea that professional development will grow. Companies design the course, set their own standards, and keep their staff. more
