AEDC celebrates 30 years of helping businesses' dreams come true

The AEDC has been helping bridge the gap between a person's dream of being a business owner, and the reality of hanging an “open for business" sign on their door, for more than 30 years.

More than 50 local businesses that have flourished in part from the financial support given to them by the AEDC showed up in support of the AEDC's 30th anniversary celebration, which took place last night at the Arcata Community Center. The AEDC helps small businesses acquire the capital they need to get started through various loan programs and funding sources, such as the Headwater and Old Growth Redwood funds and small business administration.

Program Outreach Coordinator, Susan Seaman said that kind of assistance has amounted to millions of dollars' worth of bragging rights on the AEDC's behalf — and definitely cause for a celebration. more

Businesses turn to NBTA in uncertain economic times

The business travel community has turned to the National Business Travel Association and its Annual International Convention & Exposition as the source of resources, information, networking, education and relationship-building to help companies navigate the future in an uncertain economy. On the first full day of the NBTA Convention, being held this week in Los Angeles, registration was at a record high of nearly 6,400 attendees, and additional attendees are continuing to register. Interpublic Snags Big Stake in Huge
